OK, no hope of me being able to catch up on what's being happening after 4 days...but think I'll take up the challenge and give sex another try tonight, sounds much more appealling than castor oil anyway. Since no baby has arrived I have to go back to work tomorrow, such a bummer I thought when I finished for Christmas holidays 2.5 weeks ago that I wouldn't have to go back, but I suppose that was a little optimistic. I'm only 39+4, so not even due yet. Saw doc this morning, head is well engaged, cervics has softened but not thinned at all. My parents arrived on Saturday, are staying for a month and don't seem pleased that most of that month could be spent asking me if I feel anything rather than holding their new grandchild.
Hopefully the combination of sex, bouncing on birthing ball, this weekend's full moon and lots of walking might swing me into action soon...

elkiedee · 08/01/2009 00:15

Shanster, you're still working at 39+4? When do you start maternity leave? Actually, I officially start my ml on my due date but I'm on leave from work anyway until then.

fymandbean · 08/01/2009 06:57

morning [sleepy smile]

DS got me up at 6am how am I going to cope with 2 ????

largeginandtonic · 08/01/2009 08:03

Morning all

Oooogs nice to see you posting, how is it going? It must be hell running round after the twins and being this pregnant, i remember it so well. My back was in a dredful state after i had dd. I saw a chiropract for ages afterwards, it is worth looking in to if you are suffering.

DOG the house sounds fab, i would like to warn you off crazy antics before having a baby but would probably do it myself so go for it. It is amazing what you can get your body to not do if you really want it.

Rrray thought you had vanished in labour never mind, some time soon hopefully... it sounds like it could be pre labour, takes days in a first timer

I had a very painful contraction last night, had a curry and sex, nadda!!! Hey ho. Not even due till Monday so should not really moan i suppose. DH dispatched to get clary sage and a pineapple today. It is Thursday after all... Of course Saturday when all the children are home would be easier as no school run to contend with.

The week is whizzing by, i need some more babies to inspire me, come on ladies

dog - power to you i managed to wriggle out of the school run today but need to hobble out on a load of errands later anyway. I hate the hobbling and grumphing around, feel like an auld wifey (that's some aberdonian for you).

Tried a curry last night and even some hanky panky, butsettled for massage and snuggles instead, much more pleasant.

So looks like you'll get your homebirth afterall. whoooohooo!!

Periwink · 08/01/2009 08:54

Had another awful sleep last night .... was up at 4am! Cannot believe we are not popping these sprogs out. Phone is going off today as I cannto deal with beinginundated with calls from relatives and friends asking if baby has arrived - just making me anxious!

Someone is definetely going into labour today.....

tinkwantsherbaby · 08/01/2009 09:06

morning

39 weeks for me today have midwife @ 3:15pm

tightenings eased off for now.

good luck lenni

hkz · 08/01/2009 09:44

I thought there'd be lots of babies when I logged on this morning! I don't blame them for not wanting to come out...it's much warmer inside a nice big tummy!

Had a terrible nights sleep, completely uncomfortable and now have really painful piles...so can't find any comfy way to lie...was tempted to look for a saw and cut a big belly shaped hole in the mattress at about 3a.m. ... I so want to lie on my tummy.

Has anyone else had piles?(Such an unpleasant topic of conversation! ) I got them after giving birth to DD1 and have had them on and off ever since... have tried everything... midwife told me to drink fybrogel every day and use anusol.. but its still not helping... they are back with avengance. Any ideas? I suppose with impending birth giving they are only going to get worse before they get better.. oh the joys of pregnancy.

Just got back from midwife...everythings in order so that's good. Nothing to do but sit here twiddling my thumbs...

lambskinmmm · 08/01/2009 10:16

hkz - i can sympathise!!! I've no ideas on cure i'm afraid, but if you take steps so they don't get worse they will, eventually, get better, and it will also bring relief short tem too. It worked for me. So - plenty of liquids, no chocolate(sorry)... no alcohol - probably not an issue just now - just basically minimise anyting that isn't easy to digest or dehydrates.. red meat hard cheese etc... and max out on the good stuff, veg fruit etc.

Someone suggested ice cubes for instant relief too which takes down swelling and stops you causing any bad ruptures.

Hope it helps, ... here endeth this morning's bottom lesson!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/01/2009 10:37

I assume you put the ice cubes on your bum... not eat them?

I slept badly too- heartburn is so bad, and necking gaviscon isn't helping much now. I think this baby is going to be HUGE! He is engaged, but still pushing up my norks with his bum!

No babies overnight then?

eachpeach-poor you with heartburn
dog- good luck scrubbing

fymandbean · 08/01/2009 11:10

dog - yes it works...

rrrayray · 08/01/2009 11:35

Morning ladies.

Feeling shattered after another CRAP nights sleep. See i am not alone there though!

Nothing really to report here, am another Thumb Twiddler waiting for it all to happen!

I REALLY thought we were going to have a baby spree after spink and LenniEd... Come on bubbas!

Periwink · 08/01/2009 11:42

Givethedog - phone off and truly bliss, have even taken off the voicemail so that no one can leave a message, god almightly talk about wanting to hibernate and hide from the world.

If another person suggests I have sex, hot curry, drinking castor oil, olive oil ..... i think I will lose the plot ... I have done all these things except castor and olive oil! God i sound like such and anti-social grump ..... not really just tired of being harrassed. Next door neighbour came round last night at 10pm to see if baby had arrived ..... and when clearly it hadnt she told me it was late due to all the exercise I did throughout the pregnancy, then she said her oven was not good for baking would I mind if she brought over a cake and could I bake it that night. I am such a softie I could not say no (husband furious at the cheek of neighbour), anyway she brought cake over at 10.30pm for baking and had it baked by 11.30pm!

Enough moaning - this will be my last grumpy post - promise!!!!

rrrayray · 08/01/2009 12:03

Periwink This is what MN is for... Grumpy Posts!!!! Can't believe cheek of your neighbour (esp so late at night) and people calling/texting so much. I've got away quite lightly so far, with people being rather more subtle and just asking when due date is. Facebook is the worst for "no baby yet then..." Well no, i'm not Due for over another week!!! Grrrrr!!!

tink Good luck @ midwife later. keep us posted

HKZ Sorry, no helpful info here either.. as seems like i've had a lucky escape with no piles. Maybe start a specific thread in pregnancy, i KNOW you aren't alone... there maybe some remedies that have given other women relief that you could try?

Largegin&tonic I know.. this whole pre labour business could take me WEEKS.... Am sticking my fingers in my ears and saying la la la la la, i WILL go into labour within the next week, i WILL. [wonders if postitive thinking helps at all?!]

elkiedee · 08/01/2009 12:05

Hi all, won't be morning by the time I send this post through. Mum came this morning, but as usual shocked by the state of our house and spent her whole visit cleaning it. And yes, it's pretty disgusting, still a lot to do before I want midwifes or HVs anywhere near us. Givethedog, bet your house looks nicer than ours right now.

On the bright side, I've sent ds's 9-12 and 12-18 months to be stored in Yorkshire for when little brother comes along, so that at least gets something out of the house.

I'm going out later this afternoon but maybe I'll get some housework done tomorrow!

missjackson · 08/01/2009 12:10

Morning ladies...

Shanster can't believe you are still working! Although I sometimes think I may as well be at work as sitting around waiting...

I'm trying to be relaxed about the whole thing, especially as I still have 10 days to go until I am even due, but the birth centre won't have me after 42 weeks and I really would like to give birth there in the lovely big pool. They said OH could come in the pool too - has anyone else tried/ considered that? In all the water birth videos I've seen, OHs look a bit useless leaning over the edge patting their partners on the back! The midwife said he can even catch the baby, all being well...

elkiedee · 08/01/2009 12:19

Eek, Blooming Marvellous has called in the administrators. I was about to order some new nighties from them!
