Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

So who is booked in for Monday sections?
Im guessing from your post Swampy, your on the list!

Am still very of all of those knowing when they will have their new arrivals by.

Am 38+3 today & I wake up everyday thinking 'could today be the day?' Although Im hoping it all kicks off in the evening, as I still have worries about DP getting back from London to be here when it happens.

Im really craving pick 'n' mix sweets today -Where on earth can I get some from without Woolies!!!

swampster · 29/01/2009 11:17

My name is Swampster and I am being sectioned on Monday.

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 11:18

IDBI.... well done to you and freya, hope you're home soon and looking forward to seeing some pics

Mrsy, i'm the daft eejit spotty referred to who didn't even know ds was back to front, and he was big enough at 8lbs10oz with a head cirm of 37cm.

actually to be fair, i had known he was back to front but had spent weeks on my knees to turn him and as no one mentioned anything to me in the hospital i presumed i'd been wrong and he was right way around, it wasn't until dp told me what way he'd been facing that i realised!

it does make the first stages a bit slower but tbh from 5 cm to holding him in my arms took me less than 2 hours and he only took 3/4 pushes to get out. don't let the OP position be the deciding factor for a c section as it's very doable as long as you don't rush yourself and rest yourself as much as possible between contraction. most babies who are OP will trun during labour if the mother is left to it so although it'll make the first stage longer it probably wouldn't affect anything else.

as for the weight, she might decide to make and early appearance and not be much heavier than average so i'd play it by ear and remember that the scans are more guesswork than science

dd didn't want to go to playschool today and i didn't have the heart ot force her so soon to the upheaval of a new baby so we've just spent the morning painting.... they've done about 20 pictures between them, i had to pretend i's run out of paper in the end as i was running out of space to put them!

bloody heartburn is driving me bonkers, it's constant now and nothing seems to ease it.

mslucyisbeached · 29/01/2009 11:21

I've got mine on Mon as well.

Will be 39+5 by then so not a moment too soon!

Luckily lots of kind friends and neighbours have offered to help with DS - which is a blessing as he is livelier than ever.

mslucyisbeached · 29/01/2009 11:22

congrats IDBI and Freya is a lovely name as well

KT1983 · 29/01/2009 11:24

Sorry Swampster

MarkStretch · 29/01/2009 12:02

My friend just came over for a cup of tea and I ate 2 cream cakes.

Now I can feel my cellulite through my trousers.

Nice.

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 12:05

mmmmmm..... cream cakes [drools]

MarkStretch · 29/01/2009 12:05

Pink- one even had jam in that squirted out all over my hands...

MarkStretch · 29/01/2009 12:11

My friend brought her (very cute) 18month old with her who dribbled into my mobile phone, twiddled all the knobs on the washing machine and crumbled mini cheddars all over my clean floors.

I had forgotten about the things small children do.

dinkystinky · 29/01/2009 12:14

Tomorrow I shall be celebrating my maternity leave (which starts at lunchtime as have a half day's holiday to use up) by relieving our nanny so she can go and make her flight, making chocolate crispie cakes with DS in the afternoon (for his birthday present to his grand-dad), entertaining my MIL who will be arriving mid afternoon and then in the evening driving up to Nottinghamshire to my parents place for my dad's 65th birthday celebrations over the weekend. As I have absolutely no intention of giving birth in the town where my parents live, I will be crossing my legs the whole weekend until am back in London

Swampster, MsLucy, LMN - remember, lovely ELECTIVE c-sec on Monday; will be a million miles apart from your last c-sec experience. Hope you've all got nice plans for the weekend.

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 12:16

don't worry, you'll be so exhausted when your own lo is doing all that you won't care/notice

dinkystinky · 29/01/2009 12:18

MS - look on the bright side; at least the little one let you eat the nice cakes

mumoverseas · 29/01/2009 13:04

cakes.... have just been tempted and convinced DH I have a craving so he has toddled off down to cinnabon bless him.

I've officially gone on strike and become a couch potato (well at least for the weekend) I've got so fed up with DS (15) constantly asking whats for dinner and getting in my way when I'm trying to cook dinner etc (ie he keeps opening oven to check what is in there, looks over my shoulder etc etc) that last night I told him he could cook tonight. (hence my need for cakes now just in case!)
Anyway, he decided on fajitas and went off to the compound shop last night to get sour cream. This morning I asked what else he thought he might need and he eventually said steak or chicken. A couple of hours ago I asked if he needed anything else and he finally came up with peppers/onions etc and has now decided he might make chilli and tacos too! (luckily we did a supermarket shop this morning and I bought everything he might need) I'm hoping that after him planning/preparing/cooking dinner tonight he will stop bugging me in future?
watch this space....

so, back to babies, is it 3 or 4 on Monday?

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 13:13

it's 4 isn't it?

good luck with dinner..... hope there's emergancy food there for if he makes a haymes of it

dinky... don't overdo it love or all the leg crossing in the world won't keep lo on board hope mil doesn't cause too much stress.

nkweto · 29/01/2009 13:13

IDBI - congratulations, Freya is a beautiful name !

Dinkystinky - I am so excited for you starting your maternity leave tomorrow lunch time !!

Swampster, MsLucy, LMN - good luck for Monday.. I want to know when baby is coming too

laidback, mamagoose - any action ? i have no twinges... think i will definately be a mid feb mama

herb - are you still sore? try aloevera jelly.. really relieves pain

pink tulips- your nesting is truly epic.. i have errmm ..cleaned the kitchen and bathroom (including washing the floors) ..does that count..

hope everyone else is well.. i have to admit to skimming the thread, hope i have not missed anything....

herbgarden · 29/01/2009 13:39

Thanks for the Aloe Vera Jelly tips - I need them - yes I am still sore.

For the c-section ladies on Monday - remember
*Big Knickers

  • You might want those big San towels for the first 24/48 hours but don't forget that your blood loss isn't quite the same as with normal birth so after your catheter comes out and you can get your knickers back on you might also want some ahem, smaller sanitary towels otherwise it's like walking with a John Wayne stagger.
  • Get some laxatives to assist with the "motions" together with some prune juice !! *make sure all your immediate essentials are in a smaller bag which you can have on your bed so you aren't constantly stretching around.....

If i think of anything else I'll let you know !
Busy weekend Dinky - enjoy !

laidbackinengland · 29/01/2009 13:42

Hi all, and big congrats to IDBI.

I have had my baby too !! - and only 6 days overdue.

Went to bed at about 10.30pm last night, a few twinges but again, nothing special. Had a couple of weird dreams about needing a big poo and giving birth in the car we've just bought. DS2 woke me up at 2.30am because he was thirsty. All of a sudden felt a bit 'laboury'.

Ran a bath, climbed in , had 2 contractions that lasted about 30 seconds, 2 minutes apart. Then had an almighty one that stopped me in my tracks. DH came trotting in, I clmbed out, had another contraction and delivered the babies head and then DH helped me as she slithered out with the next contraction.

Wrapped her up and jumped into bed as DH called the midwives and they arrived an hour later.

She weighs 8 lb 14 and had a 37 cm head - bt fortunately I escaped with just a small 1st degree tear and no stitches.

We are going to call her Mabel Lucy... .

Will add pictures when she looks less like a tortoise !!

mslucyisbeached · 29/01/2009 13:55

laidback - that is a totally amazing story
I'm blown away!!!

dinkystinky · 29/01/2009 13:58

Wow - that is a truly amazing story Laidback. Huge congratulations on the arrival of little Mabel Lucy and big pat on the back to your DH for dealing with her delivery. Hope she's settling in well at home with her big brothers.

I'd like a labour like that please

Calico1 · 29/01/2009 14:03

OMG Laidback - that is so incredible!!! Is that a record for the quickest delivery in the world??

Big congratulations to you all. Lovely name too x

thehouseofmirth · 29/01/2009 14:04

Wow, LB huuuge congratulations! That really is the way to do it! Mabel is a fab name. Can't wait to see photos...

And congratulations to IDBI too. Freya is also a lovely name. In fact all mames so far have been good - puts a lot pressure on the rest of us to keep up the same high standards!

Saw MW today. BFC still head down which is great though head has popped out of pelvis but I guess that doesn't mean much. Only measuring 36cm at 38 weeks but they weren't concerned so I guess I shouldn't be?

I found that funky buggy board/bikey thing but don't need to get one as apparently DS has it all worked out and he will hold the baby on his lap while he sits in the buggy. Glad that's sorted then...

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 14:05

o wow laidback..... that's just fabulous

shit, i'm sobbing again now

well done to all of you, your poor dh must be in shock after that, hope he was helpful, lord knows if it had been dp i would have delivered the baby while he stood there flustering

lol at looking like a toirtoise, i was starting to think only my babies are less than photogenic for the first day or so... look forwards to seeing pics soon though.

katieblirdsnest · 29/01/2009 14:07

Blimey, that's an amazing story Laidback. I've heard some people find it traumatic having a baby very quickly but you sound completely calm and fine. Congratulations!

PinkTulips · 29/01/2009 14:08

at your ds THOM... it's great that they plan these things isn't it? apparently kung fu panda isn't allowe to sleep in our room or his room, dd has decreed he has to sleep in with her and ds
