I managed a spot of deforestation three days age. It was extremely uncomfortable and I can't see me being able to manage it again.

Schulte - Post a pic on your profile and we'll give you an honest opinion.

PuzzleRocks · 15/03/2009 20:42

Oh yes. And what about Oddeyes?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 20:42

Shulte - lol i think thats the difference though, if you are giving birth yes its tireing but you dont really have any concept of time and things seem to be happening quite quickly due to contractions being close, pushing/opening, being examined if needs be etc. whereas if you are an onlooker you're consious of it taking hours, being exhausted with worry, feeling a bit useless and not knowing what to do with yourself.

dh was shattered but darent even attempt to nap for fear of the wrath lol bless him

Frekkles, sorry to hear you were so upset. I hope you two manage to sort things out.

Schulte, we apparently have identical arses.

Did manage to make it to the garden centre but I was stared at a lot in the wheelchair and felt generally in the way. We bought a hamster cage thing with lots of tunnels in the shape of a pirate ship for the boys, with the idea of getting them some hamsters next weekend. On the way back I saw a friend of mine and she was so shocked at seeing me in the wheelchair that she hardly knew what to say.

Not good, this wheelchair thing.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 21:21

Boffin - ((hugs)) wheelchair = going out xx it can only be a good thing much better than being in so much agony you can hardly move and beat yourself up about not being able to make it all the way round the garden centre or not go there at all ((hugs)) chin up, not long now xx

Boffin - what hamsters are you getting?? i always used to love those lil dwarf hamsters

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 15/03/2009 21:39

Dunno about hamsters. I thought you could only get one type. Anybody got any advice?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:07

Boffin - i dont think it really does make much of a difference with the type but this site may help?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:10

Evening Ladies,

It's taken me a while to catch up and I don't know if I'll be on much over the next few days. DD has chickenpox so there'll be no respite for me with DD being in with the CM this week. I feel really anxious about how I'm going to cope without the time out. I've just bought a load of food that needs cooking to fill the freezer (fish pie, cottage pie, lasagne etc) and was planning to do that when DD was with the CM and rest when she had her nap. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with my general tiredness, looking after DD, doing housework and not waste all of this food I'm also really worried about the baby coming soon as it's only five days until the point in my pg with DD that I gave birth to her early.

I'm off to bed now to get some rest. I'll do my best to keep up over the next few days but I'm sorry if I appear to be AWOL.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:30

Swaliswan ((hugs)) to you and DD, chickenpox is a PITA and no fun for anyone sending stay inside vibes to your bambino xx Night night try and rest where you can xx

Thanks for the links, Nutty. Very useful.

Swali, are you 100% sure you have had chickenpox yourself? If not you need to get anti-viral treatment from the GP as it's potentially so near the birth. Similarly if the baby is born around now you will need to be well away from your daughter and the medical people will need to know she has the infection. Chickenpox can be fatal in the newborn.

BoffinMum · 15/03/2009 22:40

From BUPA website - advice for pg people.

If you aren't immune to chickenpox and have been in contact with someone who has it, go and see your GP immediately - you can have an injection called varicella zoster immunoglobulin (VZIG) which contains antibodies against the virus. This will prevent you getting chickenpox, but you need to have it within 10 days of exposure to the virus.

BoffinMum · 15/03/2009 22:43

Could Swali's buddy please text her and ask her to log on to read my posts as this is really, really important.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:45

Boff - just checking to see who swali's buddy is, though isnt she a nurse??

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:47

Swaliswan's buddy is Electra

BoffinMum · 15/03/2009 22:55

Not sure what she is, although I know it's something NHS related. She could be an NHS manager for all we know, for example.

I have actually asked MNTowers to email her to encourage her to log on, just to be on the safe side. If she has a risk of premature delivery, which could take place within the next five days, then she ought to discuss anti-virals with her GP anyway, I think, from having read the BUPA and NHS websites. It's really quite serious.

If she was medically trained I think this might have rung bigger warning bells for her and she might have posted something about seeing the GP tomorrow. Anyway, my conscience won't let me ignore this, hence contacting MNTowers.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 15/03/2009 22:58

Boff - i will give her a lil text, just a bit worried about her disturbing her sleep though as she was a bit frustrated about getting calls etc at nap time xx

lauren61 · 15/03/2009 22:58

wont she be immune if she works in that field? jst goin on my mum whos a nurse and know she's immune to pretty much everything,

also doesnt the virus set in and be more contagious before any spots come out? if her DCs got spots then isnt it past the catching stage??

my friends little girl had them last week and midwife said i was safe around her as ive had them twice before, and her spots were out and scabby.. hmmmm.

BoffinMum · 15/03/2009 22:59

I know but I believe we need to get in touch, from the facts she has given us, don't you??? I would never forgive myself if she lost the baby through an omission of action. I remember from NCT ante-natal classes having the chickenpox thing absolutely impressed on us.
