"I never do that stuff myself, I observe DH or dad!!"

Absolutely BB, I can be as committed a feminist as the next woman, but feel that men have to be allowed to keep some hunter/gatherer roles. The putting together of flat pack furniture is certainly one of them

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 17:37

LOL my dh gets really confused and starts hitting things with hammers where flatpack is concerned, he's better off not doing it at all

Juw - phallic object into round hole simple enough surely not to need labelling? or are the lables luminous for darkest nighttime???

thanks ladies. Since I last posted I've given the nursery a second coat of paint and unpacked all the baby stuff into it and made myself up a bed in there.

Thanks for your opinions, I think you've given a fair judgement. We're both stubborn and neither of us chose this pregnancy. But I've had no choice but to change whereas he has. He's clinging onto his boy stuff. Stupid cliche of a man. I am so dissapointed in the father of my child.

But you're right BB I did know in advance that he wanted this to be a football and rugby weekend. I've also always known that sport and drink is a big part of his life. I also know he's stubborn. I've only myself to blame.

But i also made it clear to him that that wasn't what I wanted. I didn't get a choice in that. I also didn't mention that the only reason I knew his plans for this weekend was because my mum had wanted to come and visit this weekend and when I told him he'd said he'd be at the football and rugby. I haven't seen my mum since last year and she's poorly, about to have knee replacement surgery so it was a huge deal her coming up and I had to tell her not to come because I was embaressed that he'd be watching sport when I would have apprecaited him wanting to spend time with her and help me help her get around ( she can't walk just now).

His team's just lost incidentally. good. I'm now considering booking tickets to go see my friends in london next weekend and have decided (wellness allowing) to be out every night this week.

if he wants us to be two single folk then we will be. I'd better be good at expressing milk because he owes me alot of nights out. I did want it to be us, but fuck him. i'm me.

BabyBolat · 15/03/2009 17:45

LOL brettgirl I am with you on that - if someone said to me I COULDN'T do it as a women I would argue non stop and do it out of pure rage but while I like to be in control (with the instructions and vocally) am happy to leave it to them - the same with taking out rubbish etc - will do it if I need to but on the whole am happy to let DH take on those roles!

DH's problem is that he doesn't like instructions (I do!) and just goes about it in the way he thinks it should be and while 90% of the time he does it right and faster than I ever would there are those occasions when it all goes a bit wrong!!!

Hello there

Half a day late as usual but Mathsmummy, re. your DD's wake up time, count your blessings, mine currently wakes up at 6am and no lunchtime nap either! No idea what I'll do when DC2 is here. Can't possibly feed a baby all night then get up at 6???

Breastfeeding... never mind how good it is for the baby, it's so easy too once it's established, no washing, sterilising and preparing bottles, you just get your boobs out and it can also be really useful to feed a baby to sleep every now and then... although you're not officially supposed to do that but hey. I'd definitely give it a try Brettgirl. You might love it.

BabyBolat · 15/03/2009 17:51

Oh frekkles, ((((((((((hugs))))))))))), I think you should go away next weekend and have some you time and I am glad his team lost - do you think you can talk to him when he gets back tonight? Have you heard from him at all?

Nutty what furniture have you got with phallic shaped options??!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 17:55

mathsmummy27 · 15/03/2009 18:05

frekkles - some good advice here, nothing to add except hugs (())

Schulte I feel bad for moaning sorry

Am drinking RLT which tastes...mmmm...like I've randomly raked up the garden and boiled it up in a mug.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 18:07

Juw - too true comes with reclining options and arm rests, massage features and everything

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 18:08

Juwesm · 15/03/2009 18:09

OMG - piece of furniture which does all that AND makes tea/ washes up! You don't get that at Ikea! Although I think this particular brand of furniture really takes the biscuit when it comes to assembly!

Juwesm · 15/03/2009 18:10

Gives a new meaning to bespoke furniture.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 15/03/2009 18:11

frekkles if it's any help I found that DP didn't adjust to being a dad until after DS was born - we have no choice but to adapt straight away as pregnancy does things to our hormones and lifestyles, but it takes the boys a little longer I think.

I recall having exactly the same arguments with DP before DS was born - and you couldn't hope for a more committed dad now. Fingers crossed your DP will be the same

brettgirl it's completely normal to be nervous about breastfeeding - it's not completely straightforward for everyone, in fact only a few lucky people don't need a bit of help to get going. Once it's established though it can be incredibly easy and so much less hassle (and cheaper!) than making up bottles, that IMO it's worth giving it a go. But honestly don't worry about it - I bf DS for a year and I still find the thought of doing it again a bit weird, but once that baby's out the hormones kick in and it seems like the most natural thing in the world.

Just make sure you know where to get advice if you need it - write down the numbers for La Leche League and the NCT bf counsellors now, in case your midwives turn out to be not so good at helping - some are brilliant, some are not so brilliant

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 18:11

Juw - its the re-wireing that takes the most time, undoing all the tangles and knots takes forever lol

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 18:14

Juw - i have now managed to customise mine to a perfect standard for me only took 5 years lol

BabyBolat · 15/03/2009 18:40

ha ha nutty all good furniture takes a bit of wearing in!

MM I haven't had any RLT today - does it really make much of a difference do you think?

Just had a lovely long bath but my feet are itching like crazy! seriously! I almost tore the skin off them when I was moisturising them!!

PuzzleRocks · 15/03/2009 18:51

Frekkles - I agree with what BB et al have said. I hope you are feeling a bit better sweetheart.
whispers "the Rocks household love football" and ducks.

Minush - In our house I am forever saying, "Did you look or did you have a man-look?". There is a world of difference.
