Have made the same vow. It's really hard though isn't it!! Apart from it actually hurting and therefore hard to ignore, I want these pains and so get excited!!

Like waiting for Christmas as a kid, you know it will come quicker if you go to sleep but.....

She is a cutie. She's a funny litle woman and takes ace care of me. Bless her.

largeginandtonic · 13/01/2009 14:24

Hello you niggly lot

I am uber niggly, have been getting proper pains on and off all day. They started at 4.28 this morning. It woke me up! I had 5 10 mins apart and then nothing... today they have been every 10 mins then nothing for an hour repeat ad nauseum

I do feel like my cervix is being pulled a bit so am hoping this is the prelude, will call the midwife later if it keeps up as i laboured like this baby #4. It took the midwife coming out for a good 'rummage' to really kick it off.

Could disappear though, who knows.

Tree wish you were my midwife Hope the dreaded squirts actually mean it is all gearing up. It is so exhausting and incredibly frustrating waiting...

Books mine don't engage till labour is established. Don't get disheartened.

Rrray great advice from Tree already, i am sure your body will boot the baby out soon Hope they give you a good sweep and get things moving.

FLF the cookies sound fab I made a batch of Apricot nectar cookies from an American cookie book the other day. I have a choc cake on the go too. I am huge baking fan and am a bit obsessed about the midwives having something nice to eat while they are here. It sounds like you are about to go on to full boil Hooray!!!!

Peri what a gorgeous name for your wee girl can't wait to hear all about it. Feet up and snuggle her.

Shanster lovely bump, mine is vast (see profile) i think the girl will be 10lb

Have been eating pineapple, sniffing clary sage and taking the caulophyllum too, come on baby!

Maybe Moose is in business...

moosemama · 13/01/2009 14:30

Gosh everyone has been busy chatting today!

No more big contractions today I'm afraid. Lots of shooting pains niggles and tightenings plus upset tum and feeling shaky and sick - not holding my breath though could well still be in for that induction on Thursday.

(They've told me to call labour ward before 8 to ask what time to go in.)

Feel a bit more relaxed now DH has booked leave for the rest of the week. Feeling a bit clingy and pathetic at the moment, don't necessarily want him with me every second but feel more secure if he is in the house, even if I'm napping upstairs.

Tree I'm like you, those few real humdinging contractions last night really had me fooled, the rest of the niggles and stuff I know aren't ' proper labour' so to speak, they are just a flippin' uncomfortable nuisance!

Am now 41+3 and really fed up with all this stop-start business. It is just so not funny any more!

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 14:34

Completely off topic but

If anyone likes their dc's in merino wool [we do for dd's skin, bit atopic] then dh just came to me with a 50% discount code through his cycling stuff. Nice!!

Code is clubj09

Ray, you are in the position I was in with DS1. He was only on the 2nd centile and was monitored all the time for the last month plus had 2 scans a week to check placenta flow and efficiency. He eventually came up to the 9th centile by 6 days late and was 6 and a half pounds when born. He's still a gorgeous little dot now and has remained on the 9th centile all his life.

(DS2 is and was 50th centile and according to scans this one is on the 9th again.)

Its good to hear that they are on top of things and monitoring ain't so bad really, just be sure to take chocolate and a magazine to keep you occupied.

I found it really helped being in so often actually, as I knew most of the midwives by the time I went into labour and the place felt familiar.

largeginandtonic · 13/01/2009 14:37

Aw Moose never mind, it could all still kick off. I was due to be induced with #5 and went in to labour that night. Positive thinking and all that jazz Opening like a flower if you have been raeding Caroline Flint or Ina May Gaskin

I am a bit dh clingy too which is bizzare as i am an independant soul normally. I just feel safer having him nearby. Of course he may be catching the baby later to figures to keep him near.

LenniEd · 13/01/2009 14:49

Books - DS was not engaged when I was 5cm dilated and well and truly in full swing labour (he was born a couple of hours later) so don't worry.

Rrrayray - Sorry to hear about your low fluid etc., can't possibly say anything as eloquent or encouraging as Tree has so will some hugs suffice?

Good luck to everyone

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 14:49

Bonkers to think we could all be done and dusted and feeding in the morning...

yeah right!

just back from consultant. cervix still high and posterior, so god knows what I felt . He had a good rummage though, so maybe that'll start things off.

I did ask about when to phone/go to hospital and he said tightenings didn't count, they were looking for the toe curling ones, 3 times every 10 mins for over an hour... so there you have it. Those night pains are just figments of our imagination!

hkz · 13/01/2009 16:20

Wow...its been a busy day. I'm still feeling wierd and serene...but can't sit still, was going to have a nap but ended up cleaning and sorting through baby clothes.
Took DD swimming, she was not impressed, she used to love it when she was tiny, but today was all clingy and whinging.

Well it seems like someone's got to pop soon. I'm due tomorrow, but not much baby action here at the mo. I can't believe I'm actually excited about going into labour!

Right, going to attempt to clean inside of filthy car and install new baby car seat.

Periwink · 13/01/2009 17:31

Thanks for all the congrats ladies, will catch up and reply properly when I can find time between feeding, changing nappies etc...

tinkisdueanyday · 13/01/2009 17:40

last contraction here was @ 4pm were hourly from 1pm hope this means that baby will arrive soon

stripeywoollenhat · 13/01/2009 18:34

no more babies yet..?! what is going on with these reluctant children? i know the weather is rubbish, but really..!

obviously, no sign of little stripey - am 40 weeks today but she's clearly not the punctual type. more raspberry leaf tea and ball-bouncing for me, i guess. yesterday she was posterior all day, very alarming, but she seems to have swivelled back to more or less loa today. so far as i can tell with a nearly constantly rigid tum, anyway. think i may try sleeping on the couch tonight, can't take another night of trying to reconcile hip pain and sleeping dp (who would take the couch, of course, but i think i may be going to try sleeping in a slightly more upright position so the couch might be better than bed). sick of this pregnancy lark now...

rray, hope lo disembarks shortly, glad they are keeping a close eye on you.

tink, got my fingers crossed for you

MissHairspray · 13/01/2009 18:41

Just catching up. Congrats Periwkink, thought you were going moosey and rrayray but sure it has to be soon now for you.

FLF very impressed with making all of those biscuits, I went and bought loads of cakes the other day so we had something in for all of the visitors we were bound to have..but we have had no visitors and most have now been eaten. Have to get my kicks somehow.

40 + 6 today, went in for a sweep today, mw could barely even reach my cervix and don't even think i'm 1cm so she said chances of it working are slim. Going in for another sweep on Thurs and if that doesn't work induction on Monday. I know things could still happen naturally but I just feel a bit useless, like my body is failing at this last hurdle. On the other hand, this time next Thursday I will definitely have a baby even if i'm not quite sure how yet, and that is a scary thought too!

Hope some more babies arrive tonight, even though I will be v

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 18:47

Have just done some henna art on the bump! A lovely friend sent the kit. Dunno what work mates are gonna think Was thinking of full on bump coverage incorporating stretch marks but couldn't actually see so did a pattern to the side. Will post pics when dry and stain has taken!

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 19:20

flf - glad you got on good at clinic. How was the sooty and sweep? Not too ouch?

So, am sicky, runs, shakes, tummy tight to bursting, pressure, backache and tightnings. And a bit of an 'aura' somethings on the brew[will look really daft now in 3 weeks when still pregnant].

Needless to say dh has gone to gym, then a meeting and not brought phone and dd is hyper. Now isn't that annoying!?

It's possibly my own fault as I may have over reached my self and strained things when checking out my piles with a mirror....

fourlittlefeet · 13/01/2009 19:35

lol at looking at piles in mirror. no WAY I'm looking at ANYTHING down there. fingers in ears lalalalalalala.

Sweep not at all painful, very senior consultant did it, so lucky. Head isn't fully engaged yet, so thats why nothing kicking off. Am going to do a good half hour of ball bouncing tonight and then may even contemplate doing the do. . not promising DP anything though

I'm sooo bored. Can't settled to reading, can't watch TV as we don't have one, don't want to listen to the radio or music, and don't have any good dvd's. grump. feel like I'm about 15 again! And feel a bit sick from eating too many cookies.

OP posts:
stripeywoollenhat · 13/01/2009 19:39

flf - there's nothing on tv anyway...

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 19:47

Thats what I'm like all the time. Well since 38+ No attention span and unable to apply myself. Mum says I remind her of the cows in Ireland when they are birthing. They pace the fields.

That and the udders I guess.....

hkz · 13/01/2009 19:56

Its weird this whole restless thing isn't it? I remember our cat pacing round the house and being listless and unable to settle..and then giving birth to her kittens...its a sign. I feel exactly the same...and very kind of zen and peaceful at the same time...come on baby!

My sympathy goes out to fellow piles sufferers, I hate those little critters.

hkz · 13/01/2009 19:59

Oh lord. East enders just made me cry.
