PS BB you are indeed a good friend. xx

SpringySunshine · 17/01/2009 17:48

Nutty, I'm sure you're excellent

& seeing it all on the screen like that... It writes itself. The papers really would have a field day & the hospital would be blind not to be able to see it. I definitely say go for it & see how keen they are to help then.

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 17:49

Boffin, the first thing you have to do (I am sure you have this already), is sit down and write everything down from the point it started, every referral, every problem, every, meeting, comment, promise.

When your DH writes the letter, cc it to everyone and make sure it is clear on the letter - your MW, Your NHS trust, Your local MP, your lawyer (if you have one)! Include a breakdown of all the events as an enclosed, record delivery the letter so you have proof of receipt and give them deadlines to respond. That way, not only will it mean they absolutely CANNOT ignore the letter as they now blame could land with them, if we do take it to the media, we can call on all these people to comment!

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 17:50

as now blame could land with them even.

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 17:58

Also, if you are feeling really strong cc the letter to the cambridge evening news too - that would DEFINITELY get them going!!!

Colin Grant is the Group Editor for News and John Morgan is the Healthcare Correspondent.

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 18:02

WOw, this is actually really easy - they have all their PR contacts on their website - DEFINITELY 100% cc one of these people even if you don't do CEN just yet. (either Jo Timson and James Woodman - probably James Woodman as he heads up media).

Ok going to stop now as the potential power is going to my head! Hopefully just scaring them via letter will help but please please both email me if you want me to call the press teams.

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 18:15

Amazing BB!!
I will see what DH can do first and let you know what his happening.
I think it would be appropriate to give them one more week to fix things and then consider letting it kick off.

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 18:22

Good call! I think that is fair enough! (I am quite looking forward to my part in the life of boff! - that is your book by the way, I think you should write one!)

SpringySunshine · 17/01/2009 18:27

For God's sake, don't give the woman another string to her bow

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 18:28

BB - The life of Boff!

That sounds very good actually. How could you not buy a book with a title like that??
It would also surely be more profitable that my last book was (it took me 5 years to write and I made the princely sum of £200 plus some free copies - ah the joys of academe!).

I have snooped a bit online to find out more about you and found you are a really hot PR person!! I think the offer of help is even more extra specially brilliant now.

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 18:31

PS We have had a look at the crib -there are some splinters and the metal thing that locks it into place and stops it rocking is all bent but DH reckons he can more or less fix it. I must have really been angry to bend the metal that much.

frostyfrekkles · 17/01/2009 18:32

woooo ladies, i got out for a day and you've planned the downfall of the nhs in my absence. Get yous!

although it has to be said can you just wait to pull the final stops out from under it until after April 24th when I've had the chance to sample medical grade nitrous oxide? ;)

miss boffin i'm so sorry that you're also feeling rubbish, and as usual untterly inspired by your resilience and humour in the face of constant pain. Thank you for that inspiration. I have no knowledge of how to help you, but i hope that the knowledge i'm thinking of you and thinking you're ace can add a little sparkle somewhere in the mind noise x

i'm feeling a bit better today, went for a long walk in the sunshine this morning and then to work at the galleries today and now feel more stable again. mood swings, what mood swings? I'm a completely sane human being honest.

glad you like the slogans, Maybe a t shirt making enterprise?

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 18:38

Ha ha - I have to say I don't actually do as much media stuff as I used to but my name does go on a lot of things! More so before I was married and changed my surname (I even ventured ever so slightly in to academia -when I published an article on ethics with my former tutor!)

I can't help it springy - she is just too damned good at everything!

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 18:41

Yay re crib fixing! Go DH - he is getting some good brownie points today!

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 18:42

Oooh and Frosty glad you are feeling better today T-shirt making may be the answer!!!

I have a suggestion for a game to take our minds off our misfortunes. Let's write our biographies in six words, like the book that recently came out.

Here's mine.

My brain, the beast, needed feeding.

What's yours?

SpringySunshine · 17/01/2009 20:35

Glad to hear you're feeling better today, frekkles. I hope you're making the most of some quiet time

BB, will pre-order the book - you really are good at PR

Hmm. Six words... "Holy shit. What are the chances?"

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 20:48

Well it's not entirely selfless, this LO would love and rich Auntie

ooh boffin that is a really hard game...
