mine's been kicking for a while now - very visible on the flight back from Dublin yesterday! Am officially 20 weeks today, and it's my 25th birthday tomorrow

Yay to everybody who's had scans recently. We already know ours is a boy (well, "95% sure"!), and i have my 22 week anomaly scan on the 3rd June. Seems ages away.....

jolovett · 20/05/2005 13:18

The cushion I bought was on JoJoMamaBebe for £14.99 and it supports your back and front. They do a cheaper one for £9.99 but you can only use it for one or the other.

Haven't seen the kicks yet, can't say I've had time to look though - but he lets me know he's there everyday! You can guarantee though that he won't stop wriggling all day unless I'm with someone who wants to feel it - dh, mam, etc. Must be shy!

triceratops · 20/05/2005 20:13

I have been using my freebag which is a kind of long sausage shaped beanbag to sleep with and it is great.

Elf1981 · 21/05/2005 13:25

How is everybody this weekend? Can finally brush my teeth without gagging, so I'm assuming my morning sickness stage has passed!
Getting very excited about my scan now - 17 days to go and still counting!
Hope all are well.

Has anyone been watching ITVs Hit Me Baby One More Time? I was a huge Shaky fan when I was a kid (my first ever single was "Oh Julie") and was delighted to see that he won tonight (although his performance was pretty rubbish). I have just found out that he is doing a UK tour in Nov/December. I have ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted to go and see him, but the baby will only be around 5 or 6 weeks old. What a dilemma........ Will I be ready to leave the baby with anyone for a whole evening by then? Do I get tickets and then be all disappointed if I don't go? It is an hours drive from where I live so I would be away for at least 5 hours.

Should I just face facts that it is meant to be that I will never see Shaky in concert????

On a more serious note, I felt movements tonight that were definitely the baby. I think I have been feeling them before, but couldn't say 100% that it wasn't my intestines! I had my hand on my bump and also felt the movement on the outside. but of course when DH came to feel it, he couldn't feel a thing.

Thats his punishment for not wanting to come and see Shaky with me.

PS None of the youngsters had better dare post saying "who's Shaky?" lol

SusiS · 22/05/2005 08:09

lol mawbroon, i know who shaky is!! well, guess that makes me an oldie now

glad everyone is feeling better by now!
wohhoooooo, the blooming can start

i've got some of my energy back; which is a big relief!!!
but discovered lots of little pains here and there (lower back starts playing up already; pelvic bone can get quite painful sometimes; difficult to kneel down or cross legs: cramps already!!!)
and worst of all: i started waddling - dp thinks it's funny

oh well, have to work around all that and enjoy the rest

i too can feel bubs clearly now! also still very light kicks all in all; and whenever i take dp's hand to feel it - she stops!!! just my girl

Hello ladies, can I join you? Rather late in the day, I know.... I was very active on TTC threads but then my PC died and it took me months to get it sorted.

I'm due 20 October (if you ask my midwife), 17th October (if you ask me).

mawbroon · 22/05/2005 15:37

Hi Hester and welcome. You are just about a week ahead of me as I am due on 27th October. Hope you are keeping well.

Just had a lovely massage from my sister who is learning Swedish massage. She needs plenty practise on me because you have to lie on your side when you are pg. The college is doing a massage during pregnancy course which she is attending in September so I have volunteered to be a "model" as I will be well and truly huge by then! It's a four day course - how cool getting massaged for 4 days!!!

morningpaper · 22/05/2005 17:45

HESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So glad that everything is going well for you - was so crossing everything for things to work out after seeing you on the TTC thread. How is everything going?

Elf1981 · 23/05/2005 07:37

Morning all.

Susi - I'm also suffering from back pain. Ouch. Didn't expect this til later!

SusiS · 23/05/2005 07:44

exactly elf!!! not till much later
but i have to say i've got a proper bump now - getting a bit heavy; and the walking

oh well, hope everything else is ok?

triceratops · 23/05/2005 09:31

Hi Hester, I remember you from the ttc threads.

I was trying to work out why I had a mental image of a rabbit when I read your nickname and I have just remembered that there was a hare called Hester in Philip Pullmans Dark Materials. . I read too many childrens books.

triceratops · 23/05/2005 09:31

Oh - and I am due 19th so I will be racing you

jolovett · 23/05/2005 09:43

Mawbroon - I think you should go see Shaky. I booked tickets to see Lee Evans just before I fell pg which is around 20th October - JJ is due 8th October!

I've booked my mother to babysit and hopefully I'll be able to tear myself away from my new ds for one evening. I think we'll all probably deserve and need a night out for all the hard work of the pg and first few weeks after the birth.

Thankfully I've managed to convince dh not to book tickets to see Stereophonics at the Millenium Stadium on 29th Sept - don't fancy giving birth in a rock concert somehow. That would be just my luck, but suppose it would make an interesting tale to tell JJ.

Hopefully booking a hol for end of June - somewhere warm and sunny with a pool - can't wait!

CPT · 23/05/2005 11:52

Morning All
Hope you ladies are all doing really well. I am sorry I have not been on here for a while - no excuse but just been rather busy! We had big gov. inspection at work last week so that was rather hectic but we did v well so that was good.

Well I m feelin a bit sorry for myself as I seem to have picked up a really nasty cold. It came on v quickly yesterday and I did not sleep well and still feel horrid so have not gone into work. DH says its not just you we have to think about!! XX

So lots of honey and lemon and rest today!

V nearly 18wks, - desperate to feel kicking! Think I felt some flutters but not sure! Scan on 8th June so not long to go. We are leaving the sex as a suprise but can't wait to see everything else.

Hope you are all havin a good day.
Till next time
CPTx

jessicasmummy · 24/05/2005 14:58

We are all very quiet on here!!! Hope everyone is ok... just had the midwife round just to check the babes heartbeat as still not getting regular kicks and was scared after surgery - especially as supposedly it could cause miscarriage. All ok tho - babe beating away and growing.

Cmon people - lets keep this one going!

jolovett · 24/05/2005 15:59

I was just about to say how quiet it is on here.

Glad to hear everything is ok JM. Did you feel movement much on your dd?

JJ is a little wriggler - always on the go - I get worried when I don't feel anything for a few hours so you must feel twice as worried when you don't feel anything, especially after the surgery.

Ordered a cot on Friday - should be coming any time this week. Getting everything together slowly now. House is still nowhere near being finished though - only 19 weeks to get it done - how on earth are we going to do it?!!!!

jessicasmummy · 24/05/2005 16:14

i got a lot of kicks with jess, but not til quite late on - 24-26 weeks, so i knew i would be lucky to get regular movements this early.... just feel relieved now that everything is ok, and especially as my next midwife appointment isnt until 17th July!!!

Thats only 9 weeks away tho - can u believe it!!!

Joseyjo · 24/05/2005 16:38

i agree - this thread is worryingly quiet!!

i am being kicked quite a lot now, baby is definitely settling into a routine with much more activity when i am quiet. i am desperately nesting, although there is no real need. one of my friends brought round all her old baby stuff including:
travel system (incl car seat)
another car seat (!! i know!!)
2 play gyms
folding swinging chair
bouncy chair
moses basket and stand
2 bin bags of soft toys!!
I have no idea what to do with most of it! it was filling her loft and she just wanted shot of it all.

my other news is that i have had it confirmed by my consultant that i am going to be delivered by cs in week 38. All a bit scarey as that is only 17 weeks away now. It also means that i will have the baby in september, but if it is ok with everyone, i am going to stay on this thread. I think that is why i am nesting - it has all suddenly got a bit real!

Joseyjo · 24/05/2005 16:40

oh, and she forgot the bin bag full of maternity clothes (some of which are isabella oliver (dribble dribble!!!)) and the breast pump!!

jessicasmummy · 24/05/2005 17:01

WOW! you will be the first one on here to drop then! i have a feeling i will be one of the last - due 21st oct!

Im not worrying too much because i have almost everything i need from jess - she is only 10 months old! the only thing i will really need will be clothes if its a boy! Oh and a breast pump because i am adament i WILL feed this one myself - didnt get the help i needed with jess, the midwife basically handed her to me and told me to get on with it, so after 4 days of sore nipples and jess screaming at every feed, i gave in and gave her a bottle - 4oz gone in first attempt! any ideas on the best pump to get?!

Joseyjo · 24/05/2005 17:19

jm - i honestly haven't done any research at all because i knew i was going to get one for free!!
i am going for an electric one that does both boobs at once if you want. i have been recommended this by my bf and my sis as most of the time you would prefer to be asleep than expressing, so speed is of the essence!! i have no idea what the make/model is, but i will let you know when i collect it.

Joseyjo · 24/05/2005 17:25

has anyone read the september thread recently? v v sad story that made me cry. my heart does out to Sarah and her family.

Moomin · 24/05/2005 17:34

yes i saw it last night. have been trying to think of a suitable comment for the thread but couldn't last night as words seemed a bit redundant. awful

have also been told i will prob have a cs, so baby is likely to be born 17th oct rather than 25th. dh works as a theatre nurse and has asked the anaesthetist we had last time to do our next one as he gets on with her so well and she only works at our hosp on a monday. talk about organised! another friend of dh's is doing our 20 week scan. as dh said, you don't get many perks working for the nhs, so we may as well take them when they're offered. also makes me realise how lucky we are with the team dh works with and the care we will have when i think about sarah on the sept thread...

Jockey · 24/05/2005 17:42

Hi - sorry not posted for a bit. Caught a tummy bug which means stuff coming out of both ends instead of just the one (sorry if tmi)! Just one of those things going round the school at the moment.

JM - glad everything's going ok. It must have been a terrible worry for you. I did use an electric pump last time & it was so much better than hand. Can't remember the make but will try and dig it out.

Take care everyone xxxx
