corgi lol at the antenatal class - when I did them with DS, one couple had their baby a week or two early, and brought her along to the last AN class. They asked if we wanted to hold her and every last one of us sat on our hands and said 'no no no' with a look of utter fright! It's a hard transition to make!

I'm also trying to concentrate on how much easier life is with the baby inside - no feeding, no sleep dramas, no laundry...

jollyjoanne · 06/03/2009 14:59

Yeah, maybe that's why this bump isn't going anywhere at present - its waiting for my brain to get over that transition from being pregnant to actually being a proper mummy!

corgikelly · 06/03/2009 16:07

Oh crap oh crap oh crap.

So I go on maternity leave next Wednesday - and I just got a call from my boss. She's been made redundant, and it's totally up in the air as to what will happen to her team.

Legally they can't get rid of me now, and for, I think, at least three months after I'm back from leave. But oh LORD, what a horrendous time to disappear from executive view. Out of sight = bodes no good.

This is the kind of shock that can send one into labour...well, hang on, Cletus, because I AM NOT READY.

Wheelybug · 06/03/2009 16:47

Hi All

I survived my MW appointment - blood pressure was at a lowish level for me and the baby is low down - hurrah ! it is 3/5th palpable (that means 2/5th engaged doesn't it ???) ? So I am a very happy wheely at the moment. So, should be on for a sweep next friday if nothing happens sooner and then the MW said they'd give me another before they had a chance to have a c-sec if I needed it. Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah !

fruity - I had my second reflexology session on wednesday. I don't really know if its doing any good = maybe its helped the baby go down, who knows ?! Its v. relaxing at least so must be doing some good.

mandy - lovely photos and glad your recovery is going well.

Wheelybug · 06/03/2009 16:48

The bad bit was that the baby is still a bit posterior so I have to spent a lot of time on my hands and knees etc to try and get it to turn round.

meep · 06/03/2009 16:48

aw - baby Felix - adorable!

Congratulations auntyspan!

corgi that is rubbish news. I don't know if I feel safer or not on maternity leave with all the redundancies going on at the moment . I still think that my colleagues who don't have children honestly think that mat leave is just one big holiday. Admittedly you do get to eat cake and chat with friends a lot - but that is a necessity to get you through the day with a small person!

slick has been very quiet again - and she was due on 28th Feb?????!!!

Good luck PHW!!! and thanks for adding me to the list Meep ..........

lollipopz · 06/03/2009 19:03

Hey all thanks for the well wishes baby has turned and is 2/5ths engaged! Full term tomorrow so any time baby x

FruitynNutty · 06/03/2009 19:18

lollipopz When did you baby turn?

lollipopz · 06/03/2009 19:32

Fruity I am not entirely sure, some point in the last 48 hours. It wasn't entirely breech the doc called it oblique or an unstable lie but its finally settled. Think its quite common in my situation as its my 4th baby so it has more room than the others did! x

FruitynNutty · 06/03/2009 19:43

So, late on then if you're due tomorrow!
My baby is also breech. I'm 37+5 and booked in for a c-section at 39+3.
I'm kind of hoping he doesn't turn as I now have my heart set on the 18th March now!

But you say "not entirely breech" so perhaps different.

Were you booked in for c-section in case baby hadn't turned?

lizziemun · 06/03/2009 20:33

Lollipop

I having my 3rd and as my midwife has politly put it as i have had 2 9lb plus babies my muscles aren't what they should be. So i have had an unstable lie as well.

But thankfully baby is now head down and in the right position.

lollipopz · 06/03/2009 20:47

Yeah Lizzie think it was ds being 8lb 4 thats made it nice and roomy Fruity i'm not due tomorrow i'm 37 weeks tomorrow so eventually classed as full term. Seems like i am so far begini every one on here! Wasn't booked in they were going to decide today what to do but wasn't as severe as breech more its head was still floating about in my left side as it had so much room! Good luck on the 18th x

sarahrhianna · 06/03/2009 20:53

hi all, am new-ish to mums-net, but have been reading this thread for a few days and thought it was about time I joined in!

I am also due on the dreaded Friday 13th but as it is also my gorgeous DD's 2nd birthday it can't be that unlucky! No comments about the timing of this pregnancy please!

Am hoping this one (don't know if boy/girl) will arrive early. MW got my hopes up by telling me last wednesday that it could be any day which is possibly one of the worst things you can say to a huge, achy pregant woman who can't wait to lie on her tummy to sleep and have a large glass of wine!
Had constant BH all last night every 15 mins and really though this was it but no, they bloody disapeared this morning, so unfair!

Congrats to all the lovely ladies who have already popped and good luck to all those impatiently waiting!

FruitynNutty · 06/03/2009 20:55

Thanks lollipopz Good luck to you too! I have also felt so far behind everyone here, especially as lots have already had their babies Being due late in the month seems like such a long way away but it's not!! It'll be you soon

jollyjoanne · 06/03/2009 21:05

Welcome Sarahrhianna!

Just thought I'd let you know that Hedgewitch is in the chat bit, she's been having some potential contractions, if anyone is around who may be able to offer more advice she might appreciate it. Being a firstimer I don't really know what to say.

Starshinetiger · 06/03/2009 21:53

It's a long time since I've been on this thread, but did join early on and see I am still on the list, so hope I can join you all again. Have been lurking throughout pregnancy, but the tiredness really hit this time round and didn't find too much time for MN while at work. Now on mat leave and enjoying a bit more downtime (when DS allows )
Congrats to all the new arrivals. Still just over 2 weeks to go for me, but getting a bit concerned about not very much movement, so not sure what that means...
Guess there won't be many around at this time on a Friday night, but I'm waiting for DH to get home from work...

titmouse · 06/03/2009 22:24

hi starshinetiger I am here at this time on a friday, husband away working and I am watching a Goldie Hawn film. Also having a go with the contraction master website, timing my BH just to see how it works (easy enough to manage in labour that's fo sure) I know how to have fun don't I!!

is this your second child? sorry to hear you have been whacked out with tiredness, I hope you get to rest lots before your baby comes.

laumiere · 06/03/2009 23:26

Wow, it's all go here!

My LO will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, can barely believe it....

Corgi and other ladies with redundancy fear, I feel your pain (my team may be being dissolved), unfortunately the government TIGER site suggests that you can be made redundant while on mat leave, as long as you aren't the only redundancy made and the employer can prove you aren't being made redundant because you're on leave. It might be best to check your employment conditions, I will be!

CaptainKarvol · 07/03/2009 03:20

Something's starting here - waters went at 10pm, ctx started about 1.30am, now sitting here with TENS machine buzzing away thinking 'ouch'.

corgikelly · 07/03/2009 07:26

Go, Captain, go!

laumiere, now even happier I live in Belgium. Pregnant women are untouchable here...or at least they used to be. Perhaps it's time to make sure...

meep · 07/03/2009 08:02

Yay captain - maybe you're with your baby now?!

laumiere - that is right - you can't be the only one made redundant if on mat leave - and you do get first pick of any alternative jobs going - but you can be made redundant.

Hi Sarahrhianna and welcome back starshinetiger!

lol at titmouse and your contraction website!!! Saying that dh does have a speradsheet showing my (very erratic) contractions from last time. We even had a contraction word so he knew when one was starting (it was "moo"!!!)

lollipopz glad your baby has turned - that must be a relief for you - keep bouncing on that birthing ball!

twocutedarlings · 07/03/2009 08:06

Morning Girls,

Gosh this tread is sooooo exciting!!

So it looks like we should have at least 3 more babies by the time the weekend is over!!! (the more the merrier of corse )

Yay Captain am hoping you are now nursing your little one

This thread is now sending me all tearful my hormones have been all over the place this last couple of days, note for you first timers, dont let the buggers catch you off guard!, so when you are sat there feeling totally normal and then it starts raining and it makes you cry cos you wanted to go out for a walk with LO in pram!! remember this is totally normal!! and you are not losing the plot!! again you would think with the 3rd of would know all this!!

Honey I am sure things will work out just fine wherever the baby is born!!!, but you still have plenty of time for nature to do its job , good luck xx

meep I think slick was having problems with her internet, but lets keep everything crossed that she to to busy to post .

Alex was a little star when the MW stabbed him yesterday, cried a bit to start with but only for for a few seconds . He has also gained weight in his first 6 days, and is now 6lb 7oz (was 6.5 at birth if someone could update list for me, my mouse is playing up and wont copy?)

I will also try and add some piccys today.

Happy weekend..........sending positive labour vibes! just think this time last week i had a mild tummy ache and by 4pm i have a baby in my arms so who knows what could happen!!
