38 + 2 today. Still miles away, aren't I? But I am SO READY! Come on baby - it's getting uncomfortable in there! DH playing rugby today so am hoping his absence and difficulty to get hold of him will be a sod's law moment that labour starts...

Anyone got anything fun planned for today?

xx

titmouse · 07/03/2009 09:30

good luck captain! hope to read good news soon.

I've got my two bridesmaids coming today - been married 2 years but that is what they will always be! - it will be the last time I see them before the baby comes so we are having a tea party and silliness. I am excited but also a bit emotional, getting to the stage where I see friends knowing that the next time I see them all life will have changed. I'm trying to make sure I see all my closest friends before B day but it is hard cos I don't know exactly when that will be!!
I feel really ready for this baby, but the majority of my friends don't have children, either because they are not in that place yet or they haven't been able to/chosen not to and it's a daunting thought that quite a few friendships might change once this baby comes.
Any advice from those wise ladies who are not on their first baby?

have a great weekend everybody xxxx

mamasmurf · 07/03/2009 10:16

I agree twocute. It's all happening here.
Congrat to you and little one. Love your birth story, hoping for natural bith with no.3
Lauimere congrats to you too. Still on for Charlotte if i can convince DH. I liked as DS and DD have Irish names and i wanted something different.

35 today, sounds so much older than 34. It even took me a while to figure out whether i was 34 or 35. I am 38+3(aswell as 35) and no sign of anything, so great to read about all you girls moving along. Good luck to all.XXX

hi ladies am 37 + 6 today had mild period cramps for a few hours now, could be something, could be nothing! have sent dh out with the kids for a bit of peace, i feel quite spaced out, v. clumsy and doing silly tidying up...all i want to do is eat and sleep! very exciting reading this thread. hey mamasmurf, I will be 35 in a couple of months, it does feel much older than 34, halfway to 70!!!!! good luck girls! xxx

CaptainKarvol · 07/03/2009 12:42

Tiny(girl)baby born at 8.41 this morning, 7lb 12oz, home water birth - drug free with lots of shouting! Still no name, but she's gorgeous. Smaller than DS was, but born at 38+6 rather than 40+7, so not too surprising. Had loads of skin-to-skin and 3 breastfeeds so far - what a star!

Good luck to all those waiting - for what it's worth my early labour signs were painful but irregular contractions, a surprising amount of nesting, and feeling really tired and grotty, so much that I went to bed at 9.30pm. Woke up again at 10pm when my waters went though!

meep · 07/03/2009 12:48

Hooray - well done Captain!!!! Did your waters break in bed? Enjoy your baby snuggles!

The girls are in the lead at the moment!

Hi ladies - congrats to all the new births - and such lovely names too!

I've given birth to a beautiful baby girl - Melissa Jane. Mild ctx started on Tuesday night, went into labour ward Weds afternoon, had gas n air (which I didn't like - made me feel sick) followed by diamorphine (which I probably liked a little too much ) then low-dose epidural (thank god!!) and then ventouse assisted delivery with episiotomy (ouch!) the following morning.

Had a VBAC which I'm v pleased about but at the same time didn't prepare myself for quite how much natural labour HURTS - even with all the drugs! By the end I was shouting OW! OW! OW! at the top of my lungs with each ctx .

My ladybits are pretty sore - am sitting on a pack of frozen peas as I type! - nips also sore but bfing going well. Can anyone remember when nips start toughening up?!

Here's the updated list:

I want my baby out now

grinningbee · 07/03/2009 14:19

Congrats new mums!

Lilymolly me too. There's no more room left inside me for baby to grow and I'm getting more purple stripes by the minute!

Went out for dinner last night, and got sympathetic looks when I stood up to leave! Last night was miserable - couldn't sleep until well after 3am only to be woken by DH leaving at 6am to go to market...

Moan over... lol.

Wheelybug · 07/03/2009 14:21

Congrats Captain and Missmod - Great news ! Hope you're all settling in well. Seems the girls are winning at the moment ...

Although I must lodge a small complaint about queue jumping . Not that I'm due yet either so can't really complain (and given I queue jumped massively with dd who was born at 37 weeks I really can't say anything). Although today two people have asked me when I'm due and I've said 'Friday' which feels quite strange - less than a week now till due date and a max of just over 2 weeks until LO arrives one way or another. Hurrah !!

Meep - if I don't manage to get this one moving on its own we could be having ours on the same day as 23rd is how long they are giving me (although nothing booked yet).

Labour vibes to all who want them !

Madigan · 07/03/2009 14:35

Massive congratulations CaptainCarvol and MissModular!!! Wonderful news.

Pregnanthedgewitch - think we are due about the same time .... why do you think you might be early??? I keep praying that I will be!!

Still suffering from horrible cold and chesty cough (have been for a week now) - getting v little sleep at night but managing some rests/naps by day as I have help with my 19mo, thank goodness. Bladder still painful when I stand up, lie down, turn over, sit etc.

Anyone else really lost their appetite for healthy food? All I want is stodge, and only eat cereal at night to try to avoid heartburn, but definitely not getting my 5 a day ............. anyone else feel the same???

xxxxxxxx

jollyjoanne · 07/03/2009 14:39

Congratulations to Captain and MissMod!

I am getting so jealous, as still no signs of anything happening here and I am due tomorrow! Boo hiss .

Even managed a trip to the shops this morning to get DH some new shirts and to Tescos to do a quick shop.

And it has got to the stage now where if I haven't spoken to someone (family or friends) for more than a couple of days they are convinced I have had the baby and haven't told them. I seem to be spending half the day texting people to say there is no baby yet!

babyinbelly · 07/03/2009 15:45

I was due yesterday according to MW little wheel and scan. not an inkling of anything exciting happening.

DS was 12days overdue so am sure this one will be just as slow in moving, must be all that queue jumping going on. not that I mind too much as I wanted an aries baby but it is still frustrating all the same. Been ready for 3 weeks now so nothing to do to take my mind of waiting! Also fed up of constantly bursting into tears for no reason. DP is alson fed up of this and has already taken a week of paternity leave so is likely to miss out on being around after its actually born.

Sorry for the rant.

Congratultions to all the new arrivals. very excited for you.

grinningbee · 07/03/2009 15:46

I'm the same Madigan. I keep scoffing scones . Last night when I went for dinner it was gammon steak with onion rings too.... vv bad!

Having said that although I was rather "fluffy" before getting pg, I've managed to only put on 16 pounds so far, so I'm quite chuffed. Although with 19 days to go (or more if late!!) who knows where the scales will stop...

Jollyjoanne it must be really irritating to keep being asked. As if you'd keep it a blooming secret!

Boobz · 07/03/2009 17:19

Congrats to all the new arrivals!

Does your legs turning into sausages overnight mean labour is impending? I can't get into any of my jeans and my inner thighs are all red and spotty - nice.

Have cooked myself into a frenzy this afternoon - shepherd's pie, chilli con carne, sausages and Guinness casserole, Spanich chicken and chorizo casserole, red pesto and pepper lamb pasta sauce.... that should see us through the first 2 weeks of the LO arriving! Am not much of a cook really so have actually enjoyed it. Off out to Bodeans for dinner with Friend's tonight - am hoping to eat this baby out of it's comfy abode.

Come on baby!

Boobz · 07/03/2009 17:20

sorry for typos!

kanga5 · 07/03/2009 18:14

Hi all,
congrats to auntyspan and captain...
babies coming out every day on this thread, but this does seem to be a v.popular month!

lovely pics Mandy, he is lovely.

good luck PHW, sounds like you're next!

I am finding I am entering the last stages now, with BH to stop a freight train, lots of movement still, baby pressing on cervix. Declined evening out with friends as tending to give alarming OWWW noises now and then and don't want to scare them! I have an inclination to stick around home now, but tomorrow is DS3 birthday and we are taking him out to Bedgebury for a picnic/day out. It is about an hour away from hospital...wonder if I should take bags in car?

jollyjoanne · 07/03/2009 18:30

Kanga I reckon it depends if you want the baby to try to make an arrival tomorrow. Sods law you pack the bag you'll not get a twinge if you leave it at home you'll go into labour and have to be rushed to the hospital without it!!!

Madigan I also know what you mean I have probably put a stone on in the last couple of weeks cos all I want to eat is cake, biscuits, crisps, chips etc and nothing healthy at all. Even had chinese and chips for tea tonight!

Boobz although the above may also explain this, my thighs have become enormous also - almost to tree trunk proportions. And I have had a rash all the way through pregnancy as the hormones have made my skin sensitive to everything - soap, detergent, shaving you name it! I look just lovely.

I am sure the DH will be really impressed when I am trying to force myself on him later in an attempt to get this baby moving! LOL.

Congrats missmodular!

Don't send labour vibes my way - I am quite happy for the baby to stay in until c-section on 23rd !

wheely the 23rd will be a lovely day to have a baby but I am still keeping my fingers crossed for you that you go earlier with the birth you want.

My heartburn has reached silly proportions - I spent most of last night trying to sleep upright and was swigging Gaviscon from the bottle so much that I had a chalky moustache when I woke up! Of course as soon as I nodded off I would naturally snuggle down only to be woken by a mouthful of stomach acid. That combined with a snorey drunken dh beside me didn't help my mood this morning (he let me have an afternoon nap so is back in the good books )

My legs are also horrid - all tight and mottled - and I can't reach down to shave them.
