eeeks PT does that mean my newly blonde locks might turn green in the same vein as if you swim too quickly in a chlorinated pool post bleached highlights ?! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

My tears seem to have temporarily subsided. DS is now in bed and I was convinced that DH wouldn't bother to check in tonight (he's staying in some plush hotel tonight courtesy of the company for some leaving do of one of the big cheeses at work) but he did phone whilst I was reading ds a story upstairs so feel a bit better that he actually remembered (I am being a bit mean here because he would usually phone but I'm being uber sensitive). Although, when I was on mat leave/ newly at home with ds last time he never phoned in during the day and even if I tried to call him he'd never pick up the phone - good job there was never an emergency eh?!.....

Am immersing myself in the new series of American Idol on ITV2 tonight. The last series was fab. Do I sound like a telly addict?

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 20:47

woo hoo... dp got paid extra this week for some weird reason so i can buy nappies for ds

i luuurrvvveee nappy shopping

swampy, quick, huge nappies for a well built, tall toddler who could well be in them anther year as he really doesn't 'get' the whole toilet concept... and wraps for same toddler?

herb, no idea... i'm not sure i believe her tbh but she's adamant she won't do it and almost seems plausable when she explains why and seeing as i don't want to pay some salon to give me a migraine i might as well wait.

spottyshoes · 15/01/2009 20:53

Yes nappy guru Swampy us too. DS is in the largest prefolds and is wetting through them & a booster at night. He might be in them another year too.

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 20:57

Can i join in the weepfest please? Went for my scan today and baby is doing well but she's BREECH! This after my bp/protein in wee worries were all sorted (back to normal on mon) and i was really gearing up for VBAC reading Janet Balaskas and the like.....
The hospital are ringing me tomorrow with an appointment for mon or tues to try ECV, anyone had it? Does it hurt?
I feel like it's just one thing after another, still got all the extra tests to go through after she's born but really thought i was on the home straight for a VBAC.

Now my computer's mended at least i can go online during the insomniac nights i've been having. Anyone else?

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 21:00

PT - do you think it could be a mouse or something that's got in behind the units and died? Would explain the smell but should go away after a few days.

I haven't had a haircut for over a year. It looks AWFUL, it's going to be my late birthday treat after this baby arrives.

spottyshoes · 15/01/2009 21:05

IDBI - Can't sugar coat it i'm afraid but I found the ECV excrutiating and if this one is breech at the consultant appt I wont be booking in for one again as prefer the CS recovery to that! That said DS was stuck under my ribs so I'm sure it's not the same for everyone and hopefully you will have a much better experience. Try and get an early appt as they make you fast incase you need a CS on the day.

I'll join you with the insomnia.

Maybe Fab Febbers should have a 2am meet up at nights!

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 21:08

oh no spotty, you're the 2nd person to say that to me. That's 2 out of 2 people who've had it who found it awful. Better get on my knees over the weekend i think.

laidbackinengland · 15/01/2009 21:12

idbi - lots of people also recommend moxibustion for turning breeach babies too.

spottyshoes · 15/01/2009 21:12

Sorry chick I would love to say it was ok and, more importantly, worked

Frozen peas on top of bump and hot water bottle at bottom is another that's supposed to work. And moxubustion.

laidbackinengland · 15/01/2009 21:14

or even breech babies !! Get ye to an acupuncturist !

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 21:16

laidback - i think i'll look into that if it doesn't work at the hospital unless i can get an appointment with someone over the weekend...

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 21:43

idbi..... do try as many of the natural methods as possible before giving up hope... bum in the air woman

when i was preg with dd i read the gowri motha book and she reconmmends moxa sticks to her breech mothers.... worth a try anyway right?

have heard ecvs is awful and the hospital where i had dd and ds told us in prenatal classes that they don't do it anymore as even when it worked the baby had often turned around again before the mother left the hospital!

depending on what type of breech you should still be able to go for a vaginal birth though, ask them about it at your appointment.

swampster · 15/01/2009 21:44

Close your eyes, Herb, this will just piss you off even more!

Pink - surely it's got to be Toddle-ease time? Topped with XL airflows... Plus some HUUUUUGE BumHuggers for nights. Or a Minki Huggle - not tried them but they have their fans.

My favourite night time wrap is a fleecey Stacinator. DS2 is 2.7, not a clue what he weighs, but is in the toddler sized one. Hope it lasts till he decides to be dry.

If you are interested, I have a Tots Bots size 3 fleece wrap and a Nature Babies size 3 fleece Multiwrap - both in VGC - which I almost managed to sell on to another MNer - until I convinced her that Stacinators really were the way forward.

Spotty, all power to you, I could never make prefolds work (except to wipe floors, which they are very good at). Once again, for nights Ella's House BumHuggers - or Baby Beehinds bamboos (my all-time favourites) which are supposed to be birth to potty but probably already too small for PT's chunky monkey. Plus a lovely fleece wrap.

Bamboo and hemp do, of course, take forever to dry...

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 21:54

PT - they won't let me do a breech vaginal delivery cos of the previous section Am having serious second thoughts about the ECV now...

herbgarden · 15/01/2009 22:05

swampster am too emotional to care [melodrama queen emoticon]

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 22:05

swampy... i'd love to get toddleease and airflows but alot of the english sites don't sell them to ireland because motherease have some weird restriction

i did manage to order small size sandys' from bumfluff before so will try flame again but if she can't sell them to me will have to look for other options

i do like the look of the bumhuggers i got for kung fu panda... will have a peek at those as soon as my internet connection wakes up a bit.

not keen on velcro wraps... ds is very adept at undressing himself but hasn't yet mastered poppers thank god!

spotty... dd is 4 next week and is still in prefolds at night... she did go through a stage of them not coping but it didn't last too long thankfully. i did find when she was night wetting heavily that a wool wrap over whatever hugely boosted nappy i used for her made a huge differance. i also managed for a while by boosting the prefold with a smaller size prefold so she basically had 2 nappies in there... she couldn't walk too well with them on but it worked!

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 22:10

whoops

idbi... that sucks that they won't let you try vaginal

swampster · 15/01/2009 22:12

Poor you, IDBI .

Apparently it is only around 2.5% of babies that flip back to breech after a successful ECV.

swampster · 15/01/2009 22:17

PT, according to the Mother-ease Mothership site in Canada, Little Green Earthlets is their distributor for UK and Ireland.

swampster · 15/01/2009 22:18

[gently wafts ammonia-scented nappy under herb's nose to revive her]

littleboyblue · 15/01/2009 22:33

rosie Hope you're feeling a little better. Remind your girls of this when it's their turn
swampy I'm sure I'll be back to normal by monday and all this will be at the back of my mind with everything else, so will prob still make it anyway (depending on the sleep thing, every time I try to sleep I cry, but sure that'll calm down) but will be carrying my mat notes everywhere now. Good job I bought a great big handbag!
dinkymum Irrational, us? Don't be silly I too don't remember it being this difficult but think it must be worse when you have other dc's to look after and not enough time on your own etc, not long now (I hate that saying!!)
herb glad you're feeling better. I used to call dp alot when ds was born, mostly to ask him really silly things like if I should wake ds for a feed or what I should dress him in to go out. I'd always end up doing the opposite so dp soon stopped answering his phone too or got his boss to answer and tell me he was far too busy to deal with my silly little issues
idbi Can't offer advice for breech babes as never had it, but sympathies. Lots of time on hands and knees. I don't even know what an ECV is!
All this nappy talk.........
Dp did the sensible thing and called in sick to work, glad he did that, no way he can stand out on the track all night like that. Hopefully he'll have a good sleep and can take me tomoz to get a mattress and stand for m basket - spotty, it turns out my basket is small the measurements are 65/29 or something so going to Toys r us where we got the basket from.

PinkTulips · 15/01/2009 22:34

thanks swampy.... i hate not having a decent internet connection to find these things out for myself!

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 22:48

swampy - that's what makes me think i should give it a go.
LBB - It's where they try to turn the baby by manipulating your uterus from the outside....thanks for the sympathy, sorry you're down too. Know what you mean about getting upset before sleeping, things always seem better in the mornings.

Can I have a moment of smugness that my dd 2,7 is now dry at night? She potty trained in about a week in the middle of november. So glad i haven't had to buy more cloth nappies, money is tight at the mo.
I bet she'll seriously regress once the baby arrives now i've boasted!

I'm going to sleep on it and make a decision in the morning as i don't suppose they'll get round to ringing me until lunchtime anyway, the secretary couldn't track down the doctors today.

idontbelieveit · 15/01/2009 22:50

night night, may be back around 2am!
