Cannot believe those Jan mammas to be who are still working!!!!

Rrrayray - this sleep deprivation sure is good practise for when our babies arrive!

Elkie Yah for mum cleaning house!

Periwink · 08/01/2009 12:28

Elkie - yes I know I have been trying to access their website to buy a few things, for a couple of days now and then read in the paper a couple of days ago they were having finiancial difficulties.

fourlittlefeet · 08/01/2009 12:28

afternoon all. can't believe that of blooming marvellous! rubbish, they have some lovely stuff!

I've still been having these amazing, strong painful contractions at night and nothing in the day. Its odd because they have been at exactly the same time for the last 4 nights (1.30, 2.30 and 4.30). Each time I've been getting up at 4.30, having tea and toast, then sleeping peacefully until 7.30. What IS going on? Think I'll be sniffing the clary sage again tonight, now that DP has worked out how to ease my back when the contractions are too strong!

Lenni, come and tell us about your LO!

moosemama · 08/01/2009 12:42

Hi all,

Had quite strong painful contractiony like things every hour all evening last night so spent some time bouncing on my birth ball. Had a bath, they calmed down a bit but then just before bed I had a proper full on painful one that swept down my whole bump and really took my breath away. Decided things looked hopeful so got all the lunchboxes done for today and made sure the kids stuff was ready for school, but that was it - nothing else all night!

Slept ok till 4.00 then woke up for toilet and realised my cold had really come on over the night and I was streaming with really bad sore throat and awful headache. Took paracetamol and rolled around awake until 6ish then next time I woke up I realised the boys and DH were just going out the front door for school run!

Since then have been in bed all morning sneezing, coughing and dozing on an off. Got up at 12.00 and really don't feel like doing much now until I've go the school run at 3.00.

DH realised when they were in the playground this morning that he had given the boys the wrong trousers to wear! DS2 could't keep his up and DS1 was wearing half mast drainpipes! They were just going in, so he had to grab the teacher and ask her if they could help them do a swap. Men! I spend hours sewing in name tapes and he still manages to dress them in the wrong clothes. Can't wait till I am back in charge of all things domestic and life is running smoothly again.

Hope little Spink is doing well and able to leave SCBU.

No news of LenniED yet, hope she's had LO and is just not able to get online and post.

LenniEd · 08/01/2009 13:20

Oh go on then, since you asked

Dylan born last night at 10.34pm. 4hours 'established' labour apparently. HA BLINKIN HA! TBH those 4hours plus the 2nd car journey to hospital were the only hard bits. Actually was incredible experience, will tell all soon. Waterbirth, G&A, fantastic midwife and DH put in a sterling performance too.

Tis amazing what the body can do. I pushed once, everything else just happened by itself really. That whole 'breathing the baby out' thing really can be done.

On boob now, going ok ish. Gets on fine but then fusses round a bit and knocks latch out a bit which is a bit frustrating. After pains bloody murder when he feeds.

Going to have a nap now, will catch up soon. Hope everyone well.

Jokat · 08/01/2009 13:25

Hi everyone,

I have to say it's weird witnessing all your aches, false alarms and anticipation of your babies' births. I missed out on all that! Anyway, on Boxing Day we were finally able to take Leila home and it is sooo nice being a mum to her full-time!

I had a huge argument with my mum over the phone and would like to hear your opinion. She is incredibly upset over the fact that I and Leila's dad will be going on our honeymoon for a week without Leila. This will happen in September when Leila is just over eight months old. My mum says we should go at least half a year later and it will be utterly traumatic for Leila if neither of her parents are around for an entire week. I said it's not like we are letting complete strangers look after her. She will be with her other grandparents who we see all the the time, so she'll be very familiar with them. Also, I would think it would be harder for an older toddler to be without her parents as she would then be even more aware of us being away for 8 days.

What do you think? And has anyone made their own experiences?

Jokat · 08/01/2009 13:28

Oh and congratulations LenniEd!!!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/01/2009 13:28

Yay! Congratulations Lenni, welcome Dylan!

tinkwantsherbaby · 08/01/2009 13:50

congrats lenni

you ladies are all having good births

elkiedee · 08/01/2009 14:14

Congratulations LenniEd, and welcome to the world Dylan.

I'm clearly going to have to hunt for new nighties somewhwere else, that will teach me to leave it to the last minute.

Jokat, someone from my NCT postnatal group in 2007 did something very similar, though in her case it was her mum who the baby stayed with. W's daughter was about 5/6 months at the time, I think. Would you be able to leave your daughter to stay with them for a night at a time occasionally beforehand? We've not left D for a night and it's probably going to happen for the new baby's birth, and I do worry as he's much more clingy to his dad now than he was when he was younger.

oooggs · 08/01/2009 14:16

congrats lenni & welcome to baby Dylan

hi LG&T - yes it is getting harder now - not like you to get so close to your due date

moosemama · 08/01/2009 14:19

Congratulations LenniEd on the safe arrival of little Dylan! Great to hear another positive birth story as well.

My midwife just rang. She is going to come over on Sunday morning and she what she can do to get things going! Not really sure I want another sweep after all the pelvic bone pain I've had this week, but in the long run would prefer that to induction.

fourlittlefeet · 08/01/2009 14:25

congratulations Lenni on little Dylan! How lovely for you!

Jokat, just wanted to say it should be fine by then if you aren't planning to breastfeed that long - otherwise you'll have to leave a fridge full of milk and take a pump with you! Not very sexy...

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 14:43

Lenni Fantastic, Congratulations, Can't wait to hear the full story as water birth with just G&A is my aim! Glad to hear it CAN be done!

Jokat Oh and i are marrying next summer, and too will be going for a weeks honeymoon without bubba. Decided on a week without her, than 2 weeks and taking her. Our little one will be about 15 months by then, but still, i don't see the problem in leaving them with a grandparent who they see frequently anyway? I intend to be a stay at home mummy, so she will be seeing absolutely loads of me up until that one week, some parents do (some through choice, some not) put their tots into nursery from about 12 weeks old 8am-6pm, i don't see the problem with leaving her for One week, with someone she is VERY familiar with, for something as important as your honeymoon. It wouldn't be the same taking bubbs with you!

tree Wow, your getting all sorts of sleep! I can't sleep at night, and don't seem to be able to nap in the day either!

Periwink · 08/01/2009 16:44

Lenni - wonderful news about your birth experience and the arrival of Dylan!

largeginandtonic · 08/01/2009 16:46

Congratulations Lenni!!! I love the name Dylan and you did marvellously well I cant wait to hear all about it.

Ooogs i will be here till she is late, late, late i expect. Hey ho. How long do you think you have left?

Rrray you may go in an instant

Jokat leave her, she will be fine. I have left mine before for a holiday and they were ok. I left mine with my sister who they were very familiar with. It is you who will feel bad not Leila (love that name) How is she now?

I have eaten some pineapple, bought some clary sage and will be having some slap and tickle later

Come on the babies...

hkz · 08/01/2009 17:18

Lenni- Congratulations! Dylan is a great name and sounds like a good , positive birth!

Jokat- If it helps, my parents left me with my godmother for three weeks when I was about 5 months old...and I think I've turned out pretty normal...not too traumatised or anything.
DC1 stayed with close friends for 4 nights when she was about 5 months old and was fine, she was used to being round people and is/was a socialble little girl anyway..

Thanks for all the piles advice earlier. I am busy trying to eat lots of fibre...grr...and avoid chocolate...and red meat...and all the other tasty food that I want to eat that will only make the situation worse. I just hope they disappear for good after the birth of DC2..they are a pain in the arse, literally

Went for a long walk with DP and DD this morning and had serious ouchy contraction type pains down the side of my bump, not the real deal though. And sharp shooting pains near my fanjo...could that be the baby's head hitting my pubic bone/ pelvis? Anyway all the action stopped when I got home and I fell asleep for 2 hours...mmm...bliss.

Time for some raspberry leaf tea...

gtdahb I hate it when I am expecting people to come, the house is all ready and then they don't turn up. Definitely no consolation if they ring to let you know after you've done all that work either.

Don't know why I was surprised by the trouser incident, DH is a vague creative type and has the weirdest ideas about which clothes go together and an absolutely immovable policy on having to wear odd socks every single day! (Luckily I have beaten that one out of him where the boys are concerned. ) He always seems to succeed in making them look like they are dressed either in fancy dress, someone elses clothes or something he's just found in the local clothes recycle bin! Drives me up the wall as I have always been a bit uptight about what they wear cos I feel it reflects on me as a Mum, after all no-one would know if Daddy dressed them that morning.

Still got a stinky cold here, but managed to muster enough energy to make a winter vegetable soup which I hope will help to chase it away.

Texted DH to tell him about the mw coming on Sunday and will probably repeat sweep - guess what his response was?

..... "Oh no! She has really big hands!"

Yeah - thanks for that dahhling!

He has very kindly informed me today that I am having a super hot curry on Saturday night and he will go to the expensive restaurant/take-away in the next village to get it rather than the cheapy local (he must be serious if he's willing to spend money). I told him I'll only eat it if he does too. Thing is, he's a real lightweight with spicy food and suffers from IBS so it'll probably be him rather than me that ends up with contractions from it. It'll be interesting explaining to the mw why he is in labour rather than me on Sunday though, LOL!

hkz · 08/01/2009 18:01

Moosemama.. Had a similar dressing situation today. DP dressed DD, and to be fair, he normally does a passable job (lacking my panache and style...but passable.. ) Poor DD was a bit of a fashion disaster this morning though...clashing colours, (red, white, pink and.... brown...) and dungarees completely back to front. I did sort out the colour combination as it definitely reflects on me! And I like to think I am not a walking fashion disaster... although at the moment that might be questionable

Dog- sorry to hear you still have hurty ribs... it seems with pregnancy that as soon as one symptom eases off another takes it's place... That could be quite a good game... what would you rather have...piles...morning sickness or heartburn...? [Grin]

Think I might try some curry tonight and perhaps a bit of pineaapple action. I might even try and gear myself up for a bit of bedroom action...poor DP is being incredibly patient on that front...I just don't seem to have the energy these days...

Oh yes, he's a laugh a minute - when he's in a good mood. Was a real stinky grumper last night though 'till I pointed out that he may have a cold (manflu) but until he has a copld and is past his due date, has spd etc etc he just aint going to win in the poor me stakes!

Belly button popping's a good thing - less likely to be a posterior baby!
