Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 23/01/2009 12:06

Pluto, Tink and I go dotty over shortbread and if it?s got chocolate in it all the better!

Thanks IDBI. I found the difference between a Crash Section and an Emergency Section amazing, I was so traumatised by the Crash but the Emergency Section was a lot slower and we had time to discuss it and for me to understand what was happening. I think an elective would be even calmer and be a lot better.

MrsY maybe you were stressed about what the number would be and then when

I?m starving but can?t get around to eating with a baby in my dressing gown, it sounds like far too much effort!

KazzaL · 23/01/2009 12:09

good tip dinky, but hasn't worked, just took all the previoous layers of emulsion off instead - going to finish of my cuppa before getting the sander out, but i might try sugarsoap first.

KazzaL · 23/01/2009 12:11

mcdreamy i always have that on my potential lakeland order fillers, but always find enough other things to buy to get my free gift - i love lakeland

Calico1 · 23/01/2009 13:32

KazzaL - your DH's comment mades me laugh. When I was 8 months pregnant with DS and we were doing the nursery, DH suggested that I could paint the skirting boards as he said 'you could do it lying down'. I told him where to stick his paint brush.....

McDreamy - in sympathy with you on the snottiness and cough as all of us here woke up with the lurgy this morning. Ds is being particularly cranky today - poor love.

nkweto · 23/01/2009 14:02

hello,

39 weeks today..

Laidback - Happy Due Date ! any sign of action ???

MamaGoose - No sign of action here either, I have resigned myself to going overdue, then if LO is on time or early it will
be a nice surprise

Has anyone heard from Pempe ?

but somehow don't think LO is coming in the next week ! So much so that my hospital bag is not
even packed (though we have everything we need in the house..)

Sounds likes lots and lots of nesting is happening, i seem to be nesting in spurts which can result in the flat
looking worse (though cleaner) than when we started !

Like many others when DS is not in nursery, he is watching far to much cbeebies (pre recorded or via iPlayer he only likes
some of the programmes!), starting to worry me, but I don't have the
energy to deal with it the moment.

Mrsy - hope your blood pressure is comming down, sounds very stressfull to be in and out of the DAU. If you had
to be induced, when would they do it do you think ?
just seen you are back to the DAU.. thinking of you

Herbgarden - we have had very similar DS haircutting experiences, though my DH does the cutting ..he just wails and clings
on to my hand, very traumatic for all concerned, but has to be done every so often otherwise it is the morning tears
of combing through the 'fro !

Catstar - Glad to hear that DD is feeling better, that sounds really painful... also hope you enjoyed your take out last night
.. sounded great

LittleMissNorty- hope your BP is settling down, cannot imagine driving right now !

Dinky - well done on the blinds ! are you packing your hospital bag tonight ? Just one week to go till maternity leave,
you have done amazingly because as far as I can tell, you have not done any days working from home.
Hope your cough goes soon and a little duvet trick.. twist the duve around your leg or arm as you go to sleep.. then when DH
tries to steal duvet, your body will provide some resistance.. !

LBB - good luck with your doctors appointment, hope all goes well. I cant turn over in bed without a an inbetween sit up
stage either !

Swampster - can you tell me about your lovely hairdresser ? Does S/he travel around london ???

Swampy/Dinky not sure if i should confess this but - my Aunts had me in an African version of a belly bandit as soon as I got home after DS 1.. basicaly they got
a couple of sarongs wrapped the wide section around my stomach and pulled REALLY tight and then I toddled about like
a really bad geisha for a couple of days.. until they were satisfied that my tummy had retreated enough ! I didnt
have the strength to fight them off to be honest.. and it seemed to work.

Markstretch - I am on day 5 of maternity leave.. and am already in need of adult conversation during the day. I really feel
for you having to deal with DH night shifts.

MOS - very envious of the Barbie plan... i would love some real sun and heat !

KT - dont be surprised that you feeling emotional, you have done amazingly moving settling into a new environment etc. We moved
when I was 6 months pregnant with DS..and that was pretty fraught! you sound like you are coping really, really well. Chocolate
muffins sound lovely

LMN, Mrsy - during my first pregancy, I had a couple of pregnancy massages for headaches and they really did the trick.

Kazzal - Men... my DH has expected a few jobs to be done this week.. he has stopped asking now !

Idontbelieveit - well done on the tax return, good luck for Monday, it will be fine. I for one, have to confess to being
a little envious..

Pluto - can I have some chocolate shortbread ???

McDreamy - can you just go back to bed ? Are you looking after LO's? Hope you feel better too Calico

Ok this is now a monster post.. I will return to 'lurker' status now

Pempe · 23/01/2009 14:04

Hello everybody. Sorry to have gotten hopes up for a FabFeb baby, but it aint happening for me. I'm not even in Athens - my gyno called again and said "actually, don't bother coming to Athens yet, you have an appointment on Monday, so let's just stick with that. What you saw is perfectly normal for the 9th month". So I'm still at home.

The reason for no posts is that my internet was cut due to stupid workmen cutting the main telephone line for the whole village whilst installing sewerage mains (yes, we are that far behind here).

I have tried to skim read the posts but man you lot can talk - Let's see - I would like to join the official now i'm bored club, I really thought things were kicking off and almost feel cheated that nothing has happened.... I am also angry at the lack of support I'm getting out here - I feel completely in the dark as to what is happening with my baby, how far his head is engaged, what it all means etc. I think you guys are lucky to have the MW system in the UK.

Looks like we're all still hanging in there - now that lovely internet is back I can keep up to date with you all.

mumoverseas · 23/01/2009 14:17

hello all, back from BBQ which was very nice although my fanjo is killing me after a few hours sitting on a wooden bench. DD had a lovely time on the bouncy castle and the food was good although a bit suspicious about what some of the sausages were made of (there is a camel souk just up the road from our compound )had yummy pavlova for pudding though so that was nice.

Glad all ok with you Pempe, think we were all expecting a birth announcement. Seems you have the same workmen in Greece as we do in Saudi. They are forever cutting cables/water mains etc (also a lack of midwives here too so we should form our own little club regarding that)

Well done all those who have finalised their tax returns. We've finally just completed our USA one which is a relief.

dinkystinky · 23/01/2009 14:33

MoS - am chuckling away at the idea of camel bangers!

Pempe - glad all ok with you (and you were saved a wasted 5 hour trip to Athens). Hopefully your consultant will enlighten you more on Monday re baby's position - if is any consolation I only got told (and only because I asked) at my last midwife appointment 2 weeks ago what position my baby is in (and have seen a different midwife, mostly students, every time - fortunately am having v plain vanilla pregnancy so not an issue, not so sure I'd be impressed if I actually had concerns about anything though).

Nkweto - lovely to see you on the thread and happy 39 weeks today! Thanks for the duvet trick - will be trying that one out tonight. Think DH has got far too used to having an entire double duvet to himself.... Most amusing that you got belly bandit-ed; maybe you'll need to get THOM over to help fight off the belly bandage bandits this time round

dinkystinky · 23/01/2009 14:35

And yup, packing hospital bag and washing down car seat to bring baby home in is tonight's task (particularly as poor DH just called to say has to work late due to an emergency at work due to stupid client). What a wild and crazy way to spend a Friday night

pluto · 23/01/2009 14:42

Just went to biscuit tin to find you lot had all eaten the shortbread I'm sure I only had one biscuit...

My good friend has been over with her 3 boys One aged 5 (off school with conjunctivitus), a 2 year old and a 11 month old. She put up the cot she's had on loan from DS and I kept an eye on all the little ones. I don't know what shock was bigger - discovering I have a monster sized baby growing in me this morning, or being reminded what it's like to have a toddler. DS is 9 and I can reason with him (usually).

TMI alert ...IDBI - I am with you completely on the elective CS front. DS was born under terrifying crash CS circumstances and I didn't see him for 24 hours. I lost lots of blood, it took me a long time to recover and I think I suffereed from post traumatic stress. I think that might be why we didn't conceive for so many years. VBAC would be cathartic but not if it ends in tearing, a distressed baby and an emergency CS anyway.

Pempe · 23/01/2009 14:51

also, have been persuaded to go out for dinner tonight with a group of girl friends, and I'm being picked up at 8.50....table's booked for 9! Is it me in my nesting/running out of quiet evenings/exhausted phase that thinks that's late?!? I normally go to bed and read at about 9.30

KazzaL · 23/01/2009 15:00

Pempe - yes, it's too late for me too by then, i'd either be asleep in bed or on the sofa by then usually (but I was like that b4 i was pg too)

I think tonight maybe a late one though as I'm only halfwy through the first coat of wall paint and then the window frame & the skirting boards really need glossing as well - eek, it's 3 o'clock already, where has the day gone

dinkystinky · 23/01/2009 15:04

Pempe - have an afternoon nap and you'll be fine.

KazzaL - you've been painting during the day time; its your DH's turn when he gets in...

KazzaL · 23/01/2009 15:25

i know, but he's not very good at it - my sis & I were brought up by our mum, so if we wanted our rooms doing we had to do it ourselves.....DH had a dad who was great at all that DIY stuff and he managed to reach adult hood without paying any attention to how things got done at home. his top painting tip is to put the first coat on thick enough so you don't have to do a second - maybe I'm the perfectionist in our household

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 23/01/2009 15:52

Pluto an elective and even an emergency section are so much less stressful than a Crash. I was terrified about having a section (they didn't want me to labour on my scar) because of how the first one went. I saw two options an epidural would put my back at risk and a GA would put my mental health at risk. I did have a GA because they couldn't get the needle in with the pain I was in but because it was a process and things were explained to me I felt great after and still do. I'd even go as far as to say my Birth Trauma isn't as bad in the last three weeks.

Please all have a look in AIBU at my thread (18 days) so I don't have to rewrite it here and for some opinions.

laidbackinengland · 23/01/2009 16:01

KazzaL - make sure you leave plenty of work for your DH to do , otherwise he will never learn !

Nkweto, no sign of baby yet. You may all get very bored of how overdue I go....16 days last time.

MrsY hope your BP is behaving. Good to keep that baby in another couple of weeks.

Vis a vis belly bandits .... I bought these last time and they were great.

big sexy pants

Questionkid · 23/01/2009 16:57

Just popping in to mark the thread. Hope the high BP ladies are ok and hanging in there? It's a worry isn't it? I would say though that being monitored so closely is a good thing, at least you know that if anything serious starts to happen you'll be dealt with really quickly. Am keeping fingers crossed that everyone gets the births they want to.

I'm getting to the paranoid phase - went to the cinema at lunchtime today with a fellow pregnant friend (oh the luxury of daytime trips to the cinema - I'm enjoying it while I can!) and convinced myself about halfway through I was in labour because I had such aches in my lower back and upper legs. Turns out the pains were relieved by shifting position. Silly me.

My carpal tunnel syndrome is getting worse too - such a horrible feeling.

More babies please!

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 23/01/2009 17:49

I've just had some bad news, have a look at my AIBU thread so I don't have to repeat everything.

littlesez · 23/01/2009 17:56

I have finished my paddy re congestion now! persisted with beconase and steam inhilation so think its helping. Im not bored yet think i may be the only one and i have been off since 19th december! I have been keeping myself very busy though. I just love being off work, ever since i found i was pregnant i actually HATED work and cried at the thought of going in!

I am off work in a way as in I am not physically there coaching but still get emails/calls/texts/facebooked re work a lot and going in tomorrow to try to explain that I am on maternity leave and at 37 weeks only a matter of time before i wont give a shit about work as i will have a my first newborn baby! pretty sure everyone else will be ignored

I do think i will go overdue too as my dates were from LMP 3rd March but from scan 15th feb so think it is more likely to be in between rather than before. She is comfy where she is and head not engaged yet but not sure what theat actually means ?

I have just been for pizza and so as that takes a slight bit of effort i am now ready for a snooze! Very much enjoying my mat leave now as next time i will have other children to think about, whereas now i can just stay in my PJ's and eat chocolate (asda extra special organic dark chocolate with orange inclusions) oh yes

MarkStretch · 23/01/2009 18:06

Hello all

I need advice.

I went to the midwife this afternoon, she took my BP which was up and said if it remains up when she sees me again Monday then she will speak to the consultant and see if they can move my CS forward.

She said baby was firmly head down and not back to back but in a good position for birth. Then she said 'best you go home for some rumpy pumpy to get things going!'

So, I, erm, took her advice and that kicked off 3 hrs of tightenings. I went for a walk and tightenings were coming every 3 or 4 mins or so. Came home, had a bath and they went off but they've come back now.

I think they are BH but they are regular, start down low like a vice like grip and move upwards. My fanjo hurts to sit down.

What do you all think? No waters leaking or show.

swampster · 23/01/2009 18:12

MarkStretch is having a baby, MarkStretch is having a baby!!!

MarkStretch · 23/01/2009 18:15

I don't think I am, it's surely just BH, but my back and hips are klling me now. DH has gone to work.

I can't remember what contractions feel like?!

littleboyblue · 23/01/2009 18:15

MS If they are coming regularly, I'd give the labourward a ring, although BH can be very close to the real thing, they won't come reg.

idontbelieveit · 23/01/2009 18:16

ooooooohhhhh! very excited now, start a live labour thread MS!

MarkStretch · 23/01/2009 18:17

God I hate the phrase 'rumpy pumpy'

It makes me think of dogs dry humping people's legs.
