Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

ah - we have good taste in names slick! Just need to convince dh now!

Bought hospital bag stuff today - nappies, some sleepsuits and winged (hooray) maternity pads! Still got to sort out dd's cupboard where the other newborn stuff is lurking - but that is for when I have a day on my own in the house. If I try to do it when dd is there she will try to "help" and create more mess

I think I am now officially in the stretchy black horrid trousers stage - I do still wear my mat jeans but they get so uncomfy after a while!

Can't believe I'm going to have a wee baby in 6 weeks!

MKG · 08/02/2009 14:14

Holy Crap! Just realized I'm 36 weeks today! Officially 9 months (gulp)! My mom has taken the boys to church with her, so the house is quite for a while before I go to work. I love it. It's fairly warm out today and feels like early spring, just a little overcast. Just need to take a shower, make the beds, and clean up before I leave and it will be a good morning.

laumiere DP likes Arianwen! Thanks for teh suggestion, think it is up there as a middle name... now I need to find a Maouri name so she can have one welsh and one kiwi middle name and a bit of both of us in there!

meep · 08/02/2009 14:30

what about Marama? Or Aroha?

laweaselmys · 08/02/2009 14:54

Hmm, not sure. I want something english people will have a decent chance of pronouncing right!

What do you think of Arona?

Molly Arianwen Arona S... sounds quite nice.

laweaselmys · 08/02/2009 14:55

Actually now I like Aroha.

Decisions!!

laumiere · 08/02/2009 15:11

law Glad to be of help! Must admit I'm liking Gethin more and more, but DH is refusing to commit until we've met the little man! I would feel a bit odd giving it to a blond-haired lad (DS1 was dark from the day he was born). Funnily enough we were always totally sure of DS1's name!

I think Marama or Marika are pretty Maori names. You could go with something shorter like Reka.

meep · 08/02/2009 15:12

I know what you mean about the pronounciation - whenever we got to NZ dh gets me to read out the Mauori place names as we drive fast and I always get them wrong (mind you he is the same in Scotland!)

Missmodular · 08/02/2009 15:25

Bumblbee - I have VBAC aspirations. Had an emsec last time due to pre eclampsia and fetal distress. I haven't had any problems with it so far - in fact they're going to leave it until 40+10 before induction (if nothing happens before). But as I found last time when I wanted a water birth, things never quite pan out the way you plan them... if I'm out of hospital in one piece with a healthy baby that'll do for me - what's your situation?

Well we've just exchanged on a house and are due to move 12 days before my due date . DP has forbidden me to do any packing on the day so I'm being packed off to my mum's with dd and we're paying a removal firm to do everything! I just have to try not to go into labour that day

lizziemun · 08/02/2009 16:04

MKG

please don't say about the weather being 'quite warm'.

I feel like being imprisioned in my own home as i've been banned from walking anywhere because of the bloody snow. We still have about 6inches laying and they are forecasting more tonight and tomorrow. I DON'T WANT IT, MAKE IT GO AWAY.

Wolfblass · 08/02/2009 16:11

Hiya Ladies,

Just wondering if i may join in please

I'm Becs and we are due to have our second baby (a blue bump ) on 15th March. We already have a DD who turned 5 a month ago and as time is getting ever nearer we are all becoming excited and impatient.

I started Maternity Leave a week ago and we are moving house next Friday (oh i know we are bloody mad - but we are moving to a gorgeous new home, with a large garden, loads of indoor space and dd is starting a lovely new school)

As for the ahem increase in discharge - i've noticed this too , but my SPD symptoms have dissapeared since leaving work and incredibly i am able to keep my eyes open for longer than usual at night.

Anyway enough of my gabbling..

B xx

Hi All

Welcome Wolfblass and BumblBeee - Bumbl, I am another aspiring VBAC-er. I had a c-sec following a failed induction at 37 weeks due to dd having IUGR and having stopped growing and me probably having pre-eclampsia. Hospital seem ok with the idea although depending on who I see, it depends what they say about what sort of monitoring/ precautions are needed - epipdural, cannula etc etc. I intend to say no to epidural (unless I require one for pain, not 'just in case') and cannula. I also am going to resist continuous fetal montoring. I see the consultant (or more likely registrar) on friday at 36 weeks and I am going to ask about going in midwife led unit but I am not holding out much hope. They are generally saying I will only be able to go to 41 weeks but I will cross that bridge when I come to it - they have said they won't induce me which is fine as I had an awful induction last time and would rather go straight to c-sec if I don't go into labour naturally.

Flannelcat - good to hear things are going well with you and Bettie. Fingers crossed she makes it home this week.

Not much to report here - went away this weekend to MIL to go out with DH's friends from home. Last time we'll go away now before d-day. Yikes !!

Missmodular · 08/02/2009 17:31

Wheely your first birth sounds similar to mine - I had probable pre eclampsia. So can you say no to continual fetal monitoring? I am dreading being hooked up to a BP monitor, fetal monitor, drip and catheter like I was last time - I just felt like ripping it all out and telling them to leave me alone! Also, what's cannula?

Wheelybug · 08/02/2009 17:47

Missmodular - at the end of the day you can say no to anything. They can't force you to do anything. However, we found this very difficult last time round as we were worried about what was going on/dd and went along with everything but I too found the CFM very restrictive.

The doctors I've spoken to about it agree that it shouldn't be necessary. If you have an epidural then it is necessary as you wouldn't be able to feel any problems relating to scar rupture (that said, the risk of scar rupture is something like 0.3% !).

A cannula is what they put in your arm which is used to 'feed' stuff into your veins - I was told at my last appointment that it is common practice to insert one into VBAC-ers in case they end up having a c-sec. it only takes a couple of minutes max to do so can't really see why they can't wait until a decision has been made to do a c-sec. I find it all very negative to be honest even though the chances of having a VBAC are higher than having a repeat c-sec.

(oh blimey, I have been well and truly brainwashed by my active birth teacher ).

My plan is to write a birth plan saying 'this is what i want' however, I will listen to medical advice as, at the end of the day, the safe arrival of the baby is the most important thing.

Noodle07 · 08/02/2009 18:25

Hi all

Can I join too please?

I've been reading/lurking since I first found out I was pregnant and think it's about time i joined in!

I'm due with our second baby, a boy, on 23 March, we have a son already who is 20 months old.

Thanks

lollipopz · 08/02/2009 19:14

Hi hope every one is well. Good to hear from you flannelcat hope the wee one goes from strength to strength. Well its my birthday and the snow has finally arrived in Glasgow had a fab day with the kids and now curled up with hot chocolate and jammies watching my car getting whiter and wondering if school will be on tomorrow! hope everyone is keeping well x x

Boobz · 08/02/2009 19:26

Sounds lovely Lolli - I quite fancy a hot chocolate now you've said that.

DH is working on a Sunday - boo - so am watching sky plus and generally avoiding thinking about work tomorrow (but only one week left!)

Welcome Noodle. Lots of lurkers coming out as we get closer! Anyone else out there??

EllieorOllie · 08/02/2009 19:44

Hello all

Just been catching up on all the posts after a weekend of overseeing DH's d.i.y., and braving the ASDA baby sale. Some git had nicked all the newborn catridges out of every nappy wrapper bin thing in the Farnborough ASDA, but we bought one anyway, £17 discount was too good to ignore.

Flannelcat - it's lovely to hear your continued good news. Hope you and Bettie continue to go from strength to strength.

Is anyone else have riproaring pains down below? I was in Tesco this afternoon, and I honestly thought it was D-Day (or rather B-Day I suppose). This is probably TMI, but it started as tremendous pressure at the top of my back passage, and then turned into searing pain where I imagine my cervix must be. I had to hold onto a frozen food cabinet for a good 2 minutes!! And i'm only supposed to be 34 weeks (although I do have my doubts about the accuracy of that, despite the scans...)

Nice to know that lots of people are liking Nathaniel as a name. I loved it to start with, but then started to worry that it was too pretentious. What do you reckon it could shorten to? I think Nate, but I guess most people would use Nat.

Hope everyone has a good week, and that the snow doesn't make itself too problematic. 4 days to go till maternity leave. WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

MKG · 08/02/2009 20:06

How come lurkers come out when we start talking about discharge?

OP posts:
emma2617 · 08/02/2009 21:16

Good evening ladies...my lack of access has hindered my ability to even lurk how I have missed you all!!

flannelcat glad all is going well, hope you finally het little Bettie home ASAP!

ellieorollie I have been getting terrible pains too, quite literally in the bum and under carriage area, stabbing pains! Midwife said it was baby rocking his head and it aggrivating pelvic floor, but Im not sure how much I believe her! I also have under bump pains on one side, worse on raching/sretching and sometimes they shoot up the sides, but I ave been tod this is due to a pulled muscle by one midwife and that it is a ligament/nerve thing by another!

I am getting seriously fed up now and not really coping too well, I actually gave in and had a cigarette yesterday but then felt so guilty I could have been sick! I have immense back pain that makes me physically yelp in pain when I try to move, bum pain, under bump pain, and have come down with a horrible cold...feeling very sorry for myself and being 37 weeks on saturday I really just want this baby out NOW...any which way!

Sorry to go AWOL and then come back with such a sef indulgent rant!! Hope you have all had a good weekend!

Slickbird · 08/02/2009 21:33

Flannelcat Such fantastic news! Sorry, I missed your post earlier. I'm so glad Flannelkitten is doing well and you should be soooooo proud of yourself for what you are doing with the breastfeeding. I hope you get her home soon and enjoy being a mum.

There are so many new postings I can't keep up!

Wolfblass - I thought you were already in the March club? Maybe we crossed paths on a different thread then? Welcome all new newbies!

My 'undercarriage' is more than tender, it is in howling, screaming pain now and I am thoroughly unimpressed with it.

Good to hear from you Emma we were all wondering where you were! Sorry to hear you gave in and had a ciggie, hope you find the strength to keep off them. Not long now.

Slickbird · 08/02/2009 21:37

God and if I have any more braxton hicks.....

Slickbird · 08/02/2009 21:45

Unless, of course,I'm in labour...

CaptainKarvol · 08/02/2009 22:02

Hi all, and welcome all the new folks.

I'm so of all of you who are already on Mat leave. I have 1 week left, plus 1 extra day (grrr) because I had to use a day's holiday to look after DS a couple of weeks ago, so owe it back.

Is anyone else getting dizzy spells at all?

I don't think it is anything to worry about, but I do feel a bit faint quite often. And I seem to need soooo much sleep right now.

Hopefully I'm seeing a MW about my homebirth on Thursday, and with any luck a mumsnetter (cheers Disenchanted!) should be posting a birthpool to me very soon.

I've even washed some newborn baby clothes...
