On phone still so hard to scroll through everything, but some responses ...

Schulte - Kinderhotels are great with tinies because of the childcare and facilities, but an alternative would be to look at family hotels in the Harz mountains or somewhere like that, a little bit away from airports and so on, as this could be cheaper. Or there is a religious charity called Kolpe or Kolping that run family hotels in Germany similar to Kinderhotels with slightly more rudimentary food.

Ginger? - Re: Independent midwives - my mw is being interviewed on Women's Hour tomorrow morning about pressure on the service and an apparent rise in infant mortality in the UK, so perhaps listen to her interview. But if you go to the Association of Independent Midwives you can search for a local one to you. It costs between about £2500-£3000 and you get an awful lot for that. Maybe talk to a few before deciding who to have? NHS sometimes provide them for people (mine do some NHS work) and although it's rare, you could always ask.
