Plus I email DH all day long...

LuLuBai · 04/02/2009 14:08

Yeah - one of the great shocks to me was not knowing what was going on in the outside world. Like BB I used to do PR so I used to read every national paper, every day. TBH I was a complete media junkie. And since DD I struggle to read a newspaper once a week.

But wierd as it is, I really don't want to go back to work just yet. Life is radically different to how it was before, but I am enjoying throwing myself 100% into motherhood.

I think after this one I will probably take a break from babies (possibly leaving it at 2) and try to get back a bit more of a 'me' life when they are old enough not to need me so much.

But for the time being this is good.

That was another reason why I felt I could leave the States (my 'home town') Everyone there was SO uncerned with the rest of the world, and didn't want to hear about it...and they expected everyone to be pretty much the way they themselves were. Heaven forbid someone enjoyed reading foreign novels or wanting to see the world and understand what other people may feel and think...

BoffinMum · 04/02/2009 14:33

I am with you on that, Nutty and Bleu. If there's one thing age has taught me, it is that people are complex and complicated, and that is the whole point to being human. We shouldn't judge others too quickly.

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2009 14:54

I dream of a cottage in the middle of nowhere, and chickens and vegetable patches and gardening in wellies and a bikini with a fully recovered post baby body. And to have DH home all day being Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall in the kitchen.
And lots of boisterous dogs and rosy cheeked, curly haired children.

It is strange to not have adult company when you are on Mat leave but i think that's why DD's vocab is so good for her age because I found myself just talking to her all day long about anything and everything.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 14:58

I have never ever understood that mentality - yes people are entitled to opinions (I certainly have MANY of my own!) but to enforce that on other people is just ignorant - no one person has a perfect life and as such doesn't have the right to criticise other people as a result of that - grr - In an ideal world I would cherry pick elements from all our lives and have that but alas that is impossible....

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2009 14:59

Nutty - Love the thread title suggestion. I do wonder if others notice our titles and think what on earth?

Ginger - Yes it's much nicer here. There are some odd and mean spirited characters on MN and even some downright nasty ones. I feel a bit sorry for people like that, I wonder what is making them so unhappy that they need to lash out at others. Surely it feels good to be kind. I do think that for every oddball though, there are vastly more posters who are generous natured and thoughtful.

conkertree · 04/02/2009 15:00

great picture puzzle of you gardening in wellies and a bikini - if we get any sun this year, might have to try that.

I think if we were doing village life properly, eg big enough garden to be self sufficient in vegetables and maybe a pig or two (my ultimate dream) it would be great - that was always the intention, but we are in a smallish house with the neighbour from hell using our garden for access to his flat, and not quite living the dream just yet.

but maybe if we ever sell the house, we will find the dream one (or better still a big field that we can build in).

I am totally torn by exactly what bb and lulu say though - main part of me wants to make the kilts work so I can be at home with ds and lo all the time. another part of me wants to put on my suit and go back to the office part time and be doing a salaried job.

But I think I will give the kilts the best go I can, and if it doesnt work, at least I will have tried.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:02

Oh that does sound nice - I would love to have a really isolated cottage where me, DH and our beautiful (from DH's genetic pool apparently!) children can live and play where I can bake and arrange flowers and DH can have his own furniture making business (that's his ideal job) in a big cabin thing at the back of the garden (which will be at least 2 acres long!!!) Tis never going to happen but I can dream...

Conker I would go with the kilt - if that works out you might end up in a suit managing your own company anyway!!!

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:05

kind of like this but in the garden...

conkertree · 04/02/2009 15:06

yup bb - its great to dream, but the reality is never quite the same.

In my dream cottage, with the few acres, its sunny a lot - that just doesnt happen up here. It would be vaguely sunny for a few weeks in May, and the occasional few days in July and August, but apart from that it would be dull and rain a lot so the pigs would be rolling around in a mud bath all year round - they'd be happy I suppose.

Conker - It's certainly worth giving it a go, you only get one life.

Nutty - Of course

BB -Yes but with Pamela Anderson boobs , well maybe not quite that big. I keep seriously thinking that when i'm done with carrying and feeding babies I might buy myself a shiny new pair, sort of reclaim them for me and DH. Does that sound really shallow?

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2009 15:11

Nutty - My Mum has just been to Maui, she said it was heavenly. Her friend has just bought a place there and my Mum was whale watching fom the spare bedroom!

PuzzleRocks · 04/02/2009 15:13

Right, just had a client email, I have got to go and do some work. Bye for now.

what am i talking about cottages in the countryside - nutty that island living sounds so much more appealing. you could live on fruit and seafood, and have a little guest wing to make a little extra money.

now thats idyllic.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:17

Once I am done with the milking of my herd I will definitely get them done - probably a life more than implants but I am all for extra help!

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:18

lift rather not life!!

conkertree · 04/02/2009 15:20

lol bb - i was picturing you actually miling cows in your bikini and wellies in your idyllic cottage, but i see what you mean now .

i did wonder about a little help in the extra skin/tummy department, but think i will try Davina McCall's methods first - unless she actually got help with it herself and i just dont keep up with the sleb gossip.

BabyBolat · 04/02/2009 15:23

Ha ha - may be the same thing if DH gets his way with all the children he wants!!!
