Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Xena · 29/04/2005 13:25

Hello all thanks for thinking of me. Well the baby looked fine because they saw the heartbeat, I'm a little confused as they think that I am only 8 wks and 2 days (which means that I will be Dec but please let me stay) I'm confused because I tested 5 weeks ago?? It was n't one of the early tests either. Anyway the small bit of bad news is that they think it was caused by a cervical errosion which I had in my 2nd pg and it caused lots of bleeding (DD1 is 3 now and was born OK) so this doesn't bode well for the next 7mths and my bossy big sister says that I must give notice to the parents of the baby I look after so that I can rest in the day while the big children are at school and just work before and after school (i'm a childminder). Because DD2 is still a baby I reguarly have to pick both babies up at once and with my 2nd pg anything like that would have caused me to bleed. So its the right thing to do but I am dreading telling her.
Dangirl my thoughts are still with you thankyou for your kind words when you wished things would be ok for mexxxx

Diddle · 29/04/2005 13:37

Oh Xena - i am so relieved for you, thats great news. Thank goodness everything is ok.
I am lucky enough (as a childminder) that all my little ones are big enough to climb into the car etc on their own. I think you should take it easy in the day. wish i had a reason to do that.
Go and out your feet up and enjoy the sun.

Diddle · 29/04/2005 13:39

you stay on thsi thread Xena. I have and i'm not pregnancy anymore. i'm sure nobody would want you to go.

Xena · 29/04/2005 13:42

Thanks I hope I can stay its been so good having you all to talk to.

ChaCha · 29/04/2005 14:51

Xena - so glad that you saw heartbeat and all is well You must be sooo relieved!

Well, i just read this on my return home and found it amusing...

Emma's Diary - Week 8

Emma's Diary : Week 9
Medical File

I spent the first half of the week really stressed out. It's my own stupid fault for flicking through every single pregnancy book and magazine I could lay my hands on and reading all these scary statistics about one in eight pregnancies ending in miscarriage before 12 weeks. I knew that if anything happened it wouldn't be down to anything I'd done, but it was still hard to think happy thoughts about the baby with facts like that lurking at the back of my mind.

To make things worse, on Tuesday night I went for an Italian with the girls from work ? which was a good laugh as usual, although they must have known something was up because I was downing cranberry juice all night which is very un-me ? but I got into another panic when I got home as I realised that the lush chocolate mousse I'd been scoffing was a 'pregnancy no-no' as it had raw eggs in it.

I had to laugh...THAT IS ME!!!! So maybe i'm not the only first timer to be worried & nervous...i hope
Off back out in the lovely sunshine...its such a great day here!

Enthusia · 29/04/2005 18:23

Hiya all

Sorry been a while since posting, my nightmare head has been more of a nightmare than normal recently and I stood out and walked out on her, so it has been very tense and bust here. Back at school today but just really p*ssed off!!!!

So sorry to hear your news Dangirl, thinking of you.

Glad to hear your news was of a positive nature Xena - you must have been overcome with relief when you saw/heard that heart beat!!!

BEKsmum, what words of wisdom from you. I completely agree, although I too am a constant worrier since being pg, just like ChaCha. It was nice to hear someone saying it like it should be!!!

ChaCha - I really feel we must be long lost twins or something. My trapped wind has got so bad that I can not sleep and my poor DH has taken to putting lavender drops on his pillow so that he can smell something nice!!!!! Have not tried cooled boiled water but will def give it a go! I too am constantly worrying about my little bump, although since the scan this has eased, esp as I am 12 weeks today, so I feel a bit safer (whether I actually am or not). The article you mentioned made me LOL as last night at a restuarant I made our poor waitor run round after the chef, and then read some packets of stuff to make sure no raw eggs were used in the making of a chocolate and orange roulade .

As for my scan, it was quite surreal, the baby was moving so much, and literally the first thing we saw was it waving at us, how srange!!! The rest of the time it was giving little jumps with its hands in a praying position. So on our photo it looks as if it is sucking its thumb!!!!
They then checked all the limbs were there and then that the brain had two halves, they also checked I had a placenta and that the baby had an umbilical cord. After that they checked my Nuchal thingamy which put me at 1:4403 chance of having a downs syndrome baby and 1:46005 chance of having a baby with another genetic abnormality, which are both very low! My baby is 56mm at the mo, which is fine and which fits exactly with my due date! Next scan they said they would check lips, eyes, heart etc!

As for the urine, BEKs mum gave a great explanation of the tests carried out, I actually had a VERY high level of protein in mine and so had to go on antibiotics - I regulalry have kidney infections, so they reckoned it was another one.

I also have a question now, for those who have not fallen asleep reading this post!!!! Now that I am 12 weeks can I up my intake of alcohol, even just a little, one v.small glass of wine a week is getting me down a little now, and although I would rather that than a damaged baby, I would like a bit of a tipple. Any thoughts?

Also is anyone else eating for England? I seem to be consuming a huge amount of food, as I always feel starving, if I do not eat I get really sick, anyone else with this or with any thoughts on this? I don't want to end up the size of a house, and I have never been particularly small anyway!!!

Anyway will go before I bore you even more.

BBYYYYYEEEEEE

Enthusia · 29/04/2005 18:25

WOW do I get a prize for the longest post?!! Maybe a days ban from MN for boring everybody?! SORRY

HellKat · 29/04/2005 18:43

Xena- Wahoooooo fab news!!!
Any consolation, I had an erosion and had to have it cauterised. It posed no harm to ds2 nor that pg. Rest up and take it easy and enjoy getting people to run around after you.
Have a big grin on my face now!
Dangirl- Hunny how are you? Cat me if you need me.

Diddle · 29/04/2005 19:24

enthusia - glad to hear your scan went so well. I can't imagine how amazing it was for you to see your little one waving at you. what a relief.
I don't think i would risk anymore wine than you're having although its not really known to cause major damage at your stage. I would do a lot of research into it before you have anymore. I don't think i would feel happy having much wine in pregnancy, but obviously everyone is different.

Hope everyone is okay

ChaCha · 29/04/2005 20:01

Enthusia, i'm so happy to hear your news. I've been wondering where you are, and to be honest, MN is not the same without you!

As for your head, well just keep your chin up - summer holidays are just around the corner, although in saying that i have since gone part time and could not give a toss anymore, my priorities have all changed and i'm sick of sacrificing at the cost of my own health! (((venting)))

Wow, scan sounds so amazing, i really can't wait for mine. They are not offering me a 12 week one so am going to the private doctor for that. Its about 2 weeks away and a few days i think although am tempted to go at 11 weeks just to be on the safe side.

Can't comment on alcohol intake - don't drink but i have put on half a stone in the last few weeks it seems and am constantly nibbling, have a real big desire for ice lollies recently!

Dont stay away for so long, I miss ya!

Xena · 29/04/2005 20:19

Hk I thought they had got rid of it with a cheese loop?? but it seems its back. I'm supposed to have smears 6 monthly but obv can't till I've had the baby, the last one was ok but I'm alwys scared that the next one won't be, can't understand why people don't go for regular smears.
Enthusia Great to hear about your scan its amazing how much they grow in 4 wks the baby I saw today looked like a Jelly Bean with a heartbeat!

Xena · 29/04/2005 20:20

Sorry HK I thought they got rid of my erosion with a cheese loop I had it done after DD1, there was no cancerous cells.

BEKsmum · 29/04/2005 21:34

Xena, what great news you must be so relieved. The cervical erosion sounds a bit of a nightmare though, if you don't mind me asking do you know what causes it?, I'd never heard of it before.

We'll forgive you being a December baby and let you stay. Just like ChaCha, you're now stuck with us for the duration!!! How's your daughter?

Enthusia glad your scan went so well, it really is the most amazing sight isn't it. Don't know what to say about having a bit more wine really, it's all down to personal choice, but I do agree with Diddle, do your research first and then you can make an informed decison.

Chacha, pack it in you don't need that scan until 12 weeks!!! How would you like it if you were trying to sleep and someone kept coming in and opening the curtains just so they could see if you were all right
Also if you leave it till 12 weeks you can see a hell of a lot more, you should ask your dr or midwife if there is somehwere you can go to get a nuchal scan done, then you would definitely be seen between 11 & 14 weeks.
Loved the Emma's diary extract by the way, perhaps I should write the response - wht do you think?

I'm gonna go now as we had the evening from hell with ds as he had a massive tantrum over nothing which resulted in me taking away 5 black bags worth of toys before he would calm down and apologise .
Yes before you say it he is spoilt with toys but I love giving him new things to experiement with and now I'm absolutely whacked, I really do have a mini teenager on my hands at the moment so need all the rest I can get.

Dh is also waiting to get on here so he can play his game, speak to you all tomorrow girls and lets enjoy having partners around for three days to pamper us and alllow us to put our feet up.

HellKat · 30/04/2005 06:37

Xena- That's what they used on me. They used to smear test me every 3 months because they found some cancerous cells (got rid of those and the erosion with the loop thingy). Touch wood, the erosion only came back mildly. Did they explain to you what it is exactly? Now back to having smears done yearly. Horrid things lol.

HellKat · 30/04/2005 06:39

Beks- Poor you! Oh the amount of times I did that (toys in big bags) with ds1. The little bugger never cared though.
Typical bank holiday weather here so far! Raining!
Rodeo- How are you? Have'nt seen you in ages.

Xena · 30/04/2005 09:13

Beks we used to have the same trouble with DS but now he really cares about his beano collection which is currently in one of the top cupboards and he is getting back one at a time.
I'm not really sure how erosions happen?
ChaCha you sound excactly like me an hour after the scan yesterday I was already wondering if the baby was alright how paronoid am I.
DD2 is much better (back to normal really) we seem to be winning the battle of the antibiotics and have worked out by giving them to her by oral syringe that you can give her a tiny bit it takes ages to give her a dose and as she has to have 5 a day it feels like we are always giving her it. Dd1 is amazed by DD2 now shaking her head when she doesn't want something I love it when they are interested in each other.
Anyway hope everyone has a good weekend Must go as DD2 is stinking the room out!

HellKat · 30/04/2005 09:43

Glad she's on the mend Xena.
Apparently the erosion isn't an erosion as such. cervical inner cells reach the outer bit and bleed. Weird how they call it an erosion though?

BEKsmum · 30/04/2005 13:01

Xena & HK sounds like I might finally be on the right track regarding sorting out ds, do you have any other suggestions for what works, because at the moment our house is not a happy one as ds is completely out of control, shouting and screaming and tantruming. I think someone swapped him in the night for this little monster as he didn't used to be like it and dh & I are at our wits end as to what to do with him.

It's amazing what you learn on here, this erosion thing sounds a nightmare, does it hurt all the time or are you not aware of it until you're pregnant?

Xena, glad to hear your daughter is feeling better, the syringe trick is a good one especially if you can get it far enough into her mouth to squirt it down quickly!

Gonna go now as feeling rather sick and have to take the ratbag to drama in and hour and a half with his best buddy so need to go and find something fizzy to eat to beat the urge to hurl!

Not raining here yet but rather cloudy, enjoy the rest of your afternoon and I'll check in tonight for a chat before I fall asleep.

HellKat · 30/04/2005 18:09

Beks- I hate that age! Remember it oh so well. If he's got that bad recently, have you thought of looking into foods or additives that may set it off? I know there's a big thing going on atm about the bright yellow, blue colourings etc. Basically anything that's got lots of E numbers are main triggers. Did'nt work on ds1 though, cutting them out, stayed that way for a few months.
You could always just cheat and send him running around the garden or a field somewhere with a ball for an hour or two while you sit relax. Should wear him out!
Have a great weekend all.

Xena · 01/05/2005 09:07

We tried that too Hk we cut out all e numbers and also gave him fish oils. We still don't give him E no's but we gave up on the fish oils as he used to say they were naughty pills. (I honestly did't tell him that.) But he must have heard something about it because when he stayed at my parents for the night in the morning he saw my Dad taking his tablets and ask him if they helped him behave

BEKsmum · 01/05/2005 10:26

Xena lol, that's really cheered me up. Yesterday was a nirghtmare and I am thinking about cutting out more foods, I avoid sweets like smarties and tootie fruities but I think I do need to cut out some other things too. I think I also need to look at his sleep patterns too.

We're having a punishment day today as ds hit dh round the head really hard whilst having a tantrum about leaving my brothers last night so he's lost swimming and going to the park with his friends. Although I think this will be more a punishment for me & dh than ds as it means I'll have to do the housework & ironing and dh has to sort out the garden, whereas if we'd have been out we could have ignored all these jobs!

HK did try getting him to run up and down my brothers 120ft garden lots of times yesterday but he was still a little sod!

Have a good day all, I'm off to the ironing mountain - boo!

HellKat · 01/05/2005 10:37

Lol Xena. Too funny.
What about swimming Beks? That wears out ds1 and me!

BEKsmum · 01/05/2005 22:15

Ahh, nice suggestion HK which would normally work but ds lost the option to go swimming with daddy today as daddy was still not impressed with him for smacking him round the head last night.

Had a sligtly better day with him today and he even managed to get poo in the toilet for the first time this week, so fingers crossed for another good day tomorrow. We're taking him to the park to practice riding his bike on Monday as long as all goes well!

Gotta go as dh is waiting to get back to his game, is it me or is it quiet on here today?

HellKat · 02/05/2005 11:12

Glad he's chilled out.
Yep it was quiet last night and during the day. Maybe everyone's enjoying the sun?

Diddle · 02/05/2005 16:34

is there anybody there!!!!

i hope you're all out enjoying the sun, its lovely here in the midlands although we have had some showers and we are forecast rain all of next week. bloody weather.
