theboob-you should feel better in a few days.

I keep feel flutterings especially when I drink my cold soda water. Can't be the baby though can it? Loving my baggy maternity jeans and tops. Nothing pressing on my bump and making me uncomfortable.

Must go, potty training to do. Love to all.

Morning all, glad to hear your bean is ok theboob!

Have been wearing my mat jeans at home and saving my last few trousers that fit for when I see people! Am sooooo tired, dd has started getting up at 6.30 something I couldn't cope with if I wasn't pg, so am sitting here struggling to keep my eyes open.

Hope everyone has a good day.

CalypsoFlame · 09/03/2009 10:37

theboob Get well soon, I can't imagine being poorly on top of how rubbish I generally feel!

I also am tentively thinking that I have a 'bump' although its definitely VERY squishy and watery and certainly not proper baby bump yet haha. I think its psychologically bigger than it is in reality - I tried on a 'belly band' to see if I could hold it in and band fell off. So not quite maternity bump yet

I hired a fetal doppler last week, as the temptation to aquire more technology was too alluring. It took a few goes (and LOTS of glasses of water to fill up my bladder!) but I'm pretty sure I heard the baby's heart beat. Watched quite a few YouTube videos to get the hang of how to do it and what to listen for, but I think I heard it
It's hard not to give into tempation and try it over and over again, but it recommends once a week and no more than every 3 days. Looking forward to having a listen again tomorrow!
I was 10+3 when I tried it.

Hope the rest of you have a lovely week X

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2009 11:27

Oh, I bought a doppler but am struggling to pick up a fetal heartbeat as the LCD shows a lower rate than it should be. I must go on You Tube and see if I can find the video. I use it on a Tuesday and a Friday so that should be OK.

sammysam · 09/03/2009 12:15

I'm feeling bad today as well-think I tend to feel worse on mondays as we have such busy weekends-dp doesn't like sitting still!!! The whole way through tumble tots i was just thinking 'don't be sick' over and over again . Was supposed to be seeing a friend this arvo but think I just need to try and doze on the sofa......

Bella-i don't have much advice-we haven't changed dd's cotbed into the bed yet as although she is a very good sleeper we are convinced that when we do she'll be popping in in the middle of the night she is 3 at the end of july! I hope you managed to get a lovely early night and no visit from your dd

1 week tomorrow til scan. I'm excited and scared now, I hadn't let myself get excited about it but it has gradually happened without me meaning to......I just hope it doesn't set me up for a big fall [fingers crossed]

Hope everyone is feeling well today

Treats · 09/03/2009 12:36

Hi everyone.

I ventured into the maternity shops for the first time on Saturday. Bought a bump band and a wrap cardigan and hope that these will see me through the first stages of expansion - one under and one over my usual clothes. Don't need either just yet, but feel happier knowing that they're in the drawer and ready to be deployed.......

Also bought some Mamma Mio tummy rub oil. Got suckered by the packaging which said that it alleviated itchy tummy in the early months. This has really been a problem for me - to the extent that I've actually got a bit of scarring where I've been scratching too much. Should have checked the price tag first though - £23.50 . Just another payment of 'stupid tax'. Tried it out yesterday and today though and it certainly seems to have made a difference.

Can't remember who said it, but yes, the wax did hurt more than normal!! Can just about handle a lip wax (all over in 3 minutes), but don't think I could quite face a whole leg wax. I shall stick to my trusty depilator, although that's still quite bad.....

Sorry to hear that some people are still feeling so bad - especially theboob after all you went through last week. Hopefully it WILL start to get better soon.

doggus · 09/03/2009 12:47

bella - I feel your pain - ds comes into our bed every night at 3am. He's 21 months so still in a cot but just shouts dada repeatedly til we give in. We love having him in there tbh but like you am terrified what will happen when the new baby comes along, our bed isn't big enough!

littlepea72 · 09/03/2009 13:24

Bella, my DS is 5 in May, we had such a hard time with him coming into our bed, and have now mastered it, it was hard. He wouldnt go to sleep in his own bed, so we gave in and put a dvd/tv in his room so he could fall asleep watching it, thank god it worked as i would be beside him up to 2 hours a night. He would then come in at night, but i would just get up and put him back in, sit on the end of the bed untill he went back to sleep. I will amitt that that took about 2 weeks to master, but it was worth it, now he might come in the odd time, but i just steer him back in and he stays there. Hard to do, but it is worth it, and now i know that with my bump growing its going to be harder to roll out of the bed in a couple of months, and the nightmare is now over. Hope it helps......

MrsPuddleduck · 09/03/2009 13:43

Right, just ordered two books off Amazon for DS1 (5) - Mummy Laid and Egg and Hello Baby. I will review upon delivery for anyone else stressing about how they are going to explain how it got in there!

MrsPuddleduck · 09/03/2009 13:46

Sorry, should be "Mummy laid an Egg"

Cazza28 · 09/03/2009 13:55

Just wondering, do you have to have an internal exam when you go for your booking in appointment?

smallone · 09/03/2009 14:20

Cazza ime mw's and gps are very reluctant to do anything "invasive" unless absolutely necessary. The first internal I had was when I was in labour.

HappyTangerine · 09/03/2009 14:28

Hi everyone

Yay - I have some appointment dates at last! Next Monday (16th with midwife at the surgery and 24th at local hospital for my first scan. Stupidly nervous now.

Have been terribly sick, 3 times today so far. Am hoping this will be the worst week. Dh joking that I have narcolepsy because I'm sleeping all the time - he'd be the same if he had to get up at all hours of the night to pee! Plus I think my body clock is still on work hours even tho I've left-I stil wake at 4am with no need for an alarm

doggus and spongebrainbigpants - wishing you all the best for tomorrow, will be thinking of you. x

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2009 14:31

Cazza-the MW just asks lots of questions, no examinations at all.

Willmouse-DD1 believes that her and DD2 were twinkle, twinkle, little stars in the sky so have never actually corrected her. She remembers talking to DD2 in the sky while looking down at me and DH. This baby is of course another star until she is older.

Thats great thank you, I was beginning to get all in a fluster thinking about it! Silly I know but if my first one is labour that will suit me fine!

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2009 14:36

HappyTangerine-we share the same scan date. Can be nervous together, what time is yours as mine is 9-50am

To doggus and sponge-will be thinking about you both tomorrow.

Bella Ds started coming into our bed between 3 and 4 a.m. randomly after sleeping through for a couple of months in his cot bed. He used to pop in between 6-7 a.m and sleep for an hour or so in our bed (less if it was later) which was fine by us.

Anyway i found the trick to stop him coming in at 3 a.m was to change his sleep pattern at 10-11p.m when i went to bed i would wake him gently, not so he's fully awake but enough for him to push me away or make a sound. This then changes his sleep pattern and he's too tired to wake up at 3 and sleeps untill 6+ a.m.

I think the term is 'the wake to sleep technique' or something anlong those lines any who, it worked for us. It can't do any harm to try!

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2009 15:09

Bella-I have no advice on the sleeping I'm afraid as I flatly refuse to share my bed with the girls. Have always comforted them in their own bed and have a stairgate across DD2's door to stop any wanderings, not that she does. Hope you get something sorted before the baby is born.

Hi to all.Yipee another week here we go.
Been feeling pretty rubbish.sick and exhausted. My lovely mum is here today and has brought dinner for the children so I dont have to face food.I am getting exhausted eatting to keep the sickness under control/I also feel like I have run a marathon. After 11 hours sleep last night I could of stayed in bed all day.No such luck.

Had my booking in appointment with MW on Fri she was so lovely I could of brought her home. She said that birth no.4 should not be to bad,I hope she is right. She also said that she would put herself on the labour ward for October (she is the head midwife)I hope she is working when this baby arrives.
DD1 is 9 tomorrow so I am off to wrap pressys before she comes home from school.

Keep well x

Cazza28 · 09/03/2009 16:56

Good Luck to all with scans tomorrow (I am sure I read there were at least to) Ignore me if I am talking nonsense!

I am so tired I am sitting hare head down eyes closed with pen poised as though I am about to write I am debating drawing tip-ex eyes on my glasses - seriously I will try anything!!!!! Working 8 till 5:30 with half hour lunch is a killer although not working Fridays is a bonus!

Cazza28 · 09/03/2009 17:01

Two not to!

Sugarkane · 09/03/2009 17:16

Hi all, could you please give a tired emotional wreck some sympathy LOL. I went for my booking in appointment today everything went well just need to wait for my scan now so they can tell me how far I am. Stupidly I decided to run some errands that I have been putting off on the way home and called into the council offices to hand a letter in, when I got there I got a really snotty woman who told me I had the wrong letter, and im embarrassed to say that I broke down in tears, right there at the desk. Poor snotty woman didnt know what to do. Im SOOOOOOO embarrassed . Please tell me im not they only one to feel like this. Oh an then to top it all of DP let me walk round town with make up down my face. Lol he was scared id cry more if he told me .

MustGetSleep · 09/03/2009 18:10

sugarkane - i did that at the drs the other week. It was like my face was just leaking!

Just checking in, lost you in my threads I'm on. My morning with no sickness was just that - a morning. Feeling like hell, trying to sleep for a bit now to function again this evening. On the plus side though - have lost 4lb

Bella - we have the same issue with DS, although this last week he has only been in once. I know I should be firm and put him back in his own bed, but he has done it for so long now, and I am so tired, I rarely wake as he gets in , I just roll over and find him wedged between us in the morning! Am hoping as he realises he won't fit he will stop, or I will just have to tackle it during 2nd trimester when I should be capable. MN toddler book sleep section has no advice for the child who just wants an extra body to sleep with

MustGetSleep · 09/03/2009 18:12

Just realised I have BellaSwann in my list of names

Oh, and ignore anyone with the rod for own back/shouldn't have started them coming in your bed crap - we did exactly the same with DD, and she refused to come in our bed from about 6 months. I think DS would have been worming his way in regardless of us stopping it tbh, he is that kind of child.
