Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

littlemissbliss, i would love a dd, dh would too. however, i think the way people make it seem is that if i have another child of the same sex, i'd be disappointed. at the birth of my next child i will be anything else but disappointed whether it is a boy or a girl.

it makes me want to find out about the sex, i guess so i can prepare myself incase people say stupid things when he/she is born.

it's hard not to guess all the time anyway! does anyone have any feelings about what they're having?

peachespaige · 18/02/2009 16:25

devilesAdvocaat dp is one of four boys, does this mean its more likely that Ill have boys? Ive 2 already. Not that I mind either way.

HumphreysCorner · 18/02/2009 16:43

Welcome to the new ladies and congratulations to you all.

bubblebell1-I am very sorry to hear your news. Take care. {{xx}}

CalypsoFlame-I think your blood sugar level caused your dizziness. I am feeling dizzy alot at the moment.

lixanismapolium-great news about your internal scan.

peachespaige-snap re birthday. Bet you are not as old as me though.

Cazza28-no, you are not the only one to be still testing. I have also bought a doppler to listen to the heartbeat-am obsessed!

Having got 2 girls and dreading the 'are you hoping for a boy?' questions and when I find out at the scan at least I can put them straight and be prepared.

Love to all, must go and change DD2's nappy and get them some tea ready.

Hi everyone

Racing on here before I sit down and write a dreaded report(lenghty, dull etc). Realied I had forgotten to say thanks for all your messages re. dog - sorry...and thank you.

bluebell, I'm so sorry

babyinacorner - thanks for reassurance re cramps.I get far less when I rest.

sammysam-can you drink milk with ice in it? Its supposed to help with nausea according to a book I was flicking through today.

Welcome and congrats to littlepea72 peachespaige ,Mrs Happyand fidelma Devilsadvocaat - I'm convinved I'm having twins but only because I'm constantly starving and eating(lots) brings no relief. Feels like my body has been taken over by aliens that love food and orange juice

Finally got off my backside and rang my surgery. Seems I have to give them a urine sample which takes 2 days(!) to process so they can confirm I am pg. Then I have to book an appt with gp. Only after this can I book in with a midwife who apparently I'd see at 10wks. I explained I'm already 8 weeks and they said they'd try to rush the processing of my sample so it only takes 1 day!

Had a joint meeting with one of my publishers and some lecturers today and my trousers were really uncomfortable - the button popped off on the bus on the way . They fit 2 weeks ago. Got there early and ducked into Evans-for anyone that needs smart black trousers, they have a pair at £15, with an elasticated waist (thank you God) in size 14 upwards. I bought a pair, ducked back into the changing room and swapped over. Ohh, the relief! Just got a message saying my appts have been cancelled tomorrow so I can spend the day working from home. Cramps much worse when I'm carrying the case so I'm relieved-plus I get to have extra sleep.

welcome to the newbies and congratulations

hope all the sick are feeling well

pigletpants · 18/02/2009 20:13

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling well.

I started feeling sick this morning, but it hasn't been as bad as my other pregnancies thankfully. Still a long time to go though, I think I'm only just 4 weeks. Feels like I've known for ages, I got a positive teat a week before my period was due.

Don't even know why I tested, we weren't planning a baby. Boy did I get a shock!

doggus · 18/02/2009 21:50

Fidelma - I felt terribly sick at this stage when I had my first baby and this time around I'm fine. I guess every pregnancy is different?! Maybe I'm having a girl?

idreamofbeanie · 18/02/2009 22:25

Evening everyone,

I've had a slightly mad day today. My mum came down to visit unexpectedly which was lovely but I had my first midwife appt today and mum didn't know I was pregnant. I also found out that my DB had found a villa to book for us all to go on holiday (he and SIL came into some money and had decided to book somewhere for us all over their DCs first birthday but I'll be 36 weeks pregnant then if all goes well). I completely caved and finished up telling mum, dad and DB I am pregnant. They are soooo excited for me and it was lovely to share my news although I'm still nervous. Midwifes appt was good too and very reasurring so I just have to wait for a scan date now.

bubblebell - I'm so sorry, take care.

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 19/02/2009 10:05

Morning everyone !

Hope everyone's feeling 'OK' today. I had a brief panic last night when I felt too OK - headache gone, backache gone, nausea gone etc but the queasy is back today so maybe it was just baby giving me a little respite to have one nice evening with DP !

C'mon 12 weeeks !

Treats · 19/02/2009 12:02

Hi everyone. Still no symptoms to report. Was very tired this morning, but that was more likely to be my late night, rather than preggy tiredness. Feel OK now and beginning to plot what I might have for lunch.......

I'm finding it hard to keep eating healthily when I'm hungry all the time. Last night I was starving after work but was going on somewhere else so popped into Starbucks for a cake. Then I scoffed a couple of biscuits that were laid on later, and most of a bag of crisps when we wound up in the pub at the end of the evening. I slightly redeemed myself by having pasta with broccoli for dinner when I got home, but this baby's going to have one hell of a sweet tooth! How do other people manage to contain the hunger pangs when they're out and about all day?? The worst time for me is always when I'm on my way home from work......

doggus - that's interesting - is lack of sickness linked to having a girl? That must be what I'm having then .

Feel for you ladies having to fend off people implying that you wouldn't be happy if you had another girl or boy. As it's my first, I genuinely don't have a preference either way. Right now I'm just concerned about getting through the pregnancy and delivering a healthy......something (preferably a baby!). I'd hate it if people suggested I'd be disappointed with the outcome. Hope it doesn't get you down too much.

LittleMissBliss · 19/02/2009 12:14

Hello all,

Not much to report,

feeling fine really still tired and a bit snappy though.

My 12 week scan date arrived today! 26th March so i have something to work towards now. It said on it that i dnon't need a full bladder. Which is different from last time.

Which i must add was horendous. I lost the slip that said how much water you needed to drink i knew it was 2 something. I go it into my head that it was 2 litres (not pints)!
So i drank 2l bottle of water about an hour before i left. It took me 25 minutes to drive to hospital and on the way i had to stop at a pub because my bladder was bursting and i was in real fear of wetting myself. I then panicked and bought another 2l of water because i thought i must have an empty bladder now. I had to down the secound bottle whilst driving to the appointment only to get there and find out they were running an hour late. So i was sitting on the ward squirming like i had ants in my pants. When i finally got to the scan room they were aghast as how swollen with water my tummy was and i was allowed go to the loo (best wee ever). So embarassing On reflection i should have realised that 2l of water is an impossible amount of liquid to contain in a human for any period of time.

So i must say i'm relieved this time that i can go with a normal bladder.

Hope everyone is well, well..... as well as can be expected at this stage!

smallone · 19/02/2009 13:06

Hi everyone, I love watermelon! Its all I ate with dd and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get it this early in the year, but bought a quarter yesterday and have just eaten it in one sitting! I did a "morning-sickness" shop yesterday so my trolley was full of fruit, rich tea biscuits, breadsticks and pretzels! The hardest thing is stopping dh eating it all!

I looked at the clock at 12 today and thought "lunch" and started gagging! I hadn't even thought of a food! Watermelon sorted me out tho, and managed a couple of potato waffles too!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/02/2009 13:31

Morning everyone, I'm seven weeks today and feeling increasingly nauseous as the days go by it seems.

I'm trying to be a bit healthier today though after yesterday's mega junk food fest, so far apple juice, banana and weetabix for breakfast (don't normally have any!) and a potato bake with salad for lunch from the canteen. Oh, and I might just have sneaked in a mid-morning packet of crisps. maybe its not such a healthy day after all! At least I've had apple, banana and salad to contribute to the old five a day!

I've been having some tummy cramps today, which worries me a lot bit. I think I had them about this time last time when I lost it, although the mc didn't start until week 11, I'm fairly confident it had finished a long time before then.

I was wondering about ringing the mw to see if I could get an early scan, just to stop me worrying..as I assume I'd need a referral from her, in which case I'd need a booking in too? which isn't booked till next week...so I'm sure I'll probably just have to wait my turn - I know everyone has their worries and they can't scan us all. Would be nice though wouldn't it. If only we could see inside ourselves.

idreamofbeanie · 19/02/2009 14:09

Hi Sparkly, sorry you are feeling so worried. I think all the cramps and twinges are completely normal. It's awful having to wait until 12 weeks to have a scan (and it must be worse for you after last time) but my midwife pointed out yesterday that people used to have to wait until 20+ weeks to feel the baby kicking before they knew everything was going well which made me feel strangely better about having another 4 weeks to wait.

idreamofbeanie · 19/02/2009 14:10

Mmmm - I now have a huge craving for watermelon. I'm going out tonight but might try to stop off at the fruit shop on my way in tomorrow.

KleineMaus · 19/02/2009 14:11

Littlemissbliss - same thing happened to me with scan and full bladder. They were horrified and said I was squashing the poor baby! Very embarrassed and annoyed with my sis who told me I had to drink loads.
Finally went to the doctor yesterday. Did confess that I hadn't even actually done a test (but with 2 missed periods and sickness since 5 weeks seems like a bit of a waste of money - god how cheap am I!) Thought they might insist on doing one and had brought a urine sample, but they didn't.
DH and I were having a bit of a 'tiredness' competition last night. I was crashed out on the sofa and he on the living room floor (poor boy spent a day doing DIY with his dad after not having a great night's sleep). It turned into a bit of a stand-off with poor ds not yet in bed and neither of us willing to give in and take him (even though it was dh's turn). Surely I win everytime....

littlepea72 · 19/02/2009 14:24

Sparkly im feeling the same way, and like you i had a silent mc at 11 wks, now im getting some really weird & strange pains. Im seeing the doctor on Monday as im scared that history is repeating. Everything i can see on the internet says its normal, but like you, a scan is the only thing that will put my mind to rest. I will pass on the info i get from him!

MrsPuddleduck · 19/02/2009 14:40

Hi, sorry I haven't been back since my first posting (was only last week though).

Question - has anyone put any weight on yet or is it just me? I am eating so much at the moment that I got on the scales and have already put on 2lb in a fortnight

It could be something to do with the large amount of bread I am eating - I am absolutely starving most of the time!

HumphreysCorner · 19/02/2009 15:04

Don't worry Willmouse as in the first week after testing I put on a few pound then the sickness started and I lost it all. Have gained a couple of pound again with my bread consumption.

I was very sick with DD1 and DD2 and am the same with this one so will assume I am having another girl.

Hi everyone! My due date is 18 Oct. Still quite early in pg but morning sickness starts to occur a bit (no throw up thank god, but just zero appetite most of the morning and feeling bloated at the same time...). Anyone feel the slowed down bowel movement yet? (please tell me I'm not the only one!) We're now looking for hospitals and some private options as well - what a headache! Have you all decided which hospital to go to?

I found mumsnet when I was looking for information online but must say I'm so happy to find it and join! Hope everyone's taking good care and feeling happy(besides feeling panicking, nauseous, a bit nervous...all that and all me:P )!

MrsPuddleduck · 19/02/2009 15:30

HC - thanks. Glad its not just me. I am going to start posting back here now I feel more positive. Don't think its good to go on about symptoms etc on the other thread!

Anyone else getting Palpitations? They are vile.

HumphreysCorner · 19/02/2009 15:36

Hello and welcome oxbaby and congratulations. Once you have joined Mumsnet you will never leave-'tis very addictive. We automatically go to our local hospital which has its own maternity centre but antenatal care is with the MW on a Thursday at our GP's surgery. I very rarely go to the toilet.

Treats · 19/02/2009 15:53

Willmouse - exactly the same problem here. Just really hungry all the time. Haven't been able to face the scales yet, but definitely looking a bit pudgier than before. My DH was kind enough to point out that it's definitely NOT because I've started showing... Not palpitations, but a definite shortness of breath.

oxbaby - yup to that too . To answer your other question, I was given a choice of hospitals for an infertility referral about six months ago, and have decided to carry on with the maternity service at the one I chose then. I'm interested that you're looking into private options - what's encouraging you to think of this?

Ah but HC IS feeling sick, so thinks she must be having a girl .....

oxbaby · 19/02/2009 16:30

Treats - I know some mums here having horrendous experiences with nhs and they all encourage me to consider either go private or IM if possible. So we really would like to find out about more options and make a well-informed decision on this. Plus I myself am super worried about the pain and potential issues, we thought we could at least make other factors around the birth itself a bit more comfortable.
This is of course just our own thought. And it's been a process of endless searching for alternatives so far (I live in SW London so don't really want to go too far even for private). Have you heard of any good private/part-private options worth considering?

Thanks HumphreysCorner good to know I'm not alone in this..
