Oooh trice I have a girl and there's no crazy princess talk around here, she's a hardcore feminist.

Elf1981 · 18/05/2005 14:16

Triceratops - I'm the opposite to you! I have hardly any young boys in my family, and all my friends have little girls etc and I love doing all the girly stuff with them - doing their hair, playing with the Barbie's etc. I'll be happy either way if we have a boy or a girl, as long as Boo is healthy, I'll be happy. But I do wonder what games I'll play with a little boy and how will I cope with all those noisy toys!
Fed up again today - had a bad couple of days really. My step-bro is having to have tests at hospital next week for a lump he has found in his groin - not sure if hernia but also not sure if cancerous. My house that I was buying fell through, so it's back to trawling through the market. And today I have a migraine and I'm in meetings all this week at work so can't suffer.
Up side - I'm pretty sure for the last few days I've felt movement from Boo. Mostly just fluttery movements but it does make me grin when I feel it!

Hope everybody is well,

Elf xxxx

JJ is kicking lumps out of me today - must be upset from being prodded so much yesterday.

When they measured his body - he is developing for same date I have had all along which makes him 19+5, but when they measured his legs and feet they are the equivalent of 21+. The sonographer said we are having a very tall baby! No wonder I've been feeling him kicking from so early on. Can't blame him tho - I'm 5"9 and his dad's 6"4!

Ordered one of those maternity cushions for support during the night so eargerly awaiting it's arrival to get a comfy nights sleep!

Jockey · 18/05/2005 15:18

Congratulations Jolovett - a boy .
One thing I will say about boys - my two are totally different from each other. They look alike, but one is fairly placid & one a complete tearaway. Must admit, I was a little terrified when midwife told me I had another boy - but he's been great. Wouldn't be without either of them anyway!

I also had the same problem with the placenta as you with ds1 but it moved before the 32 week scan.

Morningpaper - I know what you mean. I am half dreading my 20 week scan for the same reason as you - didn't get a good result with my dd and it was worrying at the time. But she was fine of course.

Hope everything was ok.

bonniej · 18/05/2005 17:00

I forgot to say congratulations jolovett!! Wonderful to have a boy!!!!

morningpaper · 18/05/2005 17:12

Looks like it's a girl, but she really wasn't sure!! She was saying "Hmm it looks like an undescended testicle... no I think it's just swollen labia... hmm" ARGH!

ANYWAY all the rest was FINE which is GREAT - so nice not to have to have any more worrying scans!

bonniej · 18/05/2005 19:23

oh morningpaper, I bet you wish you hadn't asked! Never mind, the main thing is everything's okay. Doesn't make buying clothes any easier for you though!

Donbean · 18/05/2005 19:48

HAHA! caught you!!!!!

jolovett · 19/05/2005 09:21

Morningpaper - you must be so relieved everything is alright now - you can start to relax a bit now and try to enjoy the rest of the pg.

Been so busy lately and I'm feeling totally knackered - don't think I've had a night in to myself for about a month - and doesn't look like I will for the next few weeks either. Building a house, running a business, working full time and keeping up with all my friends is tiring work. Can't wait for maternity leave. Never mind my and dh have booked a long weekend off together at end of June so hopefully we can jet off somewhere for a few days.

Having some amazing bargains on ebay at the moment - spending too much on there though!

bonniej · 19/05/2005 09:37

I only logged on for a minute, donbean

Jolovett, must be you who keeps outbidding me on ebay!!

ruthiemum · 19/05/2005 11:07

Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd tell you I went for my scan today and I finally pursuaded DH to find out what the sex is last night - yay! BUT the baby was lying face down and she said she couldn't see anything so I still don't know!!! Oh well only another 20 weeks till i find out! Everything else is fine though which is good

mishmash2 · 19/05/2005 11:39

what a pain that after deciding to find out the sex you couldn't!!! That would drive me mad! We've decided to wait anyway so hopefully won't have that problem! I'm officially half way today!!! V exciting that you are all finding out though - makes it soooo real now!

mozarellamamma · 19/05/2005 16:05

Hola

As a newbie I thought I'd look up some other October due folk and say hi. I'm due on Oct 9 in London with my first. Getting our 20 week scan on 31 May...and am getting to the point I can't do up my norrmal jeans anymore but it means I can get some new clothes which can't be bad - hey. If anyone lives down London way (I'm in E17 but can jumnp on the tube) would you be interested in meeting up sometime....??

Cheers MM

mawbroon · 19/05/2005 17:33

Hello all and welcome to Mozzarellamama. Bit far away from me for meeting up I'm afraid (outside Edinburgh)!!

Had hospital appointment today and heard the heartbeat which was reassuring seeing that I won't get any more scans. Just have to wait for the screening test results to come back. Hopefully they will just say "average risk" and that will be the end of it.....fingers crossed.

DH and FIL are outside shovelling 4 tonnes of gravel for the new driveway. I have been cracking the whip for getting the garden etc into shape constantly reminding DH that there is a deadline looming as there will be no time for any of that stuff once the wee one is here. He knows I'm right but I do feel a bit of a nag, especially as I can't really go out there and help them shovel.....

triceratops · 19/05/2005 20:56

If I have a girl I wanted to call her Hannah Rose after my grandma but dh wants to call her Mercy. I hope its a boy and then we can agree on James Stephen after dh's late father.

How is everyone else doing with names? Did anyone stick with the name they had chosen last time (for those who have already had a child) after the birth or did you change your mind once you had met your baby? Ds was supposed to be Solomon but we changed our mind as soon as he was born as he is ginger poor love . It didn't seem right to have a ginger Solomon! My mother wanted to call me Tamsin Poppy and I am kind of glad she didn't.

jessicasmummy · 19/05/2005 20:57

We were adament Jessica would be Caitlin Rose - we changed it 6 days before she was born to Jessica Helen!

For a boy we wanted Callum Iain last time but we dont like it anymore....

this time.... Abigail for a girl - middle name yet to be decided and for a boy - was Aiden James but not sure if i like that anymore either!!!

triceratops · 19/05/2005 20:57

Hi Mozerella. I'm from oop north me. Hope your scan goes well.

morningpaper · 19/05/2005 21:00

We can't decide on names AT ALL. We COMPLETELY disagree on everything! We've given up discussing it now I think.

triceratops · 19/05/2005 21:02

Hi JM, how are your stitches? I hope you are managing to get some rest. Some hope with a little one to look after .

jessicasmummy · 20/05/2005 07:35

Im doing ok thanks - scar is a bit manky - bruised and scabby!

Getting quite a bit of rest as DH has been given 2 weeks off work, so he has taken over while i rest.

Thanks for the concern... brothers wedding tomorrow so will be unindated with relatives tonight so probably wont be about!

Anyone else wishing away the months til october?!

jolovett · 20/05/2005 09:33

I know how you feel JM - October seems so far away! Can't wait to meet my ds.

Well my cushion arrived and it helped a lot last night and I didn't wake up to an aching bump and back. Also had a really nice pair of trousers back which fit amazingly - better than most of my normal clothes. Think I'll have to take another look through the JoJoMamaBebe website.

Getting some practise in tonight - looking after my 9 month old nephew. He is such hard work - if I can cope with him I can cope with anything - all he does is scream constantly and there's nothing you can do to stop him. Wish me good luck.

Any more scans coming up for anyone?

bonniej · 20/05/2005 09:49

good luck with babysitting jolovett! You mention a cushion, what kind have you got as I really need one, having bump and back ache at night! Can you let me know where you got it from please. Hi, to everyone else and a big hello to mozerellamum, unfortunately I'm not near you either but nice to have a new member. October does seem ages away and we've yet got the summer to contend with (which I'm not looking forward to at all!)

jessicasmummy · 20/05/2005 10:14

ive got a 10 month old and know what you mean!

morningpaper · 20/05/2005 10:16

SAW my first kick this morning! Lying in bed and could see my tummy sticking out when she kicked her feet. Went on for about ten minutes. It was so cute. Wished DH had been there but was downstairs with dd.

jessicasmummy · 20/05/2005 11:07

saw mine in the bath the other night - no other visable kicks since tho!
