missjackson - new to all this but would have thought mucus with a little blood might be the start of a show, hope it's a good sign.

gtdab - sorry about the house but hopefully you will find something else that works for you soon and at least you won't have to move in the last moments of pregnancy/with a newborn, which i imagine would be very trying.

nasty period pains here this morning and blood pressure has gone up. midwife insistent that i practise breathing. am exhausted and feel really crappy. good signs, do you think?

fourlittlefeet · 14/01/2009 12:58

thanks everyone. having rested all morning, now off for a walk and a coffee to try and get that head further down. I thought this was all meant to come naturally .

It was really funny last night, I woke to a massive contraction and my first thought was not I'm in labour, no, it was 'Tink is in labour'!!!! how odd it that. Definitely fully in the mumsnet vibe at the mo!

Gooooo Tink.

Afternoon all (lol at good moaning greeting earlier) - sorry to all of you past or near due date and feeling fed up.

Saw midwife this morning - head hasn't moved down (though I didn't think it would have done - I'm still 12 days off due date!).

I spent yesterday putting stuff up on Freecycle and got told off for sending too many messages, but have got rid of a few books and hope to offload more stuff over the next few days. Hoping that the no-show at 12 today will come and collect some time soon, will drop her an email when I get home to see if she's still interested because someone else asked about that item.

I'm venturing out this afternoon again but only to a cafe 5 minutes walk away.

LenniEd · 14/01/2009 13:41

Just checking in to offer some good wishes. MissJackson - you'll have to get used to the phone cable/farmer thing. Happens to us about 4 times a year, and broadband goes down about once a week too - not like big city living is it?!

All ok here - DS not slept very well last night (or at all would prob cover it ) and fed from 7.30am til - well still going so might be forever...

MsSparkle · 14/01/2009 13:52

Well i don't think labour is gonna start for me so i am prepering to go into for induction tomorrow. DD is staying at mil and pils tonight because i have to be at the hospital for 8am.

I have put the moses basket in our bedroom ready and am just doing so washing and making sure the house is clean and tidy. Still have to pack dd though which shouldn't take long.

Apperently when i get to the hospital they are going to do the prostin and leave me for 4 - 6 hours to hopefully kick things off. If that fails they will brake my waters etc. The prostin didn't work with dd but hopefully it will this time.

I will post later but after that i won't be back until the baby is born!

stripeywoollenhat · 14/01/2009 14:00

mssparkle - at least there'll be no more waiting for you - i hope it goes as smoothly and easily as possible

hkz · 14/01/2009 14:05

Good luck MsSparkle, hope it kicks off before induction and if not hope the inductin does its job

Elkiedee- hate it when freecyclers don't turn up, has happened a few times to me and is most annoying!

Stripey- Hope you are feeling better...any more labour signs?

Booksgalore- Thinking of going for some reflexology...has it moved things along?

FLF- Hope coffee and walk does the trick

Missjackson- Hope you've warmed up!

Tink- You've been very quiet today...hope you're in labour

I am soooooooo bored and restless.. having period pains and back ache, but nothing too major...off to eat the midwives' biscuit supply, again.

treedelivery · 14/01/2009 14:32

Hi all,

just put heart and soul into huge posting elsewhere completely off this topic so am all typed out...
But..great news to hear there are a few shows out there, they can mean things, they can mean nothing.....very vauge business this having babies!! Very frustrating!!

Mw came to house bless her and squashed me in to her day. She gave me the mother of all stretch and sweeps [they don't bother me it's like pressing on a bruise and actually felt vaugely satisfying] she could stretch me to 3 cms so thank GOD I haven't been imagining these pains they have had an effect and my cervix is favourable.

Just need some contractions now........if that sweep doesn't work then I'm in for the post dates long haul I reckon. I'll take it to mean am not 'cooked' and I'll have to get a hobby to get through next 2-3 weeks or go bonkers!

Off to mobilise.

tinkisdueanyday · 14/01/2009 14:59

hi ladies

hope all is going well flf
good luck for tom mm and ms sparkle encase i dont get on here.
my last contraction was @ 10am getting tighetings again now so hopefully will get some more soon

LenniEd · 14/01/2009 15:07

Good luck MM and MsSparkle. DS finally finished feeding so off to bed.

Tree - I think this part is that bit harder for you since you know only too acutely how it all works. Make sure you get some rest in between all these trips up and down stairs etc.

On the shows front - I had a show about 10 days before labour. Didn't mention it here (I don't think ) since I had already had about 3 false labours by that point and it turned out to be nothing. With DD I had a show at 4am and my waters broke at 5am, so just shows you - hee hee, no, never was the comedic type....

moosemama · 14/01/2009 15:11

Hi

Sorry no time to read thread yet. Hope everyone's ok.

Went for monitoring this morning. No sooner had I got there then was told she is breech - again! That means she disengaged from 2/5 on Sunday morning and turned herself round. I reckon she did it yesterday morning as that's when all the cramps etc stopped. Also trace was non-reactive so kept on monitor for over an hour - turns out she was asleep!

So, they said it was a section Friday for me, but then the Senior Consultant said he would be happy to do an ECV. Assessment doc said they would probably induce straight away then to stop her turning again.

Panic set in as we had managed to leave our mobiles at home, had no cash and hadn't arranged Mum to collect the boys! The only thing I did have was my hospital bag! Also 3 dogs at home on their own and needing to be delivered to kennels!

Off to labour ward, nasty injection which made me shake. Then consultant came did a quick scan and did the ecv which was bloody painful, but worked! After she turned she went straight to sleep and I wasn't allowed to leave until we had a decent reactive trace with no decelerations (over an hour later).

He felt there was no need for me to stay in today as the labour ward was really busy and was happy for me to come home and go in for my induction in the morning as planned.

So am back home now and sat bolt upright to stop her turning before tomorrow morning. Am so knackered, just want to sleep but have to stay as upright as possible if I want to avoid a section.

Boys are going to stay at Grandma's tonight just in case I go into labour, but Consultant thought it would be unlikely as head is now free again.

Going with DH to drop dogs at kennels in a little while as car seats are hard and upright so that will keep the little blighter head down for a while.

Midwives all said they can't believe what a contrary little madam she is! (Have to agree with that now!)

Moosemama I can't believe she turned!! What a nightmare! Still hopefully if she had room to turn that could mean she is not huge? This is my big fear right now as big babies run in the family.
Four Little Feet and EachPeachPearMum, I am laughing at the idea of us PMs trying to manage our pregnancy in MS Project. DH keeps telling me this is something I cannot 'manage' and control, drives me crazy. I am supposed to go into to office tomorrow for a kick off meeting for a new project, madness. Told them ages ago they should have had my temp hired a month ago...hohum, hope baby comes tonight and I can get out of it.
Have appt with consultant today, am 4 days over and they induce at 41 weeks here so they'll decide how long I can go based on today's scan. Really don't want to be induced, but at the same time I have a feeling this baby may not come of her own accord. I have NO pre labour symptoms, not fair!

moosemama · 14/01/2009 15:49

Well, scratch that.

Apparently am not off to kennels and boys not off to Mums.

Having left her at her house half an hour ago where she agreed to have the boys tonight and was, absolutely fine. Mum turned up at mine and announced that she is far to tired to have the boys tonight, her bad knee hurts and she will be short tempered with them.

Also the dog that doesn't go to kennels that my ILs said they'd have can't go to theirs now as they have SILs dog (for no particular reason she just palms it off on them when she can't be bothered with it) who hates my dog and is also in season!

FGS they all knew I was due in at 8am for an induction tomorrow morning and they've all decided they can't be bothered to help!

This is just flippin typical of our families, in yer face all the time until you really need them then can't be seen for dust!

Am really really about it all!

poor you mm with situation good luck for tom not long till you have your baby now

moosemama · 14/01/2009 15:55

Thanks GTDAB nothing we can do really. Just pray I don't go into labour tonight.

DH is off to take the 2 bigger dogs to kennels now and despite being totally drained from this mornings events (and pain) I will have to have the boys on my own for a couple of hours (chose kennels for quality rather than proximity).

Not really, the dogs get so excited when going to the kennels (I think they prefer there to home) that they are a bit of a handful, he really needs both hands free to handle them. They are really good for me because I trained them all, but DH is considered a bit of a playmate rather than a leader!

Boys have gone upstairs to play in their room for a while, but DS1 hasn't done his homework and I'm too tired and sore to help him.

Would feel better if I could have a lie down.

Wonder if its possible to sleep standing up?

treedelivery · 14/01/2009 16:28

Oh MOOOSE!! What a complete arse of a day. Your so mild about things I'd be stomping about like a spoilt princess. Bless you if was nearer would come to look after boys

It's great bubs turned for you though, really really hope she stays!! Stick the lads in front of a dvd and a bowl of crisps adn duvets and all lcuddle down. And never mind the homework what can you do at a time like this.

I know I'm blessed with my mum.

Hope your doing ok Tink. And stripey.

Nothing here, heavy period pains and backache from the stretch..we'll see. It's cheered me up seeing the midwife a bit of positive feedback!

moosemama · 14/01/2009 16:33

Aw thanks Tree.

Am feeling slightly paranoid that she will turn again (can't believe she turned breech without me feeling it at nearly 42 wks). Have started a thread in pregnancy asking for suggestions on how I can get some rest without getting into a position where she can easily turn again.

Keep feeling a lump just under tummy button though and am worried I might be too late already, despite sitting bolt upright since 1.45 this afternoon.

How on earth is she managing to turn so much at this late stage!?

treedelivery · 14/01/2009 16:38

Do you think she was breech all along? I'd wonder that tbh. Mind you if she turned ok at this stage via ecv then she may be very very movey groovey so I guess it is very possible. Or the consultant is a genius as only a third or so turn on ecv! She can't have been very deep in the pelvis.

I think all you can do is keep your pelvis 'open' by having your knees lower than your hips if possible. Then at least she has a clear bath in!

treedelivery · 14/01/2009 16:40

Are you having much time off after labour Shanster? How much do they give you over there?
I'd be of no use and certainly no ornament if I were at work now. Was gibbering wreck at 37 weeks!!
