At least electrical refinement in loft appears to have worked. 'I am da man' declares DH. He will be da man when my washing machine works without leaking. Sexual favours have been offered. It has come to that.

Bleuravin · 28/03/2009 16:59

Lol Boff...I see you and I approach problems in similiar ways

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/03/2009 17:12

BabyBolat: been given quite a lot of different things for his skin, some just make him worse - especially the steroids once a course of them is finished! So just trying to keep it fairly under control at moment, but not easy! At the moment using Epaderm at night - though he hated the wet wraps in the middle of the night when I tried them - so was using "dry wraps" but he's still getting annoyed with his feet covered in the night. I end up taking them off in the middle of the night and putting some natural cream (from bees wax, lavender etc) and it cools him down and helps him to relax. So just trying a mix of things really, as anything used too much/frequently it seems to make him worse itchy. The epaderm isn't too bad once at night, but he didn't like it during the day at all! However, wondering if I'm hitting on something with taking tomatoes out of his diet (we seem to eat lots of tomato based meals & ketchup) and his face has been soooo much better since having 3 days of no tomato! Rest of skin still sad, but remarkably better on the face...I think, anyway!

I still swear by hemp oil for eczema and will keep singing its praises. Lots of people dismiss it but the friends Ive had who've given it a go agree.

BoffinMum · 28/03/2009 17:22

Rachel, my DD had really bad eczema and saw David Atherton at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He recommended a special potion to be made up by the chemist, which was a very low dose steroid cream mixed up with vaseline. This had to be layered on thickly at night with a hot wet tubigrip on top followed by a dry tubigrip. DD then had a dose of Piriton at bedtime. Worked a treat and we never looked back.

This was the man:

Bleuravin · 28/03/2009 17:44

giggle Nutty, yes perhaps... still no clues then on the boy girl thing... hmmm making name deciding very difficult.

AuldAlliance · 28/03/2009 18:03

Viewers gone... don't think they were very impressed, as they came at quarter to six and it's really rainy so the house was v gloomy. DH was also in a really bad mood so he stressed all the negative aspects. He then had a moment of sudden lucidity after they'd gone and realised that if we don't want endless viewers traipsing through the house he should sing its praises. Sometimes men are a leetle slow...

He now has a headache and I am hoping he's not caught this cold, as life could well become unbearable. Maybe I should refrain from showing him this classic.

Boff, sorry to hear that appliance heaven is turning into hell. Hope it gets sorted soon and that da man doesn't get his BP soaring dealing with it all.
As for your DD nicking your mini eggs, I am utterly horrified. We need to come up with a Fanjo Warriors punishment for her .

Bleu, the Harry Potter is really interesting to read in French (how he translates Hogwarts and so on). But probably not one of the easiest reads...

BB: spill the beans on the chick lit! I need some recommendations for light reading; am just getting into S. Zweig's Post Office Girl, but it's not brainless enough for this stage in pregnancy.

BoffinMum · 28/03/2009 18:17

OK

Washing machine still leaking. This is apparently because he chopped off the end of the installation pipe to make it all fit. It doesn't. Am currently doing a wash with a bowl underneath the joint. When I mentioned my desire to get this fixed, I got a hurt look and the comment that he had done loads of house stuff for me today as a love offering. This may indeed be so, but all I wanted doing was the washing machine and tumble dryer plumbing in. Properly.

Heated towel rail now non-functional BUT at least a little light on the top of the pull cord comes on when you pull the cord. This is the innovation.

I need mini eggs NOW.

BoffinMum · 28/03/2009 18:20

Auld, not chick lit, but I am reading Barbara Vine's The Chimney Sweep's Boy, which is very good, and which I ma happy to post you after I have finished. Alternatively I can recommend Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, one of our book club books and a cracking read.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/03/2009 18:28

Auld - Brainless easy reading ..... anyhting by louise or tilly bagshawe, jo rees, tasmina perry, jill mansell or penny vincenzi

AuldAlliance · 28/03/2009 18:32

Thanks for the tips, both of you. Will try and get on to Amazon tonight or tomorrow and check out all these authors.
Boff, I'd love the B. Vine, if posting it isn't too much of a hassle with everything else you have going on. Do you want the Zweig in return once I'm done with it? It's good, v well written and translated, but I don't think I'm likely to read it again any time soon!

BoffinMum · 28/03/2009 18:37

OK Auld, I should have finished the Vine in the next day or two all being well, so if you email me your address I will post it off to you. I am very happy to accept the Zweig at some point as well.

AuldAlliance · 28/03/2009 18:45

Ooh, thanks. Have e-mailed you Boff (at your work address).

Will send you the Zweig once I've read it, so send me your address, too.

BabyBolat · 28/03/2009 18:48

Ooh I love Louise Bagshaw and freya north as authors for chick lit - and of course a new author (and one of my best friends) Lindsey Kelk who's first book 'I heart New York' is out in 2 months time...

Started a Jane Moore book while DH was sleeping - am about 3/4 through - tis OK but not riveting

oooh mini eggs....

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/03/2009 18:49

Boffin - i havent forgotten about the hair treatment BTW, dh just hasn't had chance to go down there yet xx

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 28/03/2009 18:50

Rachel I have no advice on creams but a friend of mine's little boy suffers really badly with it and she is always trying new things hopefully bronze and boff's creams will help!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 28/03/2009 18:52

wait wait wait...clairey's getting INDUCED today???
I though they were just turning the baby?
wow!

well, DH is at teh pub. went to watch the scotland game with a couple of pals. so i got a chinese takeaway and have a bar of whole nut waiting for when DS is asleep!
he fell asleep in the car this afternoon for a little while so he won't be ready for his usual bedtime. but i'll still try. i'm looking forward to pjs, pillows and girly tv!

springy - dirty sex is indeed very possible when you are a mom. in fact our sex life became much more interesting after DS was born (and when I was able to have sex again. I won't depress you by telling you how long that was.)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/03/2009 18:52

BB - ooohhhhh freya north she's good too!! must order your friends book, is it on amazon.

OP posts:
purplemonkeydishwasher · 28/03/2009 18:53

dh offered to do some deforesting for me today. though the offer included putting his initial in there... though it would be funny to see the midwife's face when she sees a big P carved in there!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 28/03/2009 19:11

Purple... ROFL at the P...

BoffinMum · 28/03/2009 19:13

Thanks for hair product offer, Nutty. I look forward to it. As this baby will be in here probably until 2010 I will need to keep up my hair regime if I am going to look good in the photos.

Springy, how do you think people have more than one DC unless dirty sex manages to rear its head?? We don't all lie there in frilly polycotton nighties from Marks thinking of England, you know.

DH has now disconnected little light thing and reconnected towel rail, so at least that works. He has also (successfully) fixed:

1 roller blind
1 dimmer switch
1 bathroom extractor fan
1 strip lighting fixture
3 sockets

Tumble dryer works as long as you manually empty the condensing drawer rather than just let the water drain away.

I think DH is definitely nesting. He is actually quite sexy when he is doing DIY, with his head torch on and everything.

BabyBolat · 28/03/2009 19:34

LOL at P and head torch!!

Nutty yes tis on amazon here she is moving over there in three months I am consoling myself with the hope that the dollar will strengthen again and I can get my shoes half price!!

Am very impressed by BoffinDad's efforts today, so far my DH has - woken up, eaten left over pizza, walked me in to town (he did in his defense carry bags and bags of fruit and veg 2 miles home as he wouldn't let me carry it), eaten the lunch I made him, slept for 3 hours and chatted to friends on msn!!

And we have now just walked to the shop (normally 5-10 minutes away but took noticeably longer tonight with my current girth and stiff legs from this morning) to buy chocolate supplies for Robin Hood watching...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/03/2009 19:59

Purple lol at P

Boff - well done to your dh and his head torch!!

sorry xx

BB - well you could always go over there to visit and take an empty suitcase!! i would use any excuse to visit

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 28/03/2009 20:31

Good going, BoffinDad! Am very impressed. Also very envious of your tumble dryer, now that I have finally dragged our huge sheets out of the machine and fetchingly arrayed them on the pulley and clothes horse.

DH has been asleep for the last hour and a half. Six hours with DS and he keels over!
