have had a phone call from hospital this morning.
I have a slightly high risk of downs, 1 in 230. A slightly raised risk for spina bifida. Also have a raised risk of developing preeclampsia and something else, Bloody hell Am going for a scan this afternoon.
Cant take this all in.

mishmash2 · 25/04/2005 13:01

Oh Cori - poor you - let us know how you get on and best of luck.

I had my booking in appt yesterday - it's nice to finally be on someone's books at 16.5 weeks! Heard the heartbeat which was so exciting!

CPT · 25/04/2005 14:43

Afternoon Ladies
Hope you are all ok
Cori - you take care - Hope scan went really well today - Thinking of you
Elf - Hope all is ok with you too.

I'm 14wks tomorrow and having a bad day. Just can't help thinking something is wrong with mini me. So silly I know when I have no symptoms of concern etc. I am not small normally, have lost weight just prior to and during preg and have a tummy normally! I just would love a bump - things have changed (tummy feels different for sure, boobs (never small!) feel bigger etc, trousers too small but just no defined bump! Had nausea, tiredness etc. Why do I worry dso much?!! Having lost twinny 2 with no symptoms its makes me scared I guess. I have my booking scan 1 week tomorrow. Lets hope I start to worry less then!!

Hope you are having good days ladies

I am suffering from lots of headaches too! Not bad ones, just niggling ones.

CPT: sorry you are feeling down! I hope your scan gives you reassurance. I've had lots of friends who didn't show until very late on. Everyone varies so much. xxx

Lexie100 · 25/04/2005 17:57

Cori - hope all is well. Did you get a scan?

Elf1981 · 25/04/2005 18:14

Cori - how did you get on?

Rang midwife this morning about my goddaughter having slapped cheek syndrome. Was told I had to get in right away and have a blood test. So I left work at lunch and was back in an hour. Must admit surgery were lovely, as soon as I walked in they took my blood and said they'd try to have the reults by my appointment on Thursday. If my blood shows I am immune, it means I had it as a kid. If not, I'll need a further blood test in a week or so to see if my blood then shows immunity, in which case I caught it off my god daughter and I'm not sure what that means. Think it might mean extra attention through the pregnancy. A bit worrying to say most people have never even heard of slapped cheek syndrome.

Hope all of you are well. I'm a little tired today, and rather annoyed as I lost out to a gorgeous maternity skirt I was bidding on by a penny!! I put in a maximum bid of £10 more than the current bid as the item finished while I was at work and I've been outbid. Grrrrr. DH has promised we can go maternity clothes shopping. I'm in desperate need of skirts and trousers, as seem to have loads of tops!

Elf1981 · 25/04/2005 18:21

CPT - I also worry that something is wrong with Mini Me. I'm eagerly awaiting to feel movements for the first time. That must be great!
I wouldnt worry too much about showing - you may show later than other people and at least it stops you getting really annoyed at getting stopped every ten paces being asked when you're due! I'm not showing yet, just look a bit fatter than usual, but tummy does feel less squishy and a bit funny. DH is very quick to offer to measure my boobs to confirm they've grown!

cori · 25/04/2005 19:13

Cori - you poor poor thing. Huge hug to you and your DH.xxx

triceratops · 26/04/2005 10:01

Terrible news Cori. I am so sad for you.

Lexie100 · 26/04/2005 10:04

listening to radio 4 now (10.00). there is a prog on asthma and pregnancy is any one is interested.

triceratops · 26/04/2005 10:07

I had a haemorrage over the weekend, some of the placenta has come away and caused big scary bleeding and ambulance trip to hospital. Baby seems to be hanging in there so far and things seem to be settling down a bit now. [very tense and worried emoticon].

mishmash2 · 26/04/2005 10:18

Tricatops - you poor thing - do hope the baby hangs in there. Must have been very scary for you. Have you had a scan? What do they advise next?

jolovett · 26/04/2005 10:32

So sorry to hear your news Cori - my heart goes out to you and your dh.

Triceratops - hope everything works out alright - the same thing happened to my s-i-l four times during her pg, she's now 28 weeks and everything has settled down now and everything is fine with the baby - it's a scary time to go through, they told her she had lost the baby twice - just goes to show they ain't going anywhere if they don't want to.

For those of you suffering from headaches/migraines - are you taking iron tablets? I went to aquanatel last night and a few of the girls were saying that the midwife put them down to the tablets and told them to stop taking them. I'm not taking any and I'm not suffering from headaches, my s-i-l is though and she has terrible headaches. May be worth asking about if you can't bear the suffering.

bonniej · 26/04/2005 12:24

cori, I'm so very sorry to hear your news Triceratops, I do hope everything is ok for you.

I am also suffering from very bad headaches but am not taking any sort of iron tablets or anything. Still waiting for blood test results.

tew · 26/04/2005 16:30

Hi, posted a few times on old thread, didn't realise there was a new one! Due around 20th Oct. 2nd child, there will be a 14 month gap, mad or what!

Random question, but did any of you mothers have bruised cocsix when you had your first baby? Any advice about what to do?

Just started wearing maternity clothes, rather a relief!

jolovett · 26/04/2005 17:05

My peace has ended - JJ has not stopped kicking all afternoon and it's definately movement and not wind. Feels really wierd - like strong little thuds low down in my belly! I had an email just now telling me that this week my baby will grow to around 17cm crown-rump - where on earth is (s)he hiding! Got a bump, but not big enough for that!
