jokat - we went on honeymoon for a week when dd was 2 1/2 and she was OK but missed the second half of the week.

Now, I've left dd since 6 months for 2 nights a week at nannas as my job involved such hours and commute. She was none the wiser as a baby as it was utterly normal for her and she looks forward to her sleepovers.

So I think sooner the better, in my experience.

Defo defo do a few night runs - maybe leave her a night for a few times then 2 nights a few times - with no contact during this time. Otherwise your not going to enjoy it.

We went on a weekend break at 4 months and it took me the first night to relax and stop bursting into tears!! Ao I think your timing is pretty good actually!

fourlittlefeet · 08/01/2009 19:04

Evening all. I'm knackered! Don't feel like giving birth tonight . Think I'm going to take a day off thinking I'm in labour and just enjoy cruising towards my due date next week.

Have had some lovely supportive friends offering all sorts of help once the bub is out, so feeling a bit more relaxed on the how the feck do you cope with two front. Most of them either have two or another on the way, so they fully understand what its going to be like!

Oh God 2 of them. 2 children. Argh!!
DD went to 1st gymnastics session today - that I had to negotiate a special fee and terms for due to the financial melt down here. She was a proper mardy arsed tart afterwards so am feeling slightly underwhelmed by my mothering skills!!

Am also increasingly fed up of being awake till 4-5am every freaking night then doozing and napping all day till 2am. I worry about stuff I need to organise but it's not like you can jump up and start talking to mortgage people at 3am is it!? May as well go back to work on nights! Hurmph! Thank Lordy am sleeping during day though or would be squashy cotton wool.

Baby so so active, think she's trying to swing round to anterior from nice op she was [good baby..]

Can't wait to hear more of Spink and LenniEd and have big gossips in the postnatal room!

Also booked bubbs and I onto baby massage course at the Sure Start thingie for when she's 6 weeks old or so - then realised its Fri am 9.30. Only place I wanna be at 9.30 am is in bed/in PJ's/on couch so dunnno how realistic this is!! If can get dd Fri pm preschool swapped to Fri am t'wud be good. I'd be up dressed and have to go!!

Sorry your midwife had to cancel - I've had to do that when a visit has taken 3 times longer than thought cos of all probs etc...it's poo. Especially booking in visits, some take 10 mins and I've had them take 3 hours if there's a previous birth trauma or something going on in the home. I'd hate to think anyone cleared up for my visits or washed their hair to come and see me though. No neeeeed!! Am hospital based now though, so am used to being permanently behind time and targets.

Must stop rambling on.......

Aaah! ILs just dropped round with Christmas presents from long distance rellies. Boys were eating their tea and what ensued was absolute chaos and mayhem. We now have two extremely hyper children that should have been in bed half an hour ago and its not looking likely that they'll be going to sleep any time soon! (and all that despite us managing to secrete the Christmas presents away before they saw them)

Was so chaotic at one point I considered going into labour just to escape!

flippyflop · 08/01/2009 19:38

jokat.. I really think it will do you good to have a little break & a week is absolutely fine so long as you have lots of practice runs before hand.

My in laws had my DS1 for 6 days when he was 4 months old cos I was cramming to get my dissertation done.. only 40 miles away & at the end of the phone, but gone none the less..& he & they both loved it. Me & hubby also went away when DS2 was 6 months old, for a week in Majorca & had a great break. They both have a fab relationship with their grandparents, will go to stay at the drop of a hat & we know that if/when we ever wanted to go away, or had to be away eg cos one of us was in hospital, or some other emergency, there would be no problem. So many children I know have never been away from their mum even for 1 night..then its all a big panic if an emergency happens, or god forbid she has another baby & has to go in hospital.

DO IT! have a great time, don't feel guilty & look forward to your reunion when you get back x

rrrayray · 08/01/2009 19:39

Gin&Tonic Going anytime now would be OK by me! Obviously not OK by her though. MIL text earlier to say thinks will go on 10th. Lots of people seem to have used that date. Is that the date someone said for the full moon? People seem to know somehting i dont!!

Dog My belly button popped a few weeks ago, i don't mind it really. and midwife said its a good sign about correct positioning apparently.... oh moose seems to have beaten me to that!!

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 19:43

My tummy button popped at 30 wks so none of you can have any sympathy from me. Have the fattest belly when non pregnant though - it's my fat storage point.

Agree flippyflop about important we/inlaws and dc's all know they can stay somewhere should the need arise. Anyone of us could land into hospital with anything at any time. dd would happily off to nan's for a few weeks I reckon!

Think full moon this weekend!!

moosemama · 08/01/2009 19:50

Full moon is the 11th, but apparently its influence will start before then and continue for a short while afterwards, so we could be seeing babies either side of Sunday - if you believe in that sort of thing that is.

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 19:57

This is your weekend Moose - come on girl. Then you won't need a sweep from 'ol big hands!!

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 19:57

Oooo and if I have my dd then I won't have to go on 2 training days Mon and Tue. All good!!

moosemama · 08/01/2009 20:09

Have eaten soup, was lovely, but am still absolutely starving, have a feeling healthy food just aint gonna cut it though!

Thing is, all we have in is the biscuits and genoa cake I bought for the Midwife plus a couple of mince pies and some squirty cream.

Having loads of bump tightenings again, not exactly painful, but not comfortable either. Weird how it always starts just after the DCs go to bed!

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 20:16

Can I be your midwife and eat all your cake?????

Moose we have so similar a pattern! Why do our uteruses get so grumpy at 8pm???

oooggs · 08/01/2009 20:27

LG&T - seen m/w and baby is head down and 3/5 engaged - ds1 was born by now but dts induced at 38 weeks so who knows (this weekend would be good )

LooseyC · 08/01/2009 20:48

Huge congrats Spink and LenniEd! I hoped that was why there were already so many posts on this thread!

Saw GP today and apparently baby has moved down a bit but not fully engaged - he is making huge really weird movements now, but maybe I'm just feeling it in different places?

Still sort of dissapointed not getting any twinges like others but still could have 4 weeks to go if it came to it. Blimey that's ages - wish I hadn't thought of that!

Going to eat last of xmas chocs now... healthy food is just wrong at this stage surely?

moosemama · 08/01/2009 20:50

Sending you virtual cake Tree! Do you have small hands?

MsSparkle · 08/01/2009 21:28

Blimey, so many posts

Still no baby here although i have had an eventful time.

Last night i woke up at 3.30am and went downstairs for a drink. As i was stood in the kitchen i started leaking down below. My natural reaction is to tense the muscles to hold it in but that didn't work and the fluid just kept coming out. I thought it was my waters breaking so i went back to bed and thought i would wait for any contractions to start.

When i woke up i hadn't had any contractions but thought i better ring the unit which i did and was told to go in for a check up and to if it was the waters. Turns out it wasn't and i feel really embarressed that i just wet myself

The midwife did a sweep and booked me in for an induction next Thursday. She also said my baby seems bigger than my dds birth wieght (7Ib 9oz) and is more like 8 and a half! I am now really scared of having a big baby, feel stupid for being incontinant and am dreading labor not starting and having to be induced

She did suggest a walk though which i did. Still nothing happening though.

Don't be this place is for letting it all out! You should have seen me when I went to a baby massage thing and got told wrong time. Had a proper mardy arsed fit in the health centre. Was quite funny looking back!! And it's a tart when people don't come when they say they will. These checks relly matter to us, even if we are doing great and normal.

Mssparkle, my dd was 8lb 4oz it's not that different from 7lb 7 in the scheme of things. And especially not in head size. Now someone local just had a 10lb something or other. Now thats moving it up a notch! Apparently it flew out!!

Sure mine feels smaller this time, even m/w does and she's remembering back 4 years which is impressive stuff!! Keep having panic attacks that I have no fluid or something but then take m/w head off and fluff some vests. Can't go there and start worrying, be no stopping me!

Hands a nicely medium size 7

EachPeachPearMum · 08/01/2009 23:00

Full moon is 11th? That's my birthday!
m/w today, all fine- appointment for 22nd- 40+1.

My tummy button is on the verge of pooping out- hope it doesn't! His shoulder is often behind it though which is painful, as my navel is v sensitive.

treedelivery · 08/01/2009 23:40

Oohh eachPeach - how do you feel about maybe delivering on your birthday?

I missed mine by 2 days - was due to be induced on 4th too, and so would have delivered on 5th. MY DAY!!! Upstaged for the rest of my life - was not amused!

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 01:17

I have a large backside stuck just under my ribs where I'd like to put some toast.

fourlittlefeet · 09/01/2009 05:30

morning all. had my usual 1.30, 3 and 4 stuff going on.... but this morning it hasn't stopped, so am rocking/bouncing/wandering aimlessly (and quietly) around the flat, trying not to wake DP who went to co-sleep with DD when she woke at 2.

...hmm...is this it?? Am definitely having more stabbingish pains. who knows

Good luck flf, hope you are on your way.

Night started off well until DS2 woke us up at 2, then couldn't get back to sleep. Terrible night from there due to runny nose, sore throat and headache.

Woke this morning feeling decidedly odd. Baby lying really heavily to the left, bum pushed up into my ribs so couldn't breathe and bizarrely couldn't feel my legs properly, which I found really distressing. DH massaged my lower back for a bit but it didn't really help, so decided to get up, do lunch boxes and get organised for school to see if it eased. Legs still feel odd, but better than they did.

Am going to have a bath and then try to go for a walk this morning. Not sure how far I'll get but I'll give it a go.

Have two very tired and grumpy little boys here this morning. Quite relieved they are going to school actually!
