Sorry to hear about your job Lexie. It's a bitch when employers know they've got you in a no win situation.

With regards to backache, I suffered terribly with it early on. My instint was to lie down etc but I found that sitting up with pillows propped behind me helped keep my spine straight and help take some of the ache away. Also, I sleep on my side now with one leg crossed over my body resting on a spare pillow. It's actually quite comfey, and it does help me. It was getting quite bad, I was tossing and turning in the night and feeling my back ache when I moved. Grrr. Looking forward to the last three months being doubled over like an old lady!

Hope you're all well,

Elf xxxx

SusiS · 20/04/2005 20:43

oh yes backache!! i sleep with loads of pillows - one to support my back and one for bump and one between legs
i do have to turn over alot during the night. but getting used to it now

Thinking about pushchairs?! I had dh down in the cellar dragging our old one up when I was 7 weeks pg! Decided there and then it was too heavy and cumbersome to bother with again. Then had a week when I thought I was getting a bit ahead of myself, then was so sick couldn't do anything for a while and now, in the last week I have bought a second hand mountain buggy from Justine(mumsnet), and a second hand carrycots and maternity jeans from eBay!! Strike while the iron's hot, I say!

Dh thinks it's a reaction to what happened to me last pg. I was immobile from about 5.5 months so am desperately trying to get everything done in case I'm confined to sofa or bed again. Had busy day at work today then went to the supermarket. My pubic bone has been aching all night now and I'm cacking myself that the spd will kick off again soon .

Moomin · 20/04/2005 21:57

ooo and by the way, me Farmer Giles are playing me up already. They actually woke me up at 5am they were itching so badly . Anyone else able to empathise?

Lexie100 · 21/04/2005 09:50

Morning all. Reassurance needed...

Fell down the stairs last night, nose bleed, passed out. Went to see dr and he thinks all is ok but couldn't hear a heart beat. I'm 15 weeks tomorrow. I thought he should have heard one. He says not to worry, ha ha very funny. I'm panic stricken. He then says do you feel pregnant. Well all sickness gone and not feeling too bad so now really worried. Those who use doppler things when did you hear your babies HB???????

mishmash2 · 21/04/2005 10:01

Lexie - you poor thing. Can you go and get a scan done at your hospital? I know in London there are some where you can walk in and queue up. At least that would reassure you? Have you seen a midwife yet? Can you call her? I can't believe your dr wasn't more sympathic - ridiculous. Thinking of you and keep us posted.xx

Don't have midwife as haven't had booking in appointment. It's a week tomorrow. I have booked in to see my dr for an antienatal check up next week. I'm sure all is fine as had nuchal and baby doing really well only 3 weeks ago and no blood, backache or cramps. Might see if i have a friend with a dobbler to see if i can hear a HB myself. Otherwise i think i might do a walk in scan. Anyone know if the do they do them at kings?

It never rain but it pours. Might even call MIL to help us out with cleaning the house for the estate agents tomorrow. Can't face doing anything but putting feet up and reading a book in the garden today. Luckily DH had booked the afternoon of work.

Sari · 21/04/2005 11:00

Lexie - I know it's impossible not to worry but do try your best not to. Something similar happened to me at the weekend in that ds2 jumped on me and jabbed into my stomach really hard. I felt a flurry of movement from the baby and then nothing for a couple of days. I was really worried and asked the midwives to listen for a heartbeat when I saw them. They said it was so hit and miss at 15 weeks that I ran the risk of being even more worried if they couldn't hear anything. So they didn't. They said that unless I had had pain or cramps or bleeding there was really nothing to worry about. The baby is very well protected in there.

I haven't really posted on here but have been keeping up with the thread and how you are all doing. Anyway, I might as well say hello properly. Baby is due on 10th October and will be my third - I have two boys so far: ds1 will be 5 in June and ds2 3 in August. I can't imagine that I will have anything other than a boy this time round!

jessicasmummy · 21/04/2005 11:09

pass some of the boy baby dust this way! praying for a boy!

triceratops · 21/04/2005 11:29

I can empathise with the back ache thing. I bought a memory foam matress topper thing from physiosupplies.com which is like sleeping on a cloud. It is heaven and I have been able to dispense with all the pillows I was using. It was about £80 and I would recommend it unreservedly.

I'm going to centre parcs for the weekend. I can't wait, even though I can't go in the bubble pools, or horse riding, and I'm not really looking forward to the cycling uphill. Ds loves it soooo much he is beside himself with excitement

jolovett · 21/04/2005 11:32

Lexie - hope you can find out soon. Hearing the hb so early on depends on the position of the baby, sometimes we can hear it, sometimes we can't on our doppler. If it's during the day and I've been busy we can never hear it, but when I'm just going to bed and all relaxed we can hear it more clearly.

Let us know if you get a scan - I'm sure everything is fine, there's no signs to say otherwise. I know in our hospital if something like that happens we can go to casualty and ask to see a midwife - if you haven't been booked in there's a unit called the early pregnancy unit that deals with all things like this. Don't know if this is the same everywhere. I went there when I had spotting at 4 weeks and they were brilliant.

Went to my usual aerobics class last night and had a huge surge of energy afterwards - I was ready to go finish the bricking on my house! Usually knackered after it - hope this is the 2nd trimester energy surge kicking in!

Medical and more blood tests tomorrow morning, never mind booked myself in for a haircut later in the afternoon to treat myself.

morningpaper · 21/04/2005 13:38

Lexie, try not to worry (yeah right!) I think the doppler at this stage largely depends on how expert the person is using it - and a doctor is probably a bit crap at it as he wouldn't do it very often. If you are at all worried I would insist on seeing a midwife for her to listen in, either at the surgery or the hospital. My care has been so excellent so far (quick appointments, really helpful midwives) and when I was concerned about spotting a couple of weeks ago I rang the community midwives and they said if I wanted to they would send someone TO MY HOUSE within a couple of hours.

Jockey · 21/04/2005 14:40

Lexie - poor you. I had quite a bad fall with ds2 & he was absolutely fine. I was reassured that babies are surprisingly well protected. Do keep pushing though until you get the reassurance you need! Putting your feet up won't do any harm at all - in fact that sounds like a rather good idea...

Best wishes xxx

jessicasmummy · 21/04/2005 15:19

someone please tell me they feel like XXXX - sorry to be blunt, but after no morning sickness or anything, i am now hitting 14 weeks and feel terrible! steaming headaches and feeling sick everytime i lay down! HELP! PLEASE!

Lexie100 · 21/04/2005 19:32

Dear all. thank you so much for all your messages. I have decided not to worry and put my worries into getting the house ready for the estate agents tomorrow. I know it sounds odd but at least it keeps me occupied. With no cramps or bleeding i think i'm ok. I saved myself from falling on my tummy by hittiing my head which caused the nose bleed and passing out. Isn't it funny how everyone worries about you and all you care about is the baby. I wouldn't have cared if i'd broken my arm as long as the little one is ok.

SusiS · 21/04/2005 19:34

sorry to hear that some still don't feel too well

i am not too badly; just had a headache for good 4 days/nights! today is the first day i woke up without it *wohoooooooo

and don't want to go into details but veeeeery runny nr.2 today - and strangly black (i put it down to iron tablets i have to take?)

hope you all feel better really soon

Piggiesmum · 21/04/2005 20:47

lol at all the pickled beetroot craving. Same here. Pickled beetroot sales must be through the roof.

I have back-ache too, it comes in twinges and seems to be set off randomly for no apparent reason. Oh well

Lexie - sorry to hear about your fall. I'm sure everything will be okay, but hope you can get some proper reassurance soon.

jessicasmummy - i know what you mean. I am having monster headaches and have times when i feel sicker now than ever before. Just when we thought we were past all that.

Another thing. I am okay while I'm sitting down but as soon as I stand up i get that desperate for the loo feeling, even if i only went 5 minutes previously. I spend half my life sleeping and sitting on the loo (sometimes at the same time!)

Elf1981 · 21/04/2005 21:17

Lexie, hope everything is well. It's awful when doctors tell you not to worry when you've gone past hysteria and can see no return! You should be able to call your local hospital to talk to the maternity ward and see if they are able to help - getting you in for a scan / correct use of a doppler! Keep us posted, sending positive vibes to you.

Today was

Threw up on the way to work. Four times In the middle of the city centre With people walking all around me

I am so ashamed. Sat down and whimpered for ten minutes at a table outside a local Subway sandwich place. Took me that long to be able to face the rest of the walk to town.

And do you know what... not one miserable little effing person asked me if I were okay!! Probably thought I was hungover or something!

I almost died when somebody at worked said "and what were you doing this morning?" until I worked out he'd seen me window shopping from across the street about 15 minutes before!

mummygow · 21/04/2005 21:31

elf poor you - i threw up at a bus shelter in city centre last week and just prayed that I wouldnt pee myself lol

I'm akso getting lower back pains - terrible discharge and random aches in tummy.

I'm 13 weeks today and cant wait till scan next week - how has everyones scans gone this week.

Any update on best vitamin to take now past 12 weeks?

mummygow · 21/04/2005 21:41

sorry everyone just went back into old thread and got the messages about multi-vitamins will have to come on more often to keep up to date.

Totaly forgot that H&M do maternity wear - cant wait to have a look!!

mummygow · 21/04/2005 21:45

Jessicasmummy just getting round to readin thread from beginning. I'm just back at end of old thread and I was asking if you were still around

Elf1981 · 21/04/2005 21:48

Mummygow lol about your comment about not peeing yourself in the bus shelter. Cheered me up anyway!

Second comment about discharge and random aches in tummy - so it's not just me?!! I havent posted the comment as yet, but I was going to ask! Past couple of weeks or so I've had more discharge than usual. And every so often I feel like a ping in my tummy. I'm pretty sure it's not babies first movements that I'm feeling. Thought that was more of a fluttering?

mummygow · 21/04/2005 22:08

elf is this your first preg - sorry for not knowing - will have to try and catch up with evryones stats - well anyway this is my second and just going on my first I definately think the pains are to do with position of baby - not necessarily that it is part of the baby but where all my bits are moving when baby is moving because it is an ache that I have to rub and it reminds me of when I was bigger and had a foot or fist kicked or punched up agaginst my side.

And as for discharge it actually made me sick the other day and I dont remember that from 1st time but my friend reassured me by saying she had it really bad.
