I just can't take any more of this! Don't want to strengthen contractions that aren't doing anything, but do feel really tight around my back (could just be from hours of BH though). Haven't had any periody stabbing pains . I've a couple of friends who did 'encourage' labour and they had nasty ones, which makes me think its much better to just let the body do its thing. Don't understand these weeks of BH though, even with an irritable uterus its a fecking nightmare to believe its not having any effect. grrr.

oooggs · 07/01/2009 20:42

spink - fantastic news on your dd

lenni - go girl

rrrayray · 07/01/2009 20:46

Tree i REALLY don't want Weeks of pre labour either. On the R.Leaf, going to get Clary Sage fri (and pre birth waxing, surely sods law will take me into labour tomo night? Please!) Going to be a woman on a mission over the weekend, Curry, Chilli, pinneapple, Sex... you name the wives tale, i'll be on it!!! :-)

Got reflexology monday, accupunture wed....Come on baby.

Tree (sorry to be abusing your midwife knowledge) with the whole nipple tweaking thing, i haven't tried that yet, but i've got a breast pump tucked away somewhere..... Is it worth giving that whirl?

FLF Go Go Go girl... the other night i had a sudden horny surge, having been beating him away for months with the idea turning my tummy (poor thing) i don't think he knew what had hit him when i demanded it right there & then! ha!

No LenniEd news yet.... Sending you good labour wishes, although i'm hoping you have bubba in arms by now!

treedelivery · 07/01/2009 20:47

Spink has her daughter to look at right now. Oh imagine it! I hope shes out of SCBU soon though and Spink is ok with it all.

I have a daft cat trying to sit on keyboard and constipation. Am sooooooo [green]

treedelivery · 07/01/2009 20:50

Think nipple tweaking is the best as it releases oxcytocin to propel milk - and maybe if your lucky a bubba. Your body would need to be fairly primed and ready and responsive to the hormone, which is the bit medicine struggles with. If mama nature isn't ready to read the oxcytocin then it does nothing. Hence induction can take a while, as does nature, and prostin is often needed first to prime the cervix.

Books keep at the ball, i'm SURE thats what turned bubba from back to back to LOA, and engaged her head in a matter of days!

Tree Shall add the nipple tweaking to my list of things then.

Right, I'm off for a bath and praying for some sleep tonight...

lots and lots of luck for anyone going into labour xxxxxxxx

stripeywoollenhat · 07/01/2009 20:59

rray - midwife told me that the raspberry leaf capsules are about as effective as smarties and you need to make it from loose leaf tea - but that was the really negative midwife so i'm wondering in retrospect if she just didn't like the look of me.... (as the tea is so disgusting that it constitutes cruelty imo). i have a more or less constantly rigid tum at the moment, gets worse after the tea, and walking sets it off for me rather than stops it

dog, house sounds like a good deal - i suppose if it's rubbish you will have the relief of not moving while nine months pregnant, so that's kind of win-win

fourlittlefeet · 07/01/2009 21:00

Yes I keep thinking about Lenni, hope she is ok and the bub latches on well.

Stripey Maybe the tablets are one of those things... placebos are they called? where its more of a mental thing than anything else! My Tablets have run out anyway... maybe i'll get some smarties in instead... much yummier!

Going to pop into my health shop on fri, since going into town for my waxing. They are fantastic in there and have all sort of lotions ( have been using avacado oil and wheat germ oil on their recommendation- lovely) and bits and bobs... Sure they will have something that will at least make me THINK its helping !

Right, bath run... off for soak!

Night ladies, am hoping NOT to be posting at 4am again.... well not unless its labour!

rrrayray · 07/01/2009 21:12

ps, have we REALLY got 7 pages and 165 posts ALREADY..... We natter too much while waiting for labour!

treedelivery · 07/01/2009 21:20

See now I thought the tablets were better as the active ingredient is mega concentrated, and apparently to get much effect from the tea would take shed loads. Cost a bomb though!

But there you go. It's the bummer of the 'non medicine' stuff - it's not actually tested for content, active ingredients, absorbancy in the gut etc etc etc. It's a shame cos I'd hate to think I was wasting my £££!

fourlittlefeet · 07/01/2009 21:23

ray, just wait until we are sitting around breastfeeding for 40 mins every 2 hours! it'll be winding and nappy chat instead of braxton hicks and RLT.

Is it any wonder I never keep up with this thread? So much chatting

Am off for bath and bed myself now- shattered.

dog- sounds like start of contractions, so hope tonight is okay for you.

treedelivery · 07/01/2009 22:11

Second that dog - sounds like another night for you.

So I haven't mentioned TENS in this thread and I'm sure I did on every page in the last one....get your TENS on!!

No knowing if my bump changes shape or not as have no muscle tone to define any lumps or bumps. Nice!

2 hourly bf. Was trying to blank that.....

treedelivery · 07/01/2009 22:12

Enjoy bath EachPeach

fourlittlefeet · 07/01/2009 22:17

good luck gtab. i've got horrible lower back pain so off to bed. DP just did this great massage move where he sort of shook me by putting a hand on either side of my hips. Really help release some of the pressure. He's now making jokes about nipple twiddling and nookie and is keen to get to bed. what HAVE i started?

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 07/01/2009 22:18

lol tree. thats if you are lucky .

would you say strong dragging lower back feeling a bit more labour than BH in your expert opinion (or do I have to have sex!?)

OP posts:
treedelivery · 07/01/2009 22:22

Think you sound quite promising and perhaps on the simmer and suggest lots of sexy semen and snacks!
Might just do it. But I take no responsibility if it doesn't so there!

Infact you do all that stuff, and I'll head off to bed with tens, ipod, paracetamol and a coccoa and we'll have a little trial....Good luck matey!

fourlittlefeet · 07/01/2009 22:25

you are on, though I must say I prefer your menu options had I the choice.

OP posts:
treedelivery · 07/01/2009 22:29

HA! Gotta be quick round here

You'll be smug tomorrow though if you have a bubbs and I still have a bump. If it's other way round there'll be nooooo living with me.
