suspected as much with a 2hr labour.. sounded a bit too quick. haven't spoken to her yet.. waiting to find out when I can visit I don't know if she'll be in a rush to come home with having a fully active ds of 2.5 like me already.

llareggub, I got a rash on my legs just above my knees the other night, but it had gone after a few hours! Don't know what that was but it was after I'd showered.

Had third NCT class last night - was good and there are some lovely people on the course. The sessions do go on about the labour a lot, though - I know it's important but I'm really more concerned about having a new baby and looking after it etc!

xx

Belgianchocolates · 10/03/2009 20:19

MsG you're unusual then to not want too much info about labour and more about what it's like to have a baby. These kind of classes tend to focus on more labour, because they've found that pregnant women don't tend to be able to think past that all too much! It's good to know what to expect with a newborn though and not just the feeding. I remember this couple who were very dissapointed that their 3 day old baby didn't show any interest in the baby gym. They thought that it all had to do with the baby not having energy and not getting enough food. We had to break the news to them that newborns are actually quite boring and don't really play yet: they feed, poo, sleep and cry

FiKelly · 10/03/2009 20:22

mrsg I suppose they keep on about the labour so it will sink in and be familiar without you having to think about it when the time comes?!

belgian that is a funny story but I do seem to recall wondering why DS wasn't interacting more with his baby gym when he was a few weeks old!

MsG my rash doesn't come and go, it seems to be here to stay!

chocolatebunnies have fun with the wedding plans and please don't get stressed by it. It'll be alright on the night, so to speak!

blottedcopybook I'm glad I'm not the only one with a DH who doesn't think. Thankfully we both felt a bit better after a few hours sleep.

I'm sitting with my feet up. DS is finally in bed. I think he is definitely feeling something about the new baby. All I've had from him this evening are questions about the baby and whether he (new baby) will be allowed to play with his toy work bench. I reassured him that the workbench is his, and baby will only play with it if DS wants him to. I think it comes from seeing his old clothes being washed and ironed. He is very possessive!

FiKelly · 10/03/2009 20:25

think I have a case of pregnant brain tonight.. can't even type names properly!

Belgianchocolates · 10/03/2009 20:29

llare Lol about your ds being possessive about his old baby clothes!

My ds today wasn't happy about dd's choice of bedtime story (they take turns) and so picked his own book to read on his own. I said OK, as long as he reads it 'in his head'. Upon which he said 'I can't do that, because all I ever hear when I read to myself is blablabla'

LoobyLou36 · 10/03/2009 20:30

Evening ladies

Well I've now started buying a few things for hospital bag. Walked up to Primark in my lunch hour and bought some BIG knickers and a nightie with a button front (not very attractive but what can you expect for 3 quid).

Also managed to dye my hair tonight, altho bending over the bath to wash out the colour was a challenge!
My niece has promised to colour and cut it before the birth, bless (v.handy having a hairdresser in the family, especially one that lives just round the corner!)

Going away for our wedding anniversary on Friday. Driving straight down to the Eden Project then back up to Bude for 3 nights - should be a nice break. Lots of walking involved tho , should mean I sleep well .

Is anyone else really breathless? I'm terrible at the moment. Prob doesn't help that I work on the top floor of an old building - up and down 2 flights of stairs all day.

pulapula · 10/03/2009 20:30

Evening all,

Dandy- my DD was 2.6 when DS arrived, and even though she was in the room next door she slept perfectly and wasn't disturbed by DSs night-time antics. DD and DS share a room now, and neither is really disturbed by the other.

As for getting them to bed, we would wash and get DS ready for bed whilst DD was in the bath, then DH would do books, bed etc with DD whilst I gave DS a feed and got him down in our room. I would manage on my own if DH was working late, but guess this time it'll be more tricky with 3 to get settled!

chocbunnies- that wedding dress is lovely- and a good price too- a lot cheaper than my wedding dress was! I really think you need to be assertive with the wedding plans - you don't need stress especially at this stage in your pg. I ended up with 3 "weddings" (all about 2 weeks apart)! The "real" wedding in Barbados with about 8 friends, a church blessing and family meal in my home town (to please my family) and a big evening reception in Sheffield where we could invite all our friends and our parents could invite their friends- around 250 people there! I would have been happy without the blessing...

Belgianchocolates · 10/03/2009 20:35

Looby I'm always breathless too, I think it's partly baby taking up so much space and partly being a bit anaemic. We really enjoyed the Eden Project when we went, but I was pregnant with dd at the time and it's incredibly HOT in the tropical sphere, so I sort of whizzed through it, because I couldn't stand the heat.

My eczema started when I was pregnant with ds, back then I thought that it was going to be a pregnancy thing, but 8 years later it's still there. I hope your rash wont go the same way llare

llareggub · 10/03/2009 20:39

Funnily enough, belgian the ezcema on my feet that has plagued me for years disappeared when I got pregnant. The rash on my hands and wrists I thought was due to my handwash, but I've changed it and it is as bad as ever.

We went to the Eden Project in October, when I was roughly about 10 weeks pregnant. I couldn't stand the tropical biodome for too long, it really got to me! There is a shed thing half way round where you can cool down, so don't worry about getting too hot. You can convert your day tickets into annual tickets for no extra cost, if you don't get to see everything. We're hoping to get back down there in September, I love Cornwall.

Belgianchocolates · 10/03/2009 20:46

llare I didn't see that shed thing. Maybe it wasn't there yet. We went in 2003, so quite a long time ago now. Somehow we never managed to get back there again.

Febes · 10/03/2009 20:49

Evening. I just did my shopping on line as I can't face the supermarket anymore. I just hope I've remembered everything.
Loads of people at work commented that I am looking really good at the moment so I'm feeling v happy. I do feel great so far and I am loving my bump at the moment. I have to keep pacing myself though as I still want to work 6 weeks out of the next 8 weeks. I hope I can manage.

llareggub · 10/03/2009 20:50

Do you know, I don't remember seeing it when we went in 2004. It must be a recent addition!

Belgianchocolates · 10/03/2009 20:53

Maybe they had too many fainting pregnant women!

LoobyLou36 · 10/03/2009 20:55

Oh didn't realise breathlessness might have something to do with anaemia.

Going to MW tommorrow so will get my 28wk blood results, they didn't label them properly at the hospital so had to have them taken again at 30 wks (am now 32+2). Also be glad to get measured again - I seem to have exploded over the last couple of weeks .

Really looking forward to Eden Project - must remember to wear a light t shirt under other layers, seem to remember I was hot last time I went (4yrs ago), and I didn't have a baby inside me to keep me warm then

LoobyLou36 · 10/03/2009 20:59

chocbunnies that's a lovely dress

Dandy- oh no- hadn't even thought about the morning routine, probably because i'm hoping DH will get DD/DS to nursery for their 2 days a week, and by September when DD starts school we should have hopefully got into some kind of routine [wishful thinking emoticon].

pulapula · 10/03/2009 21:11

Sorry Dandy chocbunnies dress is on Seraphine website (search for "wedding dress" in the search box)

LoobyLou36 · 10/03/2009 21:15
