Morning all - hope you all have nice weekend plans - am just making DH's breakfast then he is off to work and I will be settling in for the day!

Springy DH had a thought - maybe you should make a sign saying something like 'Before you start gossiping, yes I am pregnant, yes I am in a loving long-term relationship and yes I can have a baby and a degree / career!' to put round your neck, don't wear it at first but when people stare at you put it on and stare back at them - my guess is they will be so mortified and embarrassed they will shuffle away like the small children they are!! or something like 'would you like to take a picture'

I think it is your youthful looks are the problem - you should just look a bit more old and hagged!!!

BabyBolat · 17/01/2009 07:44

LOL at fat moonwalker puzzle maybe we should come with one of those reversing beeps like the big lorries to warn people. You do really forget your bump sometimes and I see gaps and am like yeah that's fine, completely forgetting I don't have a flat stomach anymore!!!

Springy - what does DP have on his arms?

Nutty - what are your tatts? I have a large shark at the top of my back and a latin phrase across my stomach in Dark Crystal (as in the movie) script. As a surprise for my 30th DH got my name done in the same script, surrounded by gothic hearts, on the top of his arm.

Love BB's sign idea and Frekkles "it's your boyfriends"

Love that website, surely you don't want this in your mouth?

Isn't candida thrush?

Wow Nutty that was very informative!!!

I am losing the will to live - about a third of the way through my work now and am so bored! Have also eaten everything in the house (had salad cream roll for breakfast (healthy) cheese and crackers for lunch and am now chowing down on dairy milk! Do you think I can send the bill for liposuction to work post baby????

BB, I like your DH's idea! I may well implement it. It's really strange how people do just jump to stupid conclusions. & frekkles, your signs may well be the comedic touch needed I've already had a lot of comments about 'who's the father?' & I've been known to say that until Jeremy Kyle can get us on for a DNA test it's just going to have to be names out of a hat

Nutty, I want a cute teeny tiny person! At least then the duvet hogging (or 'snogging' as my little sister called it when she was teeny tiny ) & face slapping would have the 'ahh' factor. In my life it's usually a huge, heavy bloke beating the hell out of my freezing body in his sleep (as I say this, I notice that BB has the same problem )

I want fanjo shower gel!

Puzzle, DP has a dragon on his left arm & a celtic-type circly pattern on his right arm. I like tracing them with my fingers, too. & measuring out the distances between certain points with my fingers. Hours of fun

Your tattoos sound so cool! & I love that your DH got your name tattooed - mine would never have my name tattooed on him 'just in case'. Bastard

& Nutty, get you, you tattooed minx! You're only small, how have you fitted that much ink on you? I really want a tattoo now - you've all made me jealous! I only have my ears pierced once (& I'm not even sure that they're still open) & that's it in terms of any kind of body modification. Not fair!

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 14:18

BB - consider your workmates shouted at!

Springy - I think you would be very surprised if I told you at least half of the bitchy students secretly would probably like babies immediately themselves, and were only bitching out off a kind of jealousy.

Frekkles - I think it is not an immediate whoosh of love etc for most people, except in the movies; it's a gradual awareness that this is a really important and worthwhile activity, with some exhaustion and weepiness mixed in, and increasingly frequent moments of utter joy and total soppiness, that more often than not, lead people to do it all over again. Do the other second and multiple timers agree with me on this, I wonder??

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 14:25

Frekkles (just catching up with posts) - those slogans are truly brilliant, you should go into production.

Springy - I had a baby as a student and it never stopped me having a career, in fact it probably helped, so ignore the idiots.

SpringySunshine · 17/01/2009 14:31

See Boffin, that's the thing - I know that if I'd have seen a pregnant student wandering around (& I wasn't), I'd have deliberately been trying to make friends with her so I'd get to play with her baby. No such luck from this side of the fence, though!

& I actually feel greatly reassured that your baby never stopped you 'having a career' (bless you & your art of understatement) & will now actually go & do my stupid assignment. Yes I will.

Just got back from DS2's audition. It transpired he was actually expecting Simon Cowell, sarcasm, and to be voted out, because Pop Idol/X-factor represented his only experiences of auditions!

I was very impressed he had bothered to go along at all if that was what he thought it was going to be like! It was actually a couple of nice people in a room being very kind and friendly to a bunch of seven-year-olds.

Afterwards the conversation went like this:

Boff: How did it go then?
DS2: I sang my bestest, better than at home, with louds and softs in it.
Boff: Did the people say anything?
DS2: No, they just looked shocked.

!!

DH and I are not holding our breath about this, it has to be said.

BoffinMum · 17/01/2009 15:06

Springy, how about we swap? You mark my box of 30 assignments and write rude comments on all the essays about the lack of referencing, and I will write your assignment!

BTW I found the Eating Disorders Soc people were often the nicest with babies. I have no clue why this might have been and whether it was just a Cambridge phenomenon.
