"you manage to make West Brom sound upmarket!! Good work!" Hahahahaha You just made milk come out of my nose [glamorous emoticon]

Boffin, I want to come & visit you - that place looks lovely

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:55

Ju, do you mean Top Nosh? I love Top Nosh. It's where I broke my 12 year vegetarianism after a night at Snobs. With a doner kebab, naturally. God it was good. & falling asleep in the Snobs toilets is not a good move. I'm surprised you weren't quarantined.

BoffinMum · 16/03/2009 14:55

It is gorgeous round by me, admittedly. But that's Cambridge for you.

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:56

Springy, are you saying Sheffield is less rough than Birmingham? I'm amazed. Bradford was as rough as it comes (ready for a beating from someone who grew up in Bradford). There was always someone there who needed money for the train to Halifax to get to a hostel/ ho to hospital etc. I think, on the whole, city centres are very nice, the outskirts are pretty dodgy, and then thing get nicer and nicer as you spread out. Leeds is a lovely city, but I wouldn't go wandering round the outskirts at night, if I could help it.

LuLuBai · 16/03/2009 14:56

Ha ha ha Springy - DH was telling me about a bloke who tried to scam him for money towards a train fare the other day, and then tried the exact same scam 2 weeks later. DH said "What you still haven't got the fare to Portsmouth? If you'd started walking when you last asked me for money you'd be there by now".

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 14:57

I've only been to Cambridge itself twice. Both times to go to the police station. Once I had to give a statement.

The event I was giving a statement about was in Wilburton, near Ely.

That's the limit of my Cambridge-related experience

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:57

Boffin - sounds like a fab day

BB - ((hugs)) as have no useful advice xx

Top Nosh! That sounds right! Not sure a doner kebab counts as breaking vegetarianism, as not sure there is any real meat content in there.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 14:58

LuLu - lol at your DH classic comeback

OP posts:
Juwesm · 16/03/2009 14:59

And why did you have to go to the police station a second time?

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 15:00

Sheffield is a lot nicer than Birmingham. I actually feel quite twitchy walking around Birmingham these days if I've got my laptop in my bag or whatever - I've never felt anything but safe in Sheffield. It's not perfect, obviously. & has its resident drunks that seem to have created their own idea of a 9-5 day which consists of sitting outside the cathedral drinking cheap cider & shouting at each other (but not bothering anyone else, in fairness) like most cities.

I find Leeds quite intimidating, too. I don't know what it is about Sheffield, but it still has a small-town feeling to it, despite being a cosmopolitan city. I'm much happier bringing a child up here than I would be in Brum, Manchester, Leeds or anywhere like that.

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 15:01

Nutty, you're not a...... trendy???? But....the music....the smut.....????

OddEyes · 16/03/2009 15:02

South because is sunny and warm - but sooooo boring!

more exciting note - how much mucus makes up plug - think i must be unplugged by now!!

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 15:03

BB, I have no idea - but I'm hoping that it's the start of something

& because I was giving a statement because of a charge being made against DH. He had to go back a second time to receive a caution & because it was sort of my fault in the first place, I went with him to keep him company on the drive & try to show my support.

OddEyes · 16/03/2009 15:03

ha! thought you had been all unusually quiet - didn't refresh properly!

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 15:04

No idea about the mucus, OddEyes - I was wondering, is it really obvious that it's your plug? Or is it just increased / thicker discharge?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 15:04

Juw - i can mix with anyone i wouldnt call myself a trendy at all, i'm a bit of a chameleon tbh i can shake my booty to r&B, rave like a lunatic, Mosh and headbang clad in leather/ pvc and i love it all

SpringySunshine · 16/03/2009 15:04

That wasn't a personal question about the contents of your knickers, by the way OddEyes. A general question to anyone who knows

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 15:05

I haven't been back to T'North since leaving Uni. I certainly feel safer here in rural(ish) Kent than I would have in Leeds, Bradford, London or any proper city, I think. But then, even the small town I live in has its share of dodgy bits. Once, there was a double-murder!! I think I would be stressy about walking around anywhere town-like in the dark, be it Gillingham, Stourbridge or Bradford. I'm much more of a wuss about such things these days.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 15:06

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 15:06

Ah, I like chameleon!

LuLuBai · 16/03/2009 15:07

Oddeyes I only lost my plug mid-labour and was a bit hazy between contractions so I can't remember all that clearly, but I think it was no more than would fit in an egg.

Where's Mathsmummy? She's the expert on mucus plugs.

LuLuBai · 16/03/2009 15:12

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

Just googled mucus plug. People have posted PICTURES!

Why oh why?

Juwesm · 16/03/2009 15:14

Google is a tool for evil as well as a tool for good.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 16/03/2009 15:14
