Springy - I was 40+0. I had no other signs at all...

mumblemumhome4lunch · 25/03/2009 03:32

morning...........anyone up ??????

mumblemumhome4lunch · 25/03/2009 03:44

Boff - to answer your earlier question re breech HB.....they just "don't do" breech VB round here at all, even up at the hospital. Plus, with DS even 'though he was head down his head got stuck and I had a 36 hr labour so there was some concern expressed that DD being breech, if her head got stuck too could be much more of a problem !

mumblemumhome4lunch · 25/03/2009 03:49

can't believe I feel soo awake at this time of the morning, so annoying

woke about an hour ago wanting the loo and with period pains and baby dancing the fandango . Keep needing to pee too, about 4 times since then.

I have a nice warm milky drink - works for the kids some am trying it myself !

Still, at least both kiddies are at pre-school in the morning so I can always catch up then.....better make sure I set the alarm clock mind you or there could be trouble.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 25/03/2009 03:50

Think I might go and write my birth plan.........do something useful while I'm up

never know when it might be needed !

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 05:57

Morning

I feel bad for being so superficial and heartless to Springy now over the whole virtual wife thing. I should not have allowed myself to be distracted with virtual cheesecake. My apologies to Springy. After all she did rescue me from MM's flatulence.

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 06:06

Mumble, an area can't not 'do' VB of breech, breech is pretty normal!! They are very cheeky putting people through unnecessary surgery just for that (unless the mums want surgery, of course).

It was like that over here 15 years ago and the mws started to get very deskilled, until someone took it to the Department of Health or some such major body, and demanded a mw skilled at breech, which made the hospital provide someone and stop bullying women into surgery. But admittedly stuck heads are obviously more scary, so probably all different in your case.

My mws do loads of breech births and they said the women report them as being less painful, oddly enough.

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 06:58

Morning

No baby, I threw a MAJOR tantrum (and had visions of what my child may be like - not good) and flounced off to bed to where DH schlumped up AN HOUR later after he had spoken to a friend (not impressed) and was all cuddly and kissy like everything was fine (it wasn't). I did give in eventually and we had a semi serious conversation about it all to which we have decided on 6 names, Karahan (his favourite), Emin, Ebren, Evren, Ilay (pronounced Eli) and Tayan and we are going to decide once the baby is here whether we have one of those or a combination of two (which is probably the most likely).

We fell asleep about 8.30 tho and I had one of those really deep sleeps so am all out of sorts this morning and have the most immense lower back ache but think that may be from sleeping awkwardly.

Am now watching mistresses which is not good for positive mind-set!

Can't believe I missed the wife picking - Boff I don't know anyone who doesn't eat toast in bed - DH hates it and doesn't let me do it very often unless he has been really bad and then he ruins it by making me move just after I have finished so he can get rid of any crumbs!!
LOL MM you are too funny!!

Springy did you get some action last night on the baby front or nookie front?

Oooh Nutty on the one hand you could let MIL take you and in your pain and hormonal state you could say whatever you like and have a real rant and blame it on the hormones and pain of giving birth!!

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 07:36

I too am totally fed up of waking up each morning still pg.

The disappointment is a bit like how my more vocal older relatives have described waking up each morning to find themselves still alive IYSWIM.

The only good thing about being pg is not having a baby to look after. Otherwise it sucks.

Off to physio later ... then work lunch ... almost can't be bothered. I was hoping to be in labour today so I could cancel both.

BoffinMum · 25/03/2009 07:36

PS BB all those names are great.

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 07:56

Boff LOL you make me laugh 'I was hoping to be in labour today so I could cancel both' , I really don't think this group would be the same without you so I for one am grateful you are pregnant!

I wake up and forget for a second and then attempt to move my giant girth and then remember 'yes I am STILL pregnant!'

Thanks - I am still not sure on Karahan but he is so set on it - it is growing on me as in his accent it sounds much better but in the english accent it sounds like caravan! but am nothing close to being Ok with it!! Anyway could all be redundant if we end up with a DD!

AuldAlliance · 25/03/2009 08:00

Morning everyone,
Very impressed at all these signs of imminent birth; I have had no contractions at all, not even BH, no milk, no pelvic pain, no mucus plug. Think this birth may be like DS's: 1st ever contraction twinge at 5pm, baby born at 1am. If this one can shorten the interim from 8hrs to, say, 5, that'd be a bonus!

Have lowered my already low average of posts, but was in a bit of a slough of despond about DH's situation and thus ours. It's the idea of not having a home in 3 or 4 months that stresses me the most. And I hate having to deflect endless questions about how DH is enjoying his job and how our house-hunting is coming along. He has told his best mate and his dad and that's it...

MrsFossil: there are some hospitals here in France which have mobile epidural, thereby allowing you to walk about (a bit) during labour. They are rare, though. Not sure about low dosage ones.

DS has woken up. Have a good day, everyone.

AuldAlliance · 25/03/2009 08:04

BB: I think Carahan is OK. Reminds me more of Herbert von Karajan or of the name Callahan than of caravans. But if you don't like it at all, that's no good.

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 08:08

Morning Auld tis a difficult situation - has DH started looking elsewhere?

Auld that's it, it's OK in my mind but I don't love it - still we have decided on those and we agreed that we won't stress about it until the baby comes and we know if we have to make a decision - as it may be a girl in which case we are fighting for nothing!!!

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 08:08

Good morning

Fab unintentional post juxtaposition.

By SpringySunshine Tue 24-Mar-09 23:09:44
I've just been invited to bed, so I'll be off then!

By SmuttyNuttyTaff Tue 24-Mar-09 23:14:09
LOL tell me about it!!

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 08:13

Boff - I was told the same thing about breech delivery round here. Although they would have an almighty fight on their hands from me.

Electra - That's great that you have your Consultant's support. Here's to a wonderful homebirth.

Morning BB.

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 08:15

Mornign puzzle - I would fight tooth and nail too to avoid CS - I was born breech and turned out OK so I would want to at least try VB!

Oh yeah Electra that's fab news! such a weight off your mind!!

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 08:18

Auld - I'm like you, no signs until everything is in full swing. DD was about 8hrs from first mild twinge to delivery. I think she would have been quick had I been at home. Being in hospital slowed me right down.

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 08:19

quicker

BabyBolat · 25/03/2009 08:24

Puzzle I am sorry but as I am curled up here post-vomit holding my tummy I hate you and auld a little bit!! Out of pure jealousy of course....

PuzzleRocks · 25/03/2009 08:30

Ah yes, but you could turn out to be one of the two pushes and they are out brigade. Whereas of that 8 hours of mine, over 1.5 of them was spent fruitlessly pushing.
BTW, if you don't feel ready to push, ignore the midwfe telling you to, your body will let you know. She got me pushing way before I was ready to and I totally exhausted myself. I won't make that mistake this time.

AuldAlliance · 25/03/2009 08:40

BB: he hasn't had time to look as his boss is working him so hard. And there are very few firms which work in his field, which doesn't help.
What is a bugger is the specific status of advocates here in France; as a profession they are self-employed (and therefore pay huge contributions and taxes to the state, around 40% of their revenue), but unless they have the dosh and contacts to set up their own practice, they have to find one that will take them on as a "collaborator", which involves being nominally self-employed while actually working for someone else for a fixed rate (barely above the minimum wage at the start), with theoretical time to seek out their own clients and thereby increase their earnings, but actually none. His current boss signs all the work his "collaborators" do, taking the glory so they can't build up a reputation of their own.
DH calculated that between Dec and March he had earned his boss 100,000 euros in pre-tax income, for which DH was paid 6000 euros. After his 3 mths notice, he will not be unemployed or entitled to any dole because he's self-employed; he will just not have any work to do or anywhere to do any work he might manage to drum up. And since we are not from this area, and have no family here, he hasn't the network needed to attract clients and set up alone. The costs of renting an office, etc. would be exorbitant.
Yesterday his boss offered to sub-contract him a contract which DH won the firm - DH would do the work for 50% of the fee, without access to any of the firm's resources, while his boss would take 50% of the fee for signing the documents and getting the secretary to write accompanying letters, as well as profiting from the positive effects of any cases DH would win.
It sucks.
Sorry that was so long. This is what swirls round in my mind at 3am.
That took me ages to type, in between getting DS's breakfast, wiping his bum, dressing him, etc.

Schulte · 25/03/2009 08:44

Morning all! Wind howling in the street, I know I am supposed to be a grown up but I always find that sound quite scary.

Well here is another person who ABSOLUTELY does NOT want her baby to arrive before the due date. Need to get the CP scare out of the way first. Nursery phoned me yesterday to say they'd had two more cases. I have already found a place to quarantine DD if we need to keep her away from the baby - DH and her would stay at a friend's house in north London. But I'd be so gutted.

BB sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Still it can't be long to go now!

Breech birth sounds scary tbh - I still can't get over my MW saying she wasn't entirely sure which way round my baby was.

I don't eat toast in bed. I'd hate the crumbs I don't even like being brought a cup of tea in bed. As far as I am concerned, beds are not for eating!

Schulte · 25/03/2009 08:46

Oh and BB I love the name Evren.

surprisenumber3 · 25/03/2009 08:47

good morning all!

Well I have practically a whole thread to catch up on - well done ladies!

Really tired today, baby has been sticking needles in my cervix and hiccuping in my bum all night so that was nice!! Got a 30 min midwife appt later, not sure why it's so long..to discuss birthing plan I think.

Hope everyone is okay...off to read the zillions of posts
