Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

wrolf, I'm new to posting and getting used to all these capital letters, and I assumed Wheelybug also means Been There Done That...

help I might be entirely wrong!!!

Maybe that pain you and hedge witch had was a pulled ligament??? Did you take a painkiller for it?

kanga5 · 19/02/2009 17:23

oh I am right thanks captain

laweaselmys · 19/02/2009 17:42

Been There Done That... I've only just worked that one out!

I've just put 2+2 together (or rather 24 hrs for my sister, and 45 minutes for me) and realised my mum had a silent labour with me!!

She had a hospital birth anyway, because it started in the lift for the antenatal class and she just got off on the labour floor instead. I think I'm going to be keeping my labour bag in the house with me just in case... (mind you fingers crossed I have no inherited the breech baby gene, so hopefully I will skip this one too!)

jollyjoanne · 19/02/2009 18:06

Evening everyone, had a relatively productive day today. I have painted some doors and part of the bannister, the house now stinks but I feel that I am at least putting this time to good use.

Still no signs of imminent labour, but as a first timer I suppose I will be on here as soon as anything happens to check if I am really in labour or just being stupid. And there is still plenty of time until my due date anyway, well 2 weeks and a few days but I am trying not to think about the labour bit as it tends to scare the life out of me, so I am just going to try and play it be ear when it happens.

Nobody understands my MN name... I get asked about it all the time. (It's short for La Weasel Mysterioux... it doesn't actually mean anything at all!) so I wouldn't worry about yours... anyway, Flaming Lips and awesome. What would you change it to?

BTDT people, did any of you use a TENS machine? I'm a wuss when it comes to pain, and was wondering if this would help in the early stages before I can go to hospital? I've left it too late to rent one now, but was going to buy one second hand online.

meep · 19/02/2009 18:24

yes yes yes to TENS! You can rent them from Boots - just go in and I bet they have one you could rent (I got mine the day before I went into labour !

I agree with meep.

Yes to tens, and Boots usually lend it to you only a couple of weeks before due date, and for two weeks after.

I should have bought one as I am facing hiring one for the fifth time.

As i mentioned before DH thinks it is a placebo. i disagree as I found the tingling a better distraction than labour pains. It didn't work once i got to about 7 or 8 cms then Gas is great.

give it a go esp in early stages xx

MKG · 19/02/2009 18:39

Hi all. Checkup was good. Baby is estimated to be at 6 lb 6 oz so I'm very happy and she'll probably be between 7-8 lbs as though, so Woo hooo.

I stopped and got my EPO and raspberry tea on my way to work so I'm prepared .

Had a chat with the midwife about when to go to the hospital and since I have a history of fast deliveries, she recommened that I call and go in as soon as I know I'm in labor or if I've had a few contractions within 15-30 minutes, figuring that waiting the normal hour would mean I'd give birth on the side of the highway. She told me that having sex would help, to which I laughed and said it was a long shot of that happening any time soon.

We did talk induction if I make it to my due date so I told her I'd rather schedule it to go with my husbands work schedule so looks like I'll go in on the 9th and it'll probably happen on the 10th.

Just back from consultant and the good news is that the baby is no longer tranverse. The bad news is that the baby is head down, but laying on it side (so backbone is down my left side) and the head is bent back slightly. So I have been told that as soon as i know i am in labour i have to get to the hospital to make sure the baby hasn't turned back and the cord is in the right place.

laumiere · 19/02/2009 19:17

lizziemum are our LOs position buddies or something? DS2 was apparently doing exactly the same thing earlier!

LOL at the MN names, mine is so dull by comparison, it's just the name of the tube station in Paris nearest to where I used to live....

Still having clear shows once or twice a day and finding getting out of bed is a major leverage exercise!

wrolf · 19/02/2009 19:28

tens machine - I just got my delivered next day from here www.tens-hire.co.uk/?gclid=CJyow7Oo6ZgCFQ4yQgodSBkV1A - fab service

would you believe have had two children without it occuring to me to use one! interested to see if it works!

wrolf · 19/02/2009 19:29

mkg, why have you got to be induced?

MKG · 19/02/2009 19:30

Are tens very popular over there? My dad used one for the pain from his cancer, but I don't know anyone who has ever used it during labor. I think you can get them on doctors perscription, but have never seen it one randomly in a store.

MKG · 19/02/2009 19:32

Because of the gestational diabetes they aren't comfortable with me going past my dates. I'm not too worried about it though because I've never made it to my due date, and since at my last appointment she said my cervix was softening I think it will go smoothly.

No one thinks I'm leaving February, but I think the first week in March will be my time.

OP posts:
wrolf · 19/02/2009 19:40

yes, very popular, I think MKG

MKG · 19/02/2009 19:42

Wanna talk lame names. MKG is my initials. when I first started I wanted to remember who I was. I was mom2latinoboys for a while, but MKG is just who I am, and I can't pretend to be anything else.

Hi ladies, scan was o.k, fluid around baby o.k and dopplers fine, being induced on monday. My consultant examined me and I was 2cm dilated, cervix soft but quite high, she gave me a stretch and sweep and said that my waters could be broken if need be, i have bleed quite a bit after and think I've had a show, any ideas on how to get things moving naturally?? Have done the deed with dh......

Missmodular · 19/02/2009 21:59

Lizziemun - I think mine might be in the same position as yours! Head is down but not engaged I don't think - I keep feeling a lot of pressure on my left hip bone, so I think it's lying kind of diagonally. It's been like that for weeks. Midwife appt tomorrow should hopefully confirm.

Titchy - you're nearly there! Fingers crossed it all happens for you this weekend.

FWIW, I used a tens machine last time and found it bloody useless. Although I didn't really have any 'early stage' just went from nothing into full on labour pains!

Well ladies, wish me luck tomorrow - I'm moving house and just need to make sure I don't go into labour until we've at least got the boxes into the new place. After that it's Raspberry Leaf tea all the way...

Wheelybug · 19/02/2009 22:23

Titchy - glad all was as ok as it could go. I wonder how Goldmother got on, I think she was having more tests today.

I have check up at ANC tomorrow at 37 weeks - fingers crossed blood pressure is still behaving itself.....

Slickbird · 19/02/2009 22:30

Well Tens machine worked for me. I wished I'd used it sooner - the intense prickly pain was much better than the labour pain - like I said before, it may work better if you are having backache labours - maybe not so good for normal? Don't know, just a guess.

Mine tend to lie head down but OP or back to back so I'm not sure if it's just the way I'm built. If I have a different labour in that respect with the pains in the front - and therefore, hopefully, more effective contractions - I'll be happy bunny as it should make the whole process shorter. As opposed to 48 hours first time, 36 hours second.

Had to laugh at the 'Dynamo calling me later on today to tell me my platelets were up. Thanks love, I already sorted that one. Bless her, she's really not that bad, but when you speak to her on the phone, she just sounds sooooo bored.

Maybe it's me boring her. That wouldn't be a first.

Slickbird · 19/02/2009 22:36

PS - Also funny that you have all started talking about the origins of your MN name - I was going to start a thread asking how they came about, because some of them are really curious! - Mine came about because I used to get called 'Slick' by an American producer I used to work with (I used to work in TV). I also had a habit for a long time of calling friends 'bird' - As in, "Alright bird?" just in an ironic kind of way. When I was trying to get a name on ebay...Oh, god, no I'm boring myself. Yeah, maybe it's not the Dynamo, I really think it is me.....

twocutedarlings · 20/02/2009 08:12

Slickbird Are you famous? do we know you? i am curious now LOL.

titchy good luck on monday, i wonder if you will have the next baby .

MissModular Hope things go smoothly with your move today.

Well my DH is working a 2.5 hour drive from home today so i hope to god that today is not the day, although he is not that far away in comparison, DD2 was born at 39+2 which is what i am today!! and i only had a 3 hour labour!!

I still have a bad cold and a cough, ive pulled all the mucsels across my bump from coughing!! so i feel like shite!! how on earth will i cope if i go into labour feeling like this? .

CaptainKarvol · 20/02/2009 08:51
