Diege - we're not with British Gas but have phoned them anyway and agreed to pay a £99 call out and then £20 per month going forwards to cover us completely for everything to do with boiler, central heating and hot water. Seeing as the house and heating aren't exactly brand new, we guess it'll be worth the £20 each month.

Thank goodness we had a delivery of logs earlier in the week as the fire in the lounge has been going since about 9am!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 28/02/2009 11:22

Am doing lots of on line shopping today - curtains for lounge and bedroom, nursery curtains and bedding, cotbed and mattress.

I've found this mattress on the Boots website which fits the cotbed we like but is so much cheaper than a lot of others. Is there any particular reason why we should go for a more expensive one?

hello

Diege- the actual sucking bit of the hoover has little brushes and will do the edges reasonably well. It also has a noozle bit that has various attachements to get in the cracks etc. I'd definately get another dyson if I was replacing it.

Thanks for offer of "venting" here about the row. Im sure it will blow over- these things seem like the end of the world when they happen but i know its not. We are both just getting on with things now around the house but not speaking.

Ses- matress is definately right size for a cot bed and would do the the job... There are huge range of types available when I looked into it. I'd be tempted to way up pros and cons of investing in a better quality sprung one since the cot bed is designed to last for a number of years it would be a pain to keep replacing the matress. I've got a decent one coil sprung one and then a protector so it doesnt get ruined...
Hope your online shoppping goes well..

I've got killer heartburn caused by being out last night for dinner (only ate half of my meal!). I was up most of the night because of it.... We are due to be going to a friends to eat tonight.... really want to see them but there is no way I can eat a big meal unless this gets better. I've had gaviscon, zantac... and lots of water. Any other tips?

Sorry- me me me posts today.

OP posts:
kayzr · 28/02/2009 11:46

Milk GYo really helped me with heartburn.

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 28/02/2009 12:10

GYo - Milk, peppermints or peppermint tea worth a go. Hope it calms down...

ohsnap · 28/02/2009 13:52

Just popping in to say AF came this morning
Will catch up later, DD1 is poorly and is calling.......

Starshinetiger · 28/02/2009 15:01

Just a quick dash on before I go and have a lie down while DS is.
Kayz - yay for DS' sleeping!
Ohsnap - sorry for AF , you have a lot on at the mo with your Gran and your DD1 now being poorly too.
GYo - sorry for row, but as Diege said, is so easy to happen over little things. Hope heartburn eases so you can go out tonight.
Diege - we're also looking at a new vacuum cleaner - about to lose it with current one, which was a hand-me-down from my Mum anyway, so it's had a good life! We're looking at Dyson DC24 which is the smaller of the two standard roller ball ones. If you're house isn't massive, will probably do. Have tried it out in the shop and like it and are going to buy on ebay - noticed there is a seller in Cheshire, which might be good for you at this link. You can find cheaper on ebay too.
Right - off for my tea and cake lie down

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/02/2009 15:10

hi Star, OS

SOrry AF has shown up OS..... and your DD is poorly. How is your granny doing? Did you visit yesterday?

Thanks for the heartburn suggestions and everyone being nice about my row really crap at being part of a row... Here things slightly better but undercurrent still there...

Im trying weak hotchocolate which has helped before with the heartburn. Thanks Ses, I've also had some peppermint oil caps which I had for gastric pains before.

Enjoy your cake\lie down Star

OP posts:
Diege · 28/02/2009 15:53

Thank you so much STAR! Think we'll get that one.
OS, Sorry about af - all you need with everything else going on

Excellent about the suction brush thingies GYO for the stairs!
Oh update on kitchen. The cooker hood thing is damaged so they are ordering a replacement . At least we have a sink now though, and can also tentatively start filling the cupboards that are up!
I have heartburn too - have had all day (maybe it's a row thing ). Am too lazy to get my gaviscon from work bag, so am just burping it out...agree, milk does help, and also fizzy water. Think you have to be careful about too much milk - think it was Nat who said it can sometimes be counterproductive?
Have finished lecture thank goodness - welfare and 'risk', more intersting than it sounds, tarted it up with stuff about smokers being denied ops etc. Have now been paid for writing the module, so strangely lacking motivation to finish the last 5 weeks...
Hoping to watch Saw 5 tonight if row blows over, though dh not keen at all. We have watched the previous 4 though, so can't stop now. Anyone seen it??

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/02/2009 17:40

Hurray for having a sink. Hope you can post some pics of the finished kitchen

I think row/ stress definately makes HBurn worse! HChoc did help but also had peppermint oils caps which helped move some trapped gas down my system which helps too.

I know what you mean about too much being counterproductive. I can do hot choc but not (decaff) latte, or cereal with milk or icecream. All very odd nothing logical makes iot worse or better. Like real coke is fine but diet is painful its the once aspect of pregnancy i wont be sad to see the back of !

I want a new dyson now...

OP posts:
tinkislittlemissshopping · 28/02/2009 18:20

we have a dyson it is great!! it is a cyclinder animal one purple and grey is fantastic

www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dyson&x=10&y=18

they are cheap on here we got ours on amazon ages ago alot cheaper

i went to shops bymyself. bought in asda some pjs for bracken in 3-6 months [shocks] she is outgrowing her 0-3 month sleepsuits length wise already she is 60 cm born @ 55cms.
also bought myself a gillet in dark brown to wear instead of maternity coat with hoodie and 2 tops others seem to be too short.
went into town bought 2 more tops in newlook and sleepsuits for bracken in peacocks.
also bought a wispa trying to stay off of the choclate only eating penguins in the week now.

tinkislittlemissshopping · 28/02/2009 18:20

sorry oh for af that mean with

ohsnap · 28/02/2009 20:28

Sorry for your rows Diege and GYo, they always seem to happen at the weekend here, and I think you can definitely blame the hormones, I turned evil when pg with DD1. There were two major incidents, one involved me beating DH with my slippers because of some cheese on toast, the other one ended in me throwing cutlery at him

We have a Dyson and I love it. We've got the HEPA upright one. I had problems with it after about 14 months and they kept sending me free parts to try to fix it. When nothing helped they sent an engineer out who replaced the motor, all for nothing! I got nearly a whole machine free

Granny is much better today, not on O2 anymore and no big pains today. She's been told that if she can go 2 whole days with no pain then she can home as that means it's probably fixed itself. Then if it happens again and the pains come back, then if she doesn't want to go to hosp she can stay at home and have pain relief from the GP until the end

AF seems to have disappeared again although it was more AF-like than t'other day, that was sudden and bright red, this was more just a smidge of brown to start with IYSWIM (sorry TMI, but hey, this is the wagon!)

DH has just gone out for pizza so I must get on and tidy up, see you all later.

Astarte · 28/02/2009 21:26

I'm still hopeful for you OS.
8 days is perfect timing for implantation and some women have a fall back temp to even below coverline.

Do take your temp tomorrow just in case, if it rises back up to over coverline then you'll still be on last months cycle.

Sorry for rows, never nice is it? I was evil with pg no.2 .

Baby has a snuffly cold and didn't sleep well or feed well last night, in fact she projectile vomited one entire feed at 5am, which was rather shocking.
Been okay today though

kayzr · 01/03/2009 07:56

Morning,

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you OhSnap. Hopefully it is implantation.

Sorry for projectile vomiting Astarte, it's not nice is it?

We had an okish night here. DS2 woke up at half 3 which was a shock as he normally runs like clockwork and wakes at 5. Then DS1 woke up but we got him to go back to sleep in his bed!!! It was great.

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 01/03/2009 08:14

Morning!

Kay - glad you had another ok night.

OhSnap - fingers still crossed... Hope your granny continues to improve.

Playing - doubt you're on or lurking but hope all goes well today and look forward to hearing about Fraggle's arrival.

We have heating and hot water again
Have been told that our boiler is old and corroded though and we should get a new one, which will be about £2k !!

Astarte · 01/03/2009 08:54

I was just thinking about when the next Wagon baby is due, but its today of course!

Ses that seems a lot for a boiler, would a local plumber be cheaper?

OhSnap, anything to note this morning?

Baby slept from 11pm-3am, fed, then slept until 8am , I feel human

Dh has bought me a gift for completing our family. I bought him a much coveted watch when we had Dd1, so he has returned the favour and bought me a pair of shoes I was drooling over.
Shall I show you a pic? ...I think he's hoping to get 'lucky'

Cosmogirl · 01/03/2009 09:04

Morning ladies,

Pinch, punch, first day of the month! My due month has finally arrived - 30 days and counting!!

GYo - hope meal went ok last night was no h/b and you managed to clear the air with DH. Had semi-argument with mine yesterday as we were clearing out our spare room over how much 'stuff' he has. Was a petty row too - my hormones are definitely the main culprit with blowing things out of all proportion.

OS - glad to hear your Nan is doing better and hope AF makes its mind up so you know where you're at!

All this talk of good hoovers is making me Mine is crap! It is a sore point in our house.

Playing - thinking of you too today and hope the induction goes ok. Have a friend who was due on 16th Feb and baby still not arrived so she is also being induced tomo if he has not made an appearance. Think she is upset because was hoping for an active home birth...Gosh, I reallly don't want to go overdue.

Does anyone who's delivered at 37/38/39 weeks have any insight into why/ or any experiences of things that happened that gave them a clue they'd be early? I did feel the baby move at 16 weeks, which is early for first I suppose....She is so active now though, which I'm not sure if that is good or bad because theoretically she should be running out of room.

Sleep is getting worse here and keep waking up with dead hands and legs feel all restless too. Think the extra weight and fluid is not agreeing too well with my 5.2 frame.

1st day of mat leave tomo - whoopie!!

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 01/03/2009 09:22

Oh my gosh! Just tried to skim and catch up but no danger...

However...congrats to Glaskham, LB and Astarte on the arrivals . I did read the labour posts with relish!! It seems we are a bit of a thread for quick birthers too...

LB - I don't think I got you on fb. Can you find me? I've had similar problems with DS although it started a bit later. I started putting him on the breast, taking him off as the 'rush' came (with a soother) and putting him back on. Reduced the screaming and a bit of the wind. He also takes everything out of his milk and leaves little or no poo Oh, and I found the hormonal/emotional rollercoaster FAR worse this time round!

Kooky - just wanted to say that SIL has just been given the all-clear having been through exactly this. She went for the CVS as they wanted to know for sure and were in agreement about what would happen dependent on outcome. I couldn't believe when they were told it was ok - such a lot o stress to go through! THinking of you.

DS is 12weeks tomorrow and has been averaging 10-11 oz per week on the boobies . He's done a couple of 7.30pm - 3.30am sleeps, so I'm optomistic...

Hope you all well!

Astarte · 01/03/2009 10:09

Hello Teuch! Good to hear from you

Fancy doing your birth story? I'd love to hear how it went.

Tink thanks for the links. My mum has just bought me the Tiny Love one.

My shoes are here

tinkislittlemissshopping · 01/03/2009 11:02

hi

sounds good oh

Diege · 01/03/2009 11:16

Morning! Have bitten the bullet and ordered the damn dyson . Got it off Amazon in the end (thanks TINKS ) as a little cheaper than e-bay (plus free delivery). Went for the lightest one, as while not the most powerful, I know that a heavier one won't get so much use, esp on the stairs . Also bought a crevice suction thing, and all came to under £200, with free delivery. This is the start of the new houseproud deige!! .
Dh has gone to IKEA to get one of those kitchen block thingies on wheels. My mission now is to hunt for some new floaty type drapes for french windows...it's amazing how when you buy one thing you feel you need to get another...
Great to hear from you TEUCH! Agree, birth story would be lovely.
PLAYING, eek, is today induction day??? You must be v.excited about meeting fraggle! Will be looking out for birth announcement xxx
COSMO, all my 3 have been at 39 weeks, and the only 'sign' I had was increased Barxton Hicks and a 'vaseliney' type discharge 2 days before labour started. Thinking back, with dd1 I don't think I actually had any warning. Had some swelling, upper abdominal pain, and bp up, so was admitted to hosp and went into labour that night. Don't think it was PE as they though thought - just that labour was imminent! V. exciting to be in birth month
ASARTE, I am drooling over those shoes - the cut out detail is so sweet! Like the idea of a 'finishing the family' present
SES, glad you got the heating sorted but at the price of a new boiler . Can you have it 'rennovated' instead?
Morning to everyone I've not mentioned - am sure I've missed loads out!

tinkislittlemissshopping · 01/03/2009 15:09

tink grins like a cheshire cat and feels proud
wow teuch u r doing very well with the milk

Astarte · 01/03/2009 15:32

Cosmo "swelling up and raised BP" that could be a sign actually now Diege has mentioned it. I had that a few of days before Dd2 arrived. Maybe there's something in it?

I've had a dyson and when it died I thought I'd get another, but delivery was 2-3 weeks so I pootled to Argos and bought a little cheap one (cylinder) for about £35. I planned to keep it upstairs for the stair and one one bedroom carpet.
It's bloody fabulous and I would never get anything else. It was £300 cheaper than a dyson and is honestly no different in suction/cleaning.

I'm off for a bath. I'm on my own tomorrow as Dh is going back to work, wish me luck.....I think I may need it
