Thank you for the sympathy.
I held a very little 5 week old baby yesterday and it was lovely - it really put me in a great mood - I must remember that and stop being such a grump.

Finishing work on Friday was a little odd. At 5 o'clock I was trying to finish up and got into an almost-argument about the realities of the people I am supposedly handing over to (I was snapped at about one of them being too junior and always being fetched away to do other things, and the other, my boss, too busy and already notoriously inaccessible - in other words, the cover I had nothing to do with arranging or approving is inadequate and I am being bollocked about it at the last minute?!)

No signs of lo turning up early, but I hope (s)he knows (s)he is welcome any time - nothing is ready except some nice clean clothes and moses basket sheets, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest if it wants to make an appearance.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 29/03/2009 20:21

Off to scoff, catch you all later.

tristaleejac · 29/03/2009 20:31

ginger that's crap about your work. Are you off on maternity leave now?
If so, woohoo, forget them! You don't have to worry about it for a good while now

SpringySunshine · 29/03/2009 20:39

BB, where did you see nice boys' clothes?! I keep lusting after the lovely girly things instead. Although my mum's colleague's knitted us a really cute tank top thing & it's so lovely. That cheered me up

Boff, good luck with the primary school! It sounds lovely. & the nursery class will be a bonus

Poor Swaliswan! We need some nice, straight-forward pregnancies & labours!

OddEyes, you seem very close The false labour thing is so frustrating - you're really near the end now though, whatever happens

Sadly, I knew what space docking was already. I don't know what this says about me

Oh, & count me in the SPD club It's not terrible (I can definitely still move) but it's been building up for a little while now & the MW diagnosed it as such this morning. I don't suppose I'd feel a fully fledged member of the thread if I'd missed out on the SPD I'm not too bothered though, really. It's annoying & makes the discomfort of late pregnancy that little bit less fun, but it's so near the end that it doesn't make much difference - & it's not like it's bad enough that it won't just go away once he's born. I'll just have to be good about wearing my support belt, I suppose. No more than 4 weeks left, no more than 4 weeks left...

Juwesm · 29/03/2009 20:53

I wouldn't have expected any less from you

BoffinMum · 29/03/2009 20:53

Oh no, not more SPD!

Schulte · 29/03/2009 20:58

The toenail painting at this point is all about using fairly neutral colours of course! Wouldn't attempt bright red at 8 months preggers

MIL coming down Tue to Thu to help with DD being at home - so nice of her but also makes me feel a bit stressed because I'll have to cater for her and I don't really feel like cooking in the evenings? Will have to discuss with DH how we can do this with minimum effort. Of course if she was my own mum, she'd bring food and cook the dinners but I don't think I can ask that of her. Such a shame that Schulte Mama is a thousand miles away

SpringySunshine · 29/03/2009 21:01

Yes, more SPD - I thought that was one thing I'd dodged! As I say, I'm not too upset about it. It's really not anywhere near as bad as anyone else's, I don't think. It hurts, but it's not too bad. It's only been building up for about 10 days & I'm due in 2 weeks, so it's not awful by any stretch of the imagination. I did pout at the MW a little bit, though. On the plus side, she went through my birthplan stuff & she seemed really supportive of everything & well aware of the birthing pools & also massively supportive of breastfeeding & so on - her attitude is apparently very typical of the hospital

& Ju, I'll take that in the nicest possible way

BabyBolat · 29/03/2009 21:03

Hello

gaaaaaaaah I am so uncomfortable!!! The baby is cooked - it has been inside for 40 weeks - that is it - it is time to come out - I do not want a burnt baby!!!

Springy - H&M had some adorable turn-up jeans with little shirts and vest tops, hoodies, Tesco had some nice cute little t-shirts and pumpkin patch has some nice outfits.

Poo for SPD - I am getting a bit of heartburn but nothing too serious! just feel very very fat and heavy!!!

Ginger - can't believe people got difficult with you!! Idiots!!

Trista how annoying, I would take it back and see if you can guilt them in to a brand new one on account of you having a baby and all!!!

tristaleejac · 29/03/2009 21:07

BB I would ask for a new one but they don't have this type in stock, I had to wait a few weeks for them to get this one specifically for me. So I'll just have to lump it and wait however long it takes. Pity they can't give me a courtesy camera while I wait though

BabyBolat · 29/03/2009 21:10

Oh that's a shame! They might be able to throw in a free memory card or something for all the hassle...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 29/03/2009 21:21

GInger - you're out of it now forget about it and enjoy your time off x

Springy - awwww feck welcome to the club ((hugs)) xx

BB - not long now it has to be soon for you xx

hmmmmmmmmmm all blissed out had a lovely long bath by candlelight

any more virtual vodka going trista?

Schulte · 29/03/2009 21:31

Yes Ginger that's outrageous - but just the kind of thing that would happen in my company as well. Oh well a few days and you will have forgotten that you've ever worked for them.

Springy sorry to hear about SPD, but as you say you don't have long to go and I guess you just HAD to find out what it's like eh?

Schulte · 29/03/2009 21:32

BB hang in there... he/she WILL come out!

tristaleejac · 29/03/2009 21:33

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2009 21:37

mathsmummy27 · 29/03/2009 21:57

So odd thinking at least one of us is likely to go to bed this week and wake up in labour! Last time I was out to dinner..wonder how it will kick off this time ..?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 29/03/2009 22:00

conkertree · 29/03/2009 22:00

yup mathsmummy -i've been thinking that - last time was just going to bed when my waters went pop - keep wondering if it will happen again every time i go to bed just now.

springy - Next have some lovely little boys outfits too usually. Every shop seems to have much more choice always with girls i think, but can usually find pretty cute things for boys too.

mathsmummy27 · 29/03/2009 22:05

were you in bed conker or standing up? seems to happen a lot when people are asleep..was wondering whether it is a pressure thing and if so how come it happens so often when pressure is off cervix?

tristaleejac · 29/03/2009 22:06

MM - I keep daydreaming about that too. With DS I was induced so didn't get the fun of 'how will I go into labour?' but this time I'm looking good for it happening naturally, so it's really exciting!
