Boffin is sounds like things ar working out. So very happy for you.

No news on your fron Nutty?

I spent my day in a very lazy way...I finished the book that I started while waiting for the GP. Dragonquest, by McCaffrey; she really is a wonderful author. I hate leaving good books in the middle, especially to do responsible things like vacuuming and such... I feel better for it, but realised that I haven't eaten all day and so I'm famished.

Hope everyone's day went ok.

OddEyes · 21/01/2009 19:33

Yay for Boffin! Enjoy the respite.
Pants for Nutty! So good to have MN and see that further painkillers can be available. Hope you able to get yourself a bed soon! Elective cs are brill apparently- spoke to sil last night about her emergency cs, she said the woman in the bed next to her who had elective was still in full make-up, pristine hair and wide awake enjoying her baby, my sil on the other hand...
Bleu - jealous of you reading time - make the most of it before the wee one arrives too I say, vacuum always has to be done but making time for a good book is definatly more important
I have been rejigging ds's room to make space for baby things. 2 steps forward, 4 back and then 1 forward again pretty sums up my day - made even harder by ds playing with everything I have just put away.

BoffinMum · 21/01/2009 19:35

Nutty, I have had the TENS on for a couple of hours now. It is a maternity grade model apparently with four sticky pads which is what you need. Positioning is important and you are supposed to wear the pads higher that for labour. Pain reduced 5% and I had 60mg codeine phosphate and 2 paracetemol (1g) at the same time an hour ago. I reckon this made pain reduce another 5%.

We are going to get you sorted Nutty! Do not fear!! xx

BoffinMum · 21/01/2009 20:10

Pain down 15% I reckon. Have just shuffled down to loo and back and really didn't need my crutches as much. Happily stoned. This is great!! :.)

Nutty how are you??? I have Green and Black's chocolate!!

PuzzleRocks · 21/01/2009 20:19

Good evening
I type this with a dressing on my finger. Whilst making a shepherds pie at lunchtime I managed to chop my finger instead of the carrots. The sound of steel hittng bone was lovely. Mercifully I was using DH's ultra sharp and sexy Global knives so the wound was very clean and after the initial horror I was able to dress it myself. Hurts like a bugger though. What a silly moo.

Springy - I'm glad your sunshine is back. How dare you suggest you look less than great. You have youth on your side madam. Everyone is hot at twenty, they just don't realise until they are looking back ten years later. I was damn fine

Babypringle - Good to hear from you. And you lucky thing working for a publishing house, we are a bookworm family so are very jealous. I would love chickens too.

Boffin - Good work on the marking and on kicking NHS arse. Get you posting from your hospital bed like a pregnant Kate Adie! Thank god things are moving forward for you.

Nutty - I have two Denmans, DH even has one.
Oh hell, just read your early morning post. I don't now what to say. Sending you loads of positive vibes. I hope you get proper treatment. Take care of yourself sweetheart. At least with a section you know this will all be over sooner rather than later. I know that's not much help. I wish there was some way I could help. You and Boffin have really drawn the short straws, you both must have some good luck coming your way soon. And you are not banging on, that's what we are here for. You need to let it out.

Bleu - Fingers crossed that it eases soon. Good that it's not mastitis though.

Conkertree - If only Creme eggs brought on labour. Would be a good excuse for over-indulging.

They said 2 or 3 days. I am going to have a float in the hydrotherapy pool on Friday morning and I am hoping they will let me home after that. I am bloody buying one of these TENS machines, I can tell you. I am never taking it off ever.

Woman in next bed has gone into labour at 34 weeks. Too busy on labour ward for her to go up there. I don't think we'll be getting much sleep around here tonight. Blardy noisy monitors everywhere!!

But I am so please I am in. Promise me you will try to get admitted!!

Another one is in labour! I am surrounded! I thought they put people in special rooms in labour! I didn't realise it was a public event! Fuck! This is bizarre! They are all in labour in a group without TENS or water or anything! WTF! This will be a whole frigging chapter in the Book of Boff, I can tell you. Is this Candid Camera?? I'm going to be delivering these babies soon at this rate - midwives all upstairs!!!

mathsmummy27 · 21/01/2009 22:25

aaaaaaaaaaah how scary! hot water and towels (?) do you think they will steal your TENS???!! xx

BoffinMum · 21/01/2009 22:25

Hey you kick off Nutty. I Remember I am your outrage buddy and we have standards. Honestly I think your legs collapsing is the best thing that could have happened in a funny sort of way because you can argue there's neurological damage and need admitting for that reason if nothing else. There are so many things the acute and chronic pain teams can do to help. I think my pain is now 50% lower. Amazing!!

BoffinMum · 21/01/2009 22:30

They are not having my TENS. It is mine, all mine!!! Hope they move the women on my right soon. I hate hearing random strangers in labour, I realise now.

Her waters have broken. Contractions 3 minutes in every 10. Midwife with her now. Bizarre how people just lie in bed moaning. I would be striding about a lot sorting myself out by now. It's blardy obvious to me she's in established labour. Hope they do something soon.

BoffinMum · 21/01/2009 22:42

That's what I thought Nutty. How dare they!!

BoffinMum · 22/01/2009 00:50

Nutty and everyone - MY PAIN HAS GONE!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!! THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!
Labour ladies are now going up to labour ward at last!!! They are happier too, I think.
