You're having SEX after 14 days, laumiere? Holy cow I stand by what I said ages ago all of you ladies are superwomen!

Well done, jollyjoanne! I'm quite liking the trend toward old-fashioned names on the board.

I'm still here, fearless, though I was up at 4am Googling "signs labour queasiness backache"! I do feel increasingly like I'm about to get my period -- but I am also pretty sure that I'm creating a tempest in a teapot. Ho hum.

Poor old Cletus -- I actually think I may have scared him into staying put, since I hauled myself to the dentist this morning. I had to have THREE old cracked fillings replaced. My mouth is killing me, and I can only imagine how the drilling sounded to him, and how unimpressed he was with mum going completely stiff in terror of the drill.

On the plus side, what with the pain and the stretching my mouth beyond all recognition to get to the back teeth, I figure it's good preparation for what's to come.

corgi

After first baby it was (cough)four days (cough)...DH tells me I told the midwives this very proudly while on the gas and air as they did my stitches this time! To be fair DH normally works nights so we wouldn't be even sharing a bed until nearly end of March when his week off falls......

Not convincing you am I?

Wheelybug · 09/03/2009 14:45

Wow ! Congratulations joanne - another swift labour for the March gals (anyone else thinking long labours must be due to some... gulp ). Lovely name too !

laumiere - sex 14 days post stitches - blimey.... .

As for trying to get things started I have tried reflexology (final appointment tomorrow) which may or may not have helped to get the baby engaged, clary sage (irritates my skin), raspberry leaf tea (gives me heartburn), pineapple (ditto heartburn), curry (don't think it was hot enough), sniffing a newborn (well he was 6 weeks old), lots of walking (knackers me out). Gosh if things get really desperate I might even have to try sex.

Oh well, having a sweep on friday so we'll see what that does.

Laurenypops · 09/03/2009 15:38

Congratulations to all have their new arrivals - I'm not at all jealous! I'm 2 days over today and feel more comfortable today than I have all week! Went 9 days over with DD, so hopefully not long to go. Sex is what brought her into the world, but not feeling that desperate yet! Hats off to you laumiere!

I'm with you meep on the subject of leaving my DD. I hopefully won't be away long at all, but am worried about how she will adapt to the big change that is about to affect all our lives. Trying to really enjoy these last days with just her, although not easy when I can hardly move, and feel permanently exhausted!

Good luck to all of you on the brink, and to those with slightly longer to wait, it will be worth it!

titmouse · 09/03/2009 16:05

afternoon ladies,

welcome to all the new babies!! Coming thick and fast notw and you are all choosing such lovely names.

meep thanks loads for your comments about friendships post-natally, it is reassuring and helped loads. Also glad to see I'm not the only new mum wondering about these things.

Hedgewitch really hope your turn comes soon! it feels like you've been hanging in there so long now.

Nothing to report here, my sister and her jack russell have come to look after me for a week which is lovely and it would be great if the baby came while they were here, although not entirely sure about HB with a jack russell jumping all over me!

positive labour vibes to all those who are nearly there xxxx

Madigan · 09/03/2009 16:57

Congratulations Joanne - hope the birth was ok, and what a lovely name for your little girl.
Nothing to report here. Still waiting .... but only 37+3 so not really at the front of the queue yet ...

SpookyMadMummy · 09/03/2009 18:15

Hi everyone. Blimey more babies!! congratulations to all!

I went to see the Midwife for my 38 week check today and in the urine sample there was glucose, when I produced one there and then there were leucocytes and ketones but no glucose
She did a random blood sugar test there and then and called the hospital to clarify that the GTT I had at 28 weeks was negative (it was) and then started on again about GBS.
I was diagnosed with GBS after having Dd2. I should have had antibiotics in labour but they didn't tell me I had GBS until 36 hours after I delivered her and was almost on my way home so I ended up another 3 days in hospital so DD could have IVAB's.
The new protocol since Dd2's birth is unless I show a symptom of GBS (excessive or smelly discharge) I will not be swabbed or offered IVAB's in labour. The midwife today was pressuring me to have the test although I have no outward symptoms. Thus far I have refused it.
She was saying that because I had leucocytes in my urine it may be a sign of GBS???
I called the local hospital to clarify the protocol and the midwife I spoke to there seemed happy with me planning to come home soon after the birth with information on what to look for in the baby should infection occur. I am happy with that tbh. I really do not want to stay in hospital. And to think I was offered a homebirth!!

SpookyMadMummy · 09/03/2009 18:28

Oh, and, for the first time this pregnancy, I have weighed myself at home. It seems that from when I was last weighed at Ante Natal 2 weeks ago I have lost half a stone!!

babyinbelly · 09/03/2009 19:27

No signs here. A bit reassured that my nesting picked up again today. Have been non stop cleaning all day!

Congrats to Jollyjoanne. Love the name.

Spookymadmummy. I didn't understand any of that!!! Not up on the letters!

Hope things start moving for you soon hedgewitch.

I am 3 days overdue and no signs yet. DS was 12 days late so not expecting anything for a while!

SpookyMadMummy · 09/03/2009 19:45

Sorry
GBS - Group B Strep
GTT - Glucose tolerance test
IVAB - Intravenous antibiotics

Boobz · 10/03/2009 01:57

Nearly 2am in the morning and I can't sleep. Keep convincing myself in my half-waking that I am in labour and then wake myself up properly to find out I am not and am just missing out on proper sleep trying to convince myself I am all the time. Is it possible to will yourself into labour? Dog asleep, cat asleep, DH asleep. I really want to sleep. But it's not working.

Damn the house is cold at night out of the bed. And my left hip aches but I don't want to go back to bed and sleep on my right hip as I am scared baby will move to right OA from it's good Left OA position it's it now. Silly woman.

Post midnight ramblings of a heavily pregnant woman. Fab.

Madigan · 10/03/2009 07:38

Good morning everyone ....
anyone else having quite painful BH contractions? Sure that is what they are, as they are sporadic, but been having them since about 3am! Feels like mild period pain ....

itsazoohere · 10/03/2009 08:39

Hey everyone, sorry for hijacking this thread, but Honey is in labour! (I'm her dsis and birthing partner along with her dh). Her waters broke at five, and the midwife is on her way. It's so exciting!
Will keep you posted.

itsazoohere · 10/03/2009 08:40

(Ooops, SO excited I posted twice )

meep · 10/03/2009 08:56

Hi itsazoohere - oooooooooo - lots of good luck vibes to Honey

I love logging on in the morning to see if we have any more babies.

Madigan quite a few folk have been having painful Bh on and off. The only thing I can say is that once labour had started for me, boy did I know about it!! Definitely different to any pre-labour twinges

Boobz - that sounds rubbish for you. If it makes you feel any better (probably doesn't) I was up for 2 hours - not because of imminent labour but because of a small wailing toddler who just wanted cuddles ! Hopefully you are safely tucked up in bed right now - I am using c-beebies to babysit while I try to sit quietly with a cup of tea while dd dances round the room !

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 09:43

ooh hooray for honey - give her a cheer from the sidelines from us. Look forward to hearing the news.

Boobz and meep - sorry you had rubbish nights. Not that I mean to rub it in but apart from the 4 or so toilet trips a night and the odd position shuffling wake up I'm sleeping pretty well... long may it last.

However, my morning sickness returned this morning (Having disappeared for 3 weeks and 4 days !) - obviously convincing myself its a sign of imminent labour rather than the rather too hot goulash I eat last night.

Off for my last reflexology session in a bit. In some ways time seems to have really dragged the last few weeks but then when I think I've got through all my reflexology sessions it seems to have gone quite quickly !

I wonder how Emma is ? Who else has been missing for a day or two - MKG ? (although she keeps teasing us and popping back up), slick, corgi.... report in girls or we'll start rumours .

Wheelybug · 10/03/2009 09:44

Madigan - meant to say, I've had a lot of BH that have taken my breath away. I wouldn't descrive them as painful but quite uncomfortable and stop me doing what I'm doing. Have had them for about 2 weeks I think. But, having said that, I wouldn't describe them as period pain so maybe its a start for you.....

corgikelly · 10/03/2009 10:20

Hey Wheely - I'm still here with nothing to report (and as I'm only at 38 weeks today, no surprise there).

Still feeling rubbish, though, with dizziness and queasiness and backache. I have an appointment/monitoring with the midwife tomorrow morning, so I expect she'll tell me whether that's normal (or maybe not -- she's not the most helpful person in the world...)

lollipopz · 10/03/2009 10:56

Good luck to Honey! I am another one still here. Starting to think i will still be here myself when everyone else has moved to post natal thread! Trying to talk dh into joining me for some baby evicting fun this evening though he looked slightly horrified at the thought! I still have 2 weeks till official dd but original one only a week away so getting impatient! Sorry for the lack of paragraphs etc I am MNing from my mobile at the moment as I am to lazy to treck upstairs to the computer! Take care everyone. x

babyinbelly · 10/03/2009 10:57

Emmas been gone for a long while. Sure she must just be preoccupied with new arrival. Hoping so.

Suffering today after nesting yesterday. Back aching hips aching etc.

Worried now about how baby sitting. Has hard belly all over but now very soft and saggy at the bottom and hard at top and sides. Hoping its not sideways?! 4days overdue now so not a good time to be moving when it was nicely engaged!

Sorry to hear of those who had a bad night. I slept like a log for first time in weeks. Unfortunatly this meant I was snoring horrendously and DP ended up on the sofa. . How guilty do I feel?- not really TBH. I deserve the sleep!

babyinbelly · 10/03/2009 10:59

Oh yeah. Sorry Honey. meant to say good luck, hope all goes well. Know you were quite overdue too so best wishes to you and baby.

Yarnie · 10/03/2009 11:44

What a lovely lot of babies! Well done all you Mums. It's lovely to hear/read the news of the new arrivals as it reminds me it will happen soon. I'm 38+4 today and there's not a whiff of labour for me. If anything I feel more comfortable than I have for a week or so. I have a strong feeling I am going to watch my due date come and go. Oh well. The little guy will come when he's ready .
