ARGH!!!!!!!

DS1 is driving me mad today. He is really really wingey(sp) He wants juice, I get juice and he cries and throws the juice on the floor. He wants a bottle of milk, I get him one and that ends up on the floor too.

STT, try to think positive if possible. I'm sure the scan will come round quickly. If you have 7290 euros you can buy a sheep ultrasound scanner. My friend is on about getting one as she has had 3 mmc. She is 5 weeks and is really worried.

Cosmogirl · 11/03/2009 12:35

Does anyone know if it is a full moon tonight? Don't lots of women go into labour when it is a full moon lol

kayzr · 11/03/2009 12:36

It is yes Cosmo, DS2 was born on a full moon.

Starshinetiger · 11/03/2009 12:40

Afternoon All.
Cosmo/GYo - v. envious of your morning naps, but now that DS is at childminder, think I will have a little one after lunch - thanks for reminding me to take gaviscon after lunch though
LB - sorry for tough night, but glad it doesn't sound like reflux. I found of an eveing with DS that wondering around with him in sling and me watching trashy telly with sound off, but subtitles on, worked when he was crying - well it worked for me getting to do something and he liked the motion! Think you're amazing to be doing the ironing though.
Astarte - had a cleaner when I first went back to work after DS, but after several months, quality seemed to deteriorate and then I used the dust from extension as an excuse to not have her any more (how come it's so much easier to have tough, professional conversations at work, but not at home?!). If I go back to work this time, will definitely get a cleaner, but more likely to go through a company than local - just not so comfortable with them living on my doorstip IYKWIM. Going rate round here (south) seems about £10/hr, but I might have been stung!
STT - I can't imagine how tough this must be for you. But my thoughts are with you and shall be wishing the time away to your scan. It is true that you are approaching the time when symptoms start to reduce and I do remember loathing the sickness this time round, but when I had a good day, worrying endlessly - par for the course, I'm afraid.
OS - love your note to your Mum and glad your Gran is doing better.
Gruff - yay for last day before mat leave!
Kayz - fab news about your corset.
Glask - delighted Ruby is home.
Having a few wobbles here - birth pool arrived on Mon, but having inflated it twice, it won't stay inflated. They've sent a replacement out, but want me to wait in all day for it again - well tomorrow is DH's day off and DS at childminder, so we're planning trip to cinema at lunchtime (first cinema trip since before DS was born 2.5 years ago) - it never happens that we are both home alone without DS. Am not cancelling, so if it arrives from lunchtime onwards, am hoping if I leave a note on the door, they'll leave it with a neighbour. MW said yesterday that Babe is still nice and high - not engaged at all, so fingers crossed, I'll have a working pool before baby puts in an appearance!
GYo - hope your Mum's visit goes okay. Know what you mean - my mum made a few sceptical comments to start with - she thinks it will be fine now, hope yours is the same. I am having the odd wobble about whether home birth is the right thing, so if anyone feels like reassuring me how well yours went, would be very much appreciated!
Another very long post from me

kayzr · 11/03/2009 13:04

DS1:"Dinner please"
Me:"Would you like a sandwich?"
DS1:"Sandwich please"
Me:"Cheese or ham?"
DS1:"Cheese please"

So make I make a cheese sandwich and that isn't good enough and is now crying for ham!!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 13:11

Kay - can we put your DS1 and my Mum in a room together then??! She's just been on the phone and I just don't get why she gets my back up so much but she does!!

kayzr · 11/03/2009 13:11

Yeah that would be great!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/03/2009 13:15

Well hello there strangers!! I haven't been on in so long it's just taken me nearly an hour to read through!!

Kooky- congrats on the test results, and on the sex, i'm glad you're getting what you wanted!! Boys are lovely!!

Playing and Happy- congrats on the arrivals!!

Everyone else- thanks for all the well wishes on Ruby coming home, she's just perfect!! She lost 20 grams when she was weighed on sunday morning, but then by monday she'd put the weight back on so was allowed home!! It's amazing getting up for a crying baby in the night instead of the alarm and breast pump like i was till monday!! She's so good you'd never think we had a newborn in the house!!

Today i took DS back to nursery for the first day since Ruby came home, Had to pop to the shop too and she got mistaken for a doll by 3 different people on the trip!! I have to say she is the same size as DD1's 'my first baby annabelle' doll!!

Ruby currently weighs 4lb 6oz, (as of yesterday anyway)... I have a few more pics to add to my facebook when i can get my camera to my dads, and will add some pics to my profile soon, and change my name... my bun has cooked now!!

Cosmogirl · 11/03/2009 13:28

Hi Glask, great to hear Ruby is home and doing so well. Can't wait to see some pics of her.

Kayz - so it is a full moon. How exciting... Think it is time for another wagon baby to arrive then!

My friend is popping over later this afternoon - she is a midwife, so I am going to be asking her to have a feel and see what she thinks. I think baby might have flipped position a bit - feels different somehow.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 13:29

Glaskham - sooo good to have you back and great for you to have Ruby home. It must have been a very difficult few weeks but you have managed really well. Look forward to seeing those piccies

tinkislittlemissshopping · 11/03/2009 14:02

hi

i got mj tickets very happy here
he is my idol

kay - kids can be so annoying sometimes!!
glas great to hear from you sounds like ruby is doing great

glaskham · 11/03/2009 14:09

Have uploaded some pics of Ruby... they are all from when she was in the hospital as any since then are still on the camera, and we haven't yet set up the laptop to get pics on it... though DH should be able to set up the bluetooth soon so i can send any off my camera onto here.

Also just found out that my friend who i was going to be a surrogate for died on saturday, she got really ill or something and passed away. We weren't really on talking terms since everything that happened but i feel really numb... I was so close to her for so long... I dont know what to do, I dont really have any contact details other than their address and email... I dont know if her DH will welcome a card from me or not... i suppose they sent an xmas present for DD as she was her godmother.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 14:13

tink - that's great that you got the tickets

Glask - that is so sad about your friend. I remember that things went pear shaped between youo but I'm sure her DH would appreciate a card. Maybe just a short sentence inside to say that you were really sad to hear the news and you're thinking of him? It must be a real shock for you

kayzr · 11/03/2009 14:16

Glask, I am so sorry about your friend. I think her DH would probably love a card from you.

Our lovely neighbour has just given DS1 a bike and a go cart!! He is so happy and is now pushing the bike round the garden!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 14:21

That'll hopefully keep him occupied for a bit Kay

glaskham · 11/03/2009 14:21

Think i will send a card, i want to let him know i'm thinking of him, and pay my respects to her aswell. I'm sure she'd have done the same thing if it were me.

Right Ruby is stirring for a feed and the other 2 are having naps so hopefully after Ruby has fed she'll sleep so i can grab a nap too!!

Cosmogirl · 11/03/2009 14:47

Glask - Ruby looks adorable! So tiny but perfectly formed and lots of hair for that age! I'm sure my baby will be bald.

Sorry to hear about your friend passing away - that is so sad.

tinkislittlemissshopping · 11/03/2009 15:00

oh so sorry glas about your friend

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/03/2009 15:24

Hi everyone
Welcome back Glask glad you are home with Ruby at last but sorry to hear of your friend. A card sounds like a nice idea.

Cosmo- thats interesting about days since fist movement and date of birth... must be a bit random though but am still keen to work my date out now!

Hope your MW friend can help. I'd be interested to know if the baby can move much at this stage ie is there space... mine looks really funny shape since last night and Im concern head has come out of pelvis completely but I cant be sure... Hope my MW on Friday can have a good feel and tell me.

Hi Star, good to hear from you. Thats really annoying that your pool had a hole in it, hope the new one is set up soon. Hopefully you have some time though to get it sorted if the head isnt engaged. Hope you managed a nice nap this afternoon

Ses- sorry to hear your mother is annoying you... mine usually winds me up but today's visit went ok. She was clearly trying to say the right thing about the homebirth which was good as I expected a difficult visit. She even borught me some daffodils which was really kind.

Hi Tink- how are you feeling after the implant implantation?

Kayz- how frustrating trying to please DS1 with drinks food. Glad he has a distraction now, what a fab neighbour!!

My mothst

I have SO HAD IT with my GP! After my booking in appointment, I was told that one of my tests came back inconclusive and that I'd have to have blood drawn again. They told me they thought it was rubella. I went back to where I had my booking in and they told me that I should wait until I see the mw at my GP, which was around 17 weeks. Well, saw her and explained, she called to find out which test result they were missing and it turns out that it's syphillis! I'm pretty certain I don't have syphillis, but went for the repeat blood test a couple of days later. Also at the same appointment I was told I had a possible bladder infection and would need to give a repeat urine sample too. That was three weeks ago tomorrow - I've called my GP no less than 6 times and they STILL don't have my results back! Of all the times I called, only one person has offered to follow up for me - and apparently, in the end, she didn't! I've tried to explain to them that I'm nearly 21 weeks pregnant and should there be anything wrong, I need to know and I just get radio silence on the other end of the phone. I really don't know how to get through to these people!

Sorry, rant over!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 18:22

LBOT - that's awful!! I've had similar problems getting blood test result but never has it gone on that long and normally they just say that if there was anything really wrong, then someone would have contacted me but they can't tell from their screen.
Anyway, that was definitely deserving of a rant. If it continues, I'd ask to speak to the Practice Manager and if that doesn't work, I'd contact someone at the Primary Care Trust (although obviously it hopefully won't go on that long...)

I've decided I'm going to try and talk to DH tonight about our NCT classes. They start next Wed and he's still being cagey about attending all of them. He says that he's going to need to work some nights over the next couple of months (which I know is true) and he'll try and work round the Wednesdays but can't guarantee it. I really need him to know what's going to happen so that I don't feel I have to explain / justify things and I want to try and tell him that again tonight. I think the birth is the only bit he's worried about and maybe that he'll be a bit helpless and won't know what to say. It's getting to the stage though where I'm thinking that if he misses more than a couple, I may ask my cousin (also a good friend) to be my birth partner and attend some NCT classes with me instead just so that I know I'll have someone that will know what's going on and will be supportive. I don't want to shut him out and don't know whether he's still be able to be at the birth as well - it would be awful for her to meet the baby before him. As you can tell I'm going round in circles a bit but does anyone have any thoughts / advice? Am I making too big a deal of it?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/03/2009 18:38

Hello

Ses- Sorry to hear your DH is still a undecided about the classes. You arent making a bit deal of it at all. I'd have been gutted if DH hadnt wanted to come to ours. We were both anxious about them and meeting other people ie. making it real but they really were so much better than expected (as everyone said to me).

Im wondering if your DH is still a bit in denial about the whole thing... possibly thinking its something way in the future that he doesnt need to worry about yet? Or maybe is just terrified of the whole thing? (dont blame him!) Has he said he wants to be at the birth?

Im sure he could still be your birthing partner if he doesnt go to the classes but he may find the info helpful. Has he read any information instead? Could you have two birthing partners and invite your cousin to the classes would he consider that?

Alternatively could you try and find out what you are covering in which classses and see if he can attend the labour support ones? we learnt about support positions, breathing etc which was good for DH to see(he could possibly skip the breast feeding ones for example)

Sorry- am writing an essay here and Im not sure its helpful but if I was in your situation I'd explain why its important for you to have him there so he knows how to help you during the birth.

Let us know how it goes.

Sorry LBOT didnt mean to ignore you there.

Thats awful treatment from the doctors. I second Ses' advice there.

Good luck!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 11/03/2009 18:50

Thanks GYo..

The only thing he's really said is that he remembers seeing the classes that Ross attended with his lesbian wife and her partner on Friends where they practiced breathing and positions, etc. I've tried to explain that that is just a tv show (!!!) but as neither he nor I have any direct experience I can't reassure him very much. His best mate and his wife didn't do NCT classes, just a full day NHS one.

I'll let you know what he says...

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/03/2009 18:59

good luck

Im trying to work out whether to be alarmed that DH, who said his phone was now clamped to his fist in case I ring with labour news, has not replied to my text 30mins ago and I know he is in pub not a meeting. He is 1.5hrs away at least.

Whats the point of that!? I could be in labour!
