I had a weak Margarita on New Years Eve actually. I have to say it was horrible. It took me several hours to get through it, and felt I had to drink it as our hostess made such a fuss about making margaritas for everyone. And I'd really been looking forward to a glass of champagne.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:38

I'm having champagne for Mothering Sunday, see Springy, any old excuse.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:39

He wanted £1.50 a week, too. Who can really sign up to that sort of thing? Especially with a baby on the way - it's a massive upheaval of finances & will take a while to settle down to the point where it's okay to make commitments like that. I don't even really care about birds, to be honest! I obviously would never hurt them, but gosh... & if I were going to donate to a charity regularly, it would be a people charity.

I was going to rant about the student thing, but then remembered that I'd told him I was on maternity leave to make him stop judging me already, so just told him I'd bear it in mind & let him touch my hand with his weird gloves.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:39

Puzzle I think at the very least someone on an ex offender programme should have some sort of ID and literature about the programme they are on to verify who they are. But I can't imagine any programme like that sending people out to knock randomly on people's doors.

I think I might have pretended I didn't speak English

brettgirl2 · 05/03/2009 13:39

Puzzle I think you were spot on, it isn't the most attractive of introductions.

I now have two bottles of champers in the cupboard sighhhh

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:42

Haha, Puzzle! The ex-offender programmes are good in principle, but I wouldn't want any of them in my house. I'm sure they're all lovely, reformed characters (well, not sure ), but nonetheless! To be honest, I find the idea of inviting strangers in just because they've knocked on your door a bit uncomfortable anyway. Jehovah's Witnesses, for example - I'd put good money on you being physically safe with them, but it's still allowing people into your territory with no reason to trust them.

& as for the champagne, I can't say I'm surprised I also can't really comment, because I had a couple of glasses at our wedding & thoroughly enjoyed it with minimal guilt.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:43

I've been getting wierd calls on my mother's landline asking if they can discuss my home security. They seem to want to head in the direction of where the security 'weakspots' are (ie - "we'd like to discuss with you how we can most effectively burgle you". - yeah, cheers for that).

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:45

Have image in head of Springy kicking ducks.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:46

Brettgirl - why are they still there? It doesn't last very long in this house?

Lulu - That sounds extremely suspicious.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:48

"Uhuh, yes. Right. So the lock on the back door is a bit flimsy, but you keep your valuables safely stashed under your bed? That's good - very clever. I see you don't need our help! Now, you seem like a lovely woman & I've actually just moved into the area & haven't made any friends yet. Do you know of any good nights out? You know, something that you do regularly outside the home? A bridge club every Tuesday, for example? Oh! Really? Every second Friday? What sort of time is that running?"

Actually, I bet some people really would fall for that

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 13:49

I've just popped on quickly to catch up and see that even more babies have been born. Huge congrats to Barb and Kazz. I hope that they both make a quick recovery and get to see their babies soon.

I'm off for a nap now. DD is driving me round the bend today with her behaviour. I do not know how she has managed to stay in one piece with her monkey-style climbing and hanging off of pieces of furniture/high up windowsills etc today. She has managed to break my nursing chair too I know that I'm a bit grumpy because I am knackered and that she is playing me up because we stayed in for a large chunk of the morning. I also know that she just wants more attention, but, for goodness sake.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I am too tired for this sort of behaviour! How dare my DH have to go away this weekend? I want to hibernate. And, I had some annoying woman manage to talk her way into the flat this morning and then try and convince me to switch energy supplier.

I'll try and be in a better mood when I come back online later.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:51

Me & DH

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 13:51

I reckon the birds are happier with a bit of bread in the garden than £1.50 a week for the RSPB to spend on sending men round to beg at people's doors.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:52

LOL Springy.

I love that film.

"Pies? What sort of pies?"
"Apple pies"

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 13:52

I don't want to be a pie! I don't like gravy.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:53

Swali, sorry you're having a tough day. Can the chair be fixed? I hope DD settles down a bit. & you have my sympathy for dealing with irritating cold callers today Enjoy your nap xx

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 13:55

Actually Springy, it was not the KGB, it was probably the nookie police checking to see if you are being a Good Girl.

brettgirl2 · 05/03/2009 13:57

It's still there because most people could open the bottle and DH would drink more than half, leaving you with two small glasses. Mine hardly drinks at all, so I'd end up throwing half of it away. It seems a bit of a waste!!! At least he NEVER goes out and comes back pissed (and will always drive when we go out) so it does have some compensations

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 14:00

Ooh, the carpet chappies are here and doing their finest work in my bathroom. Hopefully after this we will be able to hear a bit less weeing from upstairs while we are in the kitchen.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 14:00

Maybe I should go & rant on the 'Chicken Keepers' topic?

& Boffin, I am being a Good Girl, even though it's almost killing me. Especially last night when DH was being all snuggly & kissing my neck & ears in bed. It's like torture. Not only do I really, really want sex, just knowing that I can't makes me even more desperate.

I can't wait to not be pregnant & to be able to have normal people sex. I know that it's difficult to find the time / energy / inclination with a small baby, but the novelty of being able to have a good roll around will be motivation enough for a little while, I think.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 14:01

it's a shame Smutts isn't here to comment on the men performing their finest work on your carpet, Boff Will it match the curtains?

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 14:02

Is it a shagpile Boff?

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 14:02

Springy, I always managed to find the time with a small baby, it depends on people's libido I think, which in turn depends on their hormones. You do become masterful at the quickie though.

Bleuravin · 05/03/2009 14:03

Well I just finished reading everything and making comments...but I realised I didn't write any of it down! (i was just thinking comments) I'm a real nutter lately. Couldn't remember the word 'money' earlier and so I told my husband to transfer fancy L's into our computer (also couldn't remember the words 'online account') Thank GOD he can translate most of my nonsense. I told him under no circumstances is he to leave me alone with people 'who don't speak my own language' when I'm laboring...To which he laughed and assured me he wouldn't because he'd come back with me in tears and the other people holding a straight jacket...

Yeah babies! Hope everyone is happy and healthy and united shortly.

Had a lovely dream about my baby last night; I was just holding him/her and admiring tiny long fingers and wiggly toes. BUt then the baby wanted feeding and I had to say my milk had not come in yet... but I was still very happy having a baby all my own.

Went to the MW again today and my BP is highish again, but urine has no trace; MW is coming around on Sat. to give me another check over, just in case. She hinted at me possibly going under time because of my agitation and increased hormone levels...So today I'm washing the early baby clothes and diapers to hang out in the sun.

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 14:03

Lulu, wash your mouth out.

I am missing Nutty.

They are just grappling with their grippers at the moment.
