great title RRay! Lets see if we can get those babies moving!

hkz · 19/01/2009 16:03

Dog- Glad you got that baby moving! I think my baby is determined to stay put, so will keep you company til the end of the month! I was born on my sister's birthday and she wasn't very impressed when we were younger, but the older we got the better the parties!

Tink- Hopefully you have a baby in your arms by now!

Miss Jackson- Am at you being able to stomach a double espresso...I long for a proper strong coffee and a large glass of red wine without hours of heartburn and nausea to follow..... Come out baby....!

Does the baby move less the nearer you get to birth? Mine seems to be moving less than in previous weeks, but still giving my ribs a good boot to remind me he's there.

hkz · 19/01/2009 16:05

Ohhh...just missed the last post while I was posting
--Congratulations Tink!

rrrayray · 19/01/2009 16:37

Hello ladies.

one very happy preggy lady* here!
Consultant appointment went REALLY well this morning. They posted me off for a scan to check on my Fluid levels, and are now happy with them, i guess they must have 'replenished' themselves, as are now low, but JUST on the borderline of normal, which means....... Eeeeeeeek....Aaaaaaaahhhhhh i CAN give birth at the MLU. I am absolutely over the moon. Thought Plan A was totally dead and burried, so TOTALLY over the moon!

Bubs has moved from 3/5 to 4/5 engaged also, so happy with thats too.

Sweep - those of you talking about a sweep. Well, i'm pretty certian i was given one today. Much to my surprise!?? She decided she wanted to do an internal, went and got a midwife chaperone, and drew curtain around bed (Blocking OH from seeing, which i think is hillarious given what he is going to see during birth!!) She then proceeded to rummage around in there for a good few mins. Maybe someone can tell me if it was a sweep? She didn't just poke up, she seemed to go right up and then sort of, well "sweep" around.... hence why i think it was a sweep!

Oh, and since the "rummage", they mentioned spotting, but have been having quite alot of Blood & Gunk?!? Is this anything abnormal?

She has made a few notes about internal, but sort of hard to read? looks like she has written Low and then something beginning with a P. (Any ideas tree?) Oh my what a donkey, i've just realised the line below now that i know its about my cervix reads " Admin a Swipe" - that solves that one.

Tink Weeeehey GO Girl Fantastic news, and only with G&A - you Trouper. I think i rememeber you saying you wanted Water- hope you got that!!!

Those with reduced fetal movement - Been through this the last few weeks, and DO call your midwife, they take it VERY seriously. Especially nearing the end it CAN (not trying to worry you) mean that the placenta is starting to function less well, or... it can just be they are sleeping/have less room to move around. Either way, its MUCH better to get it checked out. Hope you mummies all get your minds put at rest soon! Have to add, my accupuncture was amazing at getting her moving again!

LenniEd · 19/01/2009 16:43

Wonderful news Tink - Congratulations

And great news for you too rrrayray

One-handed typing is hard as is one handed toddler entertaining. DD noe precariously balanced on side of her Little Tykes car, /i'm never going to get the hang of hsving two.

treedelivery · 19/01/2009 16:51

OOooh rrayray I am so chuffed for you. That is great, well done pregnancy for sorting the fluid. Healthy placenta's rock! Deffo a sweep, particulary the show afterwards. Thats to be expected and shows the cervix noticed which is great too. It's all good news lady!
P. Hmmm. Presenting Part? Pelvis?

Tink has delivered? I missed that!! shooting of to read thread again!

hkz · 19/01/2009 16:53

Ray- That's brilliant news that you can give birth in the MLU! Glad its all going well and the fluid levels are up and all that! Hooray!

Am sooooo fed up with hanging round the house now. Went out and got a haircut this afternoon...which I have been meaning to do for about three months...but am back now firmly lodged on the sofa while DD creates chaos out of all the toys I tidied up earlier. there really is no point in putting them away.

DP works from home and normally looks after DD as I work full time...so there really is bugger all to do...I feel like a complete spare part..I guess I won't be moaning about this when the baby arrives though...enjoy it while it lasts etc..

treedelivery · 19/01/2009 16:55

Yay Tink!!!!! Fabbo. God we're doing really well here ladies, it's pretty positive stuff if I may say.
Looking forward to flf and Mooose stories I hope they are happy with their 'day at the office'
Rrayray your thread title has made us famous by the way!!

rrrayray · 19/01/2009 17:03

tree well for the P word, i can work out the P and a T?!! hmm... that'll keep us guessing then! Thought it was a show, not too concerned about the blood afterwards, its very much bloody Gunk (Sorry guys if Tmi) so am assuming its sort of a good thing! Yes, she had a good look at the placenta and was happy functioning well. never thought i'd be so happy to STILL be pregnant, and NOT be being induced, but am over the moon at idea of MLU again! Hurrah!

So am i right in thinking that if sweeps work, they usually work within 12 hours or so... Ah bum, looking unlikley for me then, had about 10 am, so only got about 5 more hours to work!!! Hmmmm.... Maybe some birthing ball Hoolas will help!

HKZ - know what you mean about being fed up hanging around the house. OH has a surprise day off today, so after the appt this morning we've been to cinema and for lunch! was lovely. Saw new Will Smith movie- Seven Pounds. Def recommend, REALLY good... Real heart warmer!

I know, our Title seems to be making all sorts of people drop in! Lets hope our babies start listening to their evictions!!!

MissHairspray · 19/01/2009 17:11

Congrats tink and v.pleased that there weren't any mistakes and you did have a girl after all of that pink shopping!

tree you must be getting so fed up, can't believe how many niggles you've had

rrayray really pleased for you, must be such a relief

Been having a bit of a show over the past couple of days, and Just had another sweep, cervix still really posterior,1cm dilated and 50% effaced so while stuff is happening I don't think it is fast enough to avoid being induced on Weds. Despite the fact i'm mentally fed up being pg I think my body just loves it too much - have had no morning sickness, no weird cravings, no pelvic pain, no infections and everything has been so spot on. Am a bit disapointed as I feel like I will somehow be missing out on the 'experience' of natural labour and it also means I have to go to the huge hospital in town rather than nice MLU round the corner. Having said that am ready to get this baby out, really can't take much more hanging around in limbo, and I can transfer to the MLU for my postnatal recovery though where I should get my own room and plenty of help with feeding and stuff.

Right am off to go and look adoringly at our yummy nursery and get excited about becomming a mum. Have a good evening ladies

treedelivery · 19/01/2009 17:14

PART!? is it 'p. part' or 'P.part'? If so then it's presenting part. The head/bum in other words [head in your case I assume]. Usually we might say a positon in relation to 'spines', or in terms of 1, 2 or 3 minus/plus or 1,2,3 +/- It's all a measure of where the head is in the pelvis.

treedelivery · 19/01/2009 17:19

MissHairspray - no promises but I'd encouraged by your cervix. Thats really good as this is your 1st, no? My cervix was like that after about 6 hours of bloody contractions. The 50% effaced is really good, the cervix has to get slim before it can open and you have done half of it without labouring! It's ripening and there are hormones floating about in you somewhere working their magic!

You may labour before, but if you need inducing you have done quite a bit of work already so the prostin gell has less to do iyswim?

missjackson · 19/01/2009 17:31

Great news Rray, and lucky you to get a sweep at 40 weeks - my midwife just made an appt for next Sunday for me to have a sweep as they won't do it before 41 weeks here.

I've also booked acupuncture for Thursday so am hoping that will help!

And my Mum and I are off for a girly spa afternoon tomorrow so at least I feel I am spending my time doing nice stuff rather than just waiting. So generally feeling positive rather than peed off at continuing state of pregnancy.

Tree what are we going to do without you once you finally go into labour?!

Hope all the new mummies are doing well and aren't too tired.

MissHairspray · 19/01/2009 17:33

Thanks tree, yes its my first so that's what I was hoping - that at least if I am on my way if it comes to induction it should be a bit easier. And just been on the hospital website and found it has a room for labouring which looks like a softplay area with disco ball and light show - just add a bit of Abba off my ipod and I can have a party!

rrayray another suggestion - posterior (as in cervix position)? I've got that written all over my notes .

Misshairspray- The labouring room has a disco ball! Wow! No disco balls in hackney! Hope labour kicks off for you before wednesday...fingers crossed...it sounds like the right things are happening.

MissJ- A spa sounds like the ideal way to spend the last days of pregnancy...enjoy your pampering.

Have booked another acupuncture session for first thing tomorrow, she said she'd try some points to encourage labour this time and she used to be a midwife so is full of useful info.

Dog- know what you mean about hibernating...have been horrid and bad tempered for the last few days...feel much better today after finally having a bit of time to myself and getting a haircut!

hkz · 19/01/2009 19:00

Quick question....I've just noticed my fingers are a bit puffy...does this mean anything?? Not swollen or anything, just a bit of a squeeze taking my rings off...

oooggs · 19/01/2009 19:37

congrats tink

rrrayray · 19/01/2009 19:43

Ohhh i think it MIGHT be postierior What does this mean in relation to Cervix?

miss hairspray Sending MASSIVE labour vibes to you... know what its like to be told MLU out of bounds! REALLY got fingers crossed for you. Don't give up just yet, Wednesday isn't here yet!!

missjackson Can't recommend the accupuncture enough. i know i'm not in labour yet, but really got her moving, and things have only moved in the right direction for me this week. and FLF went into labour, er, the day after her accupuncture i think! I'm going to call up and book accupuncture for this wed again (only does it once a week.) Spa afternoon sounds lovely. I assume you mean massages and stuff though not actual Spa??... i'm sure your aware we preggies aren't allowed sauna/ Steam room.... < Dreams of Jacuzzi!>

dog Really REALLY try not to hibernate. i have been hibernating over last few days, but got out and about today, and although i was waddling VERY slowly, the fresh air, and change of scenery has made me feel a heck of a lot brighter about things!

Hkz i wouldn't worry about your puffy fingers. I took my rings off weeks ago, as some days/randomly my fingers are like little baguettes, and others they are fine! Strangely it really does help to drink some MORE water to reduce fluid retention! One day last week my hands were so swollen that my knuckles hurt, but as long as your b. pressure is OK, i don't think its anything to worry about! (From my experience this Pg)

rrrayray · 19/01/2009 19:44

rrayray - posterior, so, your cervix is just where you left it so to speak. At the end and top of the vagina. As the head comes down it will move more central and then the head comes through and we start taling about that position instead.
It means the internals get easier for you, as we don't have to feel as high or as far back in labour. So thats good!

Urgh feeling really shoddy here. I know it's a bit of a mantra in my life but I never had any of this with dd!! I have that feeling in your tummy before a big exam or something, or even before the flu. Y'know that shaky within feeling? Also the runs and the pukes, also starving.
Lordy!

LooseyC · 19/01/2009 20:28

Huge congrats Blue and Tink - it's great to be able to say this so often now. Bracken is a beautiful name Tink - I'm a bit at lovely girls names sometimes with a boy on the way!

Ray glad things seem to be going your way now - you sound so excited it's really cheered me up out of my impatient grump.

MissHairspray I can't believe your MLU has a disco ball too! You aren't in Oxford are you? I thought the one at our local place had to be a one-off but maybe I shouldn't scoff until I've tried it. It was the pole-dancing looking light thing I was more concerned about

EachPeachPearMum · 19/01/2009 20:29

Congratulations Tink and welcome baby Bracken!

Oh- so much to catch up on today!

Dog- I am in same psotition- If I go over .... last day will be DD's birthday- eek!

hkz- my fingers have been swollen for a few weeks now- later than last pg thank goodness. My ankles have started to swell a little this week too.

Having a lot of downward pressure in my abdomen this evening- no contractions, but he feels soooooo low- can't believe he's still inside.

elkiedee · 19/01/2009 21:14

Congratulations Tink

Another pretty lazy day for me today - I did clean up the wall behind the cooker a bit - there's still some bits which are slightly out of my reach or could just do with more scrubbing but it did look a bit better. Have discovered that Scrabulous is back on Facebook under another name so spent a few hours playing with that, but did also make a 40 week GP's appointment and arrange for a replacement phone to be sent to me, as several of the keys on the current one don't work - I can't put spaces in text messages and keep having to turn the phone off completely to end conversations.

Hope those of you still waiting get a good night's sleep, unless it's disrupted by going into labour, properly!

fymandwhenisthisbabycoming · 19/01/2009 21:31

congratulations tink!

tree I think I'm having the same as you! with DS it was literally no pains no BH then into labour and away we go....16 mildish hours to get to 4cm, fully effaced then another 10 to give birth.

Now am ha=ving pains, contractions, periody feelings, and feel like this one is sticking knitting needles into my cervix from inside (ouchy ouchy ouchy)

Just had 5 mahoosive, hugely painful, contractions about 1 minute each, 2 mins apart, genuinely thought I was going to give birth there and then, yelling for DH and my tens machine, etc etc - then absolutely nothing!

ditto shaky feeling! and never had any of this with DS !
