Oh Bleu sorry but that is a bit off of your DH!!! you gave in on the ILs but to invite everyone around is silly!!

Well done on surviving - I always find comments like that are OK if you only have them for an hour or so but days of it would drive me insane!!! You are truly a saint!!!

Springy my period pain has intensified immensely today and am getting sporadic tightenings in between my bump and fanjo that feel like pulled muscle twinges but nothing regular in the slightest - am planning to go for a walk in the bit as feel gurgh and think being inside for days on end is not helping.

Bleuravin · 25/03/2009 10:44

lol bronze...I certainly do...only anything on my feet makes them unbareably hot...

I was thinking just a massive pot of pasta and the longest baguette I can find with some plain old cheese to cut off the chunk if they want it... Should I buy wine though? I only have a bottle of white...

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 10:44

Bleu re feet, soak them for 20 minutes and keep them raised and DONT YOU DARE COOK - if he invited them he can feed them or give them takeaway!!!

Kalikaroo · 25/03/2009 10:45

Morning all!

Just got back from seeing MW - bubs is fully engaged!!! Woo hoo!! Also I think I had a bit of a show this morning (it looked like biscuit coloured gunk???)

So, looks like I might be in the running!

Asked DH about the name Markos again last night and he thinks it's ok, but was a bit about the whole mule thing....

Hope you're all fine and bumps are behaving themselves.

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 10:45

DON'T BUY THEM WINE - Don't make them pasta you crazy woman you are too nice for your own good!

SpringySunshine · 25/03/2009 10:45

I just spoke to midwifery triage & she said to go in. Apparently it's odd that there would be multiple cases of bloody gunk that last for this long. We'll see.

I've been inside for days, too. Mostly because I've been tired / nesting / sick / suffering from diarrhoea & because I have no money to do anything fun anyway.

Actually, no wonder I'm turning into a grumpy cow

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 10:46

get you kali - when are you due? Look at you all leading the race...

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 10:46

Are you going in now?

bronze · 25/03/2009 10:47

dont sneeze- it hurts. I thought I was going to pop him out

Bleuravin · 25/03/2009 10:47

Oh Kali! How nice!

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 10:47

Yay for markos tho - go for ginger's approach, get him while he is vulnerable post birth and you will have your name !

bronze · 25/03/2009 10:48

Go in then springy

Bleuravin · 25/03/2009 10:48

Oh Bronze, that doesn't sound like fun at all...

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 10:48

Bleu, you will not be feeding these people. Marks and Spencers or Waitrose will. And your DH will be using his lunch hour to buy all the food. So there. Are you going to tell him, or shall I?

People, especially NHS people, support needed, DH and I are a bit scared. He has been back to the GP and his blood pressure is awful (190 over 116) despite the fact that he is very fit and his BMI is perfect, he doesn't smoke, he doesn't eat a lot of salt, he eats loads of good food, etc, and his BP hasn't gone down since this problem was first identified a fortnight ago. He is on the verge of being admitted to hospital with it. He has new beta blockers but not a lot of faith in them as the last lot didn't work. I am worried that he will be in hospital while I give birth, or have a stroke, or have a heart attack, and die. He feels like this too.

SpringySunshine · 25/03/2009 10:49

Yay Kali! Have that baby!

& yeah, I'm just going to get dressed & I'll be off, I suppose. Just as it starts raining for the first time in over a week

LuLuBai · 25/03/2009 10:53

Hola - crikey I come back to find you all married off to each other. V. surreal the April Mums!

(and fwiw I would make an excellent wife - I once ate a kebab in bed when v. v. v. drunk but that was a long time ago and I have repented. I have never eaten toast in bed, I am also apparently the only person in the household who knows how to operate the loo roll holder mechanism)

GingerSarah I think your naming strategy is absolutely spot on. I have tried to avoid discussing it but DH keeps bringing it up so I get dragged into the argument again. Last night he announced that he disliked the only vaguelly sensible name that we had on our mutual lists. And to add fuel to the fire his oldest, bestest mate from school has just given his son (born on Monday) a totally ludicrous name, so DH goes "If x can name his son y, then I can name my son Sword"

Swaliswan in answer to your Q - my DD will be 2 next week.

Just panicked and ordered her presents on Amazon. Then remembered that lovely nephew's birthday is the day after DDs - anyone have any good ideas for a present for a 6 year old boy. Ideally something I can order online and get delivered directly to him. Feeling v. uninspired. His older bro's birthday is a week later and I'm going to get him a year's subscription to National Geographic Kids magazine (when he grows up he wants to 'make tv programmes about animals').

bronze · 25/03/2009 10:53

No useful medical advice but please try and keep calm. You'll know him seeing you worry wont help cos youre so bloody clever but keep reminding yourself.

Juwesm · 25/03/2009 10:55

Boff - I would start with having a look here.

Beta-blockers are not usually used as part of the first-line treatment for straightforward hypertension anymore. The usual first choice (with me assuming your DH is under 55 and white) would be an ACE-inhibitor. Do you know why they chose a beta-blocker?

Kalikaroo · 25/03/2009 10:55

Oh Boffin - that sounds worrying! I don't know much about blood pressure conditions, but I hope the beta blockers will do some good.

BB - I'm due next friday (am currently 38+5). Not expecting much to happen just yet, but maybe next week? All my family have put 2 pound bets on when the baby will arrive and they've all gone for overdue, so I reckon I'm going to keep quiet about it and put my bet on as being sometime next week...

bronze · 25/03/2009 10:56

Lulu I wish I could help with the present ideas but am struggling with what to get my own one who'll be turning 6 in 10 days. ahh need to order now

Juwesm · 25/03/2009 10:56

Lulu - Sword ? Really???

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 10:57

Springy - Are you going now?

Bleu - Please get take-away. Let them bring their own booze!

Kali - Yay for your show.

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 10:58

LuLu, try the iBear (I think that is the name), which is a kiddie mp3 player that also plays Disney film clips, encased in a teddy bear. I have got that for DS2's birthday. It was about £30 off Amazon.

LuLuBai · 25/03/2009 10:58

Wow - congrats Kali. And fingers crossed for Springy.

Boff - sympathies - I know nothing about these things but would imagine worrying about it will exacerbate the problem. Can your DH take a few days off work (I think you mentioned his work load is particularly heavy at the mo, so possibly not). I think Juwesm is a pharmacist so might be able to enlighten you on beta blockers.

SpringySunshine · 25/03/2009 10:58

Boff, I don't know anything useful that you won't already know, I'm afraid. But I didn't want to just ignore your post due to my ignorance - you can have lots of 'unmumsnetty' hugs from me, instead xx
