Elf1981 · 21/04/2005 22:15

Yes, it's my first pregnancy (can't keep up either, love that stats thread, very handy!) so it all new territory and a bit "hmmm, what's 'normal'?"
I do find that lying down and rubbing my belly helps. Doesn't happen very often or for long as I've not been too worried.

Read in my boots week by week guide to pregnancy that from week 8 some women experience extra discharge and the only advice was to use pantyliners if it was irritating! Fair enough!

mummygow · 21/04/2005 22:26

Elf just found stats thread - great can try and keep up now.

Cant stop buying pregnancy magazines again - I think I just like to make sure doing everything right again. I think you def suffer memory loss when you have a baby because I really do need to do all that reading again.

Oh meant to ask is anyone itchy - cant stop scratching esp boobs.

SusiS · 22/04/2005 08:57

morning girls!
had a quite good night actually! ds did cry out a few times but settled himself within a few minutes. i seem to be able to tune out nowadays! (quick listen if everything's allright and back to sleep ) AND he slept till 6.45!!!! (normally 5.30-6) - very chuffed and quite well rested today

looks like another sunny day here! once dp and ds are up we will go for a walk!

lol re 'trying not to buy too many magazines'! yep, i am trying very hard too! haven't been too bad so far and i even dug out all the ones from last year to have a read. and all my books too - having a newborn again is as scary as the first time somehow (also my last one was only a year ago!)

elf: there will be lots of niggles and pains over the next months! just remember everything inside you has to find a new spot due to baby needing more and more room! just try to change position or a warm bath or rubbing where it hurts.
and sorry about your 'incident'!!! hope that was the last one for you

i am doing quite ok atm, just getting exhausted really quickly and it's getting harder and harder when i try to get up from the floor again (ds needs me to play on the floor with him alot!)

lexie: did you get to see someone????? let us know

Lexie, hope everythings ok and Elf sorry to hear about your experience on the way to work. I had sickness like this with my ds and it really is horrible, there is nothing you can do to stop it. Let's just hope it wears off soon. Had my blood tests yesterday so it's an anxious wait for results. Hope everyone has a nice day today as weather seems to be fab

CPT · 22/04/2005 10:15

hello ladies Sorry I have been away for a while - but now I'm back. Just as an update....at 7wks we found out we were expecting twins...but sadly last week we heard one of the babies decided not to stay. They went away not long after that scan apparently ( no symptoms or signs of it so was a bit of a shock) But after few days we are now feeling more +ve and very happy that mini is doing just fine (nuchal fold scan super result) Mini will just have someone watching out for them now xx Then had a v tiny bit ?bleeding a few days later ?as a result of the internal scan...but a panic none the less on a sunday morning so on call GP was great and got a scan sorted - saw mini again kicking and waving away which was big relief
Now 13wk4days and doing ok - know what those of you who say they feel yuk mean - I have only had bits of nausea etc but now feel v tired and sick more than before Hurrah its friday.

Well hope you are all ok and will be less on a me post next time!

Not very good for a lot of you at the moment is it! Hope you all get better soon - I'm so glad I'm over the first few months. I've been fine for a good month now so hopefully it will carry on for the rest of the pg!

Just came back from my 2nd lot of blood tests. They seem to want to batter me up there - the 1st lot I had 2 weeks ago they managed to spill my blood everywhere in the room, including all over me. Then today I had a student nurse trying to take my blood pressure - 9 attempts and 2 very dead aching arms later she gave up and my midwife had to do it! All my results are clear from last time and I don't have to take any iron tablets (thank goodness from what I've heard about them). I don't have to go back there now until 22nd July.

Going shopping with my mother tomorrow so gonna look at loads of baby stuff and maternity clothes - can't wait, its the 1st time we've been able to go together. Much better when I go with my mother than dh, we can both cluck over everything together.

Oh by the way if anyone is on msn feel free to chat anytime, my id is [email protected].

jolovett · 22/04/2005 15:21

Oh by the way - did anyone see that drama "Born with two mothers" last night on Channel 4. Thought it was really good - scary to think what could happen though.

Lexie100 · 22/04/2005 21:21

I think i could write a book about my life at the moment. Having fallen down the stairs and knocked myself out on tuesday i managed to pour boiling hot water over my leg and bottom of my tummy yesterday. God it hurt and now it's blistered. Spent the afternoon in A and E to have a burns dressing put on and told i'm not allowed a shower till sunday when they want to check it again. Baby should be fine with all my clumsyness . Anyone else a little out of sorts?

On the itchy front. I have very dry skin, especially my back and yep loads of discharge.

bonniej · 23/04/2005 08:31

so sorry about your news CPT Good news on the nuchal scan result though and let's hope the rest of your pg goes smoothly, you deserve it.

Lexie, you're going to have to be more careful!! I know what you mean about clumsiness though, I'm terrible at the moment and also continually doing and saying stupid things. I think my brain's taken a vacation. At least I'm a SAHM and don't have to worry about a job, I find it hard to cope with a shopping list at the moment

Looks like another nice day today, I'm feeling lucky to be pregnant and glad to be alive and am looking forward to taking dd to the park later to feed the ducks. Have a nice day everyone

Elf1981 · 23/04/2005 09:38

Was sick again Fridy, but at least I was at work and managed to make it to the toilet!! I think there is a link between my sickness starting up again and taking these multi-vitamins. I have taken them for three days - one after my dinner, and the other two in the mornings. I think it's odd that I was sick on both days when I took them in the morning. So I'm now switching to take them in the afternoon with my tea. Hopefully that will help. Though haven't had one this morning and am feeling a bit squiffy...

Going to see three houses today in the hopes of moving. Very excited about them. We're currently in a two bed, and would like to move to a three bed before baby arrives. Not that this house is too small, but it would be nice to do it before the baby comes rather than afterwards.

Hope everybody has a good day. I'm off to have a lovely warm bath then off to see these houses and babysitting this evening (I'm a bit out of pratice!!)

Elf xxxx

morningpaper · 23/04/2005 15:19

CPT: So sorry to hear your news. (((hugs))) to you. I'm sure your little angel is being well looked after somewhere and making sure that your little baby is getting bigger and healthier.

Sorry to hear about all the vomiters!!!! I'm actually feeling much better - still nauseous but not retching - hurrah! And I've been eating loads of fruit and veg so I'm not feeling so bad about my lack of multivits! xxx

cori · 23/04/2005 16:44

I have been feeling very well over the past couple of days, the exhaustion seems to be fading. I am starting to fit in to maternity clothes and look pregnant, not just fat. However I have just started to have these blinding headcahes. I went to pub after work, had a half a pint, and have headache ever since. I cant seem to get rid of it. Panadol seems ineffective.ANyone else experiencing this?

Elf1981 · 23/04/2005 17:09

I've been having bad headaches for the past couple of days. I've found that sleeping helps, but luckily it's my first pregnancy so it isn't a major problem for me to have a kip in the evening / weekends.

Bit worried at the mo (what else is new for me?!) becuase my goddaughter who is two has got slapped cheek syndrome / fifth disease depending on what you want to call it. I thought that it wasn't contagious, but according to a thread I set up earlier, it's a risk as it can bring on miscarriage before 20 weeks. Very worried. Got my midwives appointment on Thursday but will probably give her a call Monday to see what I can do (only seems like they can give me a blood test to see if I had it as a child)

SusiS · 23/04/2005 19:54

week 16:

Your baby: His muscles are responding to his brain so he?s having fun kicking and rolling over ? though it?s still early you may feel him move now. He?s over 11cms long and weighs 80g.

Your body: You have four more pints of blood in you now, which will make your hair feel thicker and more lustrous, and your skin look glowing and healthy. It may also make you feel hot.

What to do this week: Pamper yourself. Now you?re feeling better give yourself a treat ? get your gorgeous new hair cut in a funky style or buy some massage oil and ask your partner to give you a relaxing massage.

Sorry to hear your news CPT

Ouch Lexie, hope you are okay now and everything heals okay. Take care of yourself. I have found I am having to slow down a bit and concentrate more on even trivial things to prevent having 'mishaps'

I have been getting bad headaches too. Are you drinking enough water. I'm finding I am having to drink more than usual at the moment, and drinking seems to ease the headache.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend in the lovely sun-shine

jolovett · 24/04/2005 10:54

Lexie - can't believe the week you've had - I think you deserve a nice rest so take it easy for a while.

Went shopping yesterday - Dorothy Perkins is my new godsend, spent loads on maternity clothes in there and even had some bargains in the sale! Bought some little pressies for the baby and had a demonstration of the pram we want - we're going to go pick it up this afternoon (didn't have room in the car yesterday due to all the shopping bags). Back was killing me walking around all day so I guess I can't blame it on the office chair anymore.

mummygow · 24/04/2005 14:03

CPT thinking of you - take care

Lexie you take care too!!

13week 4days and was retching again this morning. Had a really sore back (up at my shoulder) on Friday and had to lie on couch all day but its fine now.

Went shopping yesterday and bowling last night so was shattered today - big sis came and took dd at 11.30 this morning and I jumped back into bed and didnt surface until 1.30 - quick tidy downstairs (get upstairs later) and on here to see how you are all doing!!!

morningpaper · 24/04/2005 14:06

I think I want to buy a baby hammock - had so many problems with dd wanting to be held all the time, and really regretted not getting her one of those swing-things, which we thought would have helped. I think a baby hammock might be a good investment... hmmm...

mummygow · 24/04/2005 14:13

I had a swing it was fab - put it on for half an hour and get some housework done - it was great!!

bonniej · 24/04/2005 17:15

BARGAIN!!! Found a shop near me that sells end of line stock from other shops, nothing wrong with it, it's just stuff they don't sell in their shops anymore. They had a GREAT maternity section and I managed to get 6 pairs of maternity trousers (a mix of smart, casual and jeans, all really trendy) and three maternity tops. It all came to......£30!!! Couldn't believe it, nothing like a bargain to put you in a good mood I feel like I've got a whole new wardrobe and it's all so comfy!

cori · 24/04/2005 20:49

I wondered if that was the problem. I am trying to drink more. I seem to have a low lying headache most of the time. My pregnancy book advises to consult GP if headache lasts more than a couple of days. I have had it on and off since friday. Should I get it checked out?

Elf1981 · 25/04/2005 06:56

I've been buying maternity clothes from Ebay. Got a right set of bargains going on at the moment!

Going to ring midwife this morning about this slapped cheek syndrome, to see if I am at risk.

I'm 15 + 5 and luckily sickness seems to have eased, especially since I stopped taking my multivitamins. My mum pointed out that it doesn't matter if I cant keep fruit or veg down, when she was pregnant with my sister she ate nothing but sour apples for the whole nine months because she couldn't face anything else... and my sister was 8lbs 8. I'm not majorly worried, as I did take folic acid for about four months before getting pregnant, right up to 14 weeks. Will just have to force myself to try and eat a little better... unless they invent a chocolate bar that has good nutritional values in the next few months!!

Elf1981 · 25/04/2005 07:03

Cori, if I were you, I'd get it checked out. Firstly for piece of mind, and secondly because headaches can be so debilitating to your day and getting any sort of advice about them will be a help.

I had one that lasted most of Saturday (woke up with it) and only vanished when I slept for another three hours. But that's the way my headaches always work. It's possible that you do need more liquids which may help.

SusiS · 25/04/2005 08:39

morning girls

cori: i had bad headaches last week; lasted 4 days (days AND night) very annoying! i did take paracetemol if it got too painful but then it suddenly was gone
so hope your's will go soon too!!!!
(i also made an effort to drink more)

elf: glad your sickness is getting better! how about fruit juices??? or milkshakes with fruits?

wow bonnie!! that sure was a great deal!!!!

yep, i was thinking about getting a swing! especially having 2 little monsters then

cpt: so sorry to hear that!! but i am sure lo will look out for your baby now

lexie: having a better start of the week????

Lexie100 · 25/04/2005 10:59

Morning all,

Weekend much less eventful, thankfully. I think last week gave me just the shock i needed to stop doing so much.

None of my clothes fit anymore and maternity too big i hope i get bigger soon so i can actually fit something.

Went to an NCT sale on Sat. it was really good. Picked up a sling thing that you are all on about for £5 and a few baby clothes. Hopeing to borrow loads from friends so didn't go too mad.

Hope people's heads get better.
