Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

Theboob- i see i did try and go on that website when i first found out i was pregnant and it just said it was unavailable, so i thought they were just updating it or something. Then i tried again last week as i was getting a few maternity things and it was working again. I don't worry too much buying on the net if you use a credit not debit card your payments are protected. i think its the same with paypal too which some website shops except.

I've gone gone a bit ott with the maternity wear this time round as last time i just wore all my normal clothes as i didn't get too big up until the last few weeks but I just lived in long line t-shirts and low waited jeans. This time i've gone for lovely isabella oliveresque wrap tops (can't afford IO but JJBBMM do some lovely ones too) I want to really enjoy this bump as i think it will be my last!

Hi, just checking in.

Had mad day at work. Big stressful meeting. Its all down to us and how much extra work we have to do etc etc. Then the bombshell drops that I'll probably have to do some business travel in the next few weeks/month or so. Im a bit worried because;

  1. I'll get really tired/stressed
  2. It involves transatlantic flight, jet lag, lots of rushing around.
  3. I don't fit in my suits
  4. I'll have to go with colleagues without them guessing I am up the duff i.e. going out for meals without drinking.
  5. I'll be about 8 weeks pregnant - is it ok to fly??

Also rushed around town at lunch trying to find something to wear at work that doesn't make me feel uncomfortable / look massive.

bubblebell1 not had your problem but if DR says you are pg then I guess you are?? Do you have symptoms? Sore boobs etc?

altagloria · 16/02/2009 19:25

halfmum pretty sure you're fine to fly until much later but it does sound a bit wearing, especially if you're sick/feeling rough.

I'd be tempted to break the news early and say I couldn't go.

If you have to go, it wouldn't do much more than really tire you out I would think.

pigletpants · 16/02/2009 19:51

I'm due end of October sometime. Was very unsure about this pregnancy, it was totally unplanned and I have two small dds, but am excited to join you all now!

doggus · 16/02/2009 20:00

Hi pigletpants and welcome.

Halfmum - I think you can fly but it doesn't sound like you want to. Maybe you should tell your boss?

Prisci · 17/02/2009 00:32

Halfmum, you can fly until you are 32weeks PG with most airlines (most will ask a doctors note from 28weeks onward). When I was PG with DD1, I was flying every 2 or 3 weeks on transatlantic flights since DH was working abroad. Having to take the Red eye back an go straight to work was completely exausting, but I would usually try to make up an excuse to go home early and pass out at 4pm until the next day. It was not exactly great but, manageable. In terms of going out, the usual excuse that you are on antibiotics usually works pretty well.
However, as doggus say if you're heart is not in it, maybe you should tell your boss. Otherwise, you could see it as one of your last time for a long time that you are flying 'freely', i.e just being able to seat down and enjoy your flight is precious once you have a child....

I am now, definitely PG, got registered with an obstetrician, got a blood test taken, and it was also positive. Quite impressed by the efficiency. I am still not quite beleiving that I am PG though.

Thank you Devils Advocate, it might not be so scary having an 18months and a newborn...well we will see. I am still not ready to stopping BF yet even though I am completely exausted.

CalypsoFlame · 17/02/2009 09:20

Congratulations to all the new postitive results in

treats - You are of course right, the midwife I'm meeting at my GP (1st appointment I'll be 11+6, seems late, no?) is from Guy's / St Thomas', but the scan 3 days later is at St Thomas'. I hope they're as nice at St T as you say they are at Guys!

halfmum Your schedule sounds completely exhausting, I hope you find a solution to cut back on the demands.

Running I had my first run yesterday since I tested positive and although it wasn't a long run, I was unsure how rigourously to stretch post-run what with all the ligament softening etc, and sure enough I'm a bit sore today, when I normally wouldn't be at all. Anyone else runnning / has run through pregnancy before?

And I'm having a total rollercoster of symptoms / non-symptoms. Fip-flopping between feeling pretty awful to feeling completely fine and not going back to feeling quite as awful. It's quite bewildering!

(7+6)

HumphreysCorner · 17/02/2009 09:24

Hello and welcome pigletpants and big congrats to you.

Halfmum-I am terrified of flying and need alcohol to get me through any flight. So, in present icky no alcohol allowed position flying would be a complete no no! Of course, you are able to fly if you are up to it.

Going to ring and make a MW appointment today-hopefully for a week on Thursday.

Hope all OK.

Morning everyone and welcome and congratulations to all the new BFP's!
Hi bubblebell-great to see you over from the TTC in 20's thread

I have my booking in apt. with the midwife at 12-it is a home visit-I had a home visit with dd as well so wasn't too shocked......though she might be-haven't really been able to face cleaning since getting my BFP

I'm absolutely knackered all the time, can't eat anything for dinner as then throw up-but do that if I haven't eaten as well! Feel very sick the rest of the time but can just about eat but as someone else said-if I have to think about any food I can't eat it.....

Really could do with buying some maternity clothes but feel it will be tempting fate so I have decided to (hopefully) leave it as a treat and celebration after the 12wk scan....

Went bridesmaid dress shopping on sat-quite scared now that if all goes well there will only be about 8wks to get myself looking decent enough to be my sis's bridesmaid I was very lucky last time and lost all the weight in the first week and was just left with the floppy belly-I think my body went into shock-not as likely this time me thinks-the dress we all decided on could look VERY bad No worries re eating at the mo but I suppose i'll just have to be a little bit consious and boring and not go crazy and eat everything in sight when i can finally eat again

Will let you all know how it goes with the midwife....

HumphreysCorner · 17/02/2009 10:16

MW appointment is on the 5th March and I will be 10 weeks exactly so hopefully she will ring up for a scan date while I am there.

Morning all and congrats to the newbies. Hoping to shake off my 'lurker' status soon as I had blood tests yesterday which came back looking good and have been booked in for a scan tomorrow morning. If there is a little heartbeat there, I will throw caution to the wind and allow myself to feel pregnant at last! This has been the longest couple of weeks of my life so far!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 17/02/2009 13:07

Lixanismapolium, for your good news and fingers crossed for a good clear scan tomorrow.

HC - I've got my booking in on 26th Feb when I'll be 8 weeks, I think they're letting me book in early so that I can try for an earlier scan after my mc at 11 weeks last year.

I still don't feel pregnant, though i have lots of symptoms... I guess I mean that I can't imagine actually ending up holding a baby after losing the last one.

Boobs are getting increasingly sore, and the nausea is starting to kick in - amazing as I'll be perfectly fine one minute, then all of a sudden I have to eat immediately! Its ok when it strikes at home but its getting increasingly awkward at work.

I work with mostly men now though so at least they're not a bunch of calorie counting obsessives like I've had in the past, there's no way I'd be able to hide my new increased appetite from a weightwatcher!!

I've got a terrible tummy, lots and lots of trapped wind and dodgy (sorry, incoming TMI) high velocity poo. Feeling a bit sorry for myself on that front!

I'm also absolutely exhausted - I'm going to have to give in and have a nap in a bit (am working from home today due to having some work done) and I'm going to take a late lunch break...as long as I don't spend it all on here!

Hope all are doing OK and not worrying too much...I'd forgotten how much this first trimester drags.

KKKKaty · 17/02/2009 13:30

Morning all

Sparkly - you were saying that you'd forgotten how much this first trimester drags - can anyone reassure me that after the first trimester time does speed up a little!? I can't believe it's only two weeks today that I found out I was pregnant - it genuinely feels like two months. I just want to get to 12 weeks and have a scan so that I can stop fretting so much. If the rest of my pregnancy goes this slowly I think I might spontaneously combust through sheer impatience!

KleineMaus · 17/02/2009 13:47

Hello everyone, esp. the newbies. Finally going to see the doctor tomorrow (am 8 wks exactly), and feeling somehow nervous.
Have just started trying to potty train ds, and am thinking now is probably not the best time, but he's 2.5 and my mum's been going on about it. He peed on my bed this morning...
Spent the whole of the evening in bed yesterday, only getting up to throw up (the first time I've actually been sick, which is something I'm practically phobic about and so have desperately been trying to avoid). DH not going to be home till really late tonight so trying to keep ds awake this afternoon so I can get him off to bed really early.

idreamofbeanie · 17/02/2009 14:11

Poor you Kleinemaus! Hope you feel better soon. I don't know how you mums are managing - I am bad enough just trying to look after myself. After a busy weekend and a long day yesterday I am exhausted, I can't wait to finish work and crawl into bed. I really don't know how I'd manage to look after a LO but I suppose if you have to you just get on with it.

KKKaty - I'm with you on the impatience thing. I can't believe I'm not quite 8 weeks yet. The next 4 are going to be so slow and I just hope time drags less once we get past that first scan.

Sparkly - hooray for booking in appointment. These first few weeks must seem even more slow and worrying for you after last time . I hope the next few weeks fly by for you! I've also got the windy tummy - if I'm not feeling nauseous my stomach is bloated and sore. This isn't quite how I pictured early pregnancy! I just keep telling myself it'll all be worth it in the end.

Congratulations bubblebell . I was on a ttc thread with you and it's great to see you over here.

Can't remember anything else . Hi to everyone and hope you're all well.

sammysam · 17/02/2009 14:49

Had booking apt with a really lovely midwife! She set my due date as 27th Sep.....but as I ov later i'm sticking to the 1st-was happy to keep it as the 27th for now as i'll have my scan a few days early
She was very supportive and encouraged me to go ahead with a home birth.....so I think that's the plan

Kleinemaus-i sympathise-I wish we had a downstairs toliet-its bot much fun having to run to the toilet in the evenings almost breaking myself on the stairs

I have a windy tummy as well-lots of trapped wind-quite painful

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 17/02/2009 14:58

Just had my booking appt with a nice midwife - huge amount of forms etc !

She was very reassuring about pregnancy having a good chance of progressing once you're at the 7+ stage - we've agreed on a LMP date right in the middle of my possible dates - given me a due date of 5 October 2009 - currently 7 weeks then but I'm hoping for a little increase in this when I have my scan in March !

Bad news is she thinks the headaches could be caffeine withdrawal and might last 4 weeks ! Serves me right for being such a latte head - should have weaned myself off gradually before I was even pregnant !!

altagloria · 17/02/2009 17:42

sammysam and sparkly with you on the trapped wind etc

I agree about the days dragging... am just 6+2, found out at 5+0 and it feels like months already!

My booking in appointment with my GP isn't for 2 weeks yet then I guess I'll get one with with the midwife but I have no idea how this stuff works

lizzie9442 · 17/02/2009 18:00

hi everyone,

Well I had my scan today and they said I am about 6 and a half weeks. The baby now has a heart that is beating which was really nice to see, but they said the bleeding is worrying as it is still there and close to the baby. They said I have to take things easy so i don't agrivate the bleed as it could make me miscarry the baby. I have been booked in for another scan in 2 weeks to see how its going. I really just want to wrap my self up in cotton wool and not move. fingers crossed and I am so worried just have to wait and see. xxxx

HumphreysCorner · 17/02/2009 18:59

lizzie9442-that is good to hear but do try and take it easy. Wonder where the bleeding is coming from.

Hi, thanks for messages re flying.

I think the only way I can do this is with obsessive planning so I don't get too knackered. I also agree with the antibiotics theory re work drinking - good idea.

Am going to see how it goes with work. Plans change so I'm going to say I can go for now and see if anything comes up last minute. Since have DS age 2.5 it will be a break in some respects! - particularly as he kicked me in the v sore boobs today!

HCorner - just wanted to say I feel your pain on flying; even at 6am I have a triple vodka or 2 valium. I even take a Coke bottle on board which is actually coke and vodka!
