Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

Hey Captain - Sounds to me like you need iron tablets and you've maybe got low blood pressure too. Does sound like anaemia tho. Any idea what your iron count was last time you had your bloods checked? (It should say on your notes) Esp as time goes on, your blood is essentially spread that much thinner as it were, despite the increase in volume. I'd give your MW a call - easy to get a prescription.

Hope this helps.

Hello, can I squeeze in here too please?

Due on 31st March with my first baby. So excited and worried.

Also planning to move before D-Day but this will put me in the area for a different hospital which is consultant based but been at antenatal classes for midwife led care, which sounds good to me. Is it a bad idea to be "caught short" outside the doors of my preferred hospital? or am I being too picky?

rubyring · 09/02/2009 05:58

hello again, sorry bit massively TMI but yesterday had some bleeding, obviously panicked and had to go to labour ward to get checked - turns out I have varicose veins in my lady bits agh!!! Anyone else had experience of this? advised to get support tights and "rest" (with 2 little DD's at home bit tricky!). Anything I can do? Feel bit sore and bruised, dreading giving birth now - am 34 wks today...feel like an old lady, just want to cry and sleep, instead am wide awake early a.m again! Hubby doing his best but what I really want is a live in housekeeper and nanny for a couple of months ha ha!! Definitely no more babies after this one. I am so excited to meet my liitle chap I just feel like this bloody pregnancy is never, never going to end!

Morning everyone, hello to the newbies and welcome back to Emma.

My downstairs region is not exactly sore but it is feeling very swollen at the front - not sure if that is normal or not - and is feeling a little itchy - hmmm may be I have an infection - will check it out with the midwife tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be varicose veins?

I am quite cheery today as I am off to the Trafford Centre with my sister. It will be nice to catch up with my sister and to actually get out of the house.

I think the fainting /dizzy thing is quite common in pregnant ladies and could effect you even if you don't have anemia. It is something to do with moving to fast as our thicker blood pools and takes it time moving back to our heads. However, I think mychance of moving aywhere fast is unlikely - probably more likely to need a forklift truck.

CaptainKarvol · 09/02/2009 08:39

Thanks slickbird - I'll get that checked out. I hadn't thought of it, but my BP has been pretty low all through pg - I'd just been thinking of it as a good thing after the pre-eclampsia experience of last time, but you're quite right, it can make you feel dizzy can't it?

Welcome megzyboo. I've no idea about how moving affects your hospital choice TBH - I'd have thought you can just go wherever (right to choose and all that), but someone who knows more might put me right on that. The only diff between mw and consultant based care at our local hospital is the location of the room you're in, BTW - they just do it to gather together the slightly higher risk births.

And rubyring that sounds horrid. I guess it's like having piles, but in a different place? ie it will go as soon as you give birth once the pressure is off. How about some horse chestnut extract or one of the other herbal remedies for varicose veins, rubbed in? Ouchy ouch ouch!

Slickbird · 09/02/2009 09:59

Captain - Yeah, the low blood pressure can do it, but as you say, better that way than high blood pressure! I've always had low blood pressure all through my prgys, in fact, I think I'm like that anyway, and it does give you the odd dizzy spell and tiredness. But then so does low iron - which I've also always had to watch - so it could be either.

Well more snow here today. DD1 was just about greetin' that school was open!

Rubyring - Sorry to hear you are living up to your name! Sounds awful! I have heard of Varicose veins there but it didn't occur to me they could bleed. No wonder you feel like blubbing!

Who was it again who was suffering from horrendous piles quite early on in their pregnancy again? I can't remember, but hope they calmed down because I know you were having an awful time with them!!

twocutedarlings · 09/02/2009 10:20

Welcome newbies

slickbird have BHs stopped today? ive been having loads to, last night they were almost constant!! but not to painfull thankfully.

laumiere · 09/02/2009 10:23

Bleh, hi ladies!

No stabbing pains here, just unpredictable insides! In between the loose bowels and queasiness I am not a happy laumiere :-(

MW says nothing to worry about, just Danger (the bump) pressing on various bits of digestive system, but it's making eating a bloody trial!

Also, wanted to thank the MNers who kicked this thread off on behalf of me and DH, you've been an incredible source of support, laughs and reassurance

36 weeks tomorrow!

kanga5 · 09/02/2009 10:40

Hello,
I hope everyone is feeling ok. It sure is tough in the last few weeks! It sounds like we all want to give birth now please.

I am finding this pregnancy the toughest of all as I am so tired all the time. Awake early hours too: maybe we should hop onto mumsnet instead of trying to go back to sleep...Can't bend over without assuming some kind of strange posture which is risky as well , and horror: discovered varicose veins on my right leg. I find lying down with my feet up helps them go down but boy they do ache, so Rubyring I can imagine to have them down below must be awful. They are supposed to go after birth aren't they?

I changed hospitals due to moving house when I was 35 weeks for ds2...bit disappointed, but the safe arrival of my baby is all I want. Better than being stuck on the roadside because my original hospital was further away!

Having had such a good moan I still have to say let's enjoy our pregnancy as much as possible...this is definately my last one, funny that's what I said last time xxx

lizziemun · 09/02/2009 10:43

No stabbibg pains here either. Just tearfull and very depressed [sas].

kanga5 · 09/02/2009 10:50

oh Lizzie hang in there...is it the snow?

lizziemun · 09/02/2009 11:04

Kanga

Yes part of is the bloody snow.

I've been banned from going out as it too dangerous for me to walk about. Mind you i can't push dd2 (17mths) pram through 4/5 inches of snow.

I've only been out 3 times in the last week. Twice to take and pickup dd2 (5yrs) from school the oneday she was at school and once to the supermarket.

But i think some of it is because my dad died a month age . And that seems to have hit me this weekend.

I've shouted at both dd's and DH yesterday and spent last night in tears and unable to stop.

Mum's taken dd1 to school today and will bring home this afternoon. She lives around the corner from me and just by dd1 school.

Oh and dd2 has just head butted the corner of the downstairs toliet and now has a large bump on her head.

kanga5 · 09/02/2009 11:20

I am sorry to hear you are going through a rough time. Being pregnant just adds to it all. You have a few weeks to go don't you?

It doesn't hurt anyone to cry lots...and your children won't be harmed by an outburst. You should have heard me before Christmas...we had 4 weeks of house renovations, new kitchen, bathroom, exterior painting, new external patio doors (freezing while they went in), internal painting, all with my kitchen stuff in the living room, 4 kids to feed, and going out for dinner wasn't always the answer. Anyway I was so stressed that I ended up shouting I hate Christmas, much to their horror. It turned out ok on the day (I think).

I'm sure it was lack of rest while there were people in the house, and the cost and the time all on top of being hormonal. I even walked out one evening because I couldn't take it.

Just let it out xx

laumiere · 09/02/2009 12:21

Huge hugs to lizziesmum

I think it's perfectly reasonable to feel that way by the sounds of it. I was horribly miserable because of the snow last week, but with a bereavement on top, you poor thing.

Just give the family lots of cuddles when you feel better, they won't even remember the shouting in a few days.

lollipopz · 09/02/2009 12:52

Lizziesmum hope you feel better soon get loads of rest and maybe some chocolate! Bhs really uncomfy and loads of the last night and today also every time i get one i need to pee? Is this normal?? x

titchy77 · 09/02/2009 12:58

Hi all, have been liurking just haven't managed to post. Glad to see everyone is suffering the same sort of pregnancy problems!! rubyring I too have vulval varcise veins and was signed off work last week because of them, I really sympathise with you as they become really swollen and painful. My consultant says they should go after delivery and I am practically living in tights!!
Have another scan and seeing consultant on Thurs and she is going to book a date for induction for around 38 weeks , seems very unreal as only 34 weeks and haven't got a thing ready!!......
Enjoy your day ladies.

MKG · 09/02/2009 13:08

Good morning ladies!

My vagina was really sore yesterday, so I told him. I'm geting really fed up with it.

On a positive note I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and will have my strep B test done, so maybe I'll ask her if there is anything happening down there.

Beetle73 · 09/02/2009 13:35

I think I'm going to punch the next person in the office who makes some fatuous remark like 'ooh, I think I'll get pregnant so I can go on maternity leave too' or 'you must be looking forward to your lovely long break' or 'at least you'll be out of this place for a while'. Do they know how annoying they are????

And I'll also punch anyone who suggests I'm hormonal.

MKG · 09/02/2009 13:42

I just read my post and it doesn't really make sense. Where is my brain? I was telling dh last night and he said that I said the same thing before ds2 was born, and as if he was a fortune teller I asked when, how long before he was born did I say that. Dh was a little confused and said, a few weeks. I was like, "Uh there are only 4 more weeks left, can you narrow it down" to which he replied that he couldn't. then I looked away and told him he was useless.

OP posts:
MKG · 09/02/2009 13:45

Beetle--people say the same thing to me. They are always amazed that I'm still working and I'm like, yeah I want to be home with 2 crazy monkey-like toddlers and a newborn.

OP posts:
Beetle73 · 09/02/2009 13:53

Exactly - much harder work at home!

And yeah, I'm really delighted to be having to clear my desk and hand over bits of my job to other people. I actually quite like my job, and even though I'm not complaining about being allowed to spend 6 months at home with my gorgeous new baby, it is still possible to have mixed feelings about it.

And another thing.....everyone else in the office is cold, so they've put fan heaters on. I, on the other hand, am generating enough heat to fire a satellite into orbit, even without the help of the bloody fan heaters.

Beetle73 · 09/02/2009 14:02

p.s. MKG - sorry to hear about your sore undercarriage. Self-absorbed? Moi?

laumiere · 09/02/2009 14:21

Sorry to hear of the soreness issues Titchy and Ruby, but how do the tights help?

Hang on in there everyone, not long now!
