Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

Still no action here, so no sign of an early arrival will be 39+2 tomorrow so not long left till d-day.

But I must be looking like sh*t becos at Asda this morning they opened a new checkout just for me - becos I supposedly looked 'tired'. I think they must have thought I looked like I was about to drop! Or maybe like I would kill someone.

jollyjoanne · 02/03/2009 18:26

Oh yeah and I get the kicking on both sides thing, it totally confuses me.

So no ideas on the bras I got mine from Debnehams in the sale but I am not sure how large they go up to.

laumiere · 02/03/2009 18:27

RE: holiday questions!

We took DS1 to Wales (we live in London) when he was 4 weeks old (so 36 weeks gestation adjusted) and to the West Country when we was 6 weeks. We also got married and took him on our honeymoon when he was 3 months old (so 3 weeks old adjusted).

With this LO we'll be flying to Spain when he's 7 months.

titmouse · 02/03/2009 18:51

where have people gone/ planning on going to get their nursing bras fitted, if that's what they are doing?

kanga sorry to hear you are getting sickness too, I agree it seems to be worse when I am tired - husband can make his own packed lunch tomorrow morning and I will keep sleeping

grinningbee · 02/03/2009 19:06

I was wondering about nursing bras too.

I've just had something really unexpected but lovely happen.

We moved into our bungalow just over 5 weeks ago. I haven't met many of the neighbours yet as they're mostly rather old and don't venture out.

However, just had a knock at the door and one of the little old ladies from a couple of doors away has knitted us two white pram blankets! She said did we know what we're having to which I said a girl, and she came back a couple of minutes later with two pink ones as well. You could knock me down with a feather. I'm planning to take her a bunch of flowers tomorrow as a thank you.

Must say, they're in the wash at the mo (watch me shrink them to flannels!!) as she is obviously a heavy smoker from the smell of them, but bless her heart

We need an "awwww" emoticon.

Wheelybug · 02/03/2009 19:55

I got my nursing bras in M&S - as I didn't manage bf-ing with dd I thought I'd get a basic two pack now and if it all works out can get better/more then. I was measured at 37 weeks but they said I should leave it a bit as I hadn't dropped but I wanted to get it sorted in case of early arrival... although that was 1.5 weeks ago !!

Just a thought but MKG has been absent today hasn't she ? I know she's in a different time zone but she usually has popped in by now hasn't she ?????

Wheelybug · 02/03/2009 19:57

oh I meant to say too that I eat loads of pineapple this afternoon and its given me the most horrendous indigestion. What is it with these late pregnancy solutions - raspberry leaf tea does the same for me.

MKG · 02/03/2009 22:25

Hi girls. I'm still here. I finished book 3 today (this whole reading thing is really cutting into my MN time). It's good I have them as this baby and my pain is getting weird at night, so since I'm up I might as well have a good book.

Of course now I'm thinking every little uncomfortable feel is the beginning of labor.

We are packed under 10 inches of snow now, so I really wouldn't mind this baby waiting until Thursday or Friday to allow some time for the snow and ice to melt a bit. But she'll be the typical stubborn Pisces girl and do it her own way anyway.

Hey ladies!! Well I may as well have missed this entire thread, lol! Im sorry for not catching up on ANYTHING!

Big congratulations to all those who have their little ones already!!

I have had a crap couple of weeks, DP was told he was being laid off on friday and as he only started his job 6 months ago they gave im only 1 weeks notice so he is frantically job hunting, we are looking at benefits etc (which I never imagined doing...ever...never mind with baby due in less than 1 week!) He is officiall unemployed from saturday, my due date! It means that if he hasnt found work by the end of April we will have to up sticks and move back to my parents 50 miles away, not ideal to say the least! This was after a friend losing his 4 year old daughter and another friend losing her newborn daughter who was only 2 days old. Midwives are worried I am going to sink into depression so I will be under constant postnatal depression watch!! Sorry to bring down a happy thread!

I am 39+2 (+3 in less than an hour, lol!!) and am SUPER ready for this baby to show his little face now to prove that good can still happen, this thread is helping though...seeing all those little new baby stats! I am having a lot of twinges and keep getting my hopes up that its time...but then nothing more happens!

Hope everyone is doing good!!

titmouse · 03/03/2009 08:58

emma welcome back and so sorry to hear about your DP's job and also the awful news of your friends losing their children, what a dreadful time for you both.
No words really, except focus on your little one and keep yourself well, and prayers for you at a really crap time xxxx

babyinbelly · 03/03/2009 09:08

Emma. Glad you made it make on. Was just starting to wonder if you had popped yet!

Sorry to hear about your DP. Benefits take ages to come through but once you get them I am sure you will manage fine. Theres loads you should be able to get. Remember that once the baby's here you can get working tax credit.

CaptainKarvol · 03/03/2009 09:27

Hi all,

lovely to hear about all these new babies, I'm off to search for Lolijana's thread soon to find out what went on!

Emma, what horrible news, I hope your DP finds a new job really quickly. And your poor, poor friends, how dreadful. I can't think what to say. You look after yourself, and I hope your LO puts in a happy appearence very soon.

On first time babies and due dates - I went to 40+7 with DS - my mum's theory is that boy babies are lazy and arrive later! This one is surprise flavour, so I don't know what to think - I'm 38+2 now, but apart from some painful BH's last week have no inkling whether anything is starting. But then with DS the first sign I had was my waters going! I can feel my boobs getting bigger though. I'm surprised I can't see the things expanding TBH, and one side is merrily leaking colostrum already.

Right, I have a 'to do' list as long as my arm, and have only had 45 minutes sleep since 3.30 this morning (and, irony, DS was actually asleep from about 3.30 to nearly 6 am, all that time I could have been kipping and I was downstairs writing lists - some dysfunctional form of nesting maybe?)

Labour vibes to all those in need!

laweaselmys · 03/03/2009 09:54

meep thanks - hopefully I am having some BH and just can't tell. I'd like to think my womb is doing something to get ready for labour!

I received notification that my MA allowance is coming today. I got the full amount (which is going to be very handy) and it goes up after 6th April. (Not sure why, but hey!)

laweaselmys · 03/03/2009 09:55

Emma Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. Hopefully your DP will be able to get a job, and if not maybe the extra support you'd get with your parents would be really helpful. Try and stay positive - it's not over yet!

babyinbelly · 03/03/2009 10:01

just to give you all a bit of a laugh and TMI. I thought i'd share my gross story. cant tell people i actually know! Was suffering awful constipation on sunday and was in the toilet for nearly an hour! in the endit was so painful i sat on my knees on the bathroom floor and was about to start crying when the poo started to move. 2seconds later I had a massive poo on my bathroom floor! Very embaressing - I haven't told DP! Never felt so much releif in my life tho!

So to all those who may be suffering. Get on your hands and knees!!!

Go on you can all laugh at my expense!

I also weed on DS potty yesterday cos I had a coughing fit and couldn't make it up the stairs in time.

Am having hot curry tonight so labour vibes much appriciated Captain.

Hi everyone,, glad to see Emma back, sorry about dps job and your poor friends you must be feeling awful, this happened to us back in Oct when dd1's friend passed away but you will get there and soon you will have a lovely little blue bundle in your arms to coo over and make you smile so just stay focused on resting and being ready for the big event

I havent seen any midwives or any thing for 3 weeks, have to see gp on friday and I am not sure baby is the right way up
keep getting low down kicks and there is a bump right at my ribs, maybe a bum but I am not convinced so hopefully baby will stay put till I find out for sure!

Re 1st babies being late I think it depends don't think there is a pattern, DD1 was 12 days late, DD2 was 8 days early and DS was 1 day late.My mum had me at 37 weeks and my younger sister at 39+6 so just depends on when baby choose to appear IMHO!

We took DD1 on a plane to Dublin (from Glasgow) when she was 2 weeks old and she was a delight! Just slept most of the time TBH!
This time we are going to Germany for a wedding in May so baby will still be tiny although we are more dreading the fact of having a 7, 5, and 2 year old plus a newborn and trying to find our way about!

Labour vibes to any one that needs them and good luck if you go into labour before I log back on again! L x

Wheelybug · 03/03/2009 13:12

Hi All

Nice to see you Emma - sorry to hear all your news though.

Sorry you weren't in labour MKG !!

Not much to report here - I need to go into labour now as I've just had my hair done . Actually I need to wait a couple of hours as dd has a friend here on a playdate so probably best to wait until she's picked up !!

As for holidays - we took dd to cornwall at about 4 months (not very adventurous) and flew with her at about 8 months. TBH, its easier to fly with them when babies than when toddlers. I found the worst bit was when they wanted to move about and couldn't be tempted by colouring etc. We're planning to go somewhere hot in the summer holidays this time round so db will be about 4 months or so.

Wheelybug · 03/03/2009 13:12

I wonder if Goldmother has had her baby yet ??

meep · 03/03/2009 14:42

Oh Emma what a horrible time you're going through. It's good to hear that the MW's have got an eye on you, It is difficult to tell yourself if you have pnd - so it is heartening that they are noting things in advance.

I have just experienced our first full blown toddler tantrum - in the John lewis cafe - full on screaming/back arching/tears/stamping feet. We had to leave! I am never leaving the house again. All I could think was "how on earth would I cope with this if I had a newborn with me as well" - eeek!

bib you made me laugh out loud!

Who was asking about nursing bras for those of us with larger boobage? I just got one from John Lewis - 36G - light cotton and only £19. I am just going to go with that to start with and buy more if we can get the bf to work this time round.

grinningbee what a lovely old lady! When dd was born we had moved into our house 2 weeks before hand and had a procession of old ladies twitching the curtains to come and greet us when we went out for walks!

However I feel sorry for our downstairs neighbour - his bedroom is directly under our living room where I spent my days of labour moo-ing like a cow (he assures me he heard nothing) - and now he has to endure a toddler dropping things on the wooden floor - and will soon have a crying baby at all times of day and night - bet he was glad when we moved in!

lilymolly · 03/03/2009 14:51

lurker here - sorry

I am 38 weeks today and feeling rubbish
full of cold with sore throat and generally feel very sorry for myself

I went 42 weeks with dd so could have another 4 weeks to go- Seriously I dont think I can do that- I feel so down in the dumps I could cry.
I also have agonising back pain in my left shoulder, its a muscular pain, burning and nothing I can do can relieve it.

congrats to you all who have ahd your little ones x

EllieorOllie · 03/03/2009 15:42

Afternoon ladies

Well, I'm 37 wks and 6 today. On the home stretch now although I don't feel it. Had all the symptoms of imminent labour when just about 36 weeks, and now absolutely nothing!! Baby is head down, LOA, 3/5 or more engaged, mucous plug has gone (twice), constant BH, occasional 'real' contractions, back pain, period pain... But no baby. Argh!!!

Meep - i greatly sympathise with the toddler tantrums, my DD has regressed and started tantrumming all over the place. She is with her grandma today, and it is nice to have a little break from it. Have decided that when the bubba is born i will only be venturing out when accompanied, and whoever is with me can take charge of the rampaging toddler!

Emma - sorry to hear your news, try to focus on looking after yourself and make sure you rest and eat properly.

Re nursing bras - i got mine fitted in mothercare, and although i didn't actually believe the lady's sizing initially, i think it was pretty accurate. the 'panache for moda' sets in there are gorgeous, and less expensive than the normal 'designer' stuff. £24 for the bra i think.

Congrats to all those who have had their little ones. Please send some labour vibes my way. The spd is beyond a joke now!!

lizziemun · 03/03/2009 16:09

emma Sorry to hear your sad news.

I Am 39wks and have had bad backache all day and last night been up since just after 2am I have also had some realy painfull contractions/BH's.

Am waiting dh gets in from work (he in maidenhead today and tomorrow then Nottingham) on courses, to discuss with him whether i sould phone the delivery ward to find out they want me to do as i was told by the consultant to go to in if/when i was labour to be checked because of baby position and cord position.

So I am going with the ignore the pain for now and just get on with job's that need doing.

laweaselmys · 03/03/2009 16:35

I forgot to say - our car is fixed! Huzzah. But still stranded eighty miles away so am not allowed to start labour until DP can go and get it (and the cot, and a load of bits we had to leave at his parents house when we were stranded in the snow) at the weekend.

I think I'm going to leave him to make the rescue trip on his own though. Much as I love his company I don't fancy another 4 hour trek on public transport or being so far away from my chosen hospital.

Wheelybug · 03/03/2009 16:55

sounds promising Lizzie and Ellie !

After some thoughts from people who have gone into labour before (I've had a baby but no real labour).

Every day for the last week (getting progressively worse in the evenings but then goes once i go to bed) I've had braxton hicks which are beginning to make me stop what i'm doing and breath a bit - more v. uncomfortable than painful. Now, I don't think for a minute that I'm going into labour each evening but just wanted to know if anyone has had this and its gone on for weeks and weeks to no avail or is it likely to mean that I might get there in the next 2 weeks ?
