Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

Hi All,

Is any one feeling really cold? I am at my desk with a winter coat on gloves and a scarf! My colleagues have threatened to cut the plug off my heater if i put it on again!!

theboob · 19/02/2009 17:52

hello everyone and welcome to the newbies

i'm keeping on top of the sickness by eating as soon as i feel a little hungry, fingers crossed i dont put to much weight on

have had a lovely day today,we all went to the tower for ds2 birthday treat,he loved the circus and my little bump came in handy in the huge cue for the circus with a toddler on my hip!! just goes to show there are some kind people left in the world,i'm getting a little worried at the size of my belly my mum worried me today when she asked when i have a scan booked as i was very big and she thinks there are 2 in there

well we are getting there ladies the weeks are ticking by and apt are being made,we are all learning how to deal with our symtoms .....i think we all deserve a pat on the back!!!!! well done all

smallone · 19/02/2009 19:56

Hi ladies,
DH is out and I've just done my pg exercise vid so am shining my halo while mning! This is the best time of day for me, dd in bed and no nausea and I've got till about 9pm before I'm completely knackered!

cazza yes I'm cold all the time, except for in bed, where I keep waking up sweating! In fact it was the bone chilling that made me think I was pg in the first place, I just couldn't get warm and it was the same when I was pg with dd.

BellaCullen · 19/02/2009 20:06

Hi everyone,
got my scan appointment on 23.3 cant wait and amazed I got my appointment so soon last time I had to chase them up several times for it.Only 4 and a bit weeks till then cant wait.

Smallone love watermelon too seem to cook for family in evening and then feel nauseaus,so eat watermelon which is only thing that works.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/02/2009 20:09

I am the opposite - I keep having hot flushes, I think perhaps we need to get together then we'd all even out!

I've had to have the window open at work most of the week as everyone else is just keeping it so hot!

HumphreysCorner · 19/02/2009 20:16

I am frozen all the time which is completely unlike me. Mum said it is low blood sugar levels again. Have to sleep with my socks on to keep the heat in.

of all your scan dates as I won't know mine for at least another 2 weeks after I've seen the MW.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/02/2009 20:20

Ah HC, that would explain it - no low blood sugars for me, I've been stuffing my face with food every two minutes!!!

Perhaps I need to try and cut back a bit, thing is, its kind of all encompassing raging hunger all the time! I'm just not used to it at all and can't ignore it.

My MW booking in appt. is next week, apparently I have to pop to the surgery and pick some stuff up, might have to do that tomorrow thinking about it or I won't get time.... The MW normally rings through to get the scan date whilst you're in the appt so that they can get a time to suit and don't have to reorganise it. Hope I don't have to wait for three or four weeks for it though. Shame its not the same for you HC.

altagloria · 19/02/2009 20:30

HC I've not got mine either, I have a booking in appointment with my GP in ten days (I'll be 8+1) so have no idea when I'll see my midwife for the first time... though I think the midwife and scan appointments might be one and the same... it is frustrating isn't it, and the days are going so so slowly.

If anyone has seen/is seeing a midwife at Leith CTC in Edinburgh could you enlighten me as to how it works!

MrsPuddleduck · 19/02/2009 20:39

Glad its not just me stuffing my face to avoid any nausea!

Can't wait to go to GP on Monday so I can get the ball rolling with the midwive and scans etc. I think I was about 13 weeks before I had my scan last time.

OXbaby - I have never thought of going private as we cannot afford it but I have to say I have been pleased with the local hospital for my last two. DH and I are joking as to whether or not I will get the same room again next time as I was in the same room after I had DS1 and DS2! (2 c-sections first emergency second planned).

Right off to eat some type of bread product for a change! Raisin and cinnamon loaf by way of a change (well at least it has fruit!)

JellytotZ · 19/02/2009 20:40

I have been a 'fly on the wall' for the last couple of nights and today im actually going to post something! So here it is!

I got a BFP last Sunday morning which was a lovely Valentines surprise for my DP and me! Saw doctor on Tues and I am now waiting for midwife to call. My periods were previously all over the place so I am not actually sure of a date! This is driving me crazy!!!!

Had AF around 28th Nov .... then nothing that I recall until Jan 13th ...!! I am sure I would have had more symptons if conceived around Nov/Dec......but im thinking that date of conception was 28 Jan meaning i would be 4 weeks ish and due 19th Oct ish.

Symptons include reeeeeeeaalllly sensitive nipples all of the weekend prompting me to test, period like cramps in week and tiredness. Still drinking tea, no nausea ....yet!

JellytotZ · 19/02/2009 20:42

oh, and frequent trips to the toilet!

littlepea72 · 19/02/2009 20:57

Im not sure what im going to be going through this time round, im living in Germany now and have no idea when i will get my first scan. Im seeing the MW on the 3rd March for loads of blood tests ect...feeling sick now & again but not very often, in fact i dont seem to be having many smyptoms which im not liking...but man im always cold! My tummy has also escaped over the top of my jeans!

HumphreysCorner · 19/02/2009 21:16

Hello and welcome JellytotZ and big congrats to you. Wonder when your due date is. Tea, ugh-'tis making me feel sick at the thought of it.

Hello,

I found that having a couple of apples at all time in my handbag, really helped fight the hunger and nausea...the healthiest alternative which I could face last time around.

Otherwise, I keep going from really freezing to having hot flushes, I felt the same with DS1, I also had a dizzy spell yesterday.

In terms of bowel movement, you are not alone, it is not exactly regular as one would say, not improved by the fact i have to take iron supplements since I have a tendency to be anemic, and for everyone
which is not on it and might be put on it in the future, it does make some things go black. Sorry for the details, but I know I was worried about it the first time around.

On this high note, I need to go an look after DS one whom is flushing the toilet for the 100th time today...the toilet paper is the next thing...

tracyea · 19/02/2009 21:57

Hello jellytotz - welcome
I am now fantasising about fruit loaf - great!
I don't feel hungry as such I just have to eat every 2 hours, more in the evening, or else i go from ok to heaving in about 30 seconds!
DD wanted to know why I was taking a jam sandwich to the cinema the other day - films are long, what can I say!!!!
I might as well just start sticking ritz crackers on my hips and be done with it

Treats · 19/02/2009 22:37

oxbaby - I'm in SW London too! I'll be having my baby in St Thomas' and I'm quite happy with the choice. They have a private suite on site too (the Landsell) so you get the best of both worlds - a private suite but access to emergency facilities. I had the choice of St Thomas', Chelsea and Westminster and St George's. Tbh I chose St Thomas' for convenience - just easier to get to than the other two - but I also saw that it got a better review in the Healthcare Commission's review of maternity services - look here. This is my first baby so I don't really know for sure that NHS is OK, but my experiences so far have all been positive, and I think I'd prefer to save my money. Hope you make the right choice for you.

I've been having chills too! I'm all right now, but I definitely had an evening last week when I couldn't get warm no matter what I did.

Been a week since my GP appointment and haven't heard from MW yet - how long did everyone else wait?

peachespaige · 20/02/2009 08:26

Morning all.

I had my first ds at Chelsea and Westminster and found the after care appalling. Had my second ds in Queen Charlottes and it was FAB.
They have a nmidwife lead unit aswell as a labour ward and give you a wooden crib for baby and dh can stay over too in a bed in your own room! They have crochetted quilts.... so cute, I dont get out enough!
I had ds2 in 20mins of arrriving and all the mw came to visit me and told me I held the record! Until a poor lady whizzed passed me and had her lo in 3 mins . This is an
NHS hosp.

jessia · 20/02/2009 08:37

Hello, can I join you? Been in denial for well over 2 weeks now but did the test yesterday and there's no going back now!! This will be no. 3, I have 2 DDs aged 5 and 3. can't remember conception date or AF date but early Jan, so I reckon I'm about 7 weeks in.
My first symptom was feeling the cold, too, a sort of shivery, almost fluey type feeling but at first I put it down to the weather. But now I've got that aversion to all smells, especially alcohol and that windscreen spray ...

lixanismapolium · 20/02/2009 09:21

Don't remember the coldness from last time around, but I have been sitting watching TV in the evenings wrapped up in a sleeping bag!! Really glad it's not just me!

I had DD privately - but was living overseas then and maternity was included in my private health insurance. It was absolutely wonderful compared to some of the NHS stories I have heard.

However, going NHS all the way this time. Just cannot afford to consider anything other.

Saw my GP this morning and he has referred me to the hospital so I should get mw and 12 week scan appts through soon.

So tired - sitting at desk nodding off - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

theboob · 20/02/2009 09:22

welcome jessica and congratulations

sammysam · 20/02/2009 09:43

Hi everyone-I haven't managed to get on here for a few days now-I really need help-i'm so so ill i'm throwing up from 12midday til I go to bed-lost count of the number of times yesterday-must've been around 20. Can't eat or drink. So weak now. Had another migrane on weds. I don't know what to do. Had to get dp to ring and tell his mum last night so that she can take dd for the afternoon today as i just can't cope. What can I do to make me better? With dd i was only sick once in the evening-this is on a whole different scale. I'm getting worried now that i'm not only harming myself but also the baby My insides hurt so much now.

Sorry to just moan about me-congrats to all the new joiners, I hope everyone is feeling ok.

lixanismapolium · 20/02/2009 09:45

sammysam - go to the Dr. I was bad with one of my pregnancies last year and my GP gav me medication that completely stopped me from being sick. It sounds like you're at risk of dehydrating so you really do need to see someone.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 20/02/2009 09:48

sammysam, you really need to go see your gp, it sounds like hyperemesis to me and they can prescibe you anti-emetics. If you're at the point where you're feeling weakened from the throwing up, I'm sure they'll do something to help.

Have you tried nibbling crackers and just sipping tiny amounts of water? I found that tiny crumbs and little sips of water (and not cold water either as that seemed to trigger it too) helped take the edge off a bit.

The other thing is boiled sweets - they sometimes help as its quite slow but it gets the sugar in, thats what you need to try to get in to help settle the nausea.

Bless you, hope you can do something to feel better soon - but definitely go to the doctor! Phone today, don't wait till after the weekend, it would be just too miserable for you. If you can't get an appt, maybe you have a walk-in centre?

sammysam · 20/02/2009 09:48

I'm so worried about taking anything though ans=d to be honest i don't think i'm ok to get to the docs right now i'm hoping after a quite dd-less afternoon i'll feel a bit better....
was there anthing that helped you at all?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 20/02/2009 09:51

sammysam, thousands of women get prescribed anti-emetics and they are designed to help you, they are perfectly safe. The risk of you being dehydrated is far higher and far more dangerous for you baby.

If you can't get to the docs, try dry foods, not greasy, like toast with jam or crackers like I mentioned before and try tiny amounts, a quarter of a slice may make all the difference. Stick to water based drinks, like weak squash or water or watered down fruit juice (apple and splash of water is nice) abd for me, avoiding milk helped, it can be a bit rich for your tummy...HTH
