Right then, I can't stand the mad scrolling any more so I'm starting a new thread.

Hope you feel better today, fashill. Hugs. Don't worry about the stretchmarks. Wear them with pride as my last midwife told me...

Saw a midwife yesterday. Yet again a new one! On the upside, she said that what I experienced last week was probably pre-labour and that she doesn't expect me to go full-term! Wahey! Knowing my luck, I'll still be here at 42 weeks though. Feeling much more positive now generally.

OP posts:

fashill · 21/04/2005 11:30

Woowweee!!! How the hell am I going to catch up with what's going on!! 35 weeks tomorrow too and really can't wait until the little man is born now. Really getting fed up with sleep deprevation, bad back, feeling fat, sore stretchmarks and lack of clothing options!! But still remember how lucky I am to be PG.

DP keeps saying 'I think it's going to happen tonight' and then getting really disappointed when we wake in the morning and nothing has happened. Im really happy he's so excited but keep telling him little one will be better off staying in there a little bit longer even though mummy is suffering. I know I'll probably be on here still at 42wks with no news and being sick of rasberry leaf tea, pineapple and sex!

NCT classes finish next week and have really enjoyed them. One of the couples didn't come on Monday as they had a little boy on Friday!! Early at 37 wks but all okay so we are all jealous!

Hope everyone who's not feeling too great is feeling better and enjoying the sunshine and those of you who feel great, I hate you

Brighteyes · 21/04/2005 11:38

Samcattie. I got the oil from here oil

It cost £9.95 plus p&p but I've read in one of my pg magazines that its one of the best on the market.

fashill · 21/04/2005 12:08

Brighteyes I can't believe you paid the P & P on that!! Seems a little steep. Do you know if they sell it anywhere else?!?

Been thinking of doing it as I've heard lots of people talking about it being a good idea but has anyone actually done it for a previous labour and do they recommend it (Sorry if it already says further down the thread!)

Brighteyes · 21/04/2005 12:31

Fashill it is a bit steep but I thought its a small price to pay if it helps prevent me being stitched. Would hate to be lying in the hospital in agony wondering if it could have been prevented for the sake of a couple of quid.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative mind you can just use olive oil, almond oil or even k-y jelly. From what I've read its more important to do the actual massage rather than what oil you use to do it.

claudi2 · 21/04/2005 14:57

Just got back from consultant, said baby was on its way down(should certainly hope so), but not to worry as with a third one it could literally engage on the day ... so I guess I'll plod along

Cab, I'm just due a couple of days after you, so as soon as we feel recovered enough ....

fashill · 21/04/2005 15:36

Yeah I suppose you're right Brighteyes I'm just being tight!

My friend just called to say her auntie has just had a little boy!! That's the 3rd newborn boy this week for people I know who didn't know what they were having!! I'm so jealous!!

dabihp · 21/04/2005 16:39

Hi everyone, I am 35 weeks today...

Have to see consultant tomorrow to decide if I can try for natural birth, or if he thinks i need another cs (dd - 2.5yrs. was elective cs due to head nto engaging, but took so long to heal and couldnt get epidural in so had to knock me out at last moment, am a bit traumatised so would prefer vbac...and midwife supportive of me trying this)

Anyway, as all of you are, i am getting a bit peeved off with still being pregnant, weather warming up, no sleep, too much weight/strecthmarks, cant wait to have baby...

Midwife advised me to leave rasoberry leaf tea till 36 weeks, but think I will start drinking from tomorrow...

Might go and find old thread so i can cathc up on all your pregnancies!!!

fashill · 21/04/2005 16:55

Hi dabihp you're at the same stage as me so I know exactly how you're feeling!!

Try the stats page for a catch up and add a post \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2290&threadid=63722&rnd=09456631007516886}stats

I hope that works!!!

Good luck with the consultant

fashill · 21/04/2005 16:57

stats

Obviously not!! I'll try once more

uwila · 21/04/2005 17:28

Hiya everyone. I'll be 35 weeks on Sunday. My due date is on 29 May but I'm planning a caesarean, so somewhere around 22 of May (or sooner if I get any say in the schedule). So, I suppose most of you will have your babies before me. Last time, though, I was 2 weeks over due, when was horrid. So, very glad I won't be repeating that experience.

Oh, and someone asked about a sweep, I have one last time and it was bloody painful. She told me I would feel a bit of discomfort. And I then learned that discomfort is a medical euphamism for bloody painful. AS I understand it, however, not everyone finds it so painful.

Hi Dabihp. Interesting that you had a c-section because baby didn't engage. Mine didn't engage either, but no one had the wisdom to suggest to me that I might want to have an elective caesarean... wish they had. I ended up in emergency c-section. And, unlike you, I very much want a planned elective c-section this time.

Will let you all know on May 5 (when I meet with consultant) what the verdict is.

dabihp · 21/04/2005 19:58

uwila, any idea why baby didnt engage?

I take it you recovered all right from emergency? were you awake?

uwila · 21/04/2005 20:17

yes, I know why. Baby neve engaged because she was all wrapped up in the cord (twice around her neck, around the torso, then around the foot little tarzan woman!) So, when I was induced, the contractions forced her down, the cortightened around her little neck and her heart rate dropped fetal distress). So, off we went for an emergency caesarean. They upgraded my epidural to a block, but it didn't take effect fast enough and they wanted to deliver her, so they knocked me out (which was a more than welcome oppotunity for me). Recovery wasn't too bad (or I've forgotten).

Brighteyes · 21/04/2005 20:24

Uwila do you feel they are leaving it late to do the c-section, only a week before your due date?

I'm going to be assessed nine days before my edd to decide if I need a c-section but feel that this is a gamble leaving it so close to my due date. Do you worry that you may end up having to go through labour and emergency section because they are not allowing enough time for the elective?

myermay · 21/04/2005 20:51

Message withdrawn

dabihp · 21/04/2005 21:06

Brighteyes, why do u need a section?

Brighteyes · 22/04/2005 00:26

Hi Dabihp. The reason that I'm being considered for a section is because I'm only 5ft and my dp is over 6ft. My community midwife things the baby will be to big for me to deliver naturally but the consultant disagrees and wants me to try a natural delivery with an emergency section if necessary.

I'm going to be assessed again in 2 weeks to check the size of the baby (hopefully I won't go into labour before then)

Weezle · 22/04/2005 08:42

Saw the midwife this week, and junior is still breech so we're headed for a c-section next wednesday! Brighteyes - that will be 9 days before our EDD and the consultant told us they usually do it 7-10 days before.

So, 5 days to go which is a very scary thought, although to be honest I'm more scared about being a mum than the actual op . This all seemed like such a good idea 9 months ago...

I guess maybe I should go an introduce myself on the April thread...

uwila · 22/04/2005 08:50

Yes, Brighteyes, I do feel waiting until 39 weeks is rather late to performing the caesarean. I also think not wanting to discuss it with me until 36 weeks is cause for unnecessary worry. I wanted to discuss and book the caesarean at my booking appointment (16 weeks). The consultant told me it was way too early for that conversation and we could discuss and make a decision at 36 weeks. I said ok at the time. But now at almost 35 weeks, I'm rather uncomfortable with the notion that I haven't even got a plan in place. Also, the hospital is quite far from me, and if I should go into labour before the planned section, then I will have to figure out how to get from Sunbury to Acton with a toddler in tow. Somehow, I don't think this is an realistic task. We have a nanny now, but she is leaving on 13 May... oh what terrible timing. So, when I go talk to the consultant at 36 weeks (05 May, which is really just a few days short of 37 weeks), I plan to ask for them to give me a caesarean at 38 weeks rather than 39 weeks. I'm expecting that they will not agree to do it, but I am fully prepared to beg in hopes of persuading them. I know they prefer 39 weeks just in case you have your dates wrong and they could end up delivering a premature baby. But my dates are definitely spot on. I have a nuchal scan (two of them in fact) to back up the dates. And, as a baby is considered full term at 37 weeks, I don't see that the risks of one week earlier really outweigh the risks of having to drive me, unborn baby, and toddler to hospital in horrific traffic. I live in Sunbury. The hospital is in ACton (Queen Charlotte), and my husband works in Birmingham. I would have to drive through Twickenham, Richmond, Chiswick/Ealing, ACton. It is windy twisty, lots of roundabouts, and some of the worst traffic in London. It is easily a two hour drive in rush hour.

fashill · 22/04/2005 09:32

Myermay - I've ordered my TENS from Mothercare but they deliver at 37 wks too. Really could do with it now for my back pain! Does anyone know where you get spare batteries from?!?

Isn't it mad Weezle to know you're going to have your little one here for sure next week!!

Haven't you got anyone to drive you Uwila?!? I do M4 junction 4 to Notting Hill every day for work and it's horrible enough!!

northstar · 22/04/2005 09:45

OMG how this conversation has progressed! I think I've changed my mind altogether after reading the thread "is childbirth the worst pain ever". Is it too late?
I'm seeing consultant on Monday, to make a plan and like Uwila, I'm not too proud to beg. I really want help and monitoring on this one after ds.

uwila · 22/04/2005 09:48

No. Although a friends husband who works in Sunbury has offered to take DD off my hands if this should happen whilst he's at work. Even if I had someone to drive me, I could still have the problem of getting there in time. And I just saw a thread about someone giving birth in her car... some things I really shouldn't read.

cab · 22/04/2005 09:49

Hi Tex I've replied over on the due November board - so pleased for you.
Weezle you lucky thing knowing an exact date!
Uwila that sounds like a nightmare of a journey -no wonder you're worried.

northstar · 22/04/2005 10:00

Dont read the "giving birth in a car" thread either, it's only putting me off more. I have a minimum 3/4hr drive to hospital, traffic or no traffic - that's the country for you. Although if it got desperate i suppose a farmer would know how to help (joke)

fashill · 22/04/2005 10:14

Oh Uwila!! I'm worrying about you now

Isn't it bad that when you're told not to read something you really want to!!

Really getting peed off with my sore stretchmarks on my belly! Anyone know of anything that will sooth them?!? I know they are here to stay now but really irritating me

fisil · 22/04/2005 10:43

I can't get my rubber gloves on any more. Is it time to give up washing up?
