Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

charmargot · 23/02/2009 13:52

Just come on here, I'm due 1st October.
So sorry to pepperpots and baby.
I feel like a bag of poo! Is it normal to be quite so tired? This is 2nd pregnancy and I got SPD at 30 weeks last time, I'm only 8 weeks now and already I have lower back and pelvic pain. I really don't enjoy being pregnant!!!

ChucklesMcMummy · 23/02/2009 13:55

Hi Everyone and welcome newbies

Sry not been around for a while but due to lack of symptoms (sorry to rub it in if you're having a hard time) I was starting to feel really paranoid reading all the updates on MS so stayed away for a while.

Had my midwife App this morning which went really well. Very pleased that nuts can now be on the menu and sea food if cooked at home. Should get scan date within 4 weeks so looking forward to that arriving.

We did discuss the Downs testing which I'd decided not to have, but you can go privately and have a scan at around 11 weeks which will give you a def. yes or no to Downs rather than the blood test which is only a possibility of downs or the more dangerous test which could cause miscarriage. Going to have a think about that one and discuss with DH. Has anyone else thought about the Downs test and what they would do?
icantbelieveitsnotbitter - my smear was due this month but midwife said that they can't do the test when you're pregnant because the cervix isn't fully closed and could cause problems so they leave it until 3 months after birth so I will be booking one for January 2010 (wow that seems like a life time away!)rin]

Hope you're all in fine fettle! xx[g

idreamofbeanie · 23/02/2009 14:06

Hi Chuckles,

I thought that only amnio or cvs gave a definite result? Don't scans just give a probability, how can they see a chromosome abnormality on a scan? I decided not to have any screening as I would be reluctant to put the baby at risk having either a amnio or cvs done so why have the worry of the knowing your risk. My midwife said that at my age (30) and with no family history I'm fairly low risk anyway so I just didn't want something else to worry about. I might be biased though - my mum was told she had a high risk of me being born with Down's syndrome but after 2mc's she didn't want an amnio. I was fine but the rest of the pregnancy was very stressful. I fully understand why people would have the tests done though.

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 23/02/2009 14:09

I did wonder about the smear during pregnancy but, our surgery use the new method where they brush a few cells off and rinse them into a liquid - rather than the old scrape and smear on a glass slide with a supersized lolly stick ! GP doesn't see any reason why this new method can't be done during pregnancy and shouldn't cause any problems.

Hopefully blood test results will be back in 3-5 days and I can take a piriton tonight to help with any itchy episodes just in case it's an allergic reaction !

Would love to see that heartbeat soon......

HumphreysCorner · 23/02/2009 14:30

DevilsAdvocaat-how about DH's grandma. It makes it hard to think about your happy news when all around are so sad. Give DH a hug from the HC household.

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter-crikey, hope you get the itching sorted. What a nightmare.

charmargot-hello and congratulations. Alot of us feel grotty, me included. I got SPD with DD2 and it wasn't nice. Was 4 stone overweight then so now I'm thinner I hope if I get it then it won't be so bad.

I got a blood test risk of 1:195 so had an amnio. I will probably do the same again if results are high. Having said that they did a very detailed scan and couldn't find any soft msrkers and a friend got similar results but after the scan decided against an amnio and her baby was fine. Will wait until the issue arises.

Hi all.

baby thank you for the resurance.x

pepper I honestly dont know what to say, Im so very sorry and I hope you and your dp are getting plenty of support.x

I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow to get the ball rolling.
I thought severe itching in pregnancy was to do with the liver function, I hope its nothing serious.x

Ive got the most overwhelming want for SUSHI, I had it for breakfast and tea on Saturday and again for tea last night . I checked and its fine to eat as long as its been frozen first.

sammysam · 23/02/2009 14:49

Hi everyone! What a lot of posts! Have only managed to skim through them

I'm so very very sorry baby and pepperpots I wish you all the best of luck for the future-sending loads of love your way....

I feel very guilty for moaning after reading your news.
Saw the doc on fri who diagnosed me with hypernemesis and prescribed me with Promethazine hydrochloride-has anyone taken it? I'm waiting for them to phone me back cos i'm having quite a few side effects-I cannot keep my eyes open (they are also used for insomnia!!!), feel dizzy and stoned all the time and keep having involuntary leg movements and restless legs. I have however only been sick a few times since taking them.
To be honest i'm not sure what is worse!

I'm so scared (as everyone else is) about the chance of a mmc-I really don't think i can go through this again-i'm just praying this is the last time i need to and that the scan shows a healthy baby-no idea how i'm going to while away the next 3-4 wks (hopefully i'm 9+1 today-according to FF)
Hopefully i'll get the scan date through in the post in the next couple of days....

I'd love for mil to take dd every afternoon but she works part time so not an option...may have to make fri a regular thing though

I hope everyone is having a good day x x x

littlepea72 · 23/02/2009 14:52

Pepper so sorry about your news, alot of us have been there before, but nothing that anyone can say can makes it feel any better. We are all thinking of you

Ive just come back from seeing the doctor, he gave me gaviscon for my sickness, but if it doesnt help then i will get something stronger. He also said to remember that its a sign of a healthy pregnancy and then said that judging by the size of my tummy, it could be a pregnancy off two! He was only joking, but i still near ran out off his office! Good sign or not, i will still wait for the scan to put my mind at rest.

doggus · 23/02/2009 15:00

Pepperpots and baby - really very very sorry. I feel bad for you.

I haven't been on for a while as I am just so tired. I can barely put one foot in front of the other. It's not a nice sleepy, dozy tiredness, more the feeling you get before flu, aches and pains. Anyone else feel like this? I'm 41 so could be my age?

I am testing everything possible for Downs because of my age and because dh and I have chatted endlessly about it and we couldn't cope. That may sound controversial but we have honestly put a lot of thought into this.

In other news I have put on three bloody pounds and I'm only 8 weeks.

doggus · 23/02/2009 15:02

sammysam - your hyperemesis sounds rotten. I had a friend with it, once, she had to carry round nappy sacks into which she constantly did little bits of sick. Trouble was we had met for lunch

sammysam · 23/02/2009 15:05

Doggus-dp has been very honest and said that there is no way he could cope with downs or anything else-I just hope that everything is ok as it would put me in a very difficult situation as I think I could......but not on my own. Lets hope it doesn't come to that

Littlepea- at your docs comment!!! Quite a scary thought!!! I hope the gaviscon works for you!

Cazza28 · 23/02/2009 16:19

I'm feeling really grumpy this afternoon just snapped at someone for asking me to do something that is totally my job!

Really don't want to play today!

bananapaddlepop · 23/02/2009 16:38

Hi all,

We've had an early miscarriage too. I won't go into the details.

I wish you ladies the best of luck.

xx

tracyea · 23/02/2009 17:09

Afternoon all

Pepperpots - I'm so sorry for you and DH. My DH and i had been TTC for 2 years when i got pregnant a couple of years ago and then had a MC at 12 wks. We went back to TTC for another 1 1/2yrs with fertility treatment etc but then decided to call it a day because it was too stressfull. Now unbelievably with absolutely NO TTC, I'm pregnant at 38. Don't make any decisions yet, give yourself some time and some love and then see.

Bananapaddlepop - really sorry, take care

Devils advocat - sorry about DH's grandma, the circle of life is a funny old thing...

Phoned up the hospital today and managed to get a 8 week "reassurance" scan on Thursday. They said I might not get a 12 week scan because of this extra one. I think though I qualify for a nuchal scan between 11-13 weeks because of my old age! Each time that I have been pregnant, I have felt differently about what I would do if I was very high risk for down's. I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

theboob · 23/02/2009 17:40

pepperpots and bananapaddlepop so very sorry for you both

devilsadvocat so sorry to hear of dh grandma

sammy hope you start to feel better soon now you have your meds

Treats · 23/02/2009 17:43

pepperpots ad bananapaddlepop- I'm so very sorry to hear your news.

sammysam and doggus - you poor ladies! You both sound like you're really suffering. I feel really guilty to be getting through the day feeling just fine most of the time.

Hi idob - we're off to Lanzarote in three weeks. We only booked it a few days before I found out I was pregnant. It's quite nice because it's the landmark at the end of the first trimester. I'll have the 12-week scan the day after we get back. And we'll know that we can finally tell everyone.

HappyTangerine · 23/02/2009 18:36

Hiya
Pepperpots and bananapaddlepop - I am so very sorry. Take care

Welcome to newbies and congratulations

I've managed to keep antibiotics down until I had to drive to a meeting in Oxford today. Had to stop and be sick or retch 4 times on the way there and 6 times on the way back-I don't think it helped that I'd been up since 4am and only had 4 hrs sleep. But for 4 blissful hours-no pain! I feel so guilty about taking the paracetemol and antibiotics though. Nice policewoman came up to me as I was retching out of my parked car in a dog bag at the M6 toll services, took me in there and sat me down with a drink. Roll on Friday when I no longer have long journeys to do!

Re the Downs test-I'm a higher risk due to age as well(will be 36 when baby born). I'll take the blood test probably but nothing else.

Have a good evening everyone
x

altagloria · 23/02/2009 18:51

So sorry for your losses bananapaddlepop and pepperpots.

I'm having a wee scare just now - went to the loo when i got home from work tonight and there was a small amount of thin pale brown liquid after wiping.

I can't tell if it's blood or discharge but of course am petrified. Called the doc who said if I'm not in pain and feel ok then it's not doom and gloom and to go into their open surgery tomorrow morning.

I'm 7+1. Has anyone else had this (and been ok!)?

littlepea72 · 23/02/2009 18:54

Banana....really sorry about your news, im thinking of you xxx

Sammy im not going to complain about my sickness, if i was in your boat i would have something to complain about! LOL....Side-affects only really last for a couple of weeks, so if you can put up with that then your flying. Has to be better than being sick

Hope everyone else is doing ok

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 23/02/2009 19:33

Very sorry for everyone leaving the thread. xxx

hope you are ok altagloria.

I had a MC at 5 weeks last time and there was a lot of blood and period-like pain only more painful. I don't think you can do anything about it apart from see the doc tomorrow and wait and see.

I don't want to scare you too much as we are all different and it might just be 'spotting'. Try not to worry too much. Take it easy too. Take the day off work tomorrow if you need it. I ended up at the hospital last time after my doc sent me there.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 23/02/2009 19:45

Thought I would add my symptoms to the list.

Does anyone else feel really achy? My shoulders, hips, legs and back are all aching and have been since I got pregnant really. I am 35 but this is ridiculous I feel like a right old duffer. Is it something to do with our muscles / joints in pregnancy? Can I do anything to help it?

Not feeling as tired now but have had some v v v bad constipation (sorry if TMI). Hope no one else has had it as it is awful!

Anyone got any super healthy pregnancy diet that isn't too cruel?

On the plus side only feel sick if hungry.

xx

HumphreysCorner · 23/02/2009 20:12

bananapaddlepop-I am so sorry to hear your news. You had only just got a BFP-I assume it was a chemical pregnancy. Take care {{xx}}

altagloria-when I started to MC at 12 weeks it was bright red blood and cramps so I am hoping all will be OK. Will check on you tomorrow.

sammysam-hope the side effects pass as you need to take them.

Seem to be sicking everything up today.

Love to all.

Thanks for responses - no more brown stuff on last loo trip and no cramps so keeping positive. Hopefully it will stay that way and I will get a scan tomorrow.

Feel like I've worried so so much about things going wrong that I've made it inevitable - really stupid as it's my first pregnancy but have read so many sad stories on here that I haven't been able to get it out of my head

charmargot · 23/02/2009 20:30

Hey Doggus and Half Biscuit. By goodness do I feel tired and achey!!! At 6pm tonight after tea and washing up I could barely move! I do have SPD which is a bummer (I'm overweight, but only 1 stone and pretty fit and active). I had it last pregnancy from 30 weeks so I'm shocked it's come on so quick. It'll be all the relaxin etc that's making you ache so half biscuit.
I feel like an invalid. I feel like I'm going to have to treat myself as a cripple to make it through the next 32 weeks But as my Mum said when I rang her up to whinge tonight - and therefore tell her when I wasn't planning to "don't be wishing you weren't pregnant or you may find you're not and then you'll be sorry". She's right of course. Thankfully whereas the last pregnancy was "my fault" this one was definitely his "fault" so he'd better give me some sympathy when he gets home from Dubai tomorrow.

charmargot · 23/02/2009 20:34

Oh, biscuit, things that help are not doing any housework!!!! Hoovered today and I reckon that's what's really made me feel so awful. Keep aligned when you can and don't strain yourself. Yoga and swimming can help, but beware breast stroke and yoga butterfly as it won't help your pelvis.
Are we allowed to prescribe ourselves bed rest? I wish I could hibernate til October!
