how exciting that you can feel kicks - am very jealous!! Haven't felt a thing and we're due about the same time. Must be all the layers of fat it has to go through first!! Anyway, best of luck for a peaceful night!!!

morningpaper · 26/04/2005 18:58

Trice: so sorry about your awful experience - keep your feet up and remember we are thinking positive vibes for you and bubba. xxx

Joseyjo · 27/04/2005 10:54

can i join the "have thrown up in a shop" club?!
has anyone else had the experience that they feel fine, then suddenly they know they are going to throw up and then they do? i managed to make it to the toilet, but it was less than pleasant. i did have nausea earlier on (now 17 weeks) but it has gone away. is this likely to be a strange throw back from morning sickness, or is it a tummy bug? i only had cereal and decaff coffee for breakfast as normal.

triceratops · 27/04/2005 11:51

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling better this morning having spoken to about 20 relatives who all said they had the same thing happen to them and they were all fine. Ladies do seem to love to talk about ikky gynie problems. Bleeding has stopped and baby seems fine.

I threw up in M&S last time and in Waitrose a couple of weeks ago. I was feeling all faint so they made me sit in a wheelchair next to the evidence while they cordoned off the aisle and cleaned up. It was most embarrasing.

Lexie100 · 27/04/2005 16:35

not thrown up but feeling sick again at 15+5 weeks, ugh. Put on my maternity trousers for the first time today. A little big and make bump look huge but comfy.

Elf1981 · 27/04/2005 17:58

I threw up in Tesco and then last week in the street which was Think mine was a morning sickness throwback as it happened the other day again but luckily I was at home and in the bathroom. So much for being sick free from week 14.
I'm 16 weeks today. Got midwife appointment tomorrow, hopefully get my blood tests back to see about this slapped cheek syndrome thing.
Sooooooooo tired today.

how's everybody else?

YOKEFLEET · 27/04/2005 19:14

Cori - sorry to hear your sad news.

Trice - Hope your doing better now.

I had my triple test results back today, all seems to be ok. Will be 18 weeks on Sunday and sickness finally seems to be wearing off only once so far this week!! Next scan is on the 17th May and midwife now not until 2nd June.

Hope you are all "blooming"

mummygow · 27/04/2005 19:32

Hi evryone I've been totally exhausted for the last 2 days and keep having really uncomfortable twinges in side and lower back but on the positive side I have my scan on Friday - can't wait!! I will be 14 weeks tomorrow.

My tummy is is getting bigger but nowhere showing pregnant. Maternity clothes (at tightest fastner)are far more comfy than normal clothes as waist (sorry what waist) has gone, but still not gained any weight (bear in mind I'm 2stone overweight anyway) but dh keeps going on about it as I dont really eat that much (although all the threads I keep starting seem to be about me eating) is everyone else the same!!

So who is all being kicked now?? - Cant wait for that!!

Lexie100 · 27/04/2005 21:31

I was chatting to a friend of mine last night and she was saying about all the healthy things she was eating throughout her P and i must admit i haven't really worried about being healthy, more eating not to feel sick. I'm now feeling rather guilty at all the crap i have eaten over the past 4 months. I have taken vit pills but still. I had put on half a stone but that was three weeks ago and i haven't bothered to weigh myself since. Will do so tomorrow.

Hope you all stop throwing up soon.

Have loads of twinges in tummy but not felt a kick yet, can't wait.

jessicasmummy · 28/04/2005 07:48

hi guys.

sorry for the news cori... thinking of you.

trice - hang in there girlie!

ill be 15 weeks tomorrow, i am absolutely HUGE imo!! wearing maternity clothes only as they are just too comfortable!

Thought i felt a little kick the other day but then proceeded to fart like a goodun! so obviously wasnt! Cant wait for it though - i remember jessi's kicks vividly - then again, she is only 9 months old so not likely to have forgotten yet!

ROLL ON 21st OCTOBER!!!!!

SusiS · 28/04/2005 08:15

hey ladies!
feeling lots going on inside tummy! sometimes kicking feelings but mostly more like things moving about

not many symptoms though, only that i get exhausted really quickly!

on 10th may i'll have my 20 weeks scan
can't wait to find out what it is!!!!!!!!!!
since it's in the afternoon dp can come with me!

jolovett · 28/04/2005 09:26

I think we're all building up to the excitement of the 20 week scans now - mines on 17th May so just under 3 weeks now!

After the frantic movements on Tuesday, yesterday was quite calm, only one or two kicks. Heard the hb on the doppler strong last night and when I pressed it down JJ kicked it twice! Must have been thinking leave me alone I'm trying to sleep or something.

At the moment you can't feel the kicks very strongly on the outside so dh is waiting eagerly to feel a good kick.

Oh and we bough our pram on the weekend - at least thats one thing out of the way, got such a busy summer ahead of us I'm afraid we won't have enough time to get everything ready. I work full time and run a business filming wedding videos on the weekend, plus we're trying to build our house! I tell you, we never do things by half.

How's everyones headaches? Did anyone ask about the iron tablets? I'm still feeling brilliant at the mo so I'm counting my blessings as so many of you are having a rough time with the sickness and everything. Hope it will get better soon.

mishmash2 · 28/04/2005 10:21

I don't have my scan until I'm 22 weeks - not fair!!! Seems ages to wait until 1st June. I haven't felt anything - am very disappointed as want to be pestered by the bump!

What pram did you buy JoLovett? Did you do a lot of research? There seems to be so many to choose from - we haven't looked yet but did get a rough idea on the price....!

SusiS · 28/04/2005 10:43

yep, pram decisions! we've got to get a double one - noooo, no twins
but ds will be 17months and still needs a pushchair

but which oooooone????

we'll be having a look at a 'phil&ted explorer double' - saw someone on the street using those and they just look fab!! but expensive

OP posts:
Lexie100 · 28/04/2005 10:48

haven't even thought about getting a pram thing yet! MIL says she will get it for us as a pressy which causes all manner of problems on how much we can spend. I really want a 3 wheeler one so i can walk the dog and push the baby.

on the weight issue i have put on 4 lb.s now. How's everyone else doing?

also my memory has uped and left, i can't remember anything.

Lexie100 · 28/04/2005 11:22

ok guys need HELP.

I have been looking at pushchairs. Where on earth do you start. What is a stilly amount of money to spend and what can you spend to get a decent chair. What are these all in one things, any good - recommend???

What does it mean when you can't use it till your child is 3 months (what do you do for this time)?

Anyone

ruthiemum · 28/04/2005 11:35

Hi Lexie - I am 17 weeks pg with No 2. I had an all in one pram with DS1 and they were quite useful but really bulky. I think I am getting a three wheeler one this time and a lightweight one so I can fold away easily - they take up so much room in your house. Think depends on how often you will use it. Have you had a look around?

SusiS · 28/04/2005 11:39

don't get my started on pushchairs!
well, 2(3)in1 means it's a travel system (pushchair+carseat / pram)

for ds we've got a 2in1; really handy when you can stick the car seat on the pushchair (wouldn't bother with the carbase; really easy to mounth the car seat as it is)

re 3/4 wheeler: if possible go and try some at a shop. i found the 3s are quite heavy and bulky for the carboot! that's why we settled for a 4!

then if you find one you like look at kiddicare or ebay if you can get it cheaper - or even local paper - not so sure about the ones with car seats though! shouldn't be used really (u just don't know if it has been in an accident; unless of course you trust the person)

i also found now ds is 1yr i'd like a stroller; the pushchair is just sooooooo bulky!!!!! so you might consider that too (think there are already stroller suitable from birth)

oh, and for the first few months you could always use a sling! daddy will like that

Joseyjo · 28/04/2005 11:54

hello!
feeling better today - not nearly so wobbly, but i will keep you informed if the shopping and vomiting thing starts again!!

i think the reason some prams/pushchairs say 3 months plus is partly because they dno't have neck control and partly because they are supposed to spend as much time as possible flat to help their backs develop properly. a new born suitable pram will go back so that it is totally flat.

i am considering getting a 3-in-1 which has click on car seat, pushchair with adjustable back positions and a carrycot for the first bit. i am working on the principle that i can use the carrycot as a sleeping device for visiting int he beginning as well. does anyone have any opinions on this?
the one i want is 3 wheeler and loads of cash, but pil are paying for it so that is ok!!!

has anyone else started the nursery yet? i am really struggling to find sensible furniture that is going to grow with the baby. i don't want to just get pretty nursery specific stuff that costs a small fortune. any tips would be gratefully received as i am down to ikea and pax as my only option at the moment!!

have my next scan tomorrow and i can't wait. am hoping for more 3d pictures if i am lucky and maybe even the sex!!

will let you know what i find out! although i don't have permission to reveal the sex to anyone - not even virtual friends... but i will work on that.

Joseyjo · 28/04/2005 11:59

also forgot to say - i have a confirmed day nursery place booked from the beginning of June 2006!! Feels a bit scary to be planning that far in advance, but there is a ratio of 8 babies to every nursery place in my area. a bit mad really. I am only planning to go back to work part time, but we will have to see whether dh and work will support it!!!

ruthiemum · 28/04/2005 12:03

Can't believe you are starting on the nursery already, can't even think that far! I think I am just going to get the basics for the nursery like cot, black out blinds, and then add on it. It's really exciting though isn't it to look at all the shops with nursery furniture in, I love it.

Joseyjo · 28/04/2005 12:29

well i had a lot of stuff ready for my son, so i am ahead of the game on that one! the decoration is all done, the curtains are up and i have a cot and a changing table. still need storage though so that i have somewhere to put the stuff i keep sneaking into the house!!
i am going to an NCT nearly new sale next weekend, so i will no doubt come back from that laden with stuff!! if you have one locally they are supposed to be great for picking up good quality second hand toys/clothes and equipment. i am going to be on the hunt for an electric breast pump and various other bits. should be fun!!

ruthiemum · 28/04/2005 12:35

I will have a look at that, do you know if they do bulkier items, I really want a rocking chair and stool but they are so expensive and DH says they are waste of money - what do they know! Well I want to find out the sex of the baby but DH doesn't, so I told him that if they can tell me I will be shopping and putting it all at my mums house - just can't wait for 20 week scan just so I can relax a bit more and start looking forward to things, i.e. shopping!

triceratops · 28/04/2005 12:43

I bought a travel system (GRACO) last time and it was OK until it fell to bits (literally) after only 6 months. It was really heavy and I won't be getting one again. This time I am going straight for the Maclaren ultra (second hand) which I think is OK from birth. I am not keen on spending too much on prams etc as I have an anti snob thing going. I am going to buy an amby baby hammock instead of a cot (my niece is still using our last cot which was from Ikea, £50, and still looks nice). My dh won't let me buy anything until 8 months as he knows he won't be able to get the car in the garage once I start.

alterego · 28/04/2005 12:59

SO sorry to hear your news Cori. You must be devastated.

Finally back online after moving house. Still loads of boxes everywhere but beginning to find my way around - and I've made a note of where all the baby clothes are We're planning to have an extension built so no nursery planning here. We've got the cot etc and baby will sleep with us until its room is built!

Feeling quite well now. The occasional low-level headache. Otherwise no obvious symptoms (except needing the loo all the time) which makes me slightly nervous. Still no news of booking appointment and I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow. Anyone else not know when their booking appointment is?
