lol so are you ditching the books now?

Bleuravin · 06/03/2009 14:46

(I was really thinking the books were for afterwards when I'm up in the middle of the night and cannot sleep)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 06/03/2009 14:47

well you will be in hospital, so book in hand whilst in hospital pic will be fine (the white knuckles will reveal all lol )

Bleuravin · 06/03/2009 14:49

But I'm up to try the book reading in labor... the MWs will think 'yanks are bloody strange' I've got a very open mind about laboring techniques...then afterwards I'll write my own book about reading while birthing is the only way to go...ANd I'll be a millionaire Then I won't have to worry about Zurich and Dh's job prospects

bronze · 06/03/2009 14:50

sooo organised. I have all the things you've said on my list but could I remember them. I also have witch hazel and gauze which is mylifesaver

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 06/03/2009 14:50

you will sleep honest, and when you're not sleeping you will be feeding xx dont waste your energy on books.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 06/03/2009 14:53

Hi everyone!

I've just had my scan and I'm happy to say that everything is looking a lot better The baby seems to have grown nicely in the last two weeks.

So, at the moment it looks as if my hopes for a home birth are back on - hurrah! Well, my reasoning is that because I have been so organised this year and packed a hospital bag, properly I will end up having the baby at home, because in the past when I was so disorganised I had to have the baby in hospital. Anyway, hopefully it won't dip again.

Sorry to hear you have had such a problematic pregnancy, Nutty - if you think a c-section would be better for you then press for it, imo. I do get a little frustrated by the approach of hospital staff. I will be avoiding induction, especially if it is advised before I get to term. If they want to try the gel to get me going, they can - but nobody is going to break my waters or go near me with a syntocinon drip!

Interesting to read the discussion on cervix issues. When I'm not pregnant, mine feels like a plastic button. At the moment it seems to be much higher up than usual, so I guess I'm not about to go into labour. Happily, the night time contractions have stopped for the time being at least! They were making me feel very irritable and cross

Just having funny images of Bleu crowning away with her head in a book!!!

Think everyone has covered most things off, I would say you just need more of everything!

Bleuravin · 06/03/2009 15:05

As if! Especially with my first pregnancy.
what you must think I'm capable of!?

Swaliswan · 06/03/2009 15:06

ROFL!

Good to hear you are so happy, Electra!

I have increasingly painful earache I'm off to take some paracetamol and sit quietly whilst I wait for DD to wake up.

bronze · 06/03/2009 15:07

Depends what you count as labour. I think of it as when you reach the point when you can't concentrate on anything else

mrsfossil · 06/03/2009 15:08

Hi all no more news yet from barb.

Heres a couple of things to add to the hospital bag lis'

soft moist toilet tissues, haven't had a natural birth but these were recommended if your undercarriage is a bit sore after delivery.

anti bac wipes and gel just incase things don't seem as cleans as you would like.

I did take in baby toiletries and wipes when i had ds but mw really frowned upon these saying baby only needed plain water with bits of cotton wool in the first few weeks, because of delicat skin. Although i did mutter boll*ks to that faff under my breath. The wipes and johnsons baby wash came out as soon as i got home. Ds soon looked cleaner and smelt lovely and never had any skin probs.
