Cocodrillo · 27/01/2009 21:24

Gah! Went for scan tonight and baby's decided to turn breech at 35 weeks! Wayward creature.

Hope MrsY is ok... and where's IDBI gone?

MarkStretch · 27/01/2009 21:32

Coco that's a bugger! What's the plan now?

I have sent MrsY a text just to let her know we're all thinking of her and hoping she's ok. Will let you all know if I hear anything.

MrsY · 27/01/2009 21:43

Hi all.

MS my phone number is transferring from T-mobile to Orange today, so I'll probably get your message some time tonight!!!

We went in at about 2:30, BP much lower than normal and trace showed her heart rate much lower than usual, but she was moving and heart rate increased after each wiggle, so they were happy with that. However, they took some blood and wanted me to wait until they had the results back, so hung around on the ante-natal ward until about 6:30, at which time we had our ante-natal group tour of the ante-natal, delivery and post-natal wards!!

Got home about ten minutes ago!!!

Registrar we saw was reluctant to discuss induction, but I'm hoping I get more luck with my consultant tomorrow.

KazzaL · 27/01/2009 21:55

Just read through the 15 pages of posts I've missed since friday whilst cooking & eating dinner!!!

Congrats to dinkymum and herbgarden on your little ones. It's def starting to feel a bit too close & real now.

Hope everyone who is having lots of pains & aches is ok......

Got through an extremely busy weekend, but the nursery is all done now except the curtains and we moved into the spare room so the plaumber could start work on the ensuite yesterday - everything ripped out yesterday and then new walls built today and electrics satrted - maybe it will be finsished before No2 arrives.

will try to keep more up-to-date on the happenings, just need to get through this week and next week, finish work, get the ensuite finished and then I can relax and think about No2 arriving......

Going to my only ante-natal class tomorrow - decided that I didn't really need to go to most of them again as it's been less than 2 years since last time, but wnated to go to "feeding" again as had terrible trouble with bf and although I kept going till DS was about 5 mths old and he got his first teeth and became a biter, he had been having top-ups from about 10 days old, which I never managed to get him off. I'm determined to crack it this time, done lots of reading about bf and will be going to my local bf support group lots.

Anyway time I was in in bed (but need to do the washing up first and hang up 2 loads of washing) - Night all

chilledmama · 27/01/2009 22:00

Cocodrillo-what a pita!! Snap on breech but this madame has been breech all the way through so kind of used to it now. Got my ECV booked for tomorrow. Clinic starts at 0930, or at least I have to be there at 0930 for the clinic.
Has it been confirmed on a scan yet?? Do you want to try the ECV?? If you want to try to turn baby yourself, the baby spinning thing seems to work well for people...I struggle a bit with it doe to my heartburn but will be redoubling efforts after tomorrow.
Wish me luck everyone!!

MrsY · 27/01/2009 22:15

coco and chilledmama what about the moxibustin (sp) or reflexology route? My MIL does reflexology, and her success rate is really high...

chilledmama · 27/01/2009 22:21

MrsY- do not fret...I have a reflexology session already booked and am waiting for outcome of ECV before I book the moxibustion. Apparently moxibustion has a very high success rate!!
Bizarrely I'm not even remotely worried about any of it. Don't get me wrong, I would much prefer that bub was head down as I am planning another HB and breech complicates that but if she is determined to keep her head in my ribs then so be it. I will labour at home as if cephalic then if midwives think that its taking to long then I will happily go to hospital.

chilledmama · 27/01/2009 22:23

Poor grammar! Should read too long...apologies!

chilledmama · 27/01/2009 22:27

Cocodrillo- just re-read a bit...you've already had scan...sorry!!
So choices...ECV, Baby spinning, moxibustion, reflexology, wait and see (do nothing).
What type of birth had you planned for/want??

You can tell I've had time to think about this ...a lot

thehouseofmirth · 27/01/2009 22:27

MrsY glad you're out but I bet you are really wishing there was a definite end in sight now.

Coco and Chilled sorry t hear about your awkward offspring! Baby Father Christmas was transverse until recently and I've got a sneaky feeling he might have gone back that way again. MW appoitment on Thursday so guess I'll find out then.

Have had a very romantic evening involving giving DH the pleasure of taking a rectal swab for my GBS test. Lucky man!

All my twinges and cramps seem to have disappeared today. Nice to have a rest from it but would still like him to come a bit early, if possible. Having said that I was looking at photos of me when I was expecting DS and I was so much bigger then, and he was only 6lbs 13oz so maybe this one needs to stay put a bit longer.

Dinkystinky I'm sure you can get away with letting DS have a bit of a break from his hectic social life while you're in sole charge. No point in going on maternity leave to end up being busiser than you would be at work!

MrsY · 27/01/2009 22:54

thom yup - especially as I'm not allowed to drive now, my mum works, John's mum lives 45 minutes away and John works 45 minutes away, so if I have to go in, it's a huge faf...

Lucky DH! Think John would draw the line at that!

swampster · 28/01/2009 00:10

If anyone fancies a giggle, go read treedelivery's birth story on the January post-natal.

Right, it really MUST be time I was in bed!

mumoverseas · 28/01/2009 05:33

morning all,
still no news from IDBI or lardy. Hope she is ok after her horrible fall a few days ago.

PT, your story ref the medical student made me giggle. Lucky you are so tolerent.

Dinky, mini eggs I sooooo miss stuff like that here. DH is going back to the UK on 3 days business in March and those are on my shopping list for him as can't get any easter related stuff out here

I clearly have baby brain this morning and can't remember everything I was going to say so I shall just do an oscar type speech and say hello to everyone who knows me and I hope all the naughty breach babies turn, those of you with BP have calm days and it lowers and all of us suffering with blardy SPD have less aches and pains today.
Mine is particularly bad today after an incident in the bathroom last night. DH had bathed DD and I went in afterwards not realising that there was water ALL over the floor and ended up slipping and doing the splits sideways. Have to say I think that is probably the furthest apart my thighs have been since around last June In agony today and might have to try to get to medical centre.

So who will be next to pop?

littlesez · 28/01/2009 06:18

Up early again, actually sleeping lots better but past 2 nights woke up and half 4 and my mind is racing at the mo so couldn't get back off. BUT still sleeping better than recently as we finally bought some curtains! what a difference slept for 11 hours on sunday night! (how did i not pee myself in my sleep?)

Ok just total nosyness but does anyone else have braxton hicks at certain times? I have them mostly after a wee and then after any kind of exercise (ermm by exercise this includes walking up the stairs at the moment!)

Also hip pain is weird too I have it after walking OR after sitting for too long.Anyone else it actually takes my breathe away to stand up but then it really eases off after a bit and have no bother getting up If I have been lying down WEIRD. Still manange body balance 2x a week without any problem

Well i am 37 + 3 today only have to get to Sunday then I am officially allowed my home birth. Although the midwife said if its fri or sat to ring and ask. I really feel she will be "late" as my original due date was 3rd March. To be honest that date has stuck with me ever since so god help me if she comes soon coz i aint ready!

I have been officially off on mat leave since 19th Dec, ok had a nice 2 week break for xmas like every year this is usually my only time off for the year. Then I realise that actually been doing quite a lot in January. You see I have my own dance school and I have come to see that I AM IT, theres just me to run it, even though i have teachers and volunteers. I have been to work 3x this week and I am exhausted(mentally) its such a head fuck, so going in on Saturday to tell them that I am handing over to the committee for good and they can employ me as a teacher in the future. Long story but basically before xmas i was getting part time pay for full time fucking stress and hours, I would prefer to just get paid part time pay for part time hours and doing what I love DANCING and teaching. And can be a SAHM with just a few hours a week out at work when I am ready.

wow look how long my post was! sorry to ramble, PS can we put birth stories on facebook group so they are all together, I love reading them xxxxx oh oh and photos xxx

MrsY · 28/01/2009 06:26

Oooh - mumoverseas that doesn't sound good at all. Have a restful morning if you can and try and get to the medical centre for a quick check up.

swampy thanks for the link - I needed a giggle after 4 hours of restless tossing and turning and worrying...

Think I will fall asleep in my consultant appointment and miss vital info!

MrsY · 28/01/2009 06:31

littlesez it's weird that you have to get to Sunday - I was told I could HB as soon as I got to 37 weeks... Work sounds like a real PITA, and I'm not surprised you want to get it sorted on Saturday. Yay for the curtains and the sleeping - but I'm having this early morning thing too and I don't get it - should we not be stockpiling sleep atm, in preparation for sleeping two minutes out of 24 hours?

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 08:19

Morning all

IME, I sleep better AFTER the baby is here than now....I haven't had anything longer than 2 hours at a stretch for ages now.....most newborns are very sleepy for a few days and do 3-4 hours and the sleep you get then is of a much better quality as you don't get heartburn / wake up when you turn over / need a wee all the time. When DD was a week old, she went 6 hours one night and I paniced and woke her up....my MW told me then "never wake a sleeping baby....if they are hungry, they will let you know"....advice I intend to follow this time (fingers crossed).

Hope consultant appointment goes well MrsY.

LittleSez....makes sense about work...I also do a full time job in 30 hours a week.....and am still doing odds and sods from home and getting phone calls / e-mails etc. DD is at nursery today, so today is my last child free day and I intend to clear some work so I can fully relax for the new arrival next week.

MOS....hope you're not too sore....should get checked out......on my first wedding anniversary, we went to the Conrad Hotel in Brussels....a huge suite with marble bathroom etc.....I got out of the bath and slipped across the floor and nearly knocked myself out on the marble His 'n' hers sinks....we'd only been there a couple of hours

Really beginning to get concerned about next week now....not the CS or the baby, but how DD is going to be with me here (fine, I know!) and how she is going to have to share my attention.....bloody hormones!

McDreamy · 28/01/2009 08:26

Morning all! No more new babies , c'mon ladies

Didn't have a great nights sleep as DD woke in the middle of the night with an "itchy bottom" - yes we have threadworms visiting the McDreamy household

Anyway she didn't get alot of sleep last night so she's off school today. Tried to call DH to see whether I have to go to the Dr's or if I can buy medication across the counter and I can't get hold of him - bloody good job I'm not in labour!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day and please could someone go into labour?

lardybump · 28/01/2009 08:27

Morning ladies. I really dont have time to catch up but just wanted to pop on to say I am fine. Labour started on Sunday night, went into hospital on Monday and they kept me in as only 36 weeks and the contractions were getting stronger and showed on the trace. However all stopped last night and they have let me out. Baby ok they put it down to my fall so need to take it easy....

Hope all are ok and that I havent missed too much news...

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 08:30

OMG...just read that birthstory....luckily, I don't seem to suffer constipation during pregnancy.

Poor DD McDreamy.....hope you get hold of DH....will you have to medicate as well?

My DH told me to ring him when the hospital has made decisions with me yesterday, and to discuss who was going to pick DD up, and he was in a place with no signal....so just as well they didn't keep me in / decide to deliver

McDreamy · 28/01/2009 08:34

Doesn't look like it. According to patient.co.uk hygiene is preferable in pregnancy.

LMN - oh that could have been awkward if they decided to keep you in.

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 08:45

but men don't think of things like that, do they?

My DD has picked this week to develop and snotty nose and cough....just enough time for us both to catch it and have a baby in the house that is too young for calpol....typical timing isn't it....but one of those things when you have older children that I'm going to get used to I expect. Have spent the last 20 months catching more colds and bugs from her, than we've had in the past 20 years!!

littleboyblue · 28/01/2009 09:01

Good morning.
Re baby names, ds had his name about 2 months before he was born and this one has been called Luke pretty much since scan too, but I haven't had a nickname for this one whilst pg like I did with ds so maybe that'll make it diffrent.
MrsY Glad you ok. Good luck with consultant today. I'm a big fan of crying to get my own way, bit childish I know but I always do it and it normally never fails. Hope they give you some good news
MoS Hope you ok after your slip in the bathroom.

Super paranoid me did end up at the hospital last night. I got some bad cramping again late afternoon, spent hours worrying about it and decided it'd be better to get checked so that I could relax if nothing. Was hooked up to the monitor and everything was fine, baby heartrate was fine and no contractions just some tightenings so they told me to go home and have a bath but to go back if pain got worse. Funny how it does get worse the minute you walk out those doors isn't it? Anyway, glad we went though. I'm under strict instruction from dp to have a pyjama day today so me and ds are just lounging around with the telly on....Might clean the kitchen in a bit, but might not
Hope everyone else ok

dinkystinky · 28/01/2009 09:06

Morning all - apologies in advance for mega catch up post.

Swampy - that story has set me up for the morning - love it! One of my friends who I saw at the weekend has a 4 month old DS - she was in what she thought was early labour at home with her DH and mum (there to babysit her 2 year old DD) until her mum told her she smelt like a woman in labour (whatever that smells like) and should go to the delivery suite (turns out her mum was right; she got there ready to drop). Now I know that the smell of labouring woman is the smell of a lady about to go poo-tastic...

Lardy - sending you big hugs hon. Sorry you went into early labour and it stopped (I know you are keen to deliver the baby as soon as possible given all the pain you're in) - it sounds like your little one is definitely about to come in your direction one way or another, so take it really easy and get as much rest as you can.

MoS - ouch! Really hope you havent done yourself any serious injury - can you get it checked out by your doctor at your next appointment to make sure everything is ok? And did you get to speak with that physio? I think you have my yahoo email address - if you run out after your DH's trip to the UK and you'd like me to post you a consignment of mini eggs and cadburys creme eggs (not really my cup of tea) just email me your address and will more than happily send you some.

Coco - pesky little baby! Definitely try out the spinning babies website (still plenty of time and space to move bubs around) and Chilled sounds like the expert on all forms of encouraging a breach baby to turn so follow any of her advice if you're wanting this bubs to turn. Chilled - is great that your midwives are so supportive about home breech delivery; it seems to be very much a lost skill in midwifery.

LittleSez - definitely read work the riot act; that is really taking the biscuit! Hope you get everything sorted and can chill out and take things easy. And re braxton hicks - I get them if I overdo things (too much exercise/walking around etc) or dont drink enough water. LMN - hope you get the last of your work stuff sorted today too.

KazzaL - wow, you're a quick worker - as are your builders! Hope the move to the spare room wasnt too fraught and your DH is letting you have your share of bed and duvet...

McDreamy - sorry to hear about the invasion of the threadworms, hope it gets sorted out quickly. Is one thing after another in your house at the moment. Are you over your nasty cold? And how is the new floor - worth all the hassle I hope. My DH has a tendency to disappear into meetings/forget his phone and blackberry on a frequent basis - suspect when I do eventually go into labour will have to contact him via smoke signals...

MrsY - glad you're ok (was quite worried as that vision disturbance sounded really scary) and little one is ok. Best of luck with your consultant appointment to find out about next steps - hope your consultant is more help than Markstretch and Pempe's.

THOM - my goodness, how romantic... Yes, I rather suspect DS's activities will be rather curtailed for the 2 weeks I have him on my own (though I'm as bad as DS for going stir crazy if I have to spend too much time indoors) - may need to arrange lots of play dates with neighbours and their kids to keep him entertained...

LBB - was thinking you'd been quiet! Hope you have a nice quiet day today at home with DS.

LMN - DS developed that cold and cough thing - he is now into the post cold coughing all night stage which I'm hoping he kicks before his little brother arrives as otherwise I will be getting no sleep at all between the 2 of them. My chemist said that at 3 they could start taking infant echinacea - given DS gets a cold every 4 weeks on average am seriously considering it come April...

mumoverseas · 28/01/2009 09:35

lardy - yay, glad to see you are ok (as far as can be expected in the circs) was a bit worried that you'd done yourself some real damage after your fall. A bit scary about the early labour but at least its stopped now. How is your DD after her fall, is she ok now?

Mrs y, hope all goes ok at your consultants appointment. Lets hope you have one of the decent ones

LBB, enjoy your PJ day. I long for one of those, hopefully tomorrow (our saturday)

LMN, I'm sure your DD will be absolutely fine when LO arrives. Can't remember how old she is? Mine is 2.3 and seems to understand about the baby. I've been worried as I know I'll be in hospital 4/5 days and wasn't sure how she'd be. Its usually me that settles her down to sleep at night but the last few weeks DH has been spending a lot more time with her and I've slept in the spare/eldest DD's bedroom as she is in the UK and DD has seemed to accept that and cuddled up to daddy before bed. I've tried explaining that mummy will be going into hospital to get her baby brother and I think she understands. One of the fab ladies at the nursery is going to take her home after nursery finishes on D day and she has made a point of spending more time with her at the nursery at story time etc and DD often talks about Linda and hopefully will be ok. Like you say, the main worry will be making sure you get enough time with the older ones when home with baby so they don't feel left out.
Have you bought DD a pressie from baby? We've got DD a litle (boy!) doll with a nappy and bottle etc.

Dinky, thank you so much for the offer of eggs but don't think you'd get them smuggled out here in the post. At the best of the time post from the UK takes up to 6 weeks and sometimes it just doesn't arrive. Sometimes things get opened by customs and I suspect any yummy eggs would be confiscated/eated by nasty customs man.
Just thought DD is flying out for a visit in a few weeks, might see if she would be willing to spend some of her pocket money on some mini eggs for me?

right, off to rest again. Didn't make it as far as the medical centre this morning as I forgot I'd booked a facial but am just going to have some lunch and then phone the physio and try to see her over the next few days.
It has suddenly dawned on me that I've been willing this baby out for weeks but between now and DD I only have 3 mornings to myself when DD is at nursery and one of those I have a hospital appt! aagghh! must do some CPD! (they lawyers amongst us will understand!)
