Oh and 4d scan booked for 9th Feb!!!

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 21:06

detsy that's great that dd fancied eating a little today and so cute about her shoes

I've not been looking at double buggies as I'm hoping that as ds will be 2yrs 9 months we'll get by with the bugaboo and a buggy board or swiss strolli bike attachment. Just done a web search to look at the icandy pear and it looks great. If ds was a little younger I would be seriously tempted! but as it only lasts until dc is 3yrs i'd only get to use it with him & #2 for 3 months... oh well.

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 21:12

oooo exciting not long till 4d scan then.

detsy · 31/01/2009 21:28

Hi Fi no not long till 4d scan! Am very excited to see sproglet no 2

I agree with you about the buggy - your DS is a year older than my DD who will only be 18 months in May. I was hoping to manage with board or bike attachment but think she will still be too little. And a new pram to go in the pram collection, well that is too exciting to miss

Really must get my Quinny on ebay PDQ

llareggub · 31/01/2009 22:01

detsy have you found a buggy board or similar that will fit onto the Quinny? Hope your DD gets better soon.

Good grief - so many topics of conversation running here!
I thought the HR lady's comments are ignorant. just because we're pregnant doesn't give us the freedom to eat what we want. There are so many foods that we're either not permitted and desire (eg cheeses and pate - Oh and don't forget about runny eggs or rare steaks!!), and those foods we cannot tolerate, the nausea and MS and then the stuffed feeling at the end stages! ANd the thoughts that whatever we do now we will have to somehow try to shift it all afterwards! How the hell do you get to the gym with a baby on your tit!!?

I think I'm gonna go with an OIOI change bag!!! I hve been looking for a good few nights now and htere are so many cool ones - Yummy Mummy are fab too!!! Might leave getting one until April - or March for my birthday (40th!!!) Is anyone getting their hospital bags sorted out now??? Am I being too relaxed by not worrying about it yet?

My ankles are now swollen in the evenings and last night I had to take off my engagement and wedding rings, and my mums engagement ring too - all too tight. I had my MW appt last Monday and have only put on 4Kg, which I thought was OK.

Very sore now at pubic bone. Walking and rolling in bed are now getting progressively more painful... boo hoo! Did wear my belt from last time - makes going to the loo a real mission as I need to ensure I arrive there with enough time to get out of the thing!!

SOmeone also talking about their DC's going to bed - my 6yr old too is now playing up at night. Is 8pm too early for a 6 yr old to be asleep for?? I usually try to get him upstairs around 7:30, lights out at 8pm, but there are nights he is still awake at 9:30!! He used to be so so good at going to bed, staying htere and settling to sleep. I am worried that he is somehow reverting/regressing to a babier stage and looking for more attention. Sticker chart out again - will see how it goes.

Didn;t get my Magners the other night. DH away to pub again for his one pint. I asked him how I could get him to rememeber to bring me a bottle home... so... I flashed my boobs at him!! Wonder will it work!! He didn't seem too impressed! !!!

divedaisy · 31/01/2009 22:06

Oh when are we meant to start drinking raspberry tea???

llareggub · 31/01/2009 22:12

Raspberry tea? I've no idea....I couldn't face it last time and I guess it won't help my c-section! Isn't it weird that we are rapidly coming up to the 3rd trimester? I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone.

Sod the hospital bag, I'm more concerned with planning the FEAST of currently banned food that I will have when I'm out of hospital. I think what I really, really want are scones with clotted cream and jam, followed by chocolate and pineapple juice. Drool.....

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:18

rasberry leaf tablets are available and apparently more effective.... than drinking loads of the tea I bought a big bottle of them last time when pregnant with DS but my midwife said to hold off taking them till i got to 38wks. In the end I was in hospital at 38wks having the emcs so ended up giving them to a friend as they were unopened and no chance of me needing them before they expired.

pulapula · 31/01/2009 22:18

Divedaisy,

Don't know about 6 year olds but my 4 year old DD goes to bed at 7 (at same time as 18mo DS as they share a room, and she is always asleep first lol). My nearly 6 year old nephew goes to bed around 7.30 or 8 on a school night.

As for raspberry leaf tea, best not to start before 35 or 36 weeks. I took raspberry leaf capsules with DD.

Momino · 31/01/2009 22:18

all,
should I look into Hypnobirthing? I desperately need to relax and think maybe this can help. will look into the ones you're talking about with Maggie Howell.

Jael, please don't apologise. we all want you to feel better about this next birth and hoping your anxiety lessens.

Grumpy, our BC, george, doesn't eat too much - twice a day - but has so much energy. Maybe because we skimp on his walks . DH took him out for a long walk/runaround at midday and we usually do a shorter walk in the evening but neither of us could be bothered tonight. poor pup. i do feel guilty but he seems happy at the moment laying by the fire. We should really find him a flock of sheep.

detsy, hope your dd is better.

heartburn is really bad today. You know what's strange? water, plain water, gives me heartburn. how is that possible ? I've resorted to mint chewing gum for help. In a moment, I'm going to test chocolate ice cream to see if that goes down ok . I've really been into choc ice cream lately.

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:20

llare i'm with you on the hospital bag... but should prob do it earlier than last time... I was planning a home birth with DS so only packed the case the day before 38wks as a just incase and if not needed then at least everything would be in the one easy to find place. Oh boy was i relieved had when i was rushed off in an ambulance the day after!

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:29

divedaisy sorry no idea on 6yr old bedtimes but after a quick google this site says...

  • Ensure that your 6-year-old child gets adequate sleep. For children 6-10 years of age, the suggested bedtime is 8-9 p.m.
llareggub · 31/01/2009 22:29

Oh I really, really put a lot of thought into my hospital bag last time and it was HUGE. This time I will remember that DH will be coming in everyday and he can bring me clean clothes, newspapers and anything else I fancy. Poor thing, last time I sent him out to buy more maternity towels because I'd taken the list at face value and just bought one pack. Trouble is, he bought pads without wings and had to face my hormonal rant. Why wings were so important to me I'll never know.

Note: if you are a first time mother-to-be, buy more maternity pads than you think you'll need. You will need them!

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:30

so your bedtime seems the norm...

bekkaboo · 31/01/2009 22:31

Hi Ladies how are we all tonight?

My ankles are fat and white and ache!

On a better note after chatting last night I feel a lot more relaxed about it all this time (at least today I do) Dont know about anyone else but I cant wait to have her now!! Im directing all my negative thoughts into exciting thoughts of meeting her and all the shopping in the meantime, today ive spent a fortune!

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:35

bekkaboo my secret stash of girly clothes is starting to overflow luckily most of it was from ebay and at a fraction of the full prices but I have to admit not everything has arrived yet and i'm still browsing the net for more. I can see having a girl will be very dangerous for our cash flo

detsy · 31/01/2009 22:36

Hospital bags???? Nah no way not yet - good to be relaxed about this for now I think (tho we are almost in last leg of it ) Anyway I had tons of stuff in mine that I didn't want or use so will be being much more practical this time!

llaregub ithink there is a board esp for the quinny - i don't have one but think i have seen them in mothercare. I have the buzz, the carrycot, parasol, raincover - I need to keep my maxi cosi seat, but will be selling the adaptors

momimoooo def look into hypno, is lovely and relaxing. I used to listen to mine in the bath - need to charge up my ipod and get it on the go again. I think the birthing one is from 30 weeks?

Yeah - raspberry leaf pills - I had them, am pretty rubbish at pill taking tho. This time i'm going homeo and taking something similar from 30 weeks instead.

detsy · 31/01/2009 22:39

daisy hope your boob trick works for your magners!!

bekkaboo · 31/01/2009 22:42

Fikelly snap, we have lots too but again most of it was half price in Next & marks sale so its all a must have, its very hard with girls as everywhere I go there is pretty pink things where with DS all his stuff was Next & Mothercare.

So come spill.... How many first size (upto 10lb) baby grows do you have? As I think ive gone over top after having only 0-3 with DS and none of them fit him being under 7lbs born.

llareggub · 31/01/2009 22:43

Thanks detsy I'll have a look in Mothercare. I dug out the carrycot yesterday and couldn't believe that DS used to fit inside it. I have it in the wagtail colours, which meant that poor DS was often mistaken for a DD!

FiKelly · 31/01/2009 22:47

ooo i'm not sure how many i've bought! DS was 7lbs exactly when born so half expecting they'll get used at least for a while... i'll do a quick count on my ebay won back in a sec...
