Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

MKG · 07/02/2009 13:54

Ok so last night I dreamt about the birth. I dreamt that I had a roommate (unheard of at my hospital in reality). I went in to be induced and this woman (my roomate) who was very nice in the beginning grabbed me in the middle of the night and cut me open and took out the baby and ran. Then I got up and ran after her, but I couldn't find her.

Moral of the story, MKG is not agreeing to an induction no way, no how.

ooh, what a horrible pregnancy scary dream MKG poor u! last nite I dreamt this architect moved into our house and refused to leave unless we paid him 10 thousand pounds! what can it all mean?! Am so tired all the time now, fed up of having to wee all the time, and I too have a low-hanging-busting out under clothes bump too! 6 more weeks for me, could really do with it coming sooner! I was addicted to white bread all last week but it had given me terrible constipation aghhghghg!

corgikelly · 07/02/2009 14:47

hi meep - I find Emily and Lily a bit too close to each other for my taste. If it were just a similarity in the vowel sound OR in the consonants, that would be one thing, but with both, I'd imagine the kids (and others) would have a hard time differentiating.

My two cents.

How is Eilidh pronounced, btw? It looks lovely and unusual.

titmouse · 07/02/2009 16:03

Eilidh has made me think of Elijah - not on my list but I really like it. Is that a name in use much these days?

laumiere · 07/02/2009 16:34

That sounds like a horrible dream MKG. Oddly my husband keeps dreaming he's not the father of this LO, whereas last time it was me having bad dreams! (Dreamed a zombie virus took London and my LO was all alone in the hospital in his incubator). I think it's a way for our baby-addled brains to tell us about anxieties we're having.

laweaselmys · 07/02/2009 17:38

Had a pretty unpleasant night last night - I've been feeling nauseous everyday when I go to bed, and ended up being sick last night including vomiting blood! Got a bit freaked out until I realised I was having a nose bleed and that's all that was going on. I'm not sure why I'm feeling sick then, but I thought I'd try and switch to eating little and often earlier in the day and see if that helps. Suspect my belly is just over full!

Made up for it by painting baby girl's room today though - it's Willow Tree green, and looks absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to get all the stuff in it!

laweaselmys · 07/02/2009 17:39

No bad dreams though thankfully. Urgh, it's hard enough sleeping with a bump without nightmares added to the mix. Much sympathy.

meep · 07/02/2009 18:21

titmouse it is pronounced ay-lee and is gaelic. Doesn't look strange up here but I am sure she woudl have to explain/spell/pronounce if she ever left Scotland!

THank you corgi - that is what is good about being on here - you get a completely unbiased perspective on things - that is kind of what I thought but friends and famiuly thanik it is okay (or they are just to scared to say anything negative to a scary hormonal pregnant lady!)

What a horrid nightmare mkg nad laumiere - yikes. My dreams have been a bit scary but nothing baby related.

law my nose is bleeding a lot at the moment (as are my gums) - they did last time too. Maybe the blood is what is making you sick? Horrible for you though.

jolly baby here has moved and I'm not really sure where - just know it is different than before and the kicks seem lower then before! MW in 2 weeks so I'm sure she'll tell me what's going on.

Since I'm having an elective section it is not such a worry - but supposedly they will stull want to know which way round it is so they know if they are pulling out a bum or a head !

With dd I don't think they realised she was back to back until she was staring up at them when they came to lift her out!

meep · 07/02/2009 18:25

laumiere just seen the pphotos of your gorgeous wee Michael - what a cutie!

Mandy73 · 07/02/2009 18:51

Hey ho,

How's everyone? Loving the new thread name.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one with freaky nightmares & nose bleeds.

Sorry I've not been around much, bogged down by work and bricking it for our 2nd uterine artery doppler scan. Had it on Thursd and it was fine! Got the CS date too: 16 March.
Now we're really beginning to think this could actually happen. 5 more Saturdays to go! Hooray.

Celebrated by buying a fancy bin.
xx

laumiere · 07/02/2009 18:55

Thanks meep and those aren't even the best pics :-)

law my friend had much the same, she found eating little and often to be the best thing. My dentist also recommended Corsodyl mouthwash for the bleeding gums, and swapping to a softer toothbrush and brushing more gently up and down.

lizziemun · 07/02/2009 21:45

Mandy

I hope you bin lovely .

MKG

I know what you mean about having a realy low hanging bump. Mine rubs on the top of my legs when i go upstairs .

FlannelCat · 07/02/2009 22:35

Hi all

Just thought I would post a quick update on Bettie Violet who was born 17th Jan at 31+4 weeks due to my pre-eclampsia.

Am very excited and pleased as she has just started properly breastfeeding as of yesterday, and the hospital said I might be able to room in and take her home next week, if she keeps gaining weight the weather isn't too bad etc. All in all, although not at all what we wanted in terms of birth, the whole thing hasn't been too bad. My bp has finally stabilised at an acceptable level and I feel pretty 'normal' again. The nurses on the NICU have been on the whole fantastic and supportive.

Also, just a bit of encouragement and advice to anyone who is worried about breastfeeding a premature baby/ or after a cesaerean - I made sure that I told everyone (nurses/midwives/doctors) that I wanted to breastfeed, so they managed to get me hooked up with a pump straight after delivery and I expressed every 3-4 hours. At first I was quite discouraged as I only managed to produce tiny amounts each time (sometimes barely enough to wet the bottom of the bottle), but after my milk came in at about 1 week, I started to produce more than enough. Apparently the key is to start expressing straight away, and don't give up.

She was fed the breastmilk through a tube until she could start taking a bottle, which made me worried that she wouldn't breastfeed, even though everyone including the breastfeeding councillor said it would be ok, so I kept trying her on the breast and after 3 attempts over 5 days - as she was often asleep at feeding time - she just finally latched on and was off. Sorry for the long and possibly irrelevent post, but I am so proud of her for doing so well.

I wish you all good luck and easy deliveries, it's so weird to think that I should still be pregnant!

laumiere · 07/02/2009 22:55

Glad to hear your kitten is doing well Flannelcat!

auntyspan · 07/02/2009 23:03

Flannelcat well done BOTH of you! I ended up mix-feeding DD1 after a crash c-section due to pre-eclampsia and I still feel bad about not being more focused on the bf.... I know how easy it is to get discouraged. You both sound as if you're doing fantastically - keep it up and let us know how you're doing. Will be great to get her home I'll bet...

I have my appointment to see the consultant a week on monday but have been pencilled in for a c-section on the 27th Feb (38 weeks). Bit scary as the house is in a mess (bathroom is finished now thankfully so have a fully working loo!) but hopefully will get it sorted this week.

Had DDs third birthday party this afternoon - exhausting!

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:05

Hello again! I am March 26 also. Surprise gender. Age 43 (! I know I am ancient..)

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:09

Flannelcat, how impressive you are working at your BF. I am really impressed.

Congratulations also btw! You may be taking home a little Valentine next Saturday!

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:10

Is anyone else here going for a VBAC or HBAC?

MKG · 07/02/2009 23:31

Congrats FlannelCat!! So happy that the two of you are doing so well. Hopefully she'll be home soon.
Welcome Bumblbee! Is this your first baby? Give us the details. There are a couple of ladies having VBAC and I'm sure they'll show up at some point.

Oh thanks MKG xxx

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:44

Bettie Violet - what a great name! I love both these names. They are on my list but DH always does final pick from my shortlist and he is going with Anna at the moment.

Have just noticed Wheelybug on the list. I think she is a VBAC er also. I am interested in how she is progressing with her hospital discussions...

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:45

I have a girl 2.5 yrs also MKG, meant to say before.

BumblBeee · 07/02/2009 23:47

MKG I was born in the USA - where are you?

babyinbelly · 08/02/2009 08:30

morning all.

Glad everythings going ok for you Flannelcat Bumblebeee we are hoping for a VBAC. Would love a HB but wassn't brave enough for it this time.

I had nightmares last night and night before. Last dreamt i was out clubbing at 8 months pg and the fell asleep in a tent-someone elses- Then was admitted to hospital cos my iron levels were so low they couldn't wake me up!

Slickbird · 08/02/2009 11:54

Meep My eldest DD is called Eilidh (she's 8 this month) and we've found that when she was first born there weren't as many around so we had to spell it for people more then, but now we find people know the spelling most of the time. I loved it and it was the only name we ever had for her as DH loved it too straight away.

As for Gethin- I desperately want to call this boy Gethin (my DH is Welsh too) but he's having none of it. So I'm a bit bummed about it, but you have to agree on a name!!

I can barely sleep for more than two minutes at a time just now from the searing pain in my ribs with them being stretched apart. Roll on the next three weeks!

Oooh Twocute! Meant to say, finally washed tonnes of newborn baby clothes on Friday and sorted the whole lot out and today the baby's bag WILL be packed!! Hurray. I also got the tens machine of my friend yesterday and am happy to report that I am fit to go at any time!
